07/15 …..209.6….. ENDING WEIGHT LAST ROUND
07/16 …..210.1 ….. I want to apologize for not being very engaging these past few rounds. There are some major changes going on in my life, some good, some full of turmoil, and my time has been limited and my efforts constantly disrupted. What I am facing could turn positive but it is going to take awhile for it to all come together. My diet and exercise has been completely thrown off-kilter no matter how hard I have tried to keep a good schedule. My usual walking plans of many, many miles per day has been non-existent. Covid has contributed but is not the main factor. I am saddened by this because summer is usually my most successful time of year due to walking, hiking and outdoor activity. I hope for resolution in the coming months, certainly by the end of the year. In the meantime, I will continue to hang around and do what I can, when I can. I know how important it is to my health. I just wanted to say I am sorry that I am not in a position to inspire at this time, but that I continue to be inspired by each and every one of you. I ask for your patience. I still have so much to learn from you all which I know will help when my life is back in order and I can get back in the game 100%. Thanks for your understanding and support.
07/17 …..210.0 ….. Thanks to everyone for all the well wishes and private emails too. It is truly appreciated during what is proving to be an especially challenging time. @quiltingjaine When I was a Postal worker years back and on my feet all the time, the gov’t recommended calcium, magnesium and zinc which we took in a 1 pill combo pill. It really did help with leg cramps, muscle soreness and all the things leg related. Of course, talk to your doctor if you have any concerns. It helped thousands of us, just in my building alone!
07/18 …..210.0 ….. Status Quo.
07/19 …..210.1 ….. Hopefully just a fluctuation.
07/20 …..210.0 …..
07/21 …..210.0 ….. No progress but no detriment either so I’ll take it (for now).
07/22 …..210.1 …..
07/23 …..210.0…..

Looking forward:
I'm just too danged cussed to let this thing knock me back, and ruin all the effort I have put in to get here. I am stepping up my routine, and taking control. Sheltering in place means I can fully concentrate on getting in my exercise, and preparing healthy food.
July: focus is on improving stamina, strength, flexibility, which may impact the scale
Aims:
- 2020: Goal is to stabilise weight around 145
- Strengthen strategies to reframe the tendency to use unhealthy snack food as a reward/treat.
- Make sure I have prepared healthy snacks available
- Cut down on eating between meals by keeping busy

THERE ARE NO QUICK FIXES OR SHORTCUTS to achieving permanent change.
REMINDERS One or two thoughts which might give heart to some of you.- Daily weight fluctuations are normal, and can be as much as 2 lbs a day for no apparent reason.
- A general downward trend is what we are looking for.
- Eating out can cause apparent weight gain because of high sodium levels, but usually goes quickly. Drinking extra water helps with this.
- The human body does not react instantly to what we do to it. Sometimes it can take several days to see results.
- Plateaus are a normal part of the process. The body is consolidating and adapting to your new way of eating/exercising.
- The closer you get to your goal weight, the more difficult it becomes to lose weight, as your body becomes more efficient at using what you feed it.
- When you exercise you build muscle, which takes up less space than fat, so use measurements as well as weight to assess your progress.
- Getting/Staying fit and healthy requires a lifestyle change for most people.

