07/26 DNW, but it’s good to be back at a deficit and so much easier after the break. I’d been struggling a bit before, so I’m hoping the reset helps with adhering to my diet. I didn’t weigh in this morning because I was camping last night. First weigh in will be tomorrow.
07/27 202.6. I’m pretty happy about this since it was what my last and lowest weigh in was before the diet break. I’ve only been back at a deficit for two days.
07/28 200.8. Wow. I expect it will bump up a bit since that's the way the process goes, but I'm really glad that the break I took didn't derail me from losing.
07/29 199.6. Yay! I have not seen this number in five years. At some point it's going to bump back up a bit, but soon enough I won't ever see the 200s again.
07/30 200. Glad I got to see the 190s before the bump up. Probably will see them again this round.
07/31 200.4
08/01 200.6. NSV: Jeans I've been wanting to wear that couldn't be gotten past my hips July 15 can be buttoned as of today. One of my goals is to fit comfortably into them by Labour Day. I haven't been able to wear them since the fall of 2014.
08/02 202. Ate above maintenance yesterday.
08/03 203.4. Monday is almost always the highest day of my week. Extra carbs and eating at maintenance on weekends are the reason. I'll be back at a lower weight by Friday (usually my lightest day of the week).

7/26: 235.2 (+1.6)/20.2 (+0.2). I had some company over last night (social-distancing on the outdoor patio), and I had a "cheat-meal" and three drinks. The meal was more of a quantity issue than quality; I'm going to treat it like the "slip" it was. I have another "outing" this evening (outdoor social-distancing visit) with my wife at my brother-in-law's home. I'm not sure what we're eating, but I'm going to go into it with portion control (and no more more than a drink or two) in mind.
7/27: 235.8 (+0.6)/20.2 (0.0). I went to with my wife to my brother-in-law's yesterday, and "it could have been worse." I had a couple of drinks, I ate reasonably (probably 1.5 times what I would have had if I was alone), and it's really hard to stay on target when I'm not completely in control of everything. Spending time with others twice in a short weekend (every other weekend is three days for me) is unusual. I'm going to be 100% on-plan for the next five days (including this one). Let's see how long it takes to get back to where I was this past Friday. I'm adjusting my goal for this week, hoping that I can end up where I started at the end of last challenge.
7/28: 234.8 (-1.0)/20.1 (-0.1). It always feels good to see the scale move in the right direction. I stuck to my plan 100% yesterday, I had lots of water, and I got lots of rest. My back is feeling MUCH better, although it's "tender" in one spot that does not make much sense to me. I used Salonpas on it a couple of times, in that one spot, but I haven't used it for at least four days. It remains very sensitive in that one spot, but not sensitive in a "back pain" sort of way. It feels almost like I had a really bad sunburn, but only in that spot. Nothing is swollen, and the area has no discoloration or redness. Maybe it's time to contact my doctor.
7/29: 233.4 (-1.4)/20.0 (-0.1). Ah, the beginning stages of weight loss! It's so much fun to be able to make up for a "slightly bad" weekend with two days of sticking to my plan. And, as write this, I understand that this is not usually how it works. In my life, it takes 2-3 times the effort to counteract the effects of any one "moment." Remembering this helps keep me on track. It keeps me from grabbing for that last drink, from eating that last bite, and from sometimes engaging in behaviors that are not consistent with my goals. Thank you to everyone who has expressed concern about my back (and about me in general). I'm seeing my chiropractor today, so hopefully I'll have some good news tomorrow. As always, when I'm in this group, I feel loved.
