Stupid reasons you have been sent to HR

I'll start ....
- Some days I take a 22 minute lunch instead of my full 30 minutes (oh the horror)
- 3 people reported to HR that I was sarcastically/non-enthusiastically clapping at a company meeting after being told that our company is still doing well despite Covid but that the people cut down to part time (myself included) are not going to return to full time until probably April '21

I was working on my beard while working at Walmart, because that's about the most fulfilling thing I could do there. One day, my department manager loudly proclaimed "You need to shave." Not appreciating this, I responded "No, Cindy, YOU need to shave."19

At the holiday party, I won a raffle prize...tickets to a concert.
I wasn't a fan of the band, so I gave them to a co-worker who was.
Got called into HR and told that I should not have given away my raffle prize without permission. So odd.6 -
In a previous role I was a manager. I got called into HR and asked to call one of my team into an "HR meeting" for a dress code violation.
What did he have on that was so problematic?
A tailored suit...but with knee-length shorts instead of pants.
😑
I'm all for being dandy and sartorial. Less of a fan for being dragged out of end of quarter client meetings to enforce a cryptic dress code that didn't even exist at the time. I was gentle with him but he was so embarrassed, offered to go home and change. I told him not to worry but you could see his morale was down the rest of the day because everyone was debating the matter (oh, yeah...this place also had gossipy cliques including at the C-suite level).
The guy - a great worker with initative - got poached by another large company soon after. He never looked back.
Couldn't blame him 🤷🏿♀️9 -
I picked a bad pineapple a whole one time and they tried to get me written up for it. I didn't technically get sent to hr because the manager over my manager wasn't crazy.4

Once upon a time I used to go for my rides on my lunch break...I would change into my cycling gear in my office and head out. Someone sent me up to HR because they thought my bike shorts were inappropriate because they are...well, cycling shorts and skin tight and whatnot, and she felt uncomfortable with me walking down the hall in that with my bike for all of 20 seconds before I made it outside to ride...8

lol I think I was editing as you typed.
A knee-length shirt though? Also pretty sartorial, if you ask me. Especially with cufflinks?! 😍
Wait...I think I just came up with a non-gendered trend.
See you at NYFW 2021 😭😂5 -
I wasn't sent to HR but was reprimanded at one job for wearing a band t-shirt. It was 2008 and I'd worn a fitted Beatles tee underneath a short velvet blazer with trouser jeans and nice heeled boots. On Casual Friday. When others wore team jerseys, ripped jeans, and the sneakers they mowed the lawn in. Okay!
I've gotta admit though I have counseled an employee for always wearing a men's XXL grey zip hoodie over her office clothing. She was a tiny girl in a front facing position and it just wasn't professional enough.4 -
your companies must have names like:

I just get emails from HR explaining the rules making it impossible for me to earn a living wage or qualify for insurance.5

I could never work in H.R.
If someone was dragged into my office for a stupid violation, I'd just offer them a cold beverage and then sit back and laugh with them about (and mock) the butthurt employees that complain about stupid *kitten*.
I'd then misplace their paperwork, and for their trouble, give the employee the rest of the day off to do as they please.9 -
i didn't get sent to HR for it, but a lady screamed at me for cleaning the bathrooms at work one time.
like i guess cause i was a guy i shouldn't have been the one in there doing it.
and i mean, the bathrooms had the "closed for cleaning" signs up and everything with the doors open and she still tried to walk in like it was the thing to do.
anyhow she was all "im calling your corporate office this is insane they're letting men clean the girl's bathroom up. you have NO business in here"
shift boss ended up telling her to leave the store or she'd call the cops and trespass her.
she left. idk if she actually reached out to corporate or not.6 -
The only time I was ever written up was for a communication with a supervisor.
It went something like this:
His message: We have a meeting in 15 minutes.
Me: I won't be attending.
Him: Why not?
Me: Because it's a *kitten* stupid waste of time; count me out.
I had given a 2 week notice earlier in the week. *shrug8 -
I was sent to the vice principal’s office in 8th grade for throwing hot dogs in the cafeteria.

I was yanked out of my 2nd grade class and made to stand before the man.
It was for slugging another student. The thing is, it wasn't me.
(it really wasn't ... this time.)
It was another 2nd grader with the same first name.
The principal didn't even apologize to me.... the *kitten* *kitten*7 -

I got on the bus to go to kindergarten and was promptly sent home for mooning the entire bus on a dare 😆
Still pretty proud of my kindergarten self7 -

Yup almost got fired for this .... fast forward a bit and the employee I cussed at got fired for snorting pills in the bathroom at work that she bought from another coworker who also happened to be caught stealing brass from the company to sell to a scrapyard by his home LOL 🤷♀️🤦♀️6
