I love all of these! That wall hanging one is soooo inventive and awesome!
My older cat would ignore it nicely, but my younger cat would be like...

So , I was not going to put my Artificial Christmas Tree up this year because , no one will be coming over to visit me due to the covid-19 .
But this thread has inspired me , to put my Christmas tree up and send pictures to my loved ones who can't be here with me .
So here is my tree .
I put up yesterday .

It is gorgeous!! I'm glad this thread inspired you. I know the lights make me so happy... The colors and warmth touch my spirit.
Hopefully your tree will bring you a bit of joy over the difficult times we have. ❤️4 -

Ha, this is awesome, but would not work with my cats. They go after hanging decorations on the walls.
Did you make this yourself with found twigs? It's really clever!
They're mostly past the kitten stage so kind of ignore it. One of them did get into my grandmother's nativity set and broke the leg of baby Jesus.
Yes, I found the branches and had the twine, glad you like it!4 -

Because I wanted to. It's pretty. I don't see the point in going through the trouble of setting up the tree for such a short period of time.4 -

I normally wait until the first weekend in December... but this year has been a hard year (for many reasons outside covid) and it brings us joy.
When my kids, who in past years haven't cared about the tree, asked specifically to set it up... I jumped at it. And honestly, I'm glad I did. My home office is in the adjoined room and I've been doing 14h days. The multicolored lights and memories calm me. I've appreciated that calming greatly this week.

Sometimes I leave the tree up for too long after Christmas too. 😁 I'm with you, it's just nice to look at and it's your own place you can do whatever you want. 🤷🏻♀️ I might just turn into Mariah Carey and be all about that Christmas life head to toe.
🤔
Just had a genius idea. Each room stays in a different holiday theme all year! Halloween, Christmas, Easter ect. 😁😎4 -

I may steal this idea just to hang some ornaments for a change, I have a lot of the old family ones that haven't been used in decades. With two dogs who think everything is a chew toy and tails that can sweep a coffee table clear, I've only put up a little fiberoptic tabletop tree for years. Well... and laziness... it's way quicker and easier.
If I bother with the tree this year it'll probably get set up a few days before the 25th.3 -

Because 25 days of maximum joy are simply not enough. We need more joy in our lives.
Do you have a real or artificial tree? I agree on needing joy but I'm not sure how a tree factors into the equation of maximum joy?
to each their own really. how does one define how they attain a level of joy. for me... there is a feeling that I associate with Christmas trees, lights, and music that takes me back to a simpler time when Christmas was magical. Even if it's for a second, I can look at it and I'm transported back to a time from before bills, divorce, illness, stress, and worry. I am that little kid with her family, trimming the tree and looking forward to Santa.
Sure reality slaps me hard in the face shortly thereafter... but I just look back again.
My tree is artificial. So it works. And it will come down when it no longer feels magical.10 -

Mainly for my kids, this year has been pretty crappy and thought it would bring us some cheer. Plus when I was a kid my Mom was usually the last in our street to put ours up and I hated it. Mine is usually always up on December 1st though. 😁
This year has been crappy for every individual on earth, truth be told. I hope you and your children have a lovely holiday1 -

Yep and brand new. I just light a candle for that real tree smell. Real trees are cool but they’re sticky, leave pine needles everywhere, toxic to pets and ya, killing a whole tree for a few weeks of being in your house 🤷🏻♀️.
Maybe since people are more environmentally conscious these days maybe we can start a tradition of planting trees instead. On the same ish thought though what do we do with all the artificial trees? If you keep them for years and years it might still be better than chopping trees all the time. 🤔
🤷🏻♀️I still like the real trees too.5 -

I'm in Italy, but grew up on a farm in Minnesota. We always had a real tree--just went out to the grove my Dad planted for a windbreak behind our house. When I married an Italian and wound up in an apartment in Rome, 35 yrs ago, I had to have a real tree. I went and bought one at the flower shop. It was 3 ft tall and very expensive. Very few of my ornaments fit on it. Traditionally the Italians put up their tree the 8th of Dec (Immaculate Conception--big holiday) and take it down after Jan 6th (Ephifany--big holiday). Even though my tree was sold with the root ball, it dried out, kept losing needles, and was awful looking at the end. We live on 5th floor, and I had to wrestle that tree into the elevator and
out to the garbage, losing needles all the way and scratched me up worse than a furious cat. It was just too sad. I did this for 2 yrs and then broke down and bought an artificial tree. I tried to get as close to a real look as I could. I bought a 6 footer and all my ornaments fit. It's now over 30 yrs old.
My ornaments give me joy because as I put them on one by one--every one has a story. My grandmother handmade some, friends made or gave me others (I remember them at this time), I bought others on trips,.... When my sons were little, we'd turn on the lights at night, put on Christmas music and they'd dance around our living room with the joy of it all. Now my little grandsons will do the same. My Italian husband is the one who loves the tree the most. He didn't have one as a kid. He keeps pushing me to put it up.9 -

My tree is from my mom and dad... They got it when I was 17 😊. It's been around 27 years!5 -
Still in a debate with myself on whether to get a tree this year or not. Our kids won't be coming for Christmas and I think seeing the tree, being reminded of our home's silence, it may be too much nostalgia for me to handle this time around. Dh doesn't care one way or another. Holidays and their magic were always created by me versus dh anyways and I'm just not feeling it this year. Just not sure which I'm going to regret more.
My home was always filled with the essence of Christmas throughout, whether Christmas music or holiday specials, daycare kids' crafts hanging everywhere on the walls and tree, to be gathered up before break and sent home to decorate their own lives. Plates and plates of Christmas cookies being divided up for daycare families and neighbors.
Nah, Christmas may be simply an unmarked step between our quiet Thanksgiving and our hopeful New Year. But if we do get a tree, I'll post it.
I do love all your pictures though; they are very magical and touch on the spirit and light of Christmas5 -
I'm posting another one of mine... Lol

People go to tree farms to chop trees or if you purchase already chopped the trees are literally grown for only this purpose.5 -

Ya I'm not a expert. I'm not even particularly environmentally friendly myself but I can see the point of view.0
