If it didn't have calories, right now I would eat...

I could really go for a bowl of Raisin Bran Crunch. My favorite cereal of all time and I haven't had it in a while. Ooooh how I miss it. Back in the day I'd just keep refilling the bowl until I practically went into a sugar coma!2

That seems like food you've eaten, not food you'd eat if not for the cals.
Nope. Just harvesting pictures of some tasty things I might eat if they didn't have so many calories.
But THIS is something I'm eating. My first experiment making sourdough rolls. Pretty good.
I figure about a hundred calories each or less (about a pound of dough total), so I can eat all twelve. Maybe I should add....
or at least....

(If I didn't have egg intolerance and if it didn't have calories, lol) The whole quiche my boyfriend made for his parents. The cheese looks like that because it's vegan. Smells better than it looks!2 -
To whoever disagreed that I would eat a whole bunch of sushi if it didn't have calories:
Ha ha ha. Shows what you know.
Because I would! Totally.
And a martini wouldn't hurt either....
I have never had sushi and don't eat fish so I am not familiar with the calories, but I always thought raw sushi like this has low calories. Is it really that high for some of these items?0 -

The calories are from the rice. Sushi is all about the rice. Some has fish; some of the fish is raw. Some has other ingredients, but it's really all about the rice. It's really only a couple hundred calories per serving, but it's easy to desire several servings.
Some rolls also have things like cream cheese inside or sauce outside. Those calories add up quickly.
Many of those images were nigiri. It's a little ball of seasoned rice with, in most cases in the images, a piece of fish on top. Another popular nigiri is tamago which is essentially a carefully folded thin piece of scrambled egg. Then there's spam musubi... I'm going to skip that one.
But it's the rice that makes the sushi. Sticky rice cooled quickly and seasoned with rice wine vinegar. Ideally it's cooked so carefully that all the grains are tender but aren't broken. When you assemble rolls, you push the rice, you don't mush the rice.
I need to make some sushi.....

Yeah, sashimi is low cal. Weird to have it here. Even sushi (with the rice) is pretty low cal.
I think mtaratoot is showing what he eats (which often looks delicious) vs focusing on the thread titles.0 -

There's plenty of absolutely delicious sushi that doesn't have fish! Cucumber. Carrot. Avocado. Spring onion....

Sometimes I post what I'm eating. I'd eat more of it if it didn't have calories.
I would eat more sushi if not for the calories. I don't think there's any sashimi pictures; it's all nigiri and maki. All with rice. That's what makes it sushi.
Sushi can be filling, but not heavy, but it doesn't keep me full very long, so it's hard to justify the calories. I think I may not have t had sushi since July, 2019. So sad.3 -

This Sushi is light if you have one moderate serving. But along with a couple of drinks, some of us would find it really easy to overindulge, and not really interested in having a reasonable serving.
Those pictures are gorgeous!3 -

Well, you know I'm now wondering what your gross out item is! Is it the...crackers?
Nope. I am munching on the crisps. I am not a fan on that slab of cheesy mess... never was, never will be. Even back in my "fun" days.
After I posted this, I later thought that it was most likely the cheese. Actually the crackers inspired me to post it in the first place 🤣🤣 I could totally leave the brie cheese but I would absolutely love those crackers with some blue cheese or salty feta.😉
C'mon guys don't leave me hanging! What kind of crackers are they!?!
There would be many instances where I'd much rather have a few of these instead of dessert!
Those look so good, do they have a name? I've never seen anything like them before, but need to try them now, lol. I searched amazon for "seedy crackers" but didn't see anything that looked like them.
Trader Joe's has some too.
Easy to make them though to: https://under500calories.com/recipe/23c86-copycat-trader-joes-pumpkin-cranberry-crisps
We don't have these here (Italy), but they look fantastic and I'm going to make some. I've got all the ingredients. Will post pics when done. Thanks for the recipe.1 -
