SandTiger's work in progress thread - starting weight 245

Thank you to everyone who responded, I really appreciate the support. SmallMimi, I tried to stay flexible... but this large gut of mine was preventing me from doing a proper toe touch. Now that it's smaller it's not blocking me! I carry the vast majority of my weight in my belly region, unfortunately.
Progress update:
I had my designated cheat day on the 24th and yesterday noticed another small loss with another bigger loss today. So I'm back on plan and on a losing trend, just as I was planning. So I'm at 54 pounds lost now, and still working at it. The kittens are massively rambunctious, healthy babies full of mischief.

I am a little in love with your cats.
Congratulations on being brave enough to post a thread like this, and for losing 54lb already. That's an incredible accomplishment.
Here's to the journey, you amazing lady, you!1 -
Congratulations! Keep up the great work!0

Here's a goofy cat picture for Hump Day - I'm in a mini plateau so my stats are about the same.

Updated weight of 292? Did you mean 192?1

Yeah, I would have meant 192. Fortunately I haven't gotten much above 250 in my life. However, unfortunately, it's too late to edit!2 -
All right! Time for an update! Sorry for the slightly blurry photo but it's showing fat loss and muscle development in my legs. Also forearms are just barely starting to show veins. My weight lifting has been lackluster as of late but I still get in squats and plenty of kicking in the pool.
Stats:
Weight is 185.6, Body Fat 36 percent, Muscle Mass 26.5 percent, BMI 32.9.
Also, kittens.

Wow! What a difference from your original photo.
And cute kittens :-)2 -
So true, Xiaolongbao! I can almost forget how far I've really come because I have a tendency to hyperfocus on things like the fact that I still have a big belly. It sags a lot more than it did, though! Looking at these photos makes me realize my progress, and also that I need to clean my mirror.3

Current weight: 183.5. I decided to make a proper face comparison shot. I can see a pretty big difference which makes me happier since my weight loss has slowed down quite a bit. Part of that is because I've had to be off my thyroid meds for a while due to supply issues. Part of it is because my basic metabolic needs have gone down from 2400 cal a day to 1800 cal a day. So I need to move more in order to keep burning off fat. Anyway, here's the comparison photo, and a pic of the kittens. They are 16 weeks old on Monday.

Update: I have to celebrate somewhere so I'm celebrating here.
As of this morning's weigh-in I've reached 179.7 pounds, with 34.4% fat percentage and 27.2 muscle, and a BMI of 31.7.
Woohoo! Currently losing at a rate of roughly 5 pounds per month so I need to step up my activity a little more. Even if I don't though, I'll be at or near goal by the time I go back in office sometime in January or February. Here's a pic from about ten days ago.
Oh, and of the kittens too because I know that's what everybody's really here for. Nishiko loves Brother Hiroshi!

You're doing so well!2

Now here I am at 165 - fat percentage is 30.2 and muscle is 29.4. BMI 29.2 so I'm OUT of obese range. Sorry for the bad lighting. My shirt is an extra large - and it's too big on me, but I figured I should make a progress photo anyway. That's my boy Hiroshi photobombing the shot! Just for fun I'm also including recent kitten pics. They are almost cat sized!

Thanks - and as for motivation, sometimes it's hard to maintain, that's for sure. My biggest thing is not exercising enough. So if I can do it, slacking a bit along the way, I'll bet you can too. Just be patient with yourself and don't give up. That's the biggest thing.4 -
Amazing progress and I adore your kitties1

Amazing progress! Look at those legs! That is some serious dedication paying off. I really needed to see this today.
How else have you changed? Energy / happiness etc?2 -

Thanks! My calves have always been pretty muscular but it's nice to have things slimming down.
To answer your question, I have so much more energy now. I feel happier and also feel more in control of my life. I'm no longer ashamed of my weight and talk freely about it, no longer embarrassed to be in pictures. Even though I still have a fairly large amount of fat and skin on my belly, I know that it's finally going AWAY and can treat myself as a work in progress. Also, even with eating smaller portions, I enjoy my food more, and I love the taste of vegetables and whole grains. I've become more interested in cooking and like making up new recipes. Basically I sound like all the people I used to be envious of, who said stuff like this, when I still thought it couldn't be done.
Update today. I am at 163.4, body fat percentage 30, muscle percentage 29.8, BMI 28.9. For the first time I'm in a healthy muscle percentage for my age group, and that's only going to improve as my fat drops off. Also my body fat is no longer in a dangerous level. I'm well out of "Obese" range too. So I'm quite happy indeed!9 -
You look awesome and so happy to hear you're feeling great too! Energy and happiness are contagious, love it! Be proud of all your hard work!1

Wowsa! You are doing an amazing job! I loved reading through your thread and seeing all your photos. Makes me realize I need to take progress photos as well! But YOU look awesome, and have done SO well! Do you walk alot, or have a step goal? Just curious. Keep up the good work!1
-
Look at YOU!!! I love your attitude and your kitties both as always.1

As a fellow PCOSer...great work! You are doing amazing. Also, look at the calves! My calves have always been a bit on the large size but when I lost weight prior to having my first daughter (7 years ago I went from 210 to 159) I finally was loving my leg muscles.
Super cute kittens too!1 -

Thanks all! I appreciate every comment.
I don't really have a step goal other than "move some every day." I used to try to walk every day, whether it was laps around my office building or walks outside, but since the 'Rona put everything to a halt I use my mini stepper, or exercise bands, squats or countertop pushups, or free weights, kettlebell, or swimming when it's warm enough to do that. I count grocery shopping as a slow walk 'cause it is, and I do little things like baking my own bread and doing all my own kneading, etc, or scrubbing the kitchen. It all helps. That said, I should still exercise more.5 -
Wow- thanks for the pictures. You are truly inspiring. Great job!
