07/26 DNW, but it’s good to be back at a deficit and so much easier after the break. I’d been struggling a bit before, so I’m hoping the reset helps with adhering to my diet. I didn’t weigh in this morning because I was camping last night. First weigh in will be tomorrow.
07/27 202.6. I’m pretty happy about this since it was what my last and lowest weigh in was before the diet break. I’ve only been back at a deficit for two days.
07/28 200.8. Wow. I expect it will bump up a bit since that's the way the process goes, but I'm really glad that the break I took didn't derail me from losing.
07/29 199.6. Yay! I have not seen this number in five years. At some point it's going to bump back up a bit, but soon enough I won't ever see the 200s again.
07/30 200. Glad I got to see the 190s before the bump up. Probably will see them again this round.
07/31 200.4
08/01 200.6. NSV: Jeans I've been wanting to wear that couldn't be gotten past my hips July 15 can be buttoned as of today. One of my goals is to fit comfortably into them by Labour Day. I haven't been able to wear them since the fall of 2014.
08/02 202. Ate above maintenance yesterday.

I like to track averages due to my wild fluctuations. For the same reason, I like to weigh daily so I can see the lows from time to time. It gives me hope.
Round 121
Month/Day: Weight / Comment
07/26: 210.2 / A bump up from yesterday, but no surprise. Had my hand in the candy dish and other carbs all day yesterday. And, it was too hot and humid for very much activity outside.
07/27: 210.8 / I guess I will be happy with this for a Monday morning. Way better (4.2# better) than last Monday.
07/28: 209.4 / fingers crossed and mouth shut, I might make it to below 208 this round.
07/29: 206.8 / Ok that was unexpected, obviously. I better wear a neck brace for tomorrow’s jump up.
07/30: 206.6 / Braced for no reason, but not unhappy. 😊
07/31: 205.8 / I am getting close to a range where I could be happy in maintenance. Got here quicker than I expected, so I will need to manage expectations. And, there are some social engagements coming soon. Expectations = Premeditated Resentments. 😊
08/01: 206.2 / Not bad considering the pizza I had for supper last night feels like it is still sitting in my stomach like a cannon ball.
08/02: 208.2 / Not the least bit surprising. Over at some great friends last night where they served a feast in honor of my birthday. (I know, birthday was almost a month ago and your sick of hearing about it. Ha!) But they have been out of town and this is the first time we have seen each other for a while. Not blaming anyone but myself, but I overindulged.

07/26 209.6 7350 steps yesterday for the funeral. 2109 calories family ordered a late evening pizza and I ate none....1.4 drop overnight want to keep it but I am skeptic...
07/27 209.8 13394 steps yesterday 1260 calories in beach and sun day with my family. Exhausted today and very, very hot outside today. Lunch walk will be in the halls.
07/28 208.9 13455 steps 1493 calories lunch and evening walks. Good results started believe it not’s gonna disappear.
07/29 208.4 12967 steps 1539 calories lunch and evening walk.
07/30 208 Yesterday 16298 steps and 1740 calories. A little high for calories, but very active afternoon. Walked my little ones to the park and back one mile there and one mile. Not high intensity although we do some running but we also stop to look at every beautiful flower!!! My daughter “It’s so beautiful, I love it!” Steak for dinner and half a slice of fruit tart at work. Very good.
07/31 208.2 Yesterday 13744 steps and 1526 calories very active, happy not stressing about slight uptick. My office is having pizza today but I am having a turkey cutlet salad. Been up since 330 this morning so today should be interesting…
08/01 207.5 13000 yesterday good on calories

Goal this round: Report daily
7/29-157-I was doing so good and then my life got so busy I couldn’t see straight. I was painting all of the garage cabinets and doors so we could install them. All of a sudden, I found the exact long arm sewing machine I’ve been looking for, used, and I dropped everything I was doing and my friend and I drove 6 hours and got it and hauled it home, set it up and we’ve had nonstop company. This morning I got my coffee, sat down to report back to you as the first step back to “normal”. I hope you are all doing good. 💚☕️
8/30-DNW-
8/31-157-Finally getting back into a routine. Heading out for a bike ride soon. My sister is coming to visit and I need to get all of our mother’s table coverings out and measure/label and group according to size and I’ll donate what is left after she and I go through them. Our dear mother loved to shop and decorate. This will be a load off of me and out of my house. When DH and I die, I want our kids to be able to sweep the floor and put a for sale sign up.😊
8/1-155-went on a bike ride and ate sensibly.
8/2-156-Not bad after all thr food I had here when my sister came. For stir fry I used riced cauliflower and DH liked it, yay!7 -