7/30: 233.0 (-0.4)/19.9 (-0.1). I slightly oversnacked last night, but I was overall on-point and sticking to my plan. I also made it to the chiropractor yesterday. I actually had a bit of a lower back spasm while I was on the table, but he was still able to adjust me, so I'm hopeful my back will get back to normal soon. He didn't seem concerned about my "sensitivity" in that area of my lower back. He said that Salonpas is known to cause some skin/soft tissue irritation; plus, it seems to be feeling less sensitive every day. Other good news: I'm having a pool table installed on my covered patio tomorrow morning, and I'm getting a table tennis "top" for it soon, so I should have some reasons to get off my @$$ soon. I miss basketball, and I miss going to the gym, but I really need to get my body moving. Sad news: I went to see my "brother" yesterday (my mother's 15-year-old American Eskimo), probably for the last time. My poor little old man can barely walk, but he's absolutely beautiful (he looks like he's 4 or 5 years old). I said my goodbyes, but I'm quick-to-tears today thinking about him.
7/31: 232.4 (-0.6)/19.9 (-0.1). My pool table is being installed as we speak, which I'm excited about. Sticking to my diet is working out to be pretty easy at the moment, but exercise has been much harder to "work back in." I did not talk with my mother yesterday about her dog, so I think I'll check in with her today. I'm a little bit scared that I'm going to get some bad news, but I know it's the right thing to do. I'm trying to get better at dealing with death and grief.
8/1: 230.8 (-1.6)/19.7 (-0.2). Two weeks in, 10.2 lbs down (wife is down 3.0, but has much less to lose than I do). This weekend is a three-day weekend for me (I get every other Monday off); my niece's birthday party is Sunday, and my in-laws are coming over Monday (all events outdoors, with masks, and socially-distanced). This means increased temptation(s) and lack of complete control regarding my food intake. I'm going to try to change the narrative of what a "weekend" means for me (I love "The Weeknd" by the way). I will have a drink or two tomorrow, but that's it; and my brother is pretty good at generally encouraging portion control, even without me asking. On Monday I will not drink at all, and I think I can get away with eating my own food (my wife can get/make something for the in-laws if she wants to). I'll have a little bit (very small portion) of dessert at the birthday party, but likely none with the in-laws. I still haven't uncovered or played with my pool table, but that is definitely going to happen today. I hope everyone has a great weekend!
8/2: 230.6 (-0.2)/19.7 (0.0). I had three glasses of wine last night (maybe 3.5) while my wife and I broke in our pool table, but I also skipped a snack I would have normally had. I'll count that as breaking even (or close to it). I am still undefeated on my new pool table; my wife "had" me one game (had a shot at the eight ball, but knocked it and the cue ball in for a game-ending scratch), but I pretty much kicked her butt the rest of the night. It's my niece's birthday party tonight, and my brother apparently ordering take-out sushi for everyone. Yes, my 8-year-old niece loves sushi. The great news is they're ordering from a place has pretty clear nutritional information, so I know what I'll be eating tonight (which drastically improves my ability to "plan for it"). I'm feeling a little different today, in a good way; I think my face is just starting to thin out. My next NSV would be to be able to comfortably button my shorts. I can currently get them closed, but I am far from comfortable doing so. I also think I'm ready to get back on the exercise wagon. I'll start by dusting off the rowing machine to see if I go for 5-10 minutes. I'll shoot for every other day for the next couple of days, and see how that feels. On my "off" days I'll try to do some resistance exercises. I really wish my gym was open. It's so much easier for me to get a comprehensive workout there.
8/3: 231.4 (+0.8)/19.8 (+0.1). I went a little heavy with Sushi last night, I had two beers, and I shared a giant piece of cake with my wife (which I chose NOT to finish). It's still the weekend, though, so it's always going to be tough. I'm going to fast until lunch today. My in-laws are coming over, and bringing lunch or dinner with them. I am going to do my best to REALLY control things. So far I'm up less than one pound for the weekend, which is not bad, especially considering that I had a night of drinking Saturday and a party yesterday.

Medium range goal - I turn 60 in early October, so the goal is to be under 300. It would mean I've lost over 100 lbs. in just under a year AND first time under 300 since my late 40's.

