So here are my goals for today:
    - post 😄
    - get oil changed 😄
    - put air in tires(helped a little old lady fill hers up too. She was adorable) 😄
    - go to Walmart 😄
    - write two scenes for USS(the two that somehow didn't save. I want to cry) 😄I actually lost 3 scenes but I skipped 2 of them and just put brackets that said [insert scene here] and just kept on going. Lol.
    - make a list of 5 blog post topics 😄I found a couple of really good lists online so I have a ton of topics now.
    - fold clean clothes 😄
    - actually cook dinner 😅Um...kinda? I just heated up a bag of frozen shrimp lo mein. Wasn't nearly as good as the takeout variety but still decent. And the whole package which was supposed to be 3 servings (HAHA yeah right) was like 510 cal. Lol

I had a GREAT day yesterday. Like, really great! I did my two mini habits for the first time in like a month and that seemed to spur me on. One of my habits is to walk to the end of my little driveway. When I went outside to do that, I realized how nice it was out and that my writing chair was dry. So I grabbed my laptop, a cup of water, and the bug spray and spent an hour sitting outside and writing. It was glorious.

I was done with my to do list by like 630 so I had the whole evening to myself. I watched the Mets game which was really good and just chilled out with Panda until Matt got home.

I wasn't depressed at all. Just in a really good mood with high spirits.

It's supposed to be stormy all day today and I have to run an errand later so I don't know how much of a good day today will be but I'll try! Lol

    Today I will:
    - post😄
    - up at 930😄really didn't want to get up but I did. Lol
    - write one scene of USS
    - write and publish one blog post
    - wash sheets
    - clean out fridge
    - do mini habits(one piece of fruit/walk to end of driveway)
    - pick up cat carrier from petco

@HEGoddard0928 - I bet you get your list accomplished. I find that when I think I have a lot of time to get something done I procrastinate and put off forever, but give me a deadline and I'm done in no time. So nice to see you have a good day.

@TerriRichardson112 - I'm on edge shopping too, I absolutely hate it!

@mytime6630 - That's remarkable to spend 400 on a monthly shop. I am lucky if 400 does for two weeks here, I find everything has gone up in price so much!

@littleblackskirt - I have the same problem with my glasses, I have to wear a mask at work and have learned that I really need to pinch the nose piece and it stops the steaming of my glasses. I know when my glasses are steaming that I haven't pinched it hard enough.

@cesse47 - I did that in my bedroom a couple of weeks ago, and it made it feel so much better. I hope you find some comfort when you are done as well.

@SERmom3 - That is a huge job, painting your house. Are you changing the colour or just freshening the paint?

@pridesabtch - I hope you have a better day today.

I am dreading the day at work today, I know something that is going to happen and it's going to be miserable. Unfortunately, I can't do anything to stop it. I will share more when I'm not on my work computer.

    Have a great day everyone.

@Snowflake1968 - Thanks, I hope so as well. At this rate, I'll still be working on it at the end of the month! I've only gotten a couple of chunks in today; hoping to do at least 2 more. Really, seriously procrastinating on this task ... ok, so I don't like the furniture. ok, so I don't like the paint. ok, there's 3-4 loads of laundry to do, fold, put away. Yes, need to reorganize and rearrange ... haven't done so since everything was moved in a year ago. Maybe need to think a bit more about WHY I'm so resistant to getting this task done.

@HEGoddard0928 - Glad they make you smile. It's hard to stay positive and "look on the bright side" when everything around you is negative ... so much strife and tension, gloom and doom, frustration and animosity, road rage, etc. I do a small search each morning to find 2-3 funny quotes; makes my day a bit brighter. If it makes me giggle or laugh, I write it down ... and use here if it's just a short one.

    Have a great day Y'All!! 🌞

This morning, I remembered to take measurements (that I forgot last Friday). Very happy that since I changed MFP settings several weeks ago, I am losing weight again, albeit slowly (my choice). And my measurements are trending down too. Results I want, plus I get to eat more calories every day. Think I was trying too hard to control my numbers before.