7/26: 220.6 Yesterday’s number was a big drop, I said then that a lot of it was probably water. Just balancing out today.
7/27: 221.4 My scale was acting weird last night (display light on and flickering when it hadn’t been touched since that morning) and I had to replace the battery this morning, so I can totally blame this bump on that, right? In all seriousness, I’m still lower than three days ago...still balancing out that big one-day drop, I guess. Follow the trend, not the fluctuations. It’s why I post the chart.
7/28: 222.6 Right...there’s no “just balancing out the fluctuations” or “follow the trend” here. I had a mini fast food binge yesterday, and I gained. Time to get back on track.
7/29: 222.4 Was hoping for a bigger drop, but at least it’s in the right direction at last!
7/30: 220.4 There it is.
7/31: 220.2 Back to where I started the round, except now the trendline is catching up to the low number on the scale. The scale flirted with numbers in the 219 range, but settled here. Soon enough...
8/1: 220.4 Didn’t post yesterday, but I did weigh in, so here it is.
8/2: 220.2 Seriously flirting with the idea of getting below 220 without actually getting there. It’ll happen soon enough, whenever the next big drop happens, and then I’ll be waiting impatiently for the next one! Big exercise day yesterday, met a goal I’d been working toward, so maybe I’m holding onto some water for recovery today. Would be nice to drop a bit in the next two days so I can end the round lower than I started, though.

Round 121 SW: 186.6 (on 7/25/20)
7/26 – 185.9 This is a glorious day as I have been recently struggling with the 187 speedbump. I’ve now had TWO days under 187 and I think it’s going to stick!
7/27 – 186.2 – Not surprising, because I had some rice with a little soy sauce with dinner last night and that always makes me retain a little water.
7/28 – 186.3 – I guess that exciting “dip” was just a tease. That’s okay. It is cardio day on the stationary bike so hopefully I’ll get this moving back in the other direction.
7/29 – 186.3 – Holding steady here, not bad. I’m really not feeling well today so I’m just going to try to take it easy.
7/30 – 185.4 – There we go! Yesterday I got in my steps, logged my food and drank tea as I tried to rest a bit.
7/31 – 187.0 - Had “dinner night” with my husband. It was the first take-out we’d had in 4 weeks. It was delicious – no regrets.
8/01 - 185.8 – Nice recovery after a take-out dinner. Now it’s time to work on August goals!
8/02 – 184.8 - That was unexpected, but I’ll take it! I’ve been doing my scheduled cardio and being really careful about logging foods after the take-out day and it seems to have worked.

07/26 180.8 Yikes! Weekend lack of discipline. Lost my 17X number.
07/27 182.4 Why do I do this to myself? Now I will spend the next week+ just trying to get back to where I was. 😢 I walked into the weekend without planning it, and feeling “low” (energy, spirits) and so I let my “wants” take over. I do think a big part is sodium, but even that will take awhile to flush out.
07/28 DNW
07/29 182.8 This is what poorly managed anxiety will get you. 😢 I’m back on track today. May not see it on the scale tomorrow, but I’m back exercising, journaling, and I ate green. Just need to keep returning to my habits even through the “downs”.
07/30 183.0 still digging myself out of the hole I’ve made. I’ll get there.
07/31 181.4 Back in the right direction!
08/01 180.8
08/02 180.8 Ok, 2 good weigh-ins before my trip. Would have loved to show up knowing I was a 17X, but after 7 months of work at least I’m no longer a 2XX. Gotta keep grateful and appreciative of what I have achieved!

@figurethefat I was curious about Tunnock’s caramel so just looked it up. The 30g treat has 21g of carbs-that’s about my daily limit. It does sound delicious though. 😉2

@HealthierinMFP You are down more than a kilo (2.2#) in 8 days. Healthy weight loss is 1.5-2# per week. As I have said for sometime, ANY LOSS IS A GOOD LOSS. Stick with your plan, you may go up but if it is a sound plan, you will lose. You are doing great!2