Day/Weight/Comment
07/26 - 326.9 - Huge uptick. Overate yesterday and my last meal got me sick and bloated. Not sure if it was undercooked (ribs) or something else, but I'll be preparing them differently next time.
07/27 - 329.0 - Strictly an excess of calories over the weekend. Prolly why I felt ill over the weekend (too much food). I'll be interested to see how much I drop by Saturday weight-in, since it normally reflects the largest, final, end-of-the-week drop.
07/28 - 324.2 - I knew it would drop, but with two small workouts (one aerobic, one weights), the drop was more than I hoped. I'm almost back to where I was Saturday morning. Sometimes you just find the *thing* that clicks and works for you. Over the years, like SO many, I've tried a variety of things. And then I just stumbled across intermittent fasting. I started with the standard 16:8 and slowly moved over to 20:4. I began watching Dr. Jason Fung, who is probably the formost authority on the subject and he spoke of alt. day IF. I worked up the nerve to try it. For someone that LOVES to eat, like I do, it was ALOT of nerve. I'm now starting my fourth week. Per Dr. Fung, there is no reason why the loss won't continue. Now down about 15 lbs. in those 3+ weeks. A little fast, but one by-product is that the loose skin gets eaten from autophagy/ketosis. And there are numerous other health benefits, too, not just the weight loss. I'm just very excited that something works that doesn't limit the foods I eat
07/29 - 327.7 - I always expect the uptick the day after eating. A little high since I drink so much in the morning, but I'm still OK since the weekly trend is down. I try to focus only on the Saturday weigh-in week over week.
07/30 - 323.5 - And the beat goes on... I'm gonna be close to making my medium range goal, but just losing 100 lbs. seems so distant.
07/31 - 324.6 - Only a 1 pound uptick. Looks like I might have a shot at making my goal for this round, IF I can get in 2 workouts before tomorrow's weigh-in. Made it to the gym this afternoon. Got a decent back workout in, plus 30 mins. on an eliptical (@ 75% heart rate 161 bmp max x .75 = 121 avg.)
08/01 - 322.6 - Not quite there, but I've still got 3 days. The good part is that the last weigh-in day is right after a 42 hour fast.
08/02 - 326.7 - OK, not happy about the uptick, but if there is little rise tomorrow, then I'll be ok. I like going to the gym very early, like before 6AM, but on weekends it doesn't open until 7AM, which does not work for me. I'll have to think of ways to change my plan.
08/03 - 324.0 - Well... that's a welcome surprise. After 2 days of eating, I'm only up 1.6 lbs., yet down 2.7 from yesterday.

Goal for Round 121 - 57.0kg
Day/Weight/Comment
7/26 - 57.3kg, back on track yesterday and today, I felt awful after eating all the junk on Friday, thanks for the hugs :-)
7/27 - 57.0kg already at goal for this round but the challenge will be to maintain it!
7/28 - 57.0kg, holding steady, not much walking because I'm dog-sitting 24/7 and she is not allowed to walk :-/
7/29 - 56.9kg, back to where I was a week ago... where to from here? I need to do some yoga to stay fit...
7/30 - 56.7kg, that's 125 pounds! Yay! Yoga is a must do so I need to quit fobbing it off.
7/31 - 56.8kg, too much chocolate yesterday, although I do recommend the Tunnocks Caramel wafer, only 130 calories...
8/01 - 57.3kg, ugh, couldn't stop eating, could it be the carbs. Sick of logging food so didn't.
8/02 - 57.4kg, another crappy day with unbridled eating, so am cutting out carbs for a bit and not logging starting today
8/03 - 57.3kg, tentatively back on track now. Not logging again but keeping it real.
8/04 – 56.7kg, big drop which may not last but I've finished the round better than expected.
I'm switching to maintenance now and think weighing everyday is too tedious. I'm grateful for this challenge and will definitely step back in if things get out of hand. Thanks to everyone for all the support!8 -

I'm just too danged cussed to let this thing knock me back, and ruin all the effort I have put in to get here. I am stepping up my routine, and taking control. Sheltering in place means I can fully concentrate on getting in my exercise, and preparing healthy food.
July: focus is on improving stamina, strength, flexibility, which may impact the scale
Aims:
- 2020: Goal is to stabilise weight around 145
- Strengthen strategies to reframe the tendency to use unhealthy snack food as a reward/treat.
- Make sure I have prepared healthy snacks available
- Cut down on eating between meals by keeping busy

THERE ARE NO QUICK FIXES OR SHORTCUTS to achieving permanent change.
REMINDERS One or two thoughts which might give heart to some of you.- Daily weight fluctuations are normal, and can be as much as 2 lbs a day for no apparent reason.
- A general downward trend is what we are looking for.
- Eating out can cause apparent weight gain because of high sodium levels, but usually goes quickly. Drinking extra water helps with this.
- The human body does not react instantly to what we do to it. Sometimes it can take several days to see results.
- Plateaus are a normal part of the process. The body is consolidating and adapting to your new way of eating/exercising.
- The closer you get to your goal weight, the more difficult it becomes to lose weight, as your body becomes more efficient at using what you feed it.
- When you exercise you build muscle, which takes up less space than fat, so use measurements as well as weight to assess your progress.
- Getting/Staying fit and healthy requires a lifestyle change for most people.

