Hi All! I am New Here!
July SW: 338
CW:335
July Goal:320
1st LT Goal:250
2nd LT Goal:200
UGW:??? I've never been near a goal weight as an adult so I don't know what this looks like for me (I certainly don't trust the BMI Scale that says I should be between 130-160 I think I weighed that in middle school...)
🌺 I decided to postpone my WLS. I was having doubts and I feel like I have the tools to do this on my own, but have never given it an earnest try. July through September is the three months I decided to postpone and try on my own. I am looking to find a challenge/group for that timeframe to help me towards that goal. I am thankful that my husband was honest and listened to me about my doubts and told me he never really wanted me to have surgery. And that he believes I can do it on my own.
looking for new friends and accountability partners in this journey.
My Goals for July are:
Walking 3 times a week with family
Research and incorporate other exercises into a daily routine.
Close all activity rings daily
Logging everyday
Start a journal
Mindful eating
Learn about Meal prepping.
Drink more water!
Welcome! This is a wonderful group. And that is so great that your husband is in your corner and supporting you on the decision to postpone WLS. I am sure you'll make tremendous progress in these next three months!5 -
@changeforeverlj - I read that same article from the NYT. It was a big wakeup call for me too! Your 40+ lb loss in four months is ~INCREDIBLE~!! Congratulations. I loved hearing about the exercise that you incorporated in, because I'm trying to do the same thing. I was getting so discouraged with my own scale not budging despite so much work on my diet, and I decided to really make this month all about consistent exercise so that I could get the mental boost from it. Now I just need to find myself a beach and rambling farm roads
@mszoueb Any loss is a good loss! And I like those cheese triangles too.
@brownsugar - I've been looking for new Spotify mixes! Thank you for sharing! I'm going to play it right now while I chop up some fresh fruit and work on a new art piece.8 -
We're almost at the mid-month mark, so I went back and read my post from July 1 with a renewed commitment to the next two weeks:
SW: 232lbs
CW: 225lbs
1stGW: not focusing on the number this month - exercise goals only
Weekly goals:
🌸 Continue my outdoor workouts (no gym, no problem!) - swimming, gymnastic rings, and cardio bursts - YES, and I'm really proud of myself sticking with it even during this heat wave. I feel like I'm getting stronger and sleeping better.
🌺 Record all food and stay under sugar goal - been a mixed bag. I'm tracking food but will pay more attention to the sugar count as sweets are my weakness.
🌸 New goal: try intermittent fasting for the final two weeks and eat between 12pm - 8pm.
And a new round of things I'm grateful for: I love watering the garden early in the morning - I almost always see a bunny or toad or dragonflies or lately a mama deer and her three little bambis! I love how my old dog snoozes in a sunny spot on the rug all day and how her snores keep me company while I draw. I'm grateful that we inherited an old broken-down grill from my sister and my husband got it working again, so I'll have fresh grilled pineapple tonight. And I am extremely grateful for my little business that's hanging on during this endless pandemic.
💜 I'm (still) so happy to be here! 💜10 -
Hi all. I'm another "newbie." I've been on and off MFP for years but this is my first time posting in the group. My name is Tracy. Reading through your posts, I'm very inspired by you all!
SW: 278
CW: 273
GW: comfortable in my own skin while being able to be active and strong!
I'm a Peloton enthusiast so some of my goals have to do with the challenges they have going this month too.
July Goals (week of 7/13)
Log everything that goes in my mouth
Keep up with PZ challenge (scheduled bike rides, minimum 3x per week)
Do at least one workout with each of my team's instructors for Pelothon
Try one new recipe week (I did this yesterday with our meatless Monday dinner - YUM!)
Drink 72+ oz of water daily

Oh man it's so nice to see the scale drop after so long.
I'm coming up soon on 100 lbs lost. I never believed that I would come this far. Never ever. I've also never been so happy to be proven wrong.24 -
What I didn’t do from Yesterday’s to do list:
• Read news
• Drink enough water
Today’s To Do List
• See above
• Exercise
• I have recommended readings from my class to do
I am back down to my low so my focus today is water and keeping calories low. I had semi higher calories a few days last week/weekend so I can afford less calories this week. However I need to get water intake up again and continue to exercise.
@RavenStCloud Glad the scale is cooperating. Hope you get through your crazy week well.
Hello to all the new people
@Terytha Glad you are making progress. I am cheering you on to a 100 lb loss!7 -
So many amazing weight losses!! Well done everyone.
Had a bit of a set back over the last couple of days. So I'm going to leave weighing this week. But I'll get back on it from now.
I've kept logging though so I'll take that as a plus!7 -
Greetings beauties! I'm Sylvia, a 34 year old mom to 2 rambunctious little minions. I'm currently back at 288lbs... I managed to bring myself down so much last time (around 60lbs gone!) and then I had some disordered eating struggles make their way back to the surface (I struggled with bulimia in my 20s) So I had to re-evaluate and try to get my head on straight. Then came coronavirus... I went back to school to finish my degree Anand well life throws you curveballs doesn't it? But, you know what? Not ever letting that stop me. Im here, Im in a much better mind set and Im ready to kick some booooootay. (Just my own, I promise) Anyway, please feel free to add me, I'd love to have some more support on my feed and see what everyone else is up to. Light and love.14