    2020 Goals:
    1) Get weight below 160# (last time was 4/20/19)
    2) Plan meals most days & prelog meals/snacks whenever possible on MFP
    3) Post weekly weigh-in on JFT for accountability
    4) Take measurements & log on MFP monthly (I stopped as weight plateaued & went up) = 2.1.20 / 2.29.20 / 4.1.20 (forgot 3.31.20) / 5.1.20 (forgot 4.30.20) / 6.3.20 (forgot at ME again)
    5) Exercise 5-6x per week (minimum 4x) ~ mostly walking but include weights/circuit & other x-training
    6) Participate in race events ~ have planned 7 5Ks and 2 10Ks at minimum = Frenzy on the Fox 5K 49:36 ave. pace 15:29 / Seroogy's Valentine 5K 46:26.7 ave. pace 14:47 / Badger State Brewing 10K virtual race w/ dog on 4/2/20 1:44:16 ave. pace 16:33 / Prevention virtual 5K Fun & Fit Team on 5/2/20 I walked 3.48 mi w/ dog in 1:01:10 ave. pace 17:33 / RonaRunOff 5/16/20 virtual walk 5.08 miles with dog in 1:23:15 ave. pace 16:23 / 100 Miles Challenge fundraiser (per fitness tracker) & completed 5/18/20 / Bellin Run 10K virtual race w/ dog on 6/6/20 1:41:03 ave. pace 16:14 dog definitely slows my "race pace"
    7) Be considerate and loving to hubby and have fun together
    8) Make efforts to keep in touch with parents, siblings and friends (most live in other towns or states)
    9) Declutter home office, bedroom and basement = basement (boxes) Jan. / home office desk (some) & more basement boxes Feb. / basement boxes & home office (some more) Mar. / decluttered/cleaned in bedroom & more basement boxes Apr. / basement boxes May ~ very pleased w/ my progress / reorg in basement June & July

@cesse47, I can second Bex's suggestion of Eating the Frog. Whenever I've done that, the job gets done, and I get a huge feeling of accomplishment.

I wondered, if you don't like the furniture, could you paint it? You can paint any kind of surface if you use the right primer/undercoat. You could end up with a whole new look :) I've painted lots of furniture, and a whole kitchen. I love the transformation and the different colours. I did my cheap wooden wardrobe a sort of whitewash effect, I love it!

It is possible to paint over laminate. I used a prep called ESP, which is meant to give a key to the surface, then an undercoat called Zinsser Bullseye 1-2-3. Then a hard wearing top coat.

Everything I've done has held up really well. I'm not so sure if it would with 3 small children though, depends how rough they are with your kitchen cupboards!

Thanks for the suggestions. I appreciate it. I can't paint the furniture because it's my granddaughter's. It was a gift from her aunt and belonged to her great grandmother ... and she loves it as is.

When she moved in she convinced me that I should not have my bedroom upstairs ... because I would be going up and down stairs frequently ... and, with my vertigo and age, it's a safety issue. And, I admit she's right. I have a gorgeous light oak bedroom set upstairs. I'd move it downstairs but it's too large for the room I occupy. She only plans to live with me another year at most and will take her set with her. I'll either need to put my set in the room - queen bed, two night stands, 9 drawer dresser -- and have room for nothing else ... or, I'll need to sell it and buy myself a new bedroom set for the main floor bedroom. Maybe that's part of the reason ... I love my bedroom set and resent not being able to use it, maybe?

Anyway, I did 4 chunks today ... so, still a lot to do but I'll get there!!

Well ... I got my 6 mile walk in ... but thats about it for today. Made 3 batches of cinnamon rolls .. one batch I was giving to a friend, and I grabbed a teaspoon instead of 1/2 tsp, so accidently tripled the salt. I was not sure if they would rise, so made another batch ... hence, made 3 batches. So now I have two large pans of cinnamon rolls here :s .

I froze 3 plates, gave out daughter some, and left out just enough for tomorrow .. but... I think hubby and I each had 2-3 tonite.

oh well .. new day tomorrow. I'm really tired, so this will be short.

    Goals for friday, 8/7
    1. go for LONG walk in the morning
    2. clean house
    3. log all food
    4. concentrate on water
    5. work on quilt top

@cesse47, I see, so not old tatty furniture, a family heirloom! Of course you can't paint that :) I wonder if you're reluctant to work in your bedroom as you know it's temporary, and you can't make the final decisions until your granddaughter moves out? I moved house this year and I can't have my lovely painted wardrobe in my room any more, my new room has sloping ceilings so there's no space for it. I now have 60 year old sliding doors in the eaves, they don't slide well. Guess what...I painted them lol. Kept me busy in lockdown. Hope you get the room feeling like "yours".