7/30 - 66.6kg, looks like my body is getting rid of all the extra food I've eaten in the weeks before starting this challenge. Also happy to see that early dinner yesterday and just tea in the evening worked well! Really trying to get into the habit of not eating too late.
7/31 - 66.6kg, went out for a bike ride, but had some unhealthy snacks later on. Gotta remember it's not perfection I'm aiming for but balance and healthy results.
8/01 - 66.7kg, yesterday's eating caught up with me. Today was such a good day! Drank lots of water, did a light workout, ate healthy foods and had dinner early, then went for a walk. Feeling great ☺️
8/02 - 66.6kg, not really getting there huh😂 Had a lovely day with the family, trying to make drinking 2L of water per day a habit.
8/03 - 66.2kg, woah! I was waiting for progress but I wasn't expecting this! Gotta keep it down now.💪
8/04 – 65.9kg, what a tumultuous 10 days this has been (even if my weight doesn’t exactly reflect the fluctuations of motivation and discipline). I am so glad I stuck with it! I love this format and reading all of your little updates - so inspiring. Definitely joining the next round!8 -
JUST GIVE ME 10 DAYS ~|~ Round 121 (round 53 for me ) I'm in for another round (of course!) – I need to just keep going! Yet again thank you @GrandmaJackie such a champion particularly in these unprecedented & unsettled times, helping keep some stability in our lives, for setting up these challenges.
Female age 62 5' 4” - Achieved goal weigh of 125lb in summer 2016 by losing 66lb and have gradually gained between 7 and 11 since then; I don't want to gain any more, but would like to get back to my goal weight – I'm working at it – it's a permanent way of life !
Goal for this round – re-lose those 2 pounds ! - get back to & stick with good habits: be mindful of what I eat & drink, keep walking, no binges, really want to keep the 10 days binge free! Keep calm, wash hands, be kind and follow all latest Government guidelines for C-19 virus.End of round 69 134.2 lbsKeep calm – we're all in this together!

Day/Weight/Comment
07/26 136.2 what !!!! 453 calories in credit, but 23 carbs over – 9.79 miles walked yesterday.
07/27 135.6 – only 3.74 miles walked yesterday, (travelled up to take DGS#1 out for the day), hence 54 calories and 75 carbs over. DGS#2 placed on transplant list last night
07/28 134.4 – 9.78 miles walked yesterday, 623 calories in credit, all macros well in green. I am gutted; I am 2 years too old to become a living liver donor to DGS, but encouraging news is that so many of my extended family have also volunteered, lets hope that one of them is compatible and he holds on till a suitable donor can be found – he is very ill now
07/29 134.4 - 364 calories in credit, 3g fat over. DGS update; my niece's husband is a potential match for live donor, awaiting blood results and a scan on Friday, just hope the dear little one can hold on that long
07/30 134.4 - 12.9 miles walked yesterday. 603 calories in credit, all other macros in green.
07/31 135.4 - 4.5 miles walked, over on calories & other macros, also didn't get all water in; took elder DGS out for the day to a country park.
08/01 134.8 – 10.4 miles walked yesterday, 558 calories in credit, all other macros in green. More importantly a liver (or part of an adults liver) has become available for my tiny DGS – in fact he is actually in theatre as I type undergoing the major surgery to give him a future, so hopeful that this is successful. (Fingers and everything else possible crossed !)
08/02 135.6? - 10.22 miles walked yesterday, 430 calories in credit and all other macros in green. DGS liver transplant went really, along way to recovery, but he now has a chance, I'm so relieved and grateful for a wonderful surgeon and supporting team, the donor (RIP) and his/hers grieving family & friends . Thank you all for your thoughts, prayers and good wishes, so much appreciated.
08/03 135.2 – 6.34 miles walked yesterday (took sick DGS 2 year old brother out for the day). 365 calories in credit, 16 carbs over. DGS#2 still very gradually improving, scans & blood results show good results, still very sleepy from anaesthetic and morphine for pain – poor little mite – but it's very optimistic (fingers still crossed).
08/04 DNW this am – our bathroom is being refurbished now for the next 2 weeks so I have no hard surface in the house to place the scales on; only have the patio outside and as I always weigh naked after my first bathroom visit of the day thought I'd spare my neighbours that unpleasantry !! I shall weigh in every am in the next challenge, but clothed!! 6.26 miles walked yesterday, miles will be more difficult to achieve whilst the workmen are here, but I'll try to get an hour or so in before they arrive and then some in the evening around commitments with MIL care. 169 calories & 4g carbs over. DGS is still doing well, daily scans & 4 hourly blood results still improving, he was unsettled last night, but they think it is cuz he's hungry ; can start to have a little milk from today.
KEEP SAFE EVERYONE . Keep calm – we're all in this together!

