Round 130
Please join us! Starting on 10/24 JUST GIVE ME 10 DAYS, we will begin Round 130
Anyone can join us at anytime during the round.
Join us! If we stay mindful we can do this, you can do this.
Welcome back past members, welcome new members, let's keep each other accountable for another 10 days!
Here is what you do: Post your daily weight and add little comments along the way of how your day went. Post everyday to let us know how you're doing! Copy and paste the days in your response--tell us how much you lost and other non scale victories (NSV) you'd like to share.
FOR NEWBIES - I find it easiest to copy the dates to a document or note in my device and edit it each morning. Then copy and paste to the message board. MFP will return you to the spot on the board where you left off on your previous visit which is nice to know if you like to scan all of the posts.
Goals
- check in at least every other day

10/24 198.4 yesterday was difficult very sluggish Friday. Plus one of my niece's is some serious trouble. Never good to read it in the news...Anyways 8 and hours of workout this week 727 zone minutes almost 18000 steps today. Results showed earlier in the week but now show a minimum change.. Eating steak late tonight. Went to a restaurant and sat down and ran out the door. Eeeeewwwww! You really don't want to know what I saw!

Starting weight for this round: 217lb
Goal weight for this round: 215 lb
Food/Activity goals for this week:
Continue 16:8 Intermittent Fasting
Continue to log fasting blood glucose
Continue to plug away at my Obé "Harder AF" 28 day challenge.
Start Week 4 of C25K. I keep getting distracted.
Day/Weight/Comment
10/24 Weight 217, FBG 98. I did not start out the challenge in a healthy way. I had beignets for breakfast, and then fried shrimp for lunch, and no amount of exercise is going to save the day. But I must say it was a lovely day, and I am fully prepared to make up for it in the next week.

Goals
- Drink fewer than 36 oz of Diet Pepsi a day (you don’t even know where it’s been... I started cutting down this week and am shocked that it’s been as easy as it has been, but I expect speed bumps along the way.)
- Pre-plan breakfast and lunch (and eat the meals I plan)
- Snack only on fruit and veggies
SW: 165.8
CW: Not sure what it is today because my scale was out of batteries when I woke up and I’m surely not weighing later in the day! Last weigh-in was 154.4.
This round goal: 152
10/24 - 154.4
It wasn’t a healthy eating day, but I managed to stay in my calorie goals and avoided snacking! Also, I hit exactly 36 oz of Diet Pepsi today. We will celebrate the little things. I also noticed that others posted a cycle goal so I’ve added that.

10/24 134.2 - 8.82 miles walled yesterday, 566 calories in green, all macros in green. Feeling more positive now & working towards getting back to where I was, always takes longer to claw back!
Good job getting control so quickly! May I ask where you have your macro goals set? I can't do keto, but would like to know what is a better goal for me for carbs. Instinctively I know I feel more full when my protein intake is high, but I've never tracked a particular number. I know to cut out the stupid carbs which are what my body craves when I quit trying or get depressed or whatever. I've lost this weight I'm now carrying before (here on MFP a few years ago), but I never tried to track macros really.
I just use the default macros on MFP , it adjusts to giving additional with the extra walking that I do. Up until I had gallbladder & stones surgery 3 years ago I had adjusted it for a very very low fat intake, but no longer need to do that so it is back at the default setting. I couldn't do keto either, it would give me a lot more fat & I think that would start to give me problems again.
Hope this helps6 -
@xxxSheilaxxx - well done on your achievement, a truly admiral success. Sending you positive vibes for your next goal xx1

JUST GIVE ME 10 DAYS ~|~ Round 130 (round 60 for me ) I'm in for another round – I really need the accountability! As always, thank you @GrandmaJackie such a brilliant champion particularly in these unprecedented & unsettled times, helping keep some stability in our lives, for setting up these challenges.
Female age 62 5' 4” - Achieved goal weigh of 125lb in summer 2016 by losing 66lb and have gradually gained between 7 and 11 since then; I don't want to gain any more, but would like to get back to my goal weight – I'm working at it – it's a permanent way of life !
Challenge for this round will be to get back into 133s. Stick with good habits; be mindful of what I eat & drink, keep walking, no binges, keeping the 10 days binge free makes such a difference!

THERE ARE NO QUICK FIXES OR SHORTCUTS to achieving permanent change.
REMINDERS: One or two thoughts which might give heart to some of you.- Daily weight fluctuations are normal, and can be as much as 2 lbs a day for no apparent reason.
- A general downward trend is what we are looking for.
- Eating out can cause apparent weight gain because of high sodium levels, but usually goes quickly. Drinking extra water helps with this.
- The human body does not react instantly to what we do to it. Sometimes it can take several days to see results.
- Plateaus are a normal part of the process. The body is consolidating and adapting to your new way of eating/exercising.
- The closer you get to your goal weight, the more difficult it becomes to lose weight, as your body becomes more efficient at using what you feed it.
- When you exercise you build muscle, which takes up less space than fat, so use measurements as well as weight to assess your progress.
- Getting/Staying fit and healthy requires a lifestyle change for most people.