Day/Weight/Comment
07/16–179.4 Well, that just stinks! I did pretty much everything wrong yesterday, and it shows. I almost didn’t post here this morning. Almost didn’t weigh. But that’s what I do when I lose control and vanish from the board, so I decided to just own it and move forward. So that’s a positive, right? I’m hoping this drops off pretty quickly since it was a one day deal, but I know it will take a while to make progress beyond where I was at the end of Round 119. But it's all good. I'm still here and will not give up this time.
07/17–177.6 So, that’s real progress, but some of the damage remains, which is always true, isn’t it? Had a perfectly lovely morning hiking with granddaughter in a pack on my back to an enormous sunflower field. She loves riding on my back in that pack, and I love carrying her into some of my favorite places.
07/18–176.0 Finally some real progress. I’ll take it! I ate lots of fresh veggies and some fresh peaches yesterday along with a farm-raised filet mignon for dinner last night. Got in a good walk early yesterday morning. IF 16:8
07/19–175.6 Sure hope I can maintain control today and keep this trend going!
07/20–174.8 Summer vegetables and fruits from the farmer’s markets make this such a delicious time of year! I even worked in a little ice cream treat yesterday when it was 96 degrees here with humidity of like 1000%—such a scorcher! I’m learning it’s all about portion control and retraining my brain to stay away from, for me, these things: breads, heavy starchy foods (pasta, white potatoes, etc), and rich, saucy ways of cooking things—not necessarily eliminating them entirely, but avoiding them whenever possible. Our family’s favorite dessert right now is fresh fruit (last night was peaches and cherries) with a dollop or two of low fat vanilla yogurt on top. Onward and hopefully downward—one day at a time!
07/21–175.4 Part of the process. I had a rest day from planned exercise yesterday. I was just tired! Gotta get back on it today! But hey, I'm within 10 lbs of my first big goal! That's exciting.
07/22–175.8 This is my body being stubborn. Ate well and exercised a lot yesterday, so I was good with all that. Guess I could have drunk more water, so that is the goal for today.
07/23–175.0 Good day yesterday. Didn’t get derailed by the uptick from the day before. This is truly a mental game, isn’t it? Lots of exercise in spite of it being a sauna here right now. Walked early morning and late evening in addition to just staying busy during the day.
07/24–174.6 I felt great yesterday! I think the better food and extra exercise on a regular basis is starting to affect my overall wellness. I’m hiking in the Great Smoky Mountains today for the first time in months, and I cannot tell you how excited I am about that. I used to hike almost every weekend, but life responsibilities have gotten in the way, and I just don’t get to go very often anymore. I don’t normally lose when I hike though, so today’s weight could be my low for this round and that’ll be fine. :-)

07/16: 170.8; Had a rough workout yesterday that left me terribly over heated and dehydrated. Though my weight stayed low, I still don't think it's a true reflection of where I am. I'm guessing 171.8 or so...

07/21: 170.0 Whoosh... I guess 169.x is pretty close after all.
07/22: 168.2 Whoosh and round goal met. This is probably a blip from being a tad dehydrated from yesterday, but not completely wrong. I was surprised though as I had Chinese for dinner yesterday. Go me!
07/23: DNW, went to work early and just plum forgot. I'll catch it tomorrow!
07/24: 170.8 (TOM) I always bump up 2-3 pounds during this phase of the moon. I still think I hit goal this round.

Round 120
Month/Day: Weight / Comment
07/16: 212.4 / Starting this round at my average for last round. NSV: yesterday I actually reached my hand out to pick up a 2nd donut at work, and then pulled it back. Thought about how it might affect my 10-day challenge. Wish I could be that way all the time. Does anyone else feel obligated to take a donut or cookie that someone else brings in to share at work? I do not want to hurt their feelings or put-down their act of kindness. I think I am actually wrong about this.
07/17: 212.0
07/18: 211.8 / I will happily take this, since I did not weigh until mid day after fishing all morning. Left the house at 3:45 am. Drank a lot of water. Tomorrow will be higher. I may need a nap. 😊
07/19: 213.8
07/20: 215 / Another weekend with DW family as house guests. Throw a family reunion in there for good measure. I made awesome Kabobs yesterday (So I am told.) Sous Vide the steak and finished it on the grill with the veggies. Another festival of salt these past two days.
07/21: 211 / I feel like a pufferfish . ( https://www.nationalgeographic.com/animals/fish/group/pufferfish/ )
07/22: 211 / I rarely weigh the same on two days in a row. Let’s bump it down a notch for tomorrow.
07/23: 210 / I would be somewhat happy if this would develop into my normal high-end of a maintenance range (noun). As you can see by the numbers, my weight ranges (verb / 3rd person present. I had to look that up. Ha!). Now is the time to fight the tendency to let up because I am “doing so well.”