Hi everyone. I am not new to my fitness pal but I am new to participating in community support groups. My goal is to get more involved to help me stay focused.
CW 256

This group is very motivating. Keep up the great work everyone.

I am back to it now! We are moved and settled (mostly) into our pretty little cottage, the cats are thrilled with the sunroom and 24/7 cat TV of birds and squirrels and other wildlife, and I have enough stuff put away to clean house.
Today I'm going to go to the home improvement store for small random things like hooks for a robe on the back of the door and poster hanging stuff for the notice board on the fridge, and hang pictures and just generally make things pretty. I also have books to arrange; Girlfriend just took them out of boxes and shoved them on the shelf, and they really do need to be by category as much as by size. Especially since they all have Library of Congress catalog numbers on the spine. (Yes, we are like that.)
I also get to go out today and get a membership at the gym that is local to me now, and find out how much it will cost for Girlfriend to take aqua arthritis classes at the Y. We can't quite afford a membership for her right now, let alone for all three of us, but I am good with Planet Fitness, and if she can just pay for classes for a couple months, things will get better.
It's so GOOD to get back to losing weight and eating properly!9 -
@Jessieb00 Welcome to the group, the support is essential to longterm goals! Lots of ladies have great advice, I've learned a lot in a short time!
@ruther345 Hi! Good luck with your journey.
@KeriA I love your todo lists! You really keep busy! My son pointed out that he can't understand why I'm moaning about the wineshop being closed, because when it was open I never went anyway. So I realized it was a case of now that I can't buy it I want it! So I'm ok with it now!
@jillsmith8297 Welcome, that's a jump between your boys and your girl! I'm sure they spoil her rotten! Cooking at home is definitely the right choice!
@RavenStCloud Well done on your losses! Sorry about the PMS, nothing worse!! I find I can't snack as I'm all or nothing so try really hard not to eat between meals. I also drink a lot of hot lemon water!
@wanderinglight Thanks for your kind words! Losing weight is really a lonely journey! That's why this group is fantastic, it doesn't matter where you are in the world, what your circumstances are, who you are, we all have the same goal, to be lighter, and healthier! And we can really be honest and real here. I love intermittent fasting it helps with discipline and a good mindset!
@AZWildcatnNC Welcome, you have great goals! I wish you well on your journey!
@Terytha Oh wow, that's really inspiring!! I salute you for keeping at it! I'm following your example!
@darksunapril I think the logging is vital! So that you keep trying no matter what!
@SylviazSpirit Hi, well done for admitting your problems! I think that's half the battle won!
@simplify45 Welcome, I look forward to reading your posts along the way! Good luck!

Saw this and figured we could all use the reminder.

Weigh in time again!
29F - 5'4"
SW: 224
July GW: 199.9
UGW: 120
7/5: 208.4
7/8: 207.6 (-0.8)
7/15: 206.4 (-1.2)
Weekly goals:
Log 100%
Work out 5-6 times a week
Stay within calorie goal
I feel a little disappointed that I didn't lose more but I have to remind myself that I'm I'm starting ToM tomorrow so I'm probably retaining a lot of water too.
Today's my brother's birthday so I need to not over do it on cake and budget calories throughout the day. I also need to not stress eat because I got some very bad news about a relative last night. We'll see what happens but I'm bracing for the worst.
Exercise-wise I started level 2 of the 30 day shred but my knee if starting to hurt again. I had to modify level 1 to not use jumping jacks because the last two times I did it I hurt my knee and had to stop. The first time my doctor told me "You're too fat to do jumping jacks. You shouldn't even be going up stairs" and it made me cry but I don't think 200lbs in your 20's means you shouldn't go up stairs. Anyway this time I got through level 1 just fine but level 2 is much higher impact.11 -

