@avidkeo I'm so sorry to hear that. I was wondering about you and hoping that you were ok.

@avidkeo so sorry girl! I know what you mean about not checking this thread when injured. It is really depressing seeing everyone's runs and accomplishments and having to rest and recover with no running. But you'll be back!!

    Hey guys.

I got an official diagnosis for my calf, grade 2 gastrocnemius tear. Recovery is 6 weeks to 3 months. 😭

I miss chatting with you guys but I've realised my mental health is so wrapped up in running that it was getting to me hearing all your stories. Might be a bit silly but that's the reality.

I'll still check in, and cheer people on, but my life right now is rest and recovery. So frankly boring. You don't want to hear how much my exercise bike sux.

I've cancelled my events. And am mentally planning for a return.

    @Avidkeo
Best of luck on your recovery. Cancelling events is never fun. You'll be back!!

@Avidkeo hope you have a speedy recovery, and we will all be cheering you on, even if you do not check back in. Hope you come back soon.

@Avidkeo - biggest of hugs to you. I totally believe you will be back and smashing it as soon as you can. I had 3 months enforced break and managed to find my way back (and I was nowhere near the runner you are!!). Someone gave me some good advice and told me to see my recovery period in the same way as athletic training. Take it just as seriously, give yourself credit for ‘following the plan’, notice and celebrate each gradual improvement. Kind of helps with the mental aspect to reframe it slightly. X

Yikes it is super (record breaking) hot in London today. I set off early but not as early as I planned so it was hot and I was slow. Got the 10k done through and now home filling the paddling pool and drinking iced coffee. Happy days!

    August total: 19.5m
    August goal: 75m

    2/8: 2m interval training
    3/8: 5m
    4/8: rest (6 mile walk)
    5/8: 6.3m
    6/8: Strength training
    7/8: 6.2m

    July: 81m
    June: 78m
    May: 80 m
    April: 115 m
    March: 76.4 m
    February: 17.8 m

@Avidkeo That is the injury I had several years ago. I couldn't walk with mine - used crutches for a few weeks and then a boot. When I got out of the boot, I stepped in a hole in my yard and re-injured it. It was not fun, so I feel for you. I did do PT and that really helped. Take care of yourself. I like @Faebert 's advice.

Thanks, that's so true. Definitely helps to think of it that way.

Thanks everyone. That's why I miss being here so much!
