I so needed to see this today. Im currently topping the sales at 17stone. I've never been skinny but since having my daughter 11months ago (I put on 5stone) I just cannot shift the weight. I speed walk nearly everyday and tend to do at least 3miles (often its 9miles) but still nothing is working. Im getting so disheartened6

@KeriA sorry about your job....hope you have some good options coming your way xx1

@KeriA
I'm so sorry you lost your job. I know you had plans to retire soon, just not this soon. I wish good things for you - whether that be a decision to officially retire now or a new promising career. And congratulations on getting below 250!! That was a huge milestone for me. So many things have a 250 pound weight limit - chairs, step ladders, even exercise equipment! Getting below that number made me feel like a normal fat person - like the difference between Morbidly obese and plain old obese on the BMI scale. You conquered that milestone and now Onederland is not too far off. I hope you have a great time at the coast. Walking along the coast always centers my soul and helps me put things in perspective.4 -
@mandti7213 - I'm glad you found inspiration here. Speaking for myself, finding this monthly thread may have been the major reason that I have logged all my food consistently for over 400 days (and lost 114 pounds in the process). Having a place to state my goals publicly and then account for them publicly was a game changer. It took away my shame. And I found support and some great advice. And it helped me be accountable to myself.
I'm glad you found an exercise you love and I encourage you to keep it up. Just remember that eating more calories than you burn is the only way you can lose fat. When I started trying to lose weight, I hadn't been exercising already, and I didn't add it at first. Eating at a deficit was hard enough on its own (at least in the beginning - it does get easier - I promise), so I just concentrated on that for a while. If you aren't already tracking your food, I'd encourage you to do so. Best of luck to you!4 -
@speyerj - that's exactly it. I work in healthcare, and with a fairly tight-knit group of people, so we're all up in each other's business a lot of the time, but I just never quite know what to say. It's a good thing scrub pants have drawstrings though, or else I'd have to do some shopping.
and that's awesome you started running around my same weight! didn't you just do a half-marathon? super inspiring! I'd love to build up to that kind of mileage. and I love that idea, to start with determination, end with satisfaction. I don't even really hate running now, although I do wish it wasn't so dang hot.
@AlexandraFindsHerself1971 - your cat is adorable, by the way.

Countdown to the end of the year: 21 weeks
Loss at 1 lb/week: 163
Countdown to Wedding Season: 39 weeks
No loss, and I get why. I've gone a little overboard with sugar, haven't logged it, and I haven't been getting my 10k steps every day. It's too hot to go during the day, and work has been crazy, so I haven't gotten out in the early morning, just started straight away at work.
The way I was able to do it before was: get up at 4, walk for an hour before the sun got up (that would get me around 5-6k steps), then do the rest late in the afternoon. It's a big time consumption, 2 hours a day, but I really don't walk much around my house, just do chores and watch kids. I have been walking some- half an hour to an hour a day, just not enough for 10k steps. And I am still lifting, so there's that.
At least I didn't gain. Weight loss is a marathon, and there will be setbacks. Goal for this last week of July- lose something. Log everything. Stick to that sugar goal. I'm not going to make goal weight this month, and that's fine. I'll take progress. And my highest weights during ovulation are two pounds lower than they were last month, so I am making progress.
Quick tags:
@KeriA I love your attitude about this. You're a lovely and strong person, and no matter what happens with your future job situation, I know you'll handle it with grace.
@mandti7213 Welcome! Weight loss is made in the kitchen, so logging your food will help a lot. Your walking game is strong, that's great!
Have a great day, everyone! I'm going to go throw out those Oreos I bought for the girls, but they don't eat them, so the oreos are a me trap. Same with that homemade frosting in the fridge...4 -

My goal for this month was to just get back on track with my awareness of eating/healthy eating. I have been doing intermittent fasting, and calorie deficit. I have a hard time finding ways to work out, which is a struggle for me. I most recently broke my thumb so I’m still in a splint, and just this past winter I had broken my foot and was no weight bearing for 3 months. I have also had 2 knee reconstruction surgeries! I’m a clumsy hot mess 😂. That being said, I love to hula hoop and hike, that was what really helped me lose my weight last time I began this journey..so this month I plan on trying to get back into my hoop 😊 I hope everyone enjoys the last week of July, and hit all your goals!8 -