(Within my MFP calorie limit of course) Really enjoyed a serving of red-skinned potatoes topped with steamed broccoli and an extra serving of the hub's chicken from the smoker. Walked prior to donation and only a short walk in the evening.
07/21: 170.7 Walked 3 miles in the heat; uphill both ways (lol); grateful to make it back to my door--and my fitbit did not automatically sync to show my calories earned--and didn't sync all day! So disappointing, not that I eat them back anyway but I just like to smell them.:)
07/22: 170.7 Three days with the "0" = YAY! Clearly a plateau in the works though. I'm going to do my own version of the "Naked and Afraid" program. Think I will call it "Fluffy and Staid". (Dictionary.com had a few definitions for staid, so I selected "serious-minded"!) My goal is so close I can taste it--who's with me? Let's push!
07/23: 170.5 Never worked so hard for 2 oz in my life. Still fluffy; Still staid! Doing it all again today!
07/24: 170.9 Think the old bod is on to the walking every day routine. Today is a back to the gym day. That will shake the fluff up! Still hopeful to dip the toe into the 160's this round, but there is always next round thanks to @GrandmaJackie !

Eeeek! Salt.
7/17 - 181.4
I’m sitting in my garden and just had a close encounter with a ruby-throated hummingbird who hovered about 2 feet from my face for a few seconds. Several gold-finches are flitting around the Black-eyed Susans, coneflowers, and sunflowers, and sparrows are picking up nesting material (aka weeds and grass) I pulled out of the beds and tossed on the lawn. And no lawn mowers! Just birdsong and cicadas. Off for a walk now, and I have today’s menus all planned. Have a lovely Friday, all.
7/18 - 181.4
Snacked a little last night — popcorn — but I’m keeping calories under control. I’m itching to dig new beds in the garden but we’re under a heat advisory the next couple of days so maybe not. I’ll get an early walk in, though. Yay, Saturday!
7/19 - 181.8
Muggy Sunday! At least there’s a breeze. My garden seems pretty happy! Be well, everyone.
7/20 - 181.4
Ok, back on track. It’s a gorgeous day here, so I’m off for a walk, then working on taking out lawn on the side of the house. Planning to fill it up with mostly natives plus some colorful annuals (sunflowers, zinnias....). The less lawn, the better— that’s my motto! 🌻🌸🌱
7/21 - 181.2
Another beautiful day unfolding here. Right now I’m sitting in my garden watching hummingbirds courting, a bunny munching clover, sparrows redecorating a nest in the maple, and listening to a hawk I can’t spot in the bright sky. I really should get up and do something. Oh wait! I am doing something! Have a lovely, everyone.
7/22 - 181.2
Sticking to the plan pretty much. Sure was easier to put it back on than to take it back off!
7/23 - 183.2
Aww, come on. I almost didn’t record this! I know this is water — can’t gain 2 lbs of fat in a day — but I don’t know why. I haven’t had a high sodium day in a while. So frustrating. My fat cells really do think this is about where we belong, apparently. Gaaa! I really want to hit <180 — or close — this round and I’ve stayed on track for the most part. Going to beat up a few bags of top soil in my new garden bed.

End of round 115: 235.2
End of round 116: 232.0
End of round 117: 228.6
End of round 118: 227.6
End of round 119: 224.6
An early victory to start the round: I woke up early this morning and decided to go for a walk to jump start my exercise for the day. 2.33 miles, 284 active calories burned.
7/16: 223.6 Finally some weight dropping off in the last few days, after several days of up and down but overall staying about the same.
7/17: 224.4 I was within my calories yesterday, but most of them were near the end of the day. And I had dropped a lot in the last few days, so it’s not surprising that it’s up a bit as that whoosh balances out. I also like days like today where my scale weight is right on the trend line - feels like it’s finally showing my “true” current weight through all the normal fluctuations.
7/18: 223.6 Back to the low from two days ago and smoothing out yesterday’s bump.
7/19: 223.6 Seems to be the number of this round.
7/20: 223.8 Yesterday was one of those days where I ate within my calories, but completely unhealthy: my two main meals were a fast food burger and pizza. (Stayed within calorie limits by ordering the junior burger and only having two slices of pizza.) Also didn’t move as much as usual because my dad and I got started on a board game that takes a while; we’ll be playing more today but I plan to get up once an hour and at least walk around a bit.
7/21: 222.8 Recently I read that according to one early study, a BMI of 30 or above was associated with a higher risk of complications from COVID, and a BMI of 35 or above was associated with a higher risk of death. As of today, I am below a 35. Hovered right above it for a few days, so it feels good to have gotten here.
7/22: 221.8 I’ve lost 20 pounds! Same pattern from last week repeated here: several days around the same weight with a bobble up and back down at one point, and then all of a sudden two days in a row with a full pound drop. I can live with that.
7/23: 222.0 Had a restaurant meal for dinner, but I planned for it and ordered something that fit in my calories. Also an active day, with a brief bike ride in the morning and an extended swim (100 laps) in the evening.
7/24: 222.0 Was up later than usual and snacked on a bunch of cashews - not nearly as bad a late night snack as it could have been, but still ate up most of my deficit. I stayed below maintenance, though, so win!

