I am excited for the next one! In the meantime, I am focusing on strength and recovery and food.
In some way, I feel like I have never been this tired in my life!
@Camaramandy648 I don't think I wanted to do anything for the next week after running my first marathon. I can't even imagine how much longer I'd be out with the extra miles. never gone past 43K personally
@deraffemikey06 DOOOOOOOOOO IT! you will feel ALIVE!
@Camaramandy648 I'm going to look for something not canceled. I'd prefer not to run a virtual 50K but I might not have any other choice. Hopefully I can find some actual race before next June2 -
Hey all. Just dropping in to cross post from FB group.
I have a favor if you want to do a virtual group run. I have always been obsessed with Scooby Doo and now there's a race. Virtual of course. They are giving free buffs to groups of 15 or more. I want a buff. So I made a group! You can do a 5 or 10k. Run or walk. You can also get your dog a bandana or collar. You know, if you are also a Scoob fan. TIA if you decide to register and join the team!
Details:
Team Code – this is a private code designated to your group. ALL group members (including yourself) must register using this following code and this code ONLY!
RUNSONESPRESSO
The team code will be entered on the last step of the registration process, during the page to complete your order.
Enter the code in the area provided for Coupon/Promo Code
Press apply to link the team code to the registration
Rates are $40 for the 5k and 10k
Please remind your group members if they are interested in participating on the team, it is mandatory that they sign up via the team code by August 13th. ALL runners from your group must be registered online by that date to be eligible for the exclusive Scooby Doo running buff – no exceptions.

@RunsOnEspresso That looks really cool. I always loved Scooby Doo as a kid. Is there a date that it is supposed to be run? I will have to check and see about entering. But hopefully I will know by August 13th if I will be able to do it.3

@Avidkeo here is some fresh bone x-rays...I need to have a Frank conversation with this doctor. He's room honest and tell me straight up, whether or not I'll ever run again. He seems to think my ambitious career change is probably going to be very difficult as far as physical demands. anyway I'll follow up with him in 3 weeks and we'll see where we are with the rest of my life

If you want to submit time & get the finisher certificate it needs to be completed by 10/4. Otherwise, whenever you want.1 -
Thanks for the kind and wise words everyone. You’re a lovely bunch! X3

lord... speech to text is worse than auto correct. corrected for clarity. (Don't speech to text in the schlotzsky's drive thru without checking first).
@Avidkeo That knee look off to you? I'm laying down, there's still swelling and its a bit uncomfortable to straighten. I can't help but think the tibia is rotated, and I have miserable malalignment syndrome. why not, right?3 -
@Camaramandy648 Wow happy first ultra! Good job!
@Faebert Yeah your brain can do crazy stuff to your body from emotional stress! You be careful out there with the tripping! Hoping you feel better soon.

@Faebert Biggest hugs to you. Totally understand.
@Camaramandy648 Thank god you are on my RTY team! Lol. Great running, congratulations!
@PastorVincent nice capture!
@kgirlhart prayers for your mammogram hoping it’s just routine. It’s happened to me too where I had to go back , scared me as well. Hugs.
45 min spin and 30 min strength cross training today.
Tomorrow will run, but probably on the treadmill again. Depends on morning temps.

@Camaramandy648 Congratulations on your marathon/ultra! I agree with @PastorVincent that running for 8 hours makes you insane.
@kgirlhart Glad your run wasn't terrible and you are enjoying morning runs. I'm beginning to like them too. Prayers that your follow up mammogram will be nothing to worry about.

I got up early again this morning to get my run in. I hit the snooze more than usual, so didn't get out to actually start until 8 am. It was 77°F with 79% humidity. So, not ideal conditions, but it wasn't horrible either. I had negative splits - except for mile 2. That was a miserable mile for some reason. I ran 4.5 miles. The first mile was 13:27 minutes, fourth was 12:54. I sped up for the last tenth of a mile, so the last half mile was at a 12:21 pace. I was pleased with that. Water and M&Ms after the first 1.5 miles and then every mile thereafter. That seems to work for these temperatures.
I weighed when I got up this morning. Had a banana and 2 cups of coffee before heading out to run. Drank 16 ounces of water during/after the run. When I changed clothes I weighed again and I was down almost a pound, so I estimate that I sweated out about 2.5 pounds. I know that I could have probably wrung sweat out of every piece of clothing I had on, including my socks.
With the mile walk, I traversed 5.5 miles today.

@Faebert so sorry about your tough year and your breakup on top of that. Hugs.
@Camaramandy648 wow. Just wow. Congratulations, ultra runner.
@kgirlhart hoping the best for your followup testing. I've had to do that too several times and its nerve-wracking.
@elise4270 sorry for your continued bone issues. Hope you will get some real answers - and that they don't include not ever running again.
@quilteryoyo great job getting your run done in the heat. How do you keep your M&Ms from being all melted?

