I have a friend-date tonight, and while he offered to go out for dinner, I said no. Instead, I ate dinner at home with my partners, partly because that's what we do and partly because I don't know what's available near where my friend lives, and prefer to plan eating out within the context of a whole day, not spontaneously halfway through. Maybe next time I visit him.
Bad thing about loading up on carbs is that they make me really sleepy. I've had more energy today as the TOM starts to taper off, but the carbs I'm eating for snacks are seriously crashing me.5 -
@AlexandraFindsHerself when I decided to have a rest at maintenance before I upped my calories slowly then maintained for 2 weeks. You probably don’t have that kind of time but it worked well that way for me.
@iloveeggnog forever more I will remember your anniversary too on Noctober 19th!.
Today I got somethings done I needed to before next week. Then I logged but we don’t know what to have for dinner yet. Then the next priority was exercise. I checked air quality since smoke is coming in from California fires still but higher up in the atmosphere. It is down to medium air quality this week. But it is beautiful and sunny today so I wanted to take a walk and get some sun. I decided to not do a running interval but I couldn’t resist doing a one block interval. So I have now achieved one of my weekly goals to exercise at least 30 minutes every weekday. So far I have done the flights of stairs and upped my steps except for yesterday they were low. I did that video yesterday for exercise so no steps there. I went down in weight a bit more and at my lowest low today for the last few years. Have a great weekend all.7 -

My TOM week too! But I've dropped and then gained and dropped again so I hope I don't gain once it's finished in a few days! ❤3 -
It was really cold this morning and so I stepped on the scale in pajamas and weighed what I did two days ago nude. Not that I count that, but it's a nice thing to see.
I so far haven't been able to eat enough to hit the calories I "should" be eating at maintenance, but I'm doing my best. I really don't like eating all this sugar and simple carbs; I feel sluggish and sleepy all the time.2 -
Two words @AlexandraFindsHerself1971: Peanut butter. So yummy and calories dense. Personally I never have difficulty eating at maintenance level. My problem is staying under.3

@roz0810 Don't worry, most likely you'll whoosh and drop the weight!! I'm definitely dropping after just gaining and gaining each day this week. I weighed myself again this morning and went down two more pounds. So happy! Hopefully I can keep this up (or down, actually lol) for my next official weigh in. I have learned not to really pay attention to my weight during TOM, I usually don't even weigh myself. This week I got curious and wanted to see the numbers climb and drop.

Name: Jane
Age: 55
Height: 5' 9''
SW: 286.5 (6/3/19)
9/30 weight: 166.1
Maintenance Weight Range:162-168
Weekly tracking:
10/3: 167.6
10/10:
10/17:
10/24:
10/31:
October Goals goals:
Maintain my weight between 162 and 168 🎃
Log food daily 👻
Row or Run at least 6x's a week 🎃
Get at least 45 "active" minutes a day 🎃
Get at least 10,000 steps/day 🎃
I'm continuing to be bad at night, after I've completed my diary and just before I go to bed, having a little carb attack and eating unnecessary food. This is a really old, bad habit of mine. One I need to be extra mindful of and break. I always say there are no bad foods, just bad logging. Well this is logging at it's worst. Time to shape up, Jane. Just because you are at your goal doesn't mean you can relax. In fact, this is the time when I need to be most vigilant.
Extra night carbs meant extra water weight in the morning, so here I am, near the top of my range on a day when I got a full eight hours of sleep, so I gotta stay focused at night. No walking through the kitchen on the way to bed.
Rest of the goals are going great. Had a nice 6 mile run today.5 -
When I actually start maintenance for real I won't, because I'll expand my stomach a little bit by drinking with my meals and eating bigger portions. It's just that that's not worth doing for two weeks.
I had a peanut butter sandwich for lunch. I just can't snack on peanut butter and apples or celery, so that makes it tough. (I really don't like the mouthfeel of raw celery.)2 -