@KeriA Sorry to hear about the job. I'll bet they'll regreat the loss of your expertise. Get the word out to anyone in your network and let them know you're interested in new opportunities ... it might be a pleasant surprise what's available; perhaps something you would not normally consider but would be a good fit. Would you be interested in teaching? Schools are coming up with smaller classrooms, pods, and other creative ways for the coming school year. In my area, I taught college night class in word processing -- college did not require teaching certification if you had the skill set. Or, maybe a work from home situation? Going to the beach seems to be perfectly timed ... you can relax, kick ideas around, think about what you'd like to do next.
@mandti7213 Welcome. I go back to basics. Weigh & Measure everything. LOG everything! Drink 10-12 glass of water every day. Keep carbs and sodium as low as you can. Log your exercise but do NOT eat back all the additional calories ... maybe eat back 50%. If you honestly do all of the above and don't see a loss in 2 weeks, there may be other issues.
@puboochu Welcome. Perhaps check out some of the YouTube exercise videos. They have something for everyone. I particularly like a chair yoga called: Chair Yoga to Loosen up your Back! Stretching the Diamond with Sherry Zak Morris

Hi all!
I've been lurking around for a while, and figure it is about time to jump in.
SW: 257 (June 2019)
CW: 201.6
GW 1: Get below 200
GW 2: 170's (with mini goals at every 10 lbs in between).
UGW: TBD
I'm coming off of a much needed 2 week diet break, and am getting a little anxious to break past 200 lbs. I'm hoping I'll see 199 in the next week or so!

Hitting the 100s is such a big accomplishment! Congrats, you’re so close!!4

Just felt like checking in and setting some intentions for this last weekend in July.
My SW of 225 has stayed the same (it's fluctuated but always gone back up to 224 or 225) all month despite my best efforts but as per the tons of great advice I've received on this thread, I will not let it get me down. I'm staying focused on my original goal for the month, which was to really commit to consistent exercise and celebrate the process of getting stronger instead of getting discouraged about the scale not moving. Maybe it's going to take three months for me to lose a single pound, I dunno. All I know is that I won't give up and as long as I keep eating at a calorie deficit, tracking everything, and working out, I'll feel better than I did six months ago even without the scale moving.
I went for a good swim today and will do some sort of YouTube workout on Sunday. I'll keep intermittent fasting as it's been so easy for the past few weeks. I really want to bump up my protein and fiber, so I'll be tracking those carefully.
So my intention for this weekend is to trust my struggle. To keep on keeping on.

Forgot to weigh this morning, which is irksome. (I weigh daily to watch the fluctuations and so I don't get afraid of the scale.) However, I couldn't finish my chips at lunch, and I only wound up eating two small wraps of carnitas with grilled peppers and onions for dinner, with no sides. I had a third, but I was full. So that's definitely the way I want things to go.
The cats' names, for anyone who cares, are Hana (tabby and white) and Nyx. Hana is a round short-legged plump little girl with a round face who likes to watch squirrels and sleep, sometimes on people. Nyx is the one in my icon she is long and lean and sleek and black, with copper-gold eyes. She likes to watch birds, and is always "helping" by sitting on the item I was about to iron, lounging on the clean laundry, and racing me up the stairs.7 -
Happy Saturday, everyone!!!
Happy for me since I’m headed in the right direction, finally‼️
July has been a challenging month for me. I really enjoyed my July 4th weekend and it showed on the scale. Then an emergency surgery which has derailed my fitness program but, I’m going to push through. I won’t make my July goal but as long as I have a net loss, I’m good. I’m at less than 26 lbs to my goal❣️

7/22 187 (-1.6)
7/25 185.6 (-1.4)
July GW: 180
UGW: 160 (25.6 lbs to go)
Weekly Goals:
✅ Continue hydrating with 100 oz/day
✅ Continue daily walks, increase to 2X per day
✅ Maintain current nutrition plan. Ensure each meal is 1/3 protein
Hopefully, I’ll get a good doctor report Monday and I can up my exercise routine.
Have a GREAT WEEKEND❣️7 -
Good morning! I'm going out today to get more keys cut for our new house, and going to work on the subtleties of effective arrangement of my pantry room. It's not just whether everything fits in, it's whether it has a proper place in there, where it can be found and used and replaced.2