7/26 - 181.2
It’s a lovely morning but heating up fast. Birthday cake on tap for DH, but I’m planning the rest of my day to compensate, and will be spreading soil in my new garden bed, so that should burn a few calories. I’m determined to lower my calorie average by at least 100 this round, and to up my exercise. Have a gorgeous Sunday, all. Be safe & healthy. 🌸❤️🌼🥗🌻
7/27 - 181.8
Oooh, the cake was good. And lasagna for DH’s birthday dinner. Salad today, baby! I did do a couple hours worth of hard labor in the garden — I’m turning the lawn at one side of the house into flowers, so schlepped a lot of 40-lb bands of soil around. More today, then compost. Better than the gym!
7/28 - 182.8
Cake + no walk due to lightning + a bit of munching last night = bloat + weight gain. Back with the program today. I want to get back to running, so am thinking of doing a round of C25K starting tomorrow. Planning a nice walk this evening. I’m off to buy more soil — I have about half the lawn covered for my side-yard garden. Yesterday was horrible hot, but it’s lovely today, so I need dirt! These days, I dream in flowers.
7/29 - 181.8
I almost finished laying the new garden bed yesterday — today’s the day! I’ll do that this morning (12 more 40-lb bags of soil will be my weight training) and then I’m off for a long walk along the river this afternoon. Now to eat well at meals and slay the snack monster....
7/30 - 182.8
Aaack. But I did eat salty yesterday and had an adult beverage last night, which I rarely do, but I finished laying out my new garden space (below). Now I wait for the paper under the soil to decompose, and in the spring I’ll plant a wide variety of flowers for birds, bees, butterflies, moths, and me! That’s 2,240 pounds of soil there!
7/31 - 181.8
Almost forgot to check in!
8/1 - 182
DH wanted Thai yesterday, so I had just 2 summer rolls with shrimp and peanut sauce. Delish! I did eat a bunch of popcorn last night and feel a bit bloated — still wrestling with the evening snack monster. It’s a new month so I am going to try for one behavioral change — breaking the evening snack habit is my goal for this month. I did go for a lovely 5-mile walk yesterday, and worked in the garden. All good. Have a lovely weekend, all!
8/2 - 181.8
Holy cow, where has this round gone? And why am I still not doing what I need to do? More to the point, why am I still doing what I don’t need to do? To be honest, I don’t even mind my weight right now, especially since it’s been with a 4-lb range for 6 months (so I’m no longer gaining), but most of my clothes are for smaller me and I don’t want to buy clothes! I’m wondering once again whether obsessing constantly about calories, macros, minutes, miles is counter-productive for me at the moment. I mean, I record everything I eat, so it’s not as if I’m unaware of what and how much, but it’s not working for me like it did before. Maybe I should stop thinking in terms of re-losing 50 pounds and shift to a 10 or 20 pound goal. Your thoughts/experience about this sort of thing appreciated!

08/02 - 154.1 - Not surprised, had a big day out yesterday goofing off and trying to enjoy time with the kids during their last full weekend together. I'm not as bloated as normal, but I am a bit dehydrated so I'm assuming that's the uptick. Going to focus on water today as much as I can. Update on my Godson -- he's out of the hospital and seems almost normal. Obviously a little slow and groggy from 5 days in the hospital getting poked and prodded (he's 2 so easy to irritate with that) but his attitude is definitely come back to shine. His appointment concerning transplant has been postponed as the family wants both parents there during the process (and to calm the little man -- they learned during this trip if only 1 parent is there at a time, he is uncontrollable but once they got approval for both to stay, he was much better and his health turned around for the better almost immediately) and to make decisions as a team regarding their son's future. Hopefully things will calm down on the COVID front as they can't postpone too much longer but I also understand the concerns of having only 1 parent at a time.

Previous Day's Comments07/31 - Well, first time weighing at all since May... Not too bad, I'll say. I haven't done anything except the occasional yoga, walk, and once a hill run with the middle kid. She's in cross country so she likes to try to kill me on runs haha Absolutely no food tracking done, no attempt at portion control, nothing! I'm actually quite surprised about my weight, especially as I've been super bloated and heavy feeling lately, I figured I'd creeped back up in to the 160s. Apparently this is a stuck weight and I'm glad for it. Now time to move my stuck weight down.

Joining late - but daily weigh-ins keep me accountable. I've been off track for a while, and I was at my highest non-pregnancy weight ever. So I started on Keto and am doing some moderate IF with a 9/15 schedule. Expecting to drop some water weight this week and then even out.