7/16 116.0 Last month we donated blood and subsequently learned we are slightly anemic. 2 weeks ago the doctor told me to start taking 1 iron tablet a day and to increase my magnesium. Well, there is a battle royals waging in my belly for the last several days and I’m afraid to leave the house - if you get my drift! Today I’m planning on taking nothing but my BP meds and fasting until 4 at least - that’ll be a 24 hour fast. Only black coffee and water.
7/17 116.0 Three year keto-versary! This WOE has improved my labs each time they have been checked. My blood pressure is down and I’m 51 pounds lighter than I was. Unfortunately, due to COVID I’m not comfortable at the gym where people still don’t wipe down the equipment and cancelled my paid membership yesterday. I can still go as part of my insurance plan but not use the extras.
7/18 115.5 Yesterday must have been steak day! I see several of us on this thread had steak. We split a T-bone. Back in the day I would have eaten the whole thing by myself-it was just over a pound including the bone. I had a few Brussels sprouts and about a cup of broccoli - OMAD! And we ate “dinner” early - before 3.
7/19 117.0 We ate at Great Greek yesterday. Delicious temporary weight gain! I always go up after Greek salad and gyro meat. And today we have plans for lunch with neighbors - Chinese take out - haven’t had Chinese in MONTHS! 91 degrees with 10% humidity at 8 AM, going for a high of 112 today.
7/20 118.5 Neighbor treated us to take out Chinese. Need I say more? This too shall pass. No worries.
7/21 120.0 A carb filled day of leftovers which are now going in the trash. 4 days of carbs = 4.5 lbs Back on the plan today. I’ve got this!
7/22 118.5
7/23 118.0 Our daughter had a rotator cuff repair yesterday so I’m off the “baby”sit while her husband takes youngest granddaughter to an appointment.

@HoopsGuy72 Thank you. You can’t keep a good woman down and she’s a do-er. Fortunately(?) the current pain reminds her to be careful. She’s a teacher and at a new school in a new grade for her this coming year and all remote learning. It will be hard with her dominant arm tied down.2

Tuesday 07/21 - 147.4 - Wow, first time touching that number. Even if it is just a fluctuation, I am pleased.
Wednesday 07/22 - 147.0 - Almost can't believe it. Not that I haven't been working very hard at this weight loss, just that my hard work seldom pays off like this.
Thursday 07/23 - 146.1 - Not sure what is going on, maybe I am sweating off the weight in the heatwave? I haven't changed any of my eating or exercising.
Friday 07/24 - 146.8 - Had Ribs and cocktails last night. Hoping that for the end of this 10 it doesn't go even higher from the one day of extra eating and drinking. I will workout more today and eat lightly.

Day/Weight/Comment
07/16 181.2 Boo. When will I start dropping real weight again?
07/17 180.4 Ok, this is better. All week I’ve been on track for food and getting my walks and weights in. Now need to keep on track over the weekend. The weekend backtracking has been self-defeating.
07/18 179.2 Wow, awesome.
07/19 180.4 Not surprising; I ate extra as I’m on clear liquid diet today (Medical check tomorrow).
07/20 Doesn’t Count
07/21 179.4 Thought maybe I’d retain a bit more of the procedure loss, but that’s ok. Happy Scale is under 180 even for the averages, so I’m happy!
07/22 179.2 Still in the 17X decade! Sticking to my calorie targets and keeping the exercise. Went a bit easier with the weights yesterday (2 sets, not 4) but otherwise on point.
07/23 179.8 Was expecting a little more off, but still 17X, I’ll take it.
07/24 179.8 Same actions as yesterday (green for calories, good for exercise) same results. But at least it’s not higher!