@cschmitz110515, I'm glad the extra calories are working for you. Who knew you could lose weight by eating more lol. I'm so used to sticking to 1200 cals that now I feel I have loads of calories, almost too many. I still feel odd when I have a dessert as I have so many calories left to use.

      JFT Thursday 6th August

      Log everything yes
      Stay in the green yes
      Back exercises no
      Foot exercises no
      5 fruit and veg 6
      Walk 35 minutes
      Weekly shop yes
Housework some, always bottom of the list!
Relax with a friend in the garden, so looking forward to this. yes, lovely chat

      JFT Friday 7th August

      Log everything
      Stay in the green
      Back exercises
      Foot exercises
      5 fruit and veg
      Walk
      Housework/sort out dining table
      Load car

Fed up of the news on TV going on and on about how hot the weather is, how it's the hottest day of the year in the UK. Our news is very South-of-England centric, very little mention of the north. (And when the north is mentioned, they usually mean the top half of England, not Scotland). It was weeks into lockdown before I realised that the UKgovernment announcements didn't apply to Scotland. How can the Prime Minister go on TV, say "I'm the UK Prime Minister", and then make statements that apply only to England without qualifying that?

Must stop ranting! If any of you are in the sunny spots, do enjoy the lovely weather. I'm cold, and it's raining again, definitely not the best day of the year here :)

Even up north around Cheshire, its not been sunny really, mostly cloudy with burst of sun but its not even felt warm tbh.
So even I've been looking at the bews like where on earth is this heatwave they're on about?! And like you say its mostly London based.

Today its looking a little sunnier though but I've only just got up out of bed so not even looked outside yet to see if its cloudy still.

@HEGoddard0928 - Is Panda a cat or a dog? We’ve been taking care of the class fish since the pandemic started and his name is Panda too! 🐼
Also, since you mentioned your budget, just thought I’d recommend the Dave Ramsey baby steps. If you haven’t heard of it before, he has books and a podcast that really help you learn the basics of budgeting and paying off debt. (Not sure if this applies to you or not, but it was pretty life changing for me and I can’t help but recommend it 🙂) When I left my job to stay home with the kids, I had to learn real quick how to manage a household on one income. I don’t listen to the podcast anymore, but I really learned some lessons that I’ve stuck with over the years. I love my budget spreadsheet! 💕🤑.

@Snowflake1968 - My plan was to touch up a few spots that were peeling, but once you start scraping, you can’t help but see more that needs to be done! I’m going to end up painting two main parts of the house. Honestly, more could be done and maybe I’ll end up doing the rest, but for now I just want to finish what I started! I’ll see if I can attach some pics...

      THURSDAY:
      - log it all 🟢/ stay green🟢
      - Clean fish tank🔴
      - Normal chores🟢 & budget update🔴
      - Paint!🟢
      - Deep clean dining room🔴
      - Softball game🥎

I got focused on painting yesterday and didn’t get indoor chores done. I’ll have to get those done first today before I head outside.

      JFT FRIDAY:
      - log everything and stay green
      - Clean fish tank (poor fish!)
      - Budget update
      - Dining room
      - Paint

      Feeling pretty rubbish.

All I seem to do at the moment is going around cleaning messes, only to turn around to find another mess

      And its all the girls.

I caught Saskia this morning throwing cereal on my floor and trying to blame Marley.
I've got crayon all over my glass fireplace and table. (Bear in mind they're not allowed crayons unsupervised so they've probably found a broken piece somewhere)
They constantly stand on the windowsill so that's always filthy and then the windows are always filthy.
I've got wee on my sofa from a leaked nappy.
I've got dirty feet marks on one of my wallpapered walls where the sofa is close to the wall. And they've ripped it and been picking the anaglypta since its been put up.

      Basically
How on earth do I get the kids to respect the house? THEIR house.

I find it really really upsetting.

And then they wonder why i never have time to sit and do stuff with them. And I've told them that but they just don't get it

Sounds like you've got a chicken and egg situation going on @Bex953172 .

If you can make the time to do things with them and/or get them outside for a walk/to a park etc, then they won't have so much time to get up to mischief.

Things like standing on the windowsill I would remove them and tell them that is not allowed. Every single time, whether they created about it or not. Remember, you're in charge!