Round 121 goal: Maintain (0.0) (adjusted from 2.0)
7/26: 235.2 (+1.6)/20.2 (+0.2). I had some company over last night (social-distancing on the outdoor patio), and I had a "cheat-meal" and three drinks. The meal was more of a quantity issue than quality; I'm going to treat it like the "slip" it was. I have another "outing" this evening (outdoor social-distancing visit) with my wife at my brother-in-law's home. I'm not sure what we're eating, but I'm going to go into it with portion control (and no more more than a drink or two) in mind.
7/27: 235.8 (+0.6)/20.2 (0.0). I went to with my wife to my brother-in-law's yesterday, and "it could have been worse." I had a couple of drinks, I ate reasonably (probably 1.5 times what I would have had if I was alone), and it's really hard to stay on target when I'm not completely in control of everything. Spending time with others twice in a short weekend (every other weekend is three days for me) is unusual. I'm going to be 100% on-plan for the next five days (including this one). Let's see how long it takes to get back to where I was this past Friday. I'm adjusting my goal for this week, hoping that I can end up where I started at the end of last challenge.
7/28: 234.8 (-1.0)/20.1 (-0.1). It always feels good to see the scale move in the right direction. I stuck to my plan 100% yesterday, I had lots of water, and I got lots of rest. My back is feeling MUCH better, although it's "tender" in one spot that does not make much sense to me. I used Salonpas on it a couple of times, in that one spot, but I haven't used it for at least four days. It remains very sensitive in that one spot, but not sensitive in a "back pain" sort of way. It feels almost like I had a really bad sunburn, but only in that spot. Nothing is swollen, and the area has no discoloration or redness. Maybe it's time to contact my doctor.
7/29: 233.4 (-1.4)/20.0 (-0.1). Ah, the beginning stages of weight loss! It's so much fun to be able to make up for a "slightly bad" weekend with two days of sticking to my plan. And, as write this, I understand that this is not usually how it works. In my life, it takes 2-3 times the effort to counteract the effects of any one "moment." Remembering this helps keep me on track. It keeps me from grabbing for that last drink, from eating that last bite, and from sometimes engaging in behaviors that are not consistent with my goals. Thank you to everyone who has expressed concern about my back (and about me in general). I'm seeing my chiropractor today, so hopefully I'll have some good news tomorrow. As always, when I'm in this group, I feel loved.
7/30: 233.0 (-0.4)/19.9 (-0.1). I slightly oversnacked last night, but I was overall on-point and sticking to my plan. I also made it to the chiropractor yesterday. I actually had a bit of a lower back spasm while I was on the table, but he was still able to adjust me, so I'm hopeful my back will get back to normal soon. He didn't seem concerned about my "sensitivity" in that area of my lower back. He said that Salonpas is known to cause some skin/soft tissue irritation; plus, it seems to be feeling less sensitive every day. Other good news: I'm having a pool table installed on my covered patio tomorrow morning, and I'm getting a table tennis "top" for it soon, so I should have some reasons to get off my @$$ soon. I miss basketball, and I miss going to the gym, but I really need to get my body moving. Sad news: I went to see my "brother" yesterday (my mother's 15-year-old American Eskimo), probably for the last time. My poor little old man can barely walk, but he's absolutely beautiful (he looks like he's 4 or 5 years old). I said my goodbyes, but I'm quick-to-tears today thinking about him.
7/31: 232.4 (-0.6)/19.9 (-0.1). My pool table is being installed as we speak, which I'm excited about. Sticking to my diet is working out to be pretty easy at the moment, but exercise has been much harder to "work back in." I did not talk with my mother yesterday about her dog, so I think I'll check in with her today. I'm a little bit scared that I'm going to get some bad news, but I know it's the right thing to do. I'm trying to get better at dealing with death and grief.
8/1: 230.8 (-1.6)/19.7 (-0.2). Two weeks in, 10.2 lbs down (wife is down 3.0, but has much less to lose than I do). This weekend is a three-day weekend for me (I get every other Monday off); my niece's birthday party is Sunday, and my in-laws are coming over Monday (all events outdoors, with masks, and socially-distanced). This means increased temptation(s) and lack of complete control regarding my food intake. I'm going to try to change the narrative of what a "weekend" means for me (I love "The Weeknd" by the way). I will have a drink or two tomorrow, but that's it; and my brother is pretty good at generally encouraging portion control, even without me asking. On Monday I will not drink at all, and I think I can get away with eating my own food (my wife can get/make something for the in-laws if she wants to). I'll have a little bit (very small portion) of dessert at the birthday party, but likely none with the in-laws. I still haven't uncovered or played with my pool table, but that is definitely going to happen today. I hope everyone has a great weekend!
8/2: 230.6 (-0.2)/19.7 (0.0). I had three glasses of wine last night (maybe 3.5) while my wife and I broke in our pool table, but I also skipped a snack I would have normally had. I'll count that as breaking even (or close to it). I am still undefeated on my new pool table; my wife "had" me one game (had a shot at the eight ball, but knocked it and the cue ball in for a game-ending scratch), but I pretty much kicked her butt the rest of the night. It's my niece's birthday party tonight, and my brother apparently ordering take-out sushi for everyone. Yes, my 8-year-old niece loves sushi. The great news is they're ordering from a place has pretty clear nutritional information, so I know what I'll be eating tonight (which drastically improves my ability to "plan for it"). I'm feeling a little different today, in a good way; I think my face is just starting to thin out. My next NSV would be to be able to comfortably button my shorts. I can currently get them closed, but I am far from comfortable doing so. I also think I'm ready to get back on the exercise wagon. I'll start by dusting off the rowing machine to see if I go for 5-10 minutes. I'll shoot for every other day for the next couple of days, and see how that feels. On my "off" days I'll try to do some resistance exercises. I really wish my gym was open. It's so much easier for me to get a comprehensive workout there.