07/26- 185.2 had a great day worked out and spent the day by the pool so excited for this loss finally but worried if I can maintain it
07/27 184.8 finally some movement, eat less than normal since my stomach was bothering me. Took a day off from workout
07/28 183.8 another good day it seems, I am scared to believe it is true. I worked out and was under for my calories.
07/29 184.4 completed my work out and under on calories
07/30 184.4 went to beach and made sure I squeezed in arms workout before my sons baseball game. Eating was good but not perfect
07/31 184.6 good first half of the day and completed my workout but was really hungry and a little stressed and made poor choices after dinner
08/01184.4 I am pleased that I stayed the same. Took a rest day from workout and went out to lunch with friends and splurged a little.
08/02 185, completed strength workout and Long Beach walk and on point with calories but had a lot of sodium. Will try to flush it out today
08/03 184.8 completed my workout and long walk. Eating was good during the day but have dinner out so I was pleased with the slight decrease back down
08/04 184.4 completed my work out and and wen over in calories, I was feeling hungry most of the day7 -

08/04 203.4. Not so great especially considering that CICO should mean that I lost more than I have this round. But who knows? Might be water. Might be waste. Might be fat. I'll keep plugging along. It was really great to see the 190s this round and I'm determined to see them again soon. Hopefully it will be the next round.

Ultimate Goal: 185 lbs., but realistically 15-18% bodyfat.
10-day Goal: 321.5 I'm basing this off my ENDING weight from last round PLUS forcing myself to consistently work out. Gotta be accountable and responsible.

08/04 - 320.9 - Got in a good weight workout yesterday and planned to go to the gym early this morning, but everything is under water this morning (Philly area). With the storm/hurricane not expected to pass through until mid- to late afternoon, my plans just changed. The good is that I made my goal by more than a half pound.

07/28: 134.5 | Birthday was yesterday, so an impromptu visit from my parents was accompanied by an impromptu cherry pie. Along with testing out some other foods/recipes earlier in the day, definitely went over the calorie count. I didn't feel comfortable turning it away, but will probably just throw the leftovers away (sorry mom! It is very good, I promise!). Recommitting myself today.
07/29: 133.2 | Sort of recommitted myself; ate only half a piece of leftover pie. Had some great Mediterranean food from Aladdin's (regional restaurant chain based in Ohio, with some locations in surrounding states). Stayed within the calorie count, so gonna keep up that progress and ensure at least some weight is lost this round...

Round 121
Month/Day: Weight / Comment
07/26: 210.2 / A bump up from yesterday, but no surprise. Had my hand in the candy dish and other carbs all day yesterday. And, it was too hot and humid for very much activity outside.
07/27: 210.8 / I guess I will be happy with this for a Monday morning. Way better (4.2# better) than last Monday.
07/28: 209.4 / fingers crossed and mouth shut, I might make it to below 208 this round.
07/29: 206.8 / Ok that was unexpected, obviously. I better wear a neck brace for tomorrow’s jump up.

07/31: 205.8 / I am getting close to a range where I could be happy in maintenance. Got here quicker than I expected, so I will need to manage expectations. And, there are some social engagements coming soon. Expectations = Premeditated Resentments. 😊
08/01: 206.2 / Not bad considering the pizza I had for supper last night feels like it is still sitting in my stomach like a cannon ball.
08/02: 208.2 / Not the least bit surprising. Over at some great friends last night where they served a feast in honor of my birthday. (I know, birthday was almost a month ago and your sick of hearing about it. Ha!) But they have been out of town and this is the first time we have seen each other for a while. Not blaming anyone but myself, but I overindulged.
08/03: 207.6 / Expectations exceeded since last Monday. I will take this and run with it. Not literally. I don’t run. Joints can’t take it. Walking and biking are more my thing.
08/04: 207.0 / I accomplished my goal of lowering my average from round before! I went from 211.5 to 207.9! On the 28th I wondered if I could make it to 208, and ended up averaging less than that. Now I need to stay the course. Same goal for next round. I would like to have a few rounds (or a life) where the average hovers around the 205 mark and consider if this should be a “reasonable” maintenance weight.
I see the next round is posted so I will see you all there I hope.
