I haven't made new year's resolutions, but I know that I have to do something to lose like 40 lbs and exercise more regularly for the sake of my health. I am 65 years old, 186 lbs. and 5'2 ish. Definitely obese. Maybe if I am open about it and discuss it with a group of people, I will feel some accountability! I know how to lose weight- God knows I did it after four kids! I am having difficulty accepting a life-style change. Please feel free to comment!7

I don't really believe in resolutions per se, but have decided to set some intentions and goals for myself:
1. Practice grace--both for myself and my family
2. More patience--work on walking away/taking a moment if I'm stressed or triggered by something and find myself getting worked up about something.
3. Dedicated mindfulness practice at least once/day and TRY to practice more mindful eating
4. Moment of gratitude daily: Name at least one thing I'm grateful for.
As far as fitness goals, I REALLY want to be able to do unassisted pull-ups and chin-ups and I'm thisclose, but feel I still need to work on activation more. I'd also like to improve my ankle mobility and core stabilization so I can safely go deeper with squats with great form, as well as improve my ballet dancing technique.3 -
I'm going to make my goals for 2021, monthly. Perhaps weekly if I have to. January Goals are:
1. Be consistent with taking my medications
2. Wear my CGM consistently
3. Move more

My goals for 2021:
1. Eat healthier meals
2. Achieve a healthier weight
3. Achieve better sleep habits
4. Increase strength (physical, mental, emotional)
5. Increase endurance (cardio, aerobic, stamina)
6. Quit smoking
I can't do restricting meal plans because I get sick too easily. But, my thyroid went "bad" a few years before the problem got identified and I have debilitating depression as well.
I love working out, but I have major problems with motivation, especially since I also have PAINFUL arthritis.
I don't like smoking, but it helps with anxiety.
I'm just a mess and I'm ready to change things around. I don't have any special person in my life to change things for, just myself. But, I'm trying to consider myself as a special person from now on.6 -
My goals for 2021:
1) Improve my relationship with food - I'm a secret eater, and I need to keep myself accountable
2) Get comfortable in my own skin - I've been 'dieting' for the last ten years at least and have only managed to gain about 80lbs so it'd be nice to lose that again
3) Be more sociable about it - I joined a gym last year that had a great community and for the first time ever I enjoyed my fitness journey! I'd love to meet some people on here who I can have a laugh with and help hold each other accountable 💪 there's strength in numbers after all
4) Stay consistent - I've always been good at short term goals because in my mind after that I can do whatever I want, including binge, so I need to keep my perspective and remember it's a marathon not a sprint 🤷🏻♀️

Looking to strengthen and tone all over and lose 8 inches off my waist and lift my derriere by eating healthier and consistently exercising, focusing specifically on getting rid of the accumulated fat on my tummy, love handles, and back. I also want to get into the habit of drinking more water, because I know I don't drink enough; hardly at all, really...3

Over all better health. Become stronger and maintain my pants size. Cut back on calories by drinking less alcohol.3

To lose 10 lb by vacation in February and 30 lb by summer3

I'm going to focus on adding good habits this year; like drink more water, meditate more, walk outside when possible, do once a week of yoga, easy things that will my over health.3

Stick to my dang plan. I have 50lb to go and I need to be more active and stop getting into pizza, burgers, and cake.2

I have a challenge to lose 20 lbs or 5% body fat in 6 weeks I get to choose which program how do I know which one is best if I make the challenge I get my money back. I am 61 years old I weighed in at 176.6 today I am 5'6" and am very motivated. I was told it is hard to measure body fat
HELP!!1 -
1. Make self care a priority - to hopefully feel less stressed and overwhelmed
2. eat healthier - to feel better and lose weight
3. move more - feel better and have more energy.

I don't believe in "resolutions" based on a date, but some goals and things I will be continuing to work on in the coming year:
1) Complete the 75 Hard "Mental Toughness" challenge (currently on day 34) and then move on to the Phases of the Live Hard challenge with a short break between.
2) Part of what triggered #1 is a need to find "myself" again - for the last ~4 years, that "tough" part of me started to atrophy, and continued to get worse, resulting in effects I could see in all areas of my life. Time to get that back.
3) My fitness and weight are a huge part of that as well - tired of the excuses I've had for not losing the weight.
4) I'm in the middle of a career shift - both for my full time "job" and my own business that I'm getting going. Being laid off for the first time in my life provided an opportunity for some self reflection on what I really wanted out of life/work besides a paycheck...
5) #1-4 are intended to set me up for success on the track this year. I've spent 4 years struggling, first physically after a bad injury, then mentally for a variety of reasons. Moments where it started to get better, but then another set back that I would fall prey to. Time to move forward (and faster lol)
6) Purchase a home and move in - job change may complicate that, but hopefully not too much since I have a new job already getting going....2 -
Just to keep on what I have been doing in 2020! Hit my first goal weight of 64kg (at 68kg). Keep on improving my fitness, I did hit my 5k in 30 min goal in December already, upping my strength training and also keep working on flexibility, stretching and relaxation.1