07/26 …..210.0 ….. Good luck everyone this round!
07/27 …..210.2 ….. fluctuation.
07/28 …..209.8 ….. One of the many things I’m going thru right now is the health of my very last pet, my cat Reeces. She is just over 20 years old . Diagnosed about 8 months ago with kidney issues (mild liver issues too). Her health began deteriorating severely and rapidly over the weekend. Her weight dropped quickly and I’ve been having to dropper feed her water, flavorless pedialyte and lactose free milk. No vet open on the weekends in this rural area. She began to do a little better on the eating front and is eating bits of cat food too, but her weight is down to 4 pounds (usually about 5.5 in her older age). I know that suffering does not always equal pain. For sure, sometimes suffering does not ever involve actual pain at all. So I will travel today to her far-away doctor who has cared for her the entire 20 years and, of course, I will discuss appetite increasing pills, antibiotics etc but I think I already know what he is going to say, so I am trying to prepare myself. I am a total mess right now. In the past 20 years I have had my children grow up and leave. I’ve gotten divorced and been a single mother. I’ve remarried for 15 years and then became a widow. I have had and loved many many dogs and cats (loving pets) in those 20 years. I’ve lost parents, friends, my sister. But Reeces has always been here with me, through it all. My mainstay. Sorry this is so gloomy, friends. I am just beside myself. Please pray for whatever is right for her today. She deserves the very best treatment or send-off, whichever is necessary and humane at this time.
07/29 …..208.1 ….. I always drop weight during sad times.
07/30 …..209.2 ….. I managed to eat a little better but it was a little later for food than I like. I hope the scale tomorrow will be better. My house seems so empty now, I am going to try hard not to fill the void in space and time with food. Thanks again everyone for you comforting words.