Hi, happy to have just found this thread!
My stats are:
age 46
HW 255
CW 248
goals for October:
cut back my drinking to only 2 drinks max Friday or Saturday (been using alcohol too much to cope the past 6 months)
no eating after dinner (I am a night snacker)
walk for at least 30 minutes 4 times a week
I've been so down since March and am hoping to get back on track with a few modest goals this month. In July & August, the family and I were going on 3- or 4- mile hikes almost every day, but my late night snacking and daily drinking prevented any progress.
We hiked along the beach at Assateague, MD today for about an hour and a half total (and walking on sand is TOUGH) and even with a little wine tonight I am at my calorie goal for the day. 😊8 -
🎃Are you trying to accomplish anything in the three months before we finally leave 2020 behind us forever? Or are you just trying to make it through?
My goal by end of year to get to 209
Age: 45
Height: 5’0”
HW: 230 - Sept 2020
Oct 1 weight - 223
CW - 222 (Oct 3) - I weigh in on Saturdays.
Goal to lose around a pound a week.
End of month goal: 218
I aim to log in every day in October to track food.
Not give up if I have to eat out with friends or at work and make good food and portion choices.
Keep going and don’t quit just if there are a few hiccups here and there.3 -
I'm excited to tell you all about the start of my week 4 couch25k run, I did it with relative ease, I decided to choose a route that is level with no inclines! So maybe that's why I could power through? I walked 5min, ran 3min, walk 90sec, run 3min, walk 90 sec, run 5min and end with a cool-down walk, felt fantastic, tried to concentrate on lifting my legs properly and relaxing shoulders, breathing deep breaths. I came back feeling like I could accomplish anything! So a definite NSV! I had a moment of eating extra bread on Friday after 2 glasses of wine I had allocated became 3! That's the first time in 7 months I have done that, but I didn't beat myself up and didn't go crazy. However, I noticed the scale has gone up today. Tomorrow is weigh-in day, no matter what will be kind to myself and remember my NSV!
Well done to your losses and NSV! October is summer for us, although its been pouring with rain for 2 days (Yip I went out in the wet)11 -
Well done on the C to 5k ! It's a great feeling of achievement!5
-
Last month was awful. Went about 2.5wks without any progress & felt SO frustrated! I decided to give myself a few days away... still weighing daily, not going nuts Calorie-wise... but not logging as closely & not worrying about going over just a bit.
Finally saw a loss this morning! Down 2.6lbs overnight. Still doesn’t quite get my trend line down where it should be (short by about 0.5lbs) but I am very relieved & ready to attack this weight loss thing again!11 -
I'm just popping on to say that I was at my Mom and Dads today and they had homemade sugar donuts from the lady next door...and I LOVE them! We used to love when she would make them when we were kids and I probably havent had one of hers in 20 years. BUT I didnt plan for it and today is a rest from exercise day. So I managed to leave it, in all its deliciousness where I found it! I may dream about it for a week or two lol but I stayed under goal.13