This year I want to make peace with food and maintain a comfortable weight. I need this group to help me be accountable.
I want to
1. Eat a healthy diet with mainly fruits vegetables healthy grains and proteins.
2. Be able to enjoy treats without feeling guilty and resulting in “all or nothing” thinking
3. Exercise daily to prevent joint and back stiffness, maintain heart fitness and just feel good.
4. Manage my stress without food
I will do this by weekly weigh ins, Pilates twice a week, and walking 30 mins at least 5 days a week

My goal for 2021 is to not give up until I have at least 40 lbs off my body and gain confidence that turning 50 is okay and I can put all the info and resources I've ignored over the years to good use and become a healthier, happier, more energetic version of me! Been here before but my focus and determination this time will not tolerate anything less than success for me! I do this to live forever for my granddaughter and any future grand babies!😊4

My goals are to stick to strict keto (just came back to it on the 1st after upping my carbs) and eating things that gave me headaches/migraines ... be active at least 6 days a week ..drink 120 ounces of water a day .... I am looking to be pain free this year (I start physical therapy tomorrow for my hips...(I was born with hip dysplasia) I would love to lose 50 lbs this year since I just turned 50 on 12/294

I have a few but my main one will be to receive a paycheck for the first time since 2008. I lost my job during that recession and started having back problems followed by my massive weight problems. I'm now at my lowest weight since 1999 and i've been slowly building up my stamina for standing up.8

I really want to work on lifting weights and gaining some definition. I also nee to lose more weight but I am on the right track. I also want to be more consistent with my exercise as I have been slacking with it recently...so, here I am at 07:00 having done 3 short work outs already. One at 3am, the next at 4am and the last at 5am. I will do one more at 9am...this won't be what I do every day, but I am working my way into a new schedule so just trying a few different things.
I also intend to up my salt intake as I believe I haven't been getting enough3 -
To learn to put myself first, I’ve given up everything to raise and care for my family, forgetting to take care of myself. So now it’s time to find myself again and be the best I can be physically and mentally stronger and healthier 👍

I find myself in the same loop over and over and this year I have decided not to focus too much on the weight loss, but rather on my happiness. Soooooo...I have decided I will try to keep to these guidelines as best I can and see what happens haha:
1. Put myself, not others or my job first. The past year I really drowned myself in work and got nothing for it. It's time to focus on what's important to me.
2. Start painting, drawing and reading again.
3. Faithfully logging my meals every day even if I didn't have a 'good' day :-).
4. Getting in some exercise at least 3 times a week even if it's just a walk around the block or 10minutes on the elliptical. I really want to move my body more.
5. Spend time with people I love and trust and avoid people who stress me out or who make me feel bad about myself.

going to try to use the treadmill for at least 30 minutes 3 times a week and stay away from fast food unless its a salad- gotta get myself in check - and i do best when i log faithfully.3 -
So, I'm terrible for actually managing to commit and make my goals achievable. I always have some nebulous goal, and then almost feel like I have too much to do and get overwhelmed and panic and do nothing (mmmm yay anxiety). So, my NY Resolutions, and how I'm going to achieve them, are below:
1. Lose weight and get healthy. I'm going to set myself goals on a monthly basis, and then break them down to a weekly basis. I want to lose weight, but I'm not setting myself weight loss targets. I have a goal in mind for how much I'd like to weigh, but my goals are much more focused on changing how I'm living. So, my goals for January are to not smoke, count calories every day, and do physical exercise every day. This makes it really easy for me to check off and be successful on a daily and weekly basis - just count calories, move a little bit, and don't smoke. One day at a time.
2. Improve my drawing. My goal is to spend at least 10min every day drawing. I've got myself an iPad Air and Apple Pencil, so I'll be getting back into digital drawing. It will be so easy to do then - I can sit on the sofa and doodle. Even if it's nothing good, I will have no excuse (in theory haha).
3. Finish 6 Craft Projects. Finish a project every 2 months. Right now I'm working on knitting myself a jumper, which I've been working on for ages. But I want this damn jumper to be finished haha. I'm also making a list of all the projects I want to start/have ongoing so I can reference them and schedule them in.4 -
Happy New Year to everyone. My name is Susan, I've used MyfitnessPal on and off for a few years. I purchased the premium today and I am going to use every aspect of it. I am a Type-2 Diabetic and have Hypothyroidism. I have been managing my diabetes without medication and I tend to keep it that way. I have a huge goal set for me, however, I'm going to reach it 5 lbs at a time. If I focus on the big goal, I will get discouraged. I'm watching my calories and fats. I also want to get my A1c back done to the non-diabetic range and keep it that way. I do have a question regarding the Fats, I know saturated is no go, Trans and Mono are good. If packages only list Saturated and Trans, how can you figure out the Mono fats? My next struggle is exercising, ugh, that is the tough part. I get bored very easily with exercising. Any suggestions on to overcome boredom with it? I set pretty much 8 hours a day at a desk job. I want to have more energy and feel my best, weight-wise. The only way to do this is to track my food and exercise. Here are my goals for this year, track food, find ways to not get bored exercising, staying positive, food prep for the week, get on a sleeping schedule, and trying new foods.2
