What are some of your unpopular opinions about food?

Salads should be eaten first. It drives me nuts when family members eat their whole meal then are “too full” for their salad. Same family members who say they can’t lose weight no matter what.4

For me, salads ARE the meal.4 -

I like a good salad for a meal, too. When have it on the side, I usually have it at the end of the main meal, but that's because it was how our Spanish father raised us. I don't know if they still carry on the habit in France and Spain, but in our experience, there the salad's eaten after the main meal as a kind of a palate cleanser. But I'll take any opportunity, in general, to eat a salad.6 -
Not sure if this makes sense or is the right thread to add to, but I feel like an unpopular opinion, or more so a misunderstood concept is nutrient density. People will spend $5 on a fast food burger and fries and complain about healthy food being expensive when that same $5 could by a more satiating and healthy greek yogurt + deli meat or tuna pouch, etc.5

There is no appeal to me for those over-the-top milkshakes that have all kinds of crap stacked on top of the milkshake. Like, on top of a milkshake, let's stack a doughnut, a cupcake, an ice cream sandwich, some Oreos, and cover it in chocolate sauce, whipped cream, caramel, etc. It just looks a mess, not appetizing at all. How do you even eat that? Just pick a dessert and go with it...you don't need ALL the desserts smashed together in a milkshake glass.
End rant about silly milkshakes.9 -

Ah yes, Instagram food. All aesthetics, not much function.5 -

I'd generalize that to silly bloody marys, among other stack'em'up bevs.1 -

Like RelCanonical said, anything that is basically created for social media shock...including stuff like this....

I only like it in salsa but can't eat it straight up0 -
Salad is only healthy if it isn't heavily covered in dressing and sauces.1

That's a great description of Nutella!
As someone who doesn't chocolate and hazelnuts - nutella is perfect, it doesn't taste like any of those1 -
True. Also, you can make a low cal dressing. I like to include a little olive oil, which ups the cals, but much less than in a traditional vinagriette, and if one wants just a good vinegar and a good mustard can make a nice dressing for few cals. So I don't get the "unhealthy" claim at all.
I still wouldn't "heavily cover" the salad, but salad is better with some kind of dressing IMO.3 -

This afternoon, I had just such a dressing of simple white balsamic vinegar and bit of mustard on a salad of pea shoots, bean sprouts, flavor bomb tomatoes, and a whole bunch of tiny lettuces harvested from my thriving little new Aerogarden.4 -

Add me to the "tastes like soap" gang.1 -

I like cilantro a lot (no weird genetic quirk making it taste bad here), but my favorite herb is probably dill, which is great in a basic salad and also goes with many other foods.2

Garlic is straight up DISGUSTING0

There is no such thing as a "bad food". There is just too much of a good thing sometimes.
Also restriction diets (like keto) won't work long term for 99% of people. Are you really never going to eat bread again? If you will, you are better off just learning to moderate because as soon as you break ketosis, you will go right back to gaining. Losing the initial weight isn't going to mean anything if you only did it by having a totally unnatural, unsustainable diet. You are still avoiding moderation in a restriction diet and you aren't changing your lifestyle habits. Take it from someone who had to learn the hard way!5 -