Next overall goal is to get back to 142.4, which was my last recorded weight before COVID (was mid-Feb).
For this round, I am trying to be realistic, both my birthday and Halloween are during these 10 days. So I am trying to take off one more pound during the 10 days, while remembering to remain under 145 for my birthday which was my previous goal.

You are an inspiration!! It's the fresh fruit I love and that I don't really want to give up. I've used cauliflower and broccoli with a little pine nut hummus as munchies this week and I think that's what's kickstarted me off so well. Actually, come to think of it, those have been lunch a few times, too. Yesterday, as a snack after just a boiled egg for lunch, I substituted about an ounce of hard cheese in place of things I might have eaten other times. It satisfied and I lost more weight in this morning's weigh in.3 -
I just use the default macros on MFP , it adjusts to giving additional with the extra walking that I do. Up until I had gallbladder & stones surgery 3 years ago I had adjusted it for a very very low fat intake, but no longer need to do that so it is back at the default setting. I couldn't do keto either, it would give me a lot more fat & I think that would start to give me problems again.
Hope this helps
Like you, I have had my gallbladder removed, and coincidence or not, I had been on Atkins diet way back then, which was very high fat and protein and very low carb. After that, I felt like the super high fat stuff didn't make sense for me. I'm afraid of more problems, too. Since I posted my question to you yesterday, I've gone back and paid attention to my macros (set automatically in MFP), and I've been under 100 each day this past successful week, and sometimes significantly less than that. But my protein has not been high enough most days. Thanks to everyone who responded though. You've given me lots to think about and I appreciate the wisdom you shared!
Question for anyone: do you recommend protein supplements (I am NOT doing gym work though--my exercise right now consists of increasing amounts of walking and repeatedly lifting and carrying my granddaughter, lol) to get proteins high enough? I will be increasing bodyweight exercises over time, but slowly. If so, what do you use?1 -

Day/Weight/Previous Day’s Comment
10/24 219.6 Walked 3 miles this evening, tracked, AF. Long car drive returning from the camp. Yesterday I felt like I’m back in sync with following my better habits and plans I started in August. Still in the teens but really sorry to not see the 218 on the scale that I saw earlier in the week before the camp. I know why given my choices at the camp. It’s in the past … moving on.
10/25 218.0 Walked 6 miles, tracked, 4 glasses of wine.
My kids came into town to surprise me for a birthday dinner they prepared at my daughters new condo. It was wonderful and in my plan - steak, brussels sprouts and this yummy Keto Blueberry Lemon Cheesecake Bars (my DIL added crushed pecans to the crust). The only issue was the wine was flowing freely and I indulged.

Congratulations on using the COVID times well, and congrats on being in a good place. I was there in 2017, and then I lost my mindset that was keeping me there. (Long drawn out story of excuses).
Looking at my 2020 numbers, I apparently held on well enough (no gain, no loss) during the first COVID months (march and april) while hubby and I were down in the Keys. Then we came home. Not sure what aspects made me spiral but May - Sept put 10 new pounds on me that I had not seen in years.3 -

👍🏼👍🏼 This is NOT A DIET. It’s a LIFESTYLE. 👍🏼👍🏼
I need this challenge even more now, consistency is the key!5 -
My main goal is not to be elated or devastated by the scale. It has been a very long, emotionally painful journey with my weight, all of my life. I want so badly to escape my food addiction. I never want to be 338lbs. again but I know it could very well happen. I don’t want to be 115lbs. again because at that weight I was losing my hair and I was sick all of the time and exercising four hours a day, eating less than 800 calories. I just want moderation!
This daily weigh-in has been a good discipline. Hard to get too excited or upset over the scale when one sees how much fluctuation happens regardless of my caloric intake and exercise.
I limit myself to a manageable 3.5 mile run each day, a 20 min morning workout and a 10 minute bedtime workout. And I eat 1,200 6 days a week and 3,600 one day a week. (My high-protein day). No added sugar. No meat.
STARTING WEIGHT: 338lbs on January 1, 2014

I will be increasing bodyweight exercises over time, but slowly. If so, what do you use?
@UtMom81 I happen to be including a protein powder as part of my breakfast. That is the meal that it would normally be more lacking for me. Background, 2017 I got down around 126 (daughters wedding) and had a little creep. The following summer I decided to go for Keto to clean up a few pounds, but also due to the claim it would help with brain function, which I was most exited by. Anyhow, I did it for 6 weeks and loved it, until I had a major hemorrhoid flare that ultimately led to surgery. Probably did Keto wrong, or it was wrong for me body. Anyhow, I know need to pay attention to my fiber content. My savior was Fiberone cereal for breakfast with some form of milk. When I started working with my macros numbers, that breakfast no longer worked, but I could not give up the fiber one. So now, I use a flavored protein powder, 1 TB chia seeds mixed with 1/3 cup water and allowed to absorb for 15 - 30 min. Then I add 4.5 ounce ff greek yogurt and swirl together (i like the contrasting ribbons of taste). That is all topped off with 26 grams of Fiberone cereal. From that, I meet my fiber requirement (21g) for the day, 42g protein start, and iron is also an issue and I get 31% or iron RDA (menopausal women only require 50%).
So that is me. I happen to use the Quest protein powders. Peanut butter is my favorite at the moment. I have chocolate, vanilla, PB and salted caramel.0 -