well done eggnog!3

Monday Check-in
SW 230.78 lbs (16/03/2020) 104.9 Kgs
28/09 75.8 Kg 166.76 (-1Kgs) (-2.2lbs)
5/10 75.7 kg 166.54 (-0.1kg) (-0.22lbs)
Hardly worth recording. I had a good loss on Friday but wobbled over the weekend and we took my Dad out to a local pizza joint, and honestly, I battled to find a healthy choice, had a grilled chicken burger with sweet potato crisps, but ate all carbs and had two glasses of white wine, didn't eat supper. So this is life happening and I recorded a tiny tiny loss.
Need to be intentional about drinking water this week and less coffee! Its a difficult week as my son is starting exams tomorrow, so high stress even for me and the travelling backwards and forwards is stressful as he only goes in for his exam then I fetch and bring home, and we live 30 mins away. And I'm trying to focus on my job (real estate) which is stressful anyway and making sure my Dad is ok. On the Dad front, he came with us to Church yesterday and had a real encounter with God, quite a moment in his life as he has never been saved. If any of you are Christians you will understand how important it is, my Dad is going to go for counselling with our Pastor this week.7 -
That's so great your dad is getting support and good experiences!1
-
haha thanks everyone
@changeforeverlj What a wonderful experience for your Dad...and you; especially after the tumultuous week before!
So this week was a little frustrating and I was cranky for a lot of it. But I watched my calorie intake and I did my exercise...it was begrudgingly because I expect weight loss to be linear when I KNOW it isn't.
This morning is weigh-in day and I was rewarded.
Highest Weight: 250
Starting Weight 242 (June 1, 2020)
Starting Weight October: 199
Current Weight October 5, 2020: 196
I am four pounds away from a fifty pound weight loss!!! I still haven't had to get rid of a LOT of clothes...so I'm looking forward to another 10 or so gone cause I think that will take me to nakedness and the need to buy new!
Have a great week folks! For us Canadians, Thanksgiving is at the end of this week...first major holiday for me on this journey. I have plans in place to not blow it! Good luck to my fellow Canucks as you navigate it as well!8 -
Boyfriend is still adjusting to his medication and therefore sleeping a lot. Today I'm hanging hooks in the laundry room to hang the sweater dryers from when not in use, hanging up the sleeve board, and generally getting stuff up on the wall and off the floor as planned.
And it's SO much easier to go up and down that ladder and hold that drill over my head steady without that extra weight on me. I can't say enough to people about how much easier daily life is once you've lost a chunk of weight; I started noticing 20 pounds in, and now at nearly 50 it's something my partners notice too. I find it very reinforcing; if just eating sensibly and keeping to my calorie limit is all I have to do for this to work, then I'm very motivated to keep being able to move and do stuff instead of sit and ache.8 -
@illoveeggnog Well done for saying No to the donuts! And wow you have lost a lot of pounds! That's great that you have plans to get through your Thanksgiving weekend without blowing it! But this is life for us, we will have to figure out how to negotiate all these celebrations with food etc and not use them as an excuse to slip into old habits. Happy Thanksgiving for later on in the week!3

Weighed in! Lost 3.8 pounds
September 28 - 233
October 5 - 229.2
Every pound counts. I'm trying to remember it's not a race. Losing weight takes time. I just so bad want to get to my goal. I will get there ❤️10 -
@AlissaAMTaylor 3.8 pounds in 1 week is amazing! I understand being impatient, but it will come. Also remember that most people lose a lot of weight in their first 2 weeks. After that, things slow down to a normal rate of loss. So remember that if you get discouraged when week 3 or 4 only shows only 1pound lost, or even none. It's totally normal and just because you aren't losing weight, doesn't mean you aren't losing fat.
Congratulations @iloveeggnog and @AlexandraFindsHerself1971 on your "so close to to 50 # mark" achievements. It's huge losing that much weight. Think about how you might reward yourself when you reach that milestone. Something that isn't food and that will still fit you went you reach goal. I'm a big believer in rewards as motivation. But being able to make multiple trips up and down a step ladder or run a 5K is its own reward too.5 -

Last week I achieved my goal of getting exercise every week day and kept my calories down. This week is going to be much busier though. I have kept calories below my calorie goal throughout the weekend. I am not finished meal planning and I won't be able to cook or exercise on Thursday. However I really want to lose this week. I have to do one really important thing today before I can exercise or anything else. Have a great week all!5

Hello Ladies! I'm happy to have found this group for accountability.
I had gotten down to about 200lbs in Jan 2015 after a heartbreak in Aug/Sept 2014, by putting that hurt into 20-30min workouts 4-5 days/week. Even though I had a little more to go to reach my goal (10-20lbs), I was feeling good & looking good 😁💃🏾😎. I met someone else and feeling/looking good lasted about 9 months, before I found out I was pregnant with our son. I only gained 28-30lbs during my pregnancy, but I never got back into working out and watching my intake, so I started gaining more & more.
I went to a Dr. appointment in July and that's when I found out I wound up getting back to my max weight of 270lbs! 😬 Then I decided that enough was enough! I began working out at home in Aug and I just enrolled in a virtual fitness class at my college for more accountability. I want to feel better about myself. Working out and maintaining under 200lbs certainly helps me with that. I am currently 2.5 semesters away from earning my bachelor's degree, and I REALLY want to feel/look fly walking across that stage, so here's to meeting goals and maintaining success!
Feel free to add me if, like myself, you enjoy giving/receiving supportive & constructive comments/love 😊