About me:I love learning about food and everything about it; from the way it acts in the body to learning to cook a new recipe. I went to school for nutrition (got my bachelor's) but I didn’t become an RD because it didn’t feel like the path for me. I guess I wanted to keep it as more of an interest instead of a career. I then went into public health to further my education and I currently help medically complex patients by connecting them with community resources to improve their health and life. I enjoy helping family and friends when they ask for advice related to food and nutrition. Plus, it helps me brush up on what I spent so much time learning!Previous days’ entries
I’m here because when I’m not paying attention to what I eat, I start to gain and feel uncomfortable in my body. For me that results in frustration and a lot of other emotions. It has also increased my cholesterol in the past (It’s good now as far as I know thanks to diet and exercise). I have a family history of diabetes, heart disease, and all that fun stuff. So, I want to prevent that for myself by getting a hold of my food habits now.
I’m always open to conversation about food and nutrition, so feel free to reach out to me!07/26 117.2 Starting at the same weight I ended in round 119 thanks to eating a whole lot of salt on Friday after our hike. As semblances of normal life start creeping back in like takeout food, I find it harder to resist. Especially when it’s right in my face (Like my in-laws ordering takeout and wanting us to eat upstairs with them). I have a hard time saying no to those things because I enjoy them. One positive is that I feel like I did well last week and made a huge volume of summer squash to go with a minimal amount of Chinese food I ended up eating (maybe 1 cup worth of General Tso’s chicken, one chicken finger, and ½ cup pork fried rice, a fried dough ball, then a mountain of sautéed zucchini/summer squash). That method worked pretty well, I felt satisfied afterwards, but it took a while to feel full. I wanted to eat more but resisted.
I know I said going into this it would be tough because the lower you go the harder it is to get to the goal number at my height. I just need to remind myself of that and keep on chugging because I love the changes I have seen and feel very comfortable in my own skin. I just don’t want to feel uncomfortable again…which can happen if takeout becomes a habit.
So cheers to a new round with a new focus and challenges of not letting takeout food get in the way of my success.
07/27 117.2 Solid start to the day with a good soccer workout before the 100 degree plus humidity weather rolls in. I made a new batch of granola yesterday and added some crushed up brown rice cakes to it to add some bulk without a lot of calories. I’m excited to try it with my fruit and yogurt for breakfast.
It’s CSA pick up today and I got an email saying there will be peaches in it, so I’m very excited to try those! I love in season and local peaches! They are so so yummyyyyy! We’ll also be getting kohlrabi which will be fun to cook with! I love kohlrabi just sliced and munched on raw. So much yummy produce is really going to start rolling in and I’m so excited about it!
I’m also feeling refreshed after my mini vacation last week of having Wednesday to Friday off work.
07/28 118.0 Salt is not my friend. Had Thai food last night and wasn’t over on anything numbers wise. Done with takeout for a while. My husband really wanted it last night and I caved because it sounded way too good as I was really hungry at the time. Bleck, now I pay. Hoping the water weight doesn’t stick around because it doesn’t feel good being all swollen. I felt it in my fingers and face this morning snd hoping it fades.
Besides that, we went for a really nice walk this morning at around 5ish miles and it included black berry picking! So that was fun coming home with about a pint of wild black berries to accompany our CSA blueberries, apples and peaches in the fridge. I have healthy food all planned out for today and planning to stick to it.
07/29 119.2 Water weight is crazy right now. Besides that, I had a really good soccer workout this morning. I also switched up my breakfast routine today because I had leftover kielbasa to finish up. So I browned the kielbasa (4 oz) slices in a pan and then threw in an egg. Then on the side, I had a slice of whole wheat raisin toast (Angelic Bakehouse brand) topped with ½ tbs peanut butter along with some blueberries and blackberries. It was a pretty balanced breakfast and it’ll be interesting to see how well it keeps me satisfied.
07/30 117.0 Finally got the whoosh of water weight released. I can feel it too! My fingers don’t feel swollen which is nice 😊. We went for a really nice walk this morning. I think it clocked in at about 6.5ish miles. I think I’ll be frying an egg to go with my yogurt and fruit this morning. Then for a snack I’ll have some fresh kohlrabi and cucumbers. I’ll probably have a couple pieces of dried fruit with it too for a sweet treat. I’m looking forward to possibly having a taco salad for dinner tonight! Have a good day!
07/31 116.4 More whoosh of water weight 😊. Finally back to baseline after over a week of highs. We did a really good soccer workout this morning. I have my meals all planned for the day. For breakfast I’m having leftover chili I made last night topped with an egg. Then I’ll have fruit, yogurt and granola on the side. Snack will be some more kohlrabi and cucumber sprinkled with chili lime seasoning. Then, for dinner I think I want to make chicken thighs, purple potatoes, and zucchini ribbons with a touch of alfredo sauce for dinner tonight.
08/01 115.6 Whelp there’s a number I don’t remember seeing, even in high school. Maybe middleschool, so when I was an awkward 13/14 year old with a completely different shape to me. This is exciting and I’m really happy with it 😊. Let’s hope it sticks! In the meantime I will celebrate the victory with some online shopping to treat myself.
I have my typical breakfast planned today in addition I’ll be having some leftover chili on the side with an egg on top. Not sure if I’ll be hungry after such a big breakfast. Then we’ll be having homemade pasta & meatballs for dinner tonight. I think I’ going to make some zucchini ribbons to add some veg to the dish as well. I’ll probably have a cucumber salad to go with it too.
NSV: I have officially been logging for 110 days in MFP 😊.
08/02 115.6 Nice to see it stick. We had Chipotle door dash for lunch today and I calculated my bowl on their website and realized after the fact that the bowl I ordered had almost 3,000 mg of sodium in it. (Ingredients: barbacoa, brown rice, black beans, fajita veg, guac, mild and hot salsa, and romaine lettuce.) So, I’m sure I’ll have some water fluctuations into tomorrow. It also clocked in at 1,000 calories. After logging all of that, it makes me realize how I got up to the weight I was at. We were eating a lot of Chipotle and take out pre-pandemic, which definitely adds up over time into real poundage. After having for the first time in a while… I wonder why I ate it so much before because I wasn’t that impressed with it today. I think I’d rather splurge on Thai food for a sodium bomb vs Chipotle. I plan on having a light dinner tonight like salad and then some fruit and yogurt. I really hope the sodium doesn’t bother me too much.

