My "petty" reason I hate corona

Tomorrow will be 2 weeks since I contracted covid 19. Praise God I have had a mild case and I already know I have SO much to be thankful for. I also know that Corona virus is a major issue and there are many huge and important reasons to hate it. But- do you have a petty reason? Mine is that for about the last 10 days I have been over the worst part of the illness but just haven't felt quite well enough to do anything much at all and my eating has been lower than it should be too because I can't taste or smell very much yet. So I've felt like all this effort I've put into gaining muscle before Corona is down the drain! I can actually feel my muscles shrinking away! I know its petty but it drives me crazy!

My petty reason is very petty - especially since I find your 'petty reason' to be pretty valid!
I have a huge 1/2 gallon mug that I typically fill up at a convenience store/gas station on the way to work w/ Coke Zero. I love fountain Coke Zero. Now stores are not allowing refills, so I can't fill my mug. Instead I am drinking 20 ounce bottles or occasionally getting a 44 oz styrofoam cup of fountain soda. So my garbage cans are filling up with bottles & cups.10 -
My petty reason is Margaritas on the patio with friends. One of my favorite summer things is taking a day off with friends going to a fun restaurant patio drinking margaritas and talking about nonsense. I miss that so much this summer.14

Hope you feel better..and get all your muscle back!
My petty reason: I used to look at Facebook to decompress in the afternoons. Now with all the debates and drama, I need a way to decompress after looking at Facebook.31 -

You cant pour the pop into your own container out of the store supplies cup??? If you are drinking convenience store pop, you are wasting a cup anyway.0 -

I'm in a gardening group in FB and the only drama is between Chemlawn vs no Chemlawn
My petty reason is I hate the one way aisles in stores.9 -

My petty reason is that I’m finally at a place where I’m willing to get up and work out (major depression has been a beast lately) and I can’t because the gyms are closed. And even if they open, I probably won’t go back until the end of the year...maybe
Another reason is that sometimes I wanna treat myself and make something fancy, or fancier than normal, and i realize that I don’t have the ingredients... then I have to force myself to wait until the next grocery trip because missing sundried tomatoes is not worth the possible exposure. -.- *sighs dramatically*11 -

I hate working out at home. It’s a major endeavor to motivate myself. But I did it. My gym is actually open, but I’m not going back there. I don’t have a home gym, I have to move a few things around in my bedroom each time to make room. Now that I’ve done it for two weeks in a row it’s feeling more normal...becoming a habit. And if I switch up the routines every so often it keeps me from getting bored (so far). The MFP blog has a couple of good at-home routines I’m going to tey.

I don't think any of these reasons are petty. I'm still social distancing, working from home, which is lonely despite my wonderful husband being there half the day (he has already gone back to work). I hate wearing a mask while I shop because I can't wear one with my glasses and need to wear my contacts (my glasses are way too big for my face and fall off even when I'm not wearing a mask, so I have to wear contacts or they will literally fall to the ground). Note: I always wear a mask to shop though. I hate that all recreational things are closed cause I'm tired of hanging out at the park or home. I hate that my vacation to Hawaii had to be cancelled and that I have about 2k tied up in American Airlines as "credit". I hate that I have to wash my groceries when I bring them in. I hate that we don't even know when the second wave will be. I could go on but thankfully I have been healthy. My family has been healthy. We are employed and not suffering financially from this. A lot to be thankful for....but it still sucks.
OP I wish you a really good recovery and hope you get your sense of taste/smell back!! Stay safe.10 -
My new petty reason is that there is apparently a shortage of regular sponges (no scrubbie). My Walmart has been out the last two times I went and Shaws is out as well. Yes, I do still see them online, but for ridiculously high prices.2

I miss the symphony and plays, and the fun of dressing up and going to see amazing performances. I finally moved to a city where I could do these things and now everything's shut down.
I miss the SCA. Again, I got my life to a place where we could make garb and the three of us could start going to events, and....the entire year is pretty much shut down.
I'm a homebody and an introvert anyway, so it's not as bad to be stuck at home, but part of the fun of home is going away and coming back to it with new things and experiences to talk about. And that's not happening now.
It also doesn't help that in November my boyfriend was seriously beaten and assaulted (yes, it happens to men too) and because of Covid he's had real trouble getting therapy and we've sort of been having to half-*ss it ourselves at home. I don't want to be his therapist, I want to be his girlfriend. But I can't blame therapists for not wanting to do in-person visits. (sigh)19 -
The wallpaper I need to finish my basement reno, that I ordered back in January, is sitting on the other side of the closed US/Canada border.
Hope you feel normal soon, OP!6 -

@AlexandraFindsHerself1971
So sorry to hear about your boyfriend
I'm with the VA, and in my area anyway they went immediately to tele-health. I've also heard news stories about this being expanded for the general population in my state and surrounding states. I actually like this as it feels safer to express strong emotion and I don't have to worry about driving home after being very upset.
There have been some technical issues, but after years of remote conferences I'm used to that anyway.4 -
People keep buying up all of my husband's preferred brand of peanut butter at Costco and it's so much more expensive at the grocery store (he goes through a lot of peanut butter). A seriously petty reason to hate corona.6

Smiles. I miss people’s smiles.
Either their face is masked, or if not masked, they are so preoccupied they no longer smile.15 -

I was just thinking about this the other day and have been making an extra effort to smile fully behind my mask - the kind of genuine smile that reaches the eyes, rather than the more ‘polite, social smile’ people use in public while shopping etc.
Don’t suppose anyone notices but it makes me feel better! 😊14 -
I can't get any until I have the vaccine.1

Same place the sugar free lemon pudding is going. I haven’t been able to find it in stores for months. Finally had to order a case from a health food store of all places.
Ditto cake mixes. They’re hard to find and sometimes I just like to have a yogurt cupcake.1 -

Shortage of cans. They are concentrating on packaging best sellers.1 -
