Hello hello, I've actually been using myfitnesspal for the past 8 months but started browsing the online community part! This app has def helped me lose a bunch of weight and keeps me on track I love to cook and I look foward to jogging again on top of being healthy just as soon as it's warm outside again LOL.1

Hello. I'm William Main. I was born in November of '56. I'm a retread. I've been a member of other groups on here before. I'm about to start the Mediterranean Diet and try to lose a little more weight. I just left WW, which I like, but I want to try this for awhile as I love some of the foods that are very high in points on WW. I'm a father of 3, grandfather of 5 and husband of one for the last 39 years. Hope to meet more of you here soon! God bless.1

Hello all,
I have used MFP off and on for years, but just realizing the community aspect. I am totally needing some accountability buddies. I run and try to workout daily (super consistant with running, but lack motivation to be consistant with the other stuff), and have gotten a tad lazy with my diet. I'd love to meet some new like-minded people to motivate each other!2 -
I could learn a lot from you, in that I too am trying to lose tons of weight (50 to 75 lbs to be exact). But my routines are the opposite of yours: I do loads of cardio, but hardly any strength. I can’t stay still long enough. I need to move.
So I think we could help each other.

That is what is great about this community, everyone has something to offer someone else. It doesn’t matter what stage of this we are in each of our experiences has some benefit to someone else.
Digging deeper into my story-
When I started out I was doing a lot of cardio in the beginning as well. I had to do that just to build my endurance. It was so challenging that I often thought of sitting in my car in the parking lot and then driving home to tell my wife I did my workout. I NEVER though I had it in me to stick with it. Here I am 1.5 years later and going at it harder than ever!
I slowly built up my cardio time and then started to take time away by added strength training. I found what has worked for me with excessive and eating habits was that I was not committed enough to follow someone else’s plan. I have researched so many different opinions and plans and slowly adapted things from them to develop what I could commit to and what has given me the results I was looking for. I do feel that had I committed to someone else’s plan I could be further along in this process, but I also could and most likely would have thrown in the towel by now.
The biggest thing for me is that I never set a lofty goal. I just want to be consistent and make small gains and enjoy the process!
So I say all that to say that it sounds like you are on track to making positive progress. The key to weight loss is watching our calorie intake. We can do all the exercise, cardio and strength but if we are not in a caloric deficit we will not lose that fat that we have accumulated. Are you using the calorie tracker as well?1 -

Hi, my name is Jennifer and I have used this app for many years, each to certain degrees. I am back to using it as a full on tool again. I lost 70lbs the last time I did and I am looking forward to do so again. I am an avid weightlifter and split cardio times between running 5Ks and cycling, but I broke my right wrist in several places and it took me out of commission for 6 months. I also suffer from PCOS and have put on a lot of weight in the 6 months off. Looking forward to getting back on track. Taking my weightlifting, cardio and dieting back to basics.

Click on the person's username (underneath their profile photo), then click on their username a second time on the next page, THEN click the green "Add as friend" button.
On my phone (Android)...
ETA: I gave up after getting "This user's feed is private" for, like, 7 people.
Take all of the above with a grain of salt because - irony of ironies - I don't typically "friend" on MFP so have zero clue how many iterations there are to do so 🤷🏾♀️

I am NOT precisely new to this tool as I tried it earlier this year. My doctor recommended me this tool to control my food intake, and she was disappointed by the daily intake suggested by MFP. She stated that it was really high (2460/day). This time, I decided to give it a second try. I realized how informative this application is.2

I created a MFP account all the way back in 2013, used it for a few months and then abandoned it. Then recently just around Thanksgiving (2020) while working with my nutritionist I expressed the desire to start tracking my intake again and my nutritionist answered without hesitation to utilize MFP when I asked for a "good app to track intake with". So, I've been back on here, trying to be good about entering my food each day. I'm a 60 year old female with a lifelong history of being overweight. Over the few years I have lost weight and kept it off (so far). In 2014 I went vegetarian and gained weight and then in 2017 I went vegan and then 2018 I started to dabble with a more WFPB (whole foods, plant based) way of eating and love this way of eating. But I am so much more vegan than WFPB since I still struggle with added sugar and oil intake. But my goal now is keep exploring cutting back my added sugars and see if I can do it1

Hi Everyone. I used this app in the past (like 15 years ago?) with success, but am struggling to lose weight currently. Having holiday cookies lingering in my house for weeks did not help my situation, but as I go through old photos, I decided that I really need to get to my goal weight. If anyone has any advice on how to curb cravings for sweets, I would appreciate it!0

Hello to the millions of other folks jumping back on the bandwagon! As a mental health therapist, I prefer the term “goal” over “resolution” because it allows for more grace and flexibility. My long term goal is to lose 150 lbs and my short term goal is to reduce hip and back pain. I look forward to succeeding with you all!4

Hi everyone! My name is Ash. I just turned 22.
I used to be really active on my fitness pal until about 13 months ago. My mother unexpectedly passed away and I had stopped caring about my goals and health.
When I first started I weighed 260 lb and went down to 186 lb in 18 months and maintained for 6 months. Then my mom passed. I finally have started to go to therapy and I'm very unhappy with my health weight wise. I now weigh almost 290 lb. I've never weighed this much before and would love to have a bit of a support system in myfitnesspal.
I deleted my old account as I mentally needed a fresh start with it as seeing my old numbers is extremely discouraging. I'm hoping to lose 80-90 lb by 12/21. I plan to ultimately be around 140-150 depending on how I feel.7