Week 2
Down 0.4 this week. Not so great on my goals, either; two days were spent in the car (4hr drive each time) & ended *just* short. Broke my exercise record, though - 132min! Hoping for a better week ahead!
Goals:
🌺 Close my Stand ring (12hrs) daily: 5/7
🌺 Close my Move ring (540Cal) daily: 5/7
🌺 Close my Exercise ring (30min) 2x/wk: 2/2
🌺 No snacking after 8pm: 7/76 -
JULY GOALS ---
(1) Log all food and beverages honestly; Drink 10+ water -- MEASURE IT!!
(2) Exercise 30 min minimum (3000 steps)
(3) Clean 30 min per day: house or yard or declutter
TASKS FOR TODAY ---
Do 20 min stretches and 30 min of walking
Feed & Water animals -- done
Yardwork: water hanging plants
Groceries: Pickup, bring into house, sanitize, put away
Cleaned out frig, freezer, and pantry yesterday ... put in bins for yesterday's trash pickup. Today, restocking with grocery order. Friday daughter is coming over. She bought 1/4 beef and 1/4 pork. We're splitting it and she's bringing my share over on Friday. YUM!! Both from local Amish farmer who raises his animals on feeds with no pesticides, etc. Flavor is wonderful. Plus, he'll package it for 2 servings instead of the usual 4 so that really helps a lot.
Feeling relatively pain free finally. Am heading down to the Farmer's Market shortly to pick up some fresh veggies. And, get in some walking. I have a lot of posts to catch up on so will plan to read through them later today.
Have a great day Y'all !! 🌞8 -
Goals for the rest of July:
Get back to logging and keeping a calorie deficit. (Started today, now that I have internet to log it here.)
Get a membership at the local Planet Fitness
Do stretching daily at home.
I'll weigh at the end of July and set August goals.

@SquidVonBob -
Your Doctor sounds mean. And don't be disappointed at the rate of your loss. You lost 2 pounds in 2 weeks. That is a victory.8 -
Hi all! I'm so excited I found this group and I'm allowed to jump in halfway through the month I'm Katie, I'm 31, and I'm on day 3 of my clean eating/migraine friendly eating plan. I'm hoping to use diet and exercise to help decrease my vestibular migraine symptoms.
Height: 5'5.5"
Highest Adult Weight (12/2019): 231
Lowest Adult Weight (4/2011): 169
Goal #1: 169
Goal #2: 135 (may stop here)
UGW: 125, depends on how I feel
Current Weight: 7/15/20 209.6
July goals:
Stay on track, don't give up, don't chicken out; you got this!6 -
Wednesday weigh in
Highest weight: 435 (11/1/18)--lost 50 lbs. by the end of 2018 but got off track and gained back almost 31 lbs.
SW: 415.8 (4/17/19)
6/30: 235.6
7/1: 234.8
7/8: 231.2
7/15: 228.8
7/22:
7/29:
July GW: 228.1
GW: 160 (then reevaluate)
Weekly exercise goals:
- exercise bike 5 times per week - 5/5
- short walking videos or treadmill three times a day 5 times per week - 5/5
- strength training (including core specific exercises) 2 times per week - 2/2
- chair yoga 4 times per week - 4/4
My exercise bike time was really 3 times plus 2 outside bike rides. Plus I went on a couple bike rides with my son over the weekend, one of which was cut short by the approach of an unexpected thunderstorm.
I'm not sure how this coming week will play out. I had a couple of appointments and a bunch of errands today. I'll be out of town Friday through Sunday and then Tuesday I might have to take my Dad to a doctor appointment. That's usually a full day that I'm gone. I think my exercise will fall short this week. Hopefully my calories will still be close to my normal deficit. We'll see how it works out. Oh, well. It's only one week!
Can't believe July is half over. Hope everyone has a good 2nd half!7 -
Hello new members
@AlexandraFindsHerself glad you are settling in. Nice to have you back.
@SquidVonBob 206 lbs is not too big to go upstairs. I am heavier (and older)and took 3 flights every day to my office and more when I had to go to another floor before I started working from home. I do mostly low impact exercise. There is a modified jumping jack that is low impact by doing each side separately and not jumping. I have arthritis in my knees.
@ChrysalisCove good job with the no snacking after 8 PM.
I got in my exercise today with a combination of Gazelle and a Tai Chi video. The video was for seniors and also included acupuncture based healing self-massage. Today is not so busy since we are having leftovers. Yay for my husband that keeps reminding me of things we need to eat up so stop cooking already. I am also ready for our class/workshop tonight. I have already read my online newspapers. I am keeping my calories on the low side this week. Really concentrating on water intake since it fell off a bit last week and weekends. Even so I have am still doing better than when I commuted to work. My daughter wants me to watch Jane Eyre with her for her acting class. Good timing since I have done what I needed to.8 -
I’m really struggling. Not being able to do my usual exercises has really sapped my spirit. After finally getting to the point that I love to exercise .... I can’t 😔
I’ve discovered I’m not the superwoman I thought I was. Well, I did have abdominal surgery. And I don’t have major pain, more easily fatigued.
I’ve decided to do what walking I can. Little at a time to get my strength back. I’ve taken off work longer than I initially intended. I’ll see when I go to doctor if he’ll release me to go to work.
In the meantime, I’ll continue to watch what I eat and build my strength!
Hope you’re all having a great week❣️15 -
Hi ladies! Weigh-in was great: even though I went back up to 204 last week, I've finally hit the 200 mark today, and that's even with inflammation in my knee! I've also been losing more inches (the app won't let me post pics; maybe because of the site maintenance?)
Did you know that popcorn is whole grain? I didn't, and I've been eating it every night for a week. I'm grain-intolerant. At least I finally figured out why the knee swelling wasn't going down, haha!
Plant-based has definitely proven itself as my body's preferred method of fuel. My energy and mood have been fantastic this last week!
Today was hard: Little Princess is teething her two year molars, so we're having frozen pizza for dinner as a treat, and I'm not even feeling guilty about the extra gajillion calories lol.
Have a great rest of week and weekend!!10 -
Mid-month check-in!
🌻Highest weight- 207.5
🌻July 1st - 200.6
🌻July 15th - 199.4
🌻End of July GW- 195
🌻UGW- 170 (then re-evaluate)
4.4 pounds from my goal this month! 💪🏻 My focus will be on accurate logging everyday of the week. I tend to skip logging a bit on the weekends and that slows down my progress.
I’m so excited to be back in the 100’s 😊9 -

