Squeezed out a tiny bit more running to get to 3 miles while out for a walk with Stella. It was a very slow run with lots of stops but it was something. We had a big heavy rain before this so it felt initially much cooler but the humidity seemed to build back up. Plus the bugs were horrible. I need to remember to wear bug spray when I head into the woods after a rain!

Looks like Sunday's long run needs to be at least 21 miles long. Should have started long runs again one week earlier
Or just run 85 miles tomorrow and be done with the month.
@PastorVincent that would be a huge mileage day pr . Might not be realistic for me
Ah, come on. You have run 8.5 right? Just do that 10 times.5 -
Thanks @RunsOnEspresso0

No run for me last night. I was so tired, so I decided a night reading in bed would be good since I’d probably fall asleep early. Of course, I then had trouble falling asleep and staying asleep...
Hugs to everyone that needs them.
Everyone, take care of yourselves in this heat!3 -

5 miles this morning (without any walk intervals). Hadn't done that since coming back from injury. Went ahead and did a sweat rate test, so no water during the run. Didn't get a full hour of running (only 48 minutes), but lost 2.5 lbs. Using a sweat rate calculator (from https://www.precisionhydration.com/) that equates to about 48 ounces/hr. I knew I sweated a lot (and lose quite a bit of sodium since my clothes and skin have white salt stains after a run), but didn't realize it was that much! I normally only drink 6 oz for an hour or 12 oz for long runs. This tells me I need to quadruple what I normally drink during a run! 😮

Somewhere near 90% humidity, 75 degrees, dew point 71 this morning. I ran 3 miles with a friend and then went back out for another 2, because I was already beyond sweaty so why not.
I saw this lovely heron while running along the canal

Thanks @PastorVincent ! I ordered a new bra and some tennis clothes. All of my tennis skirts are falling off when I play since I have lost weight. I've been needing to order some for a while. This was the push I needed to do it today.
@katharmonic Sounds like a real sweat fest. I decided on a treadmill run today instead of hot and humid. Love the heron.
@Tramboman Some of our trees are dropping leaves and fruit too. Hoping to get some much needed rain this afternoon.3 -

Morning all!
Thanks for the well-wishes! I think maybe I was just overtired? I slept a lot yesterday and made sure every meal I cooked was packed with nutrients. Kale and tomatoes from the garden, eggs (I know, I know, I can only claim *mostly* vegan because eggs), pineapple, etc. @PastorVincent I don't have a ton of "sports drinks," except tailwind, which I like to save for long runs, but I DID eat a gel to see if I felt better and oddly, fell asleep for almost three hours after. Was so grateful that aside from typical mothering, my kids are old enough to not be neglected when I fell asleep. They were totally fine!
I actually supremely enjoyed being home - cooking all the meals, laying in bed, watching movies with kids, sleeping when I felt like sleeping. I wish I'd get that very basic, low-level kind of sick more often! Or maybe just take more time off work, hahahahahahaha
I often see a heron when I run! His name is Winston.
@Tramboman - we have leaves and acorns falling too - I am ready for fall.
@Faebert - just want to tell you again - you are so strong and you will come out better on the other side. How you are feeling is temporary. Keep going. Like you always do!
Hope you are all well today!4 -

Still plugging along here. I found out on Monday that the Marine Corps marathon is cancelled this year so I’m trying to decide if I want to defer to next year and/or run it virtually or request a refund. I’m surprised that a refund is an option. I’m back working in the office so I’ve had less time to read and respond to everyone but I’ve liked and hugged where appropriate. Funny how I used to not think anything about 1 ½ hours of driving to and from work every day but since I worked from home for over 3 months and had gotten used to that extra time, it seems like such a burden now. Also having to pack my lunch the night before, eating in my windowless cubicle, putting on a mask to go to the bathroom or copier, going to a friend’s house to shower after morning run because none of our fitness centers are open yet, seems like a big PITA. I’m spending a lot of time in self-talk telling myself that I’m grateful to have a job and a pay check….. Thanks for letting me vent!

I ran 6 miles again this morning and it was ridiculously hot and humid. The first two miles I felt like I was running in slow motion. I did finally get into the zone, but it was a tough one. I am ready for a break from this heat. But August in Texas is usually no better and often worse than July so it will probably be a while. I was glad I got the run done though. I still would rather run than not run. But I would rather it be 55°F and not humid and not 77°F feels like 80 something with 90+% humidity.

@kgirlhart Great job getting out and running in those conditions.
@Teresa502 Sorry about the marathon. I'm surprised there is a refund options too. I finally decided to donate my AF HM to an airman for next year. I'll decide in January if I want to try again or not. Who knows, by then I may decide to do the marathon. LOL0 -

That is so sweet of you to donate and yes, you can totally do a marathon next year!2 -
Hello, still wimping out here with the heat and opting for the treadmill and spin.
Did 8 miles on the treadmill yesterday. The longest I've done on a treadmill actually - however, it wasn't so bad because I used the peloton app and did a couple of treadmill run workouts - made the time easier to bear listening and watching the very uhm good looking male instructors
Spinning today followed by strength training.
I'm actually glad for this heat wave - in a way it has given me a break. I think running the same few routes over and over and the mileage I was putting in was starting to take it's toll mentally and physically. This is a good change up for a bit (and I can still sleep in a bit!)
I'll get back out I'm sure.
Is Garmin down for everyone?
@Teresa502 I understand about the lost time going back to work...one of the few perks of this whole remote work/COVID circumstances. Sorry about the marathon. Looks like most will be canceled this year.
@kgirlhart I'll say it again - you an everyone else running in the heat - amazing. I will get back out there as well -just needed a break
@Tramboman How's the back?
@rheddmobile How's the knee?
@Elise4270 And you? How are you doing?
@Avidkeo Did you get your bike?

Back is how it's been and will no doubt remain that way for awhile.
I just got as tired of whining and crying about it as you all got having to read about it.
So *kitten* my cranky back, and my left hip and knee and my right hip and SI joint as well!!!!! *Kitten* my whole worn out 68 year old body.
But thanks to my running friends who keep me going.4 -