Height: 5’9”
Age: 31
Round Start: 136.7
Round Goal: 135.0
Final Goal: 130.0
07/16 - 136.3
07/17 - 135.7
07/18 - 135.2 | Losing weight much quicker than I expected, maybe being too strict on calories? Feeling super tired pretty much all the time, but I also have a newborn child, so I was previously just chalking it up to that.
07/19 - 134.7 | Even consumed a decent number of calories yesterday, still came down more than expected. Also not drinking a ton of water, so that might be part of it.
07/20 - 136.2 | Yeah, I think the lack of water the last few days was a mirage. Gonna get back on track!
07/21 - 134.7 | I guess yesterday was a weird blip. Back down to the weight from the day before. Made the famous low calorie protein powder cheesecake from the recipe section of these forums. While not particularly delicious, it is surprisingly filling for the calorie count (mine, with blueberries, is ~200 calories per serving). Eating that for breakfast around 8:00am has (so far) kept me from wanting a morning snack until lunch comes.
07/22 - 134.3
07/23 - 134.0 | Was terribly tired/starving yesterday afternoon, so I'm glad the scale threw me a tiny bone for my troubles. Actually not 100% sure my scale was properly calibrated when I started this thing, but I think it is now, so we'll see what kind of pace I'm on in the next round.
07/24 - 134.0 | Forgot to weigh myself first thing in the morning, so not exactly an apples-to-apples comparison with the other days, but at least it didn't go up.

End of Round 119: 172.8 (-4.8#)

07/23: 171.2- not worried about the little gain. I stayed within my calorie goal and exercised. I'm still feeling good!
07/24: 172.4- I refuse to become discouraged. I'm following the plan and exercising. I know that weight flunctuates from day to day so I'm keeping my focus set on the bigger picture. I'm doing good things for myself and making progress in other ways, like getting stronger. It's not always about the number on the scale.💪

07/24 …..210.0 ….. I suppose I should take some comfort in the fact that I’m holding things steady in light of the storms & whirlwinds in my life right now. I hope to refocus in the coming weeks. In the meantime, I am okay and hanging in there continuing to support and gain inspiration from you all!

07/18 162.2 I expected a little rise in weight since we had really salty Indian food last night. I'll drink a lot of water today and go for another long walk.
07/19 162.2 I cleaned outside windows. Holy moly that's tough. Then we watched Saving Mr. Banks, so we needed to have English tea. You know - with cream and sugar.
07/20 163.2 Workout at 12:30 (339 calorie burn) and cleaning. I don't know what's left to clean, but I'll find something. Then I need to meal prep because I don't trust myself any more.

07/21 162.2 Walked today before my class. I'll walk again afterwards. I did meal prep yesterday, so I'm all set for today.

Day/Weight/Comment
07/16 - 327.8
07/17 - 329.7 - doing alt. day intermittent fasting means I'll have an uptick in weight every other day. I expect it and am prepared. I'm so prepared that if I lose too much too quickly, I'll change from a 4:3 to a 5:2 fasting pattern. But so far, so very good.
07/18 - 326.8 - As expected, down a pound from 2 days ago. Since July 6th, down almost 14 lbs. Alt. day IF really has kickstarted my losses after being stuck on a plateau for almost 7 weeks.
07/19 - 329.3 - Right where I expected to be. With 4:3 fasting, my weight should be slightly up after the weekend, then back down after the fasting days. Instead of measuring on a day-to-day basis, a better measure for me will be on a week-to-week basis.
07/20 - 329.9 - And another slight uptick after 2 days of eating. Not a problem, since last Monday I weighed in at 332.5. As long as I keep my weight around the 2 lb. loss per week mark, I'm happy.
07/21 - 328.5 - Down about 3 lbs. from previous week.
07/22 - 328.4 - I wish it were a bit more, but this is one day after eating. If I'm under tomorrow what I weighed on the 16th (one week ago), I'll be quite happy.
07/23 - 326.2 - There we go. After a full 40+ hours of fasting, the drop starts again.
07/24 - 328.3 - a 2 lb. uptick from yesterday, since that was an *eat* day. But down 1.4 from the previous week.