Totally behind on my goal this month. Too many excuses and too little motivation. Went out for 5km this morning expecting it to be hot - it was, but there was a cool breeze most of the time so this run was actually semi-enjoyable. Pace was better than expected. This better than expected pace seems to have become a running (pun intended) theme these last few weeks. Interesting.
@Camaramandy648 What an achievement! Just thinking about it makes my knees quiver in fear.
@kgirlhart Sending some positive vibes your way.katharmonic wrote: »@quilteryoyo great job getting your run done in the heat. How do you keep your M&Ms from being all melted?3 -
Thanks, everyone for the congratulations etc! @hamsterwheel6 I might actually hit 2020 instead of 1200! We’ll see - I plan to not pressure myself about that. I pledged 1200 and hopefully will be satisfied with just that! 😂
@quilteryoyo I have the same question about the m&m’s! And good job getting out there even with the humidity! I know what it feels like and it is SO hard to make yourself do it sometimes.
I called in to work today because I have what feels like a mixture of allergies and this weird fatigue that is really abnormal for me. I don’t believe it is running related because I felt great this many days out from running 150 miles. I have a headache/ migraine that comes and goes. It is inconsistent. My nutrition is on point, so I don’t think it’s that either.
Work might have me go get a covid test. I really don’t think it’s that but what do I know? Oddly, my biggest annoyance is the idea of people saying, “it’s all that running you’re doing! I told you so!” Lmao
But seriously. This fatigue is the pits.4 -
i see a dnf in my future.
the 50k i haven't trained like i should because of the heat and depression. we were supposed to have rain but no rain now. about 350ft of elevation per 4.5mi loop. and i am supposed to keep a 17min/mile pace. it's going to be rough. but your not an ultra runner till you get a few dnfs under your belt right?
and i'm not running for fresh legs. but i'd really like to run. my brother-in-law is in the hospital. he drank his liver into failure. he's in his late twenties. he's following in my husband's footsteps. I've done what i can for the family but i can't imagine for my MIL going thru this again. and feeling a little helpless. running would help. but i want to give myself the best chance i can on saturday.12 -
@katharmonic and @noblsheep I run up and down my driveway, so I leave them in the garage and stop when I get there and grab some. Nothing magical there. LOL I do like them better than gummy bears. I'll need to think about a way to keep them from melting if I have to carry them. Humm.2

Just a thought...
Check your hydration (not pure water, you need salt too). It can take a few days to get that back on point. Drink a sports drink, if you start to feel better than you have your answer. The symptoms you describe can easily be that.1 -
@mbaker566 I'm so sorry about your brother-in-law and what your family is going through. I think if you feel up to it you might benefit from running even if you DNF. It's still a great accomplishment even if you only do a portion of it and sounds like it would be a good mental health break for you too.
@Camaramandy648 hope you feel better and that it's something like hydration/electrolytes that you can take care of. Give yourself a break to recover too.
@quilteryoyo ah, mystery solved. I have thought about strapping a mini cooler on my back to keep cold drinks and snacks in, lol. Maybe ice cream.

Stairs at the park today with a weighted pack, then a mace workout, then a short trail run. It was SO humid it felt hard to breath. I made the mistake of wearing flowier shorts rather than compression shorts and they were just soaked with sweat and clingy. I hate that. The trail run after was tough going - I did not want to do it, but I'm not sure I'll have any time to run later today so at least I got the minimum in.
While I'm on pace for my running miles goal of at least 120 for the month, I for some reason set an ambitious goal that I would add walking miles to get to a total of 240 for the month for a fundraiser I'm doing for the Sarcoma Foundation. I just calculated that I need 8-9 miles total of run/walk every day for the rest of the month. This...may not happen. I really hate to fail though so I will have to try to kick it up a notch.

Another 6 miles this morning. It was more humid today and the run felt so much harder. The first mile was tough going, but once I settled into the run I did enjoy it. The sky was really pretty once it started getting light out. It was a pretty uneventful run, but I'm always glad to get out there and get a run in. My feet are starting to get a little achy and my shoes have 344 miles on them, so I guess it's time to look for new shoes. I really want to get my gait checked again. Not for any real reason, but just because it has been a couple of years since I was fitted with shoes. I wouldn't mind trying something different, but I hate to buy shoes without having them fitted. But with Covid I don't want to travel for new shoes and the nearest running store is 60 miles away so I'll probably just end up going online and ordering the same shoes I always get.
@RunsOnEspresso Thanks. I'll have to see how the mammo goes next week. If we do a "wait and keep and eye on it" again then I may try to run that. I'm hoping a biopsy won't be necessary.
@hamsterwheel6 , @quilteryoyo , @katharmonic and @noblsheep Thanks for your well wishes.
@mbaker566 I'm sorry to hear about your BIL. I'm sure that's really hard to go through.

Congrats @Camaramandy648 - awesome achievement. Hope you are feeling a bit better.
Thinking of you @kgirlhart and hugs to you @mbaker566. Life feels complicated enough at the moment without additional curveballs.
Look after yourselves everyone. X0 -
@katharmonic Hahaha about the cooler. I don't have any of the toys that allow you to carry water with you yet. I need to get one. I was wondering if I had one of the belts if you could put a baggie with ice in it in the same pocket as the M&Ms and that would keep them from melting? Awesome workout, as always.
@Tramboman I hope you hip and back stop complaining about your playing golf and running. They just need to suck it up and behave.