Your doctor is full of it. I was around where you are in my 20's, and 30 day shred was a thing I used my first time around losing weight. Also, the stairs thing is such an awful thing to say. What a mean person.5 -
Good morning everyone!
Quick tags, only from the last page or so, although I've been reading all your posts!
@sweetirish that's a great way of thinking about it.
@chrysalisCove I like that your goals are so quantifiable! Weight loss isn't linear, so keep it up, and you'll see results!
@cesse47 glad you're feeling better! My husband used to live next to an Amish market, and it was the best.
@AlexandraFindsHerself1971 congratulations on the new place!
@surreptitially you do have this. We're all here for you.
@MuttiNM Look at you crushing those goals!
@KeriA Leftovers are the best. No cooking, no money required. I liked Tai Chi while I did it- I should get into it again.
@pamiede you've had to go through a lot, even superwomen need to take care of themselves after they've been wounded. You're still doing amazing.
@FoolishJoy oh man the teeth! That's rough times. Congratulations on the progress, and I hope you really enjoyed the pizza!
@rhsdancer5 welcome to ONEDERLAND! CONGRATS!
I'm doing pretty well, hitting my goals. We'll see if I manage to hit my weight loss goal for this month, but even if I don't, I'm feeling great about what I'm accomplishing. See y'all for weigh in day tomorrow! Crush it!6 -
Today I'm going to do the big weekly grocery shop. I've been having a lot of foot pain, which is no surprise as I spent a week mostly on my feet and working for the painting and the move. But it wasn't as bad as it could be. It's possible, given the localized degree of pain, that I have a stress fracture in one foot. Not that that changes anything, because they tell you to stay off it when it hurts and take acetaminophen, and I can do that without the doctor telling me to.
Things are slowly coming together in good order. But it's slow.8 -

I think Squid’s squad here needs to go have a word with that doctor. That is NOT the way to inspire health and change. You just keep doing you. 💜4 -

Sorry to hear about your relative, sounds like you've got a lot going on but I have no doubt you'll continue to smash this month!
Wow, that doctor could have used a little sensitivity.. it sounds like the shoe has never been on the other foot for them.. I recognise extra weight when jumping isn't good for the knees but they could have used their supposed education or common sense to know you can also modify the move to do it without a jump too! You've got fire within you to improve your fitness, keep on blazing I did the PE with Joe Wicks for 5 days a week for a month and I had to stop as it was aggravating my knees too much so know what you mean though.
I used to do the 30 day shred on level 1, never got to level 2 (is it a lot lot harder?) but eager to get back to that. I've started a 2 week shred challenge by Chloe Ting - granted I can't do all the moves for varying reasons and at my weight I won't end up with 11 line flat ab going on by the end but hopefully will build my fitness back up.
4 -
@mszoueb
Level 2 of the 30 day shred is a good bit harder but I also found the exercises more fun. The problem is it's much higher impact. I'm actually taking a break from the 30DS so that my knee can recover and I'm doing HIIT on the elliptical in the meantime.
As for the doctor I don't see her anymore. She was a doctor at my University. You'd think a big well known school like Temple would have better doctors but almost everything about that school was bad and abusive and I'm glad I left. Seriously I still have nightmares about being back there.4 -
im in physical therapy and i walk there on the days i have to go. im 263 now. i hope to get a scale since my kids broke mine to see more results. i love this month.