- 2020: Goal is to stabilise weight around 145
- Strengthen strategies to reframe the tendency to use unhealthy snack food as a reward/treat.
- Make sure I have prepared healthy snacks available
- Cut down on eating between meals by keeping busy

THERE ARE NO QUICK FIXES OR SHORTCUTS to achieving permanent change.
REMINDERS One or two thoughts which might give heart to some of you.- Daily weight fluctuations are normal, and can be as much as 2 lbs a day for no apparent reason.
- A general downward trend is what we are looking for.
- Eating out can cause apparent weight gain because of high sodium levels, but usually goes quickly. Drinking extra water helps with this.
- The human body does not react instantly to what we do to it. Sometimes it can take several days to see results.
- Plateaus are a normal part of the process. The body is consolidating and adapting to your new way of eating/exercising.
- The closer you get to your goal weight, the more difficult it becomes to lose weight, as your body becomes more efficient at using what you feed it.
- When you exercise you build muscle, which takes up less space than fat, so use measurements as well as weight to assess your progress.
- Getting/Staying fit and healthy requires a lifestyle change for most people.

Medium range goal - I turn 60 in early October, so the goal is to be under 300. It would mean I've lost over 100 lbs. in just under a year AND first time under 300 since my late 40's.

Day/Weight/Comment
07/26 - 326.9 - Huge uptick. Overate yesterday and my last meal got me sick and bloated. Not sure if it was undercooked (ribs) or something else, but I'll be preparing them differently next time.
07/27 - 329.0 - Strictly an excess of calories over the weekend. Prolly why I felt ill over the weekend (too much food). I'll be interested to see how much I drop by Saturday weight-in, since it normally reflects the largest, final, end-of-the-week drop.
07/28 - 324.2 - I knew it would drop, but with two small workouts (one aerobic, one weights), the drop was more than I hoped. I'm almost back to where I was Saturday morning. Sometimes you just find the *thing* that clicks and works for you. Over the years, like SO many, I've tried a variety of things. And then I just stumbled across intermittent fasting. I started with the standard 16:8 and slowly moved over to 20:4. I began watching Dr. Jason Fung, who is probably the formost authority on the subject and he spoke of alt. day IF. I worked up the nerve to try it. For someone that LOVES to eat, like I do, it was ALOT of nerve. I'm now starting my fourth week. Per Dr. Fung, there is no reason why the loss won't continue. Now down about 15 lbs. in those 3+ weeks. A little fast, but one by-product is that the loose skin gets eaten from autophagy/ketosis. And there are numerous other health benefits, too, not just the weight loss. I'm just very excited that something works that doesn't limit the foods I eat
07/29 - 327.7 - I always expect the uptick the day after eating. A little high since I drink so much in the morning, but I'm still OK since the weekly trend is down. I try to focus only on the Saturday weigh-in week over week.
07/30 - 323.5 - And the beat goes on... I'm gonna be close to making my medium range goal, but just losing 100 lbs. seems so distant.
07/31 - 324.6 - Only a 1 pound uptick. Looks like I might have a shot at making my goal for this round, IF I can get in 2 workouts before tomorrow's weigh-in. Made it to the gym this afternoon. Got a decent back workout in, plus 30 mins. on an eliptical (@ 75% heart rate 161 bmp max x .75 = 121 avg.)
08/01 - 322.6 - Not quite there, but I've still got 3 days. The good part is that the last weigh-in day is right after a 42 hour fast.
08/02 - 326.7 - OK, not happy about the uptick, but if there is little rise tomorrow, then I'll be ok. I like going to the gym very early, like before 6AM, but on weekends it doesn't open until 7AM, which does not work for me. I'll have to think of ways to change my plan.
