I'm in 🙂
I'm 5'0 222 with pcos, uphill battle....
I'm hoping to be under 200 by 3.15, 199 would be great.3 -
This is such a great resource for accountability. Winter is very hard for me because I live in the pacific northwest and the grey cold weather days make me want to turn to comfort food.
SW 154.8
GOAL WEIGHT 135
By March 27th I would like to be down 10 pounds
Thanks for all the support!!!

Thank you @shannonkelly08 for the premier protein idea for the coffee creamer! I bought some yesterday for 7.99 for 4 of them, but I only use 1 TBS per cup of coffee so it will last a while. Even my picky husband who only likes half and half likes it. I did the math and it is 7.2 calories per TBS so it is definitely guilt free. I am now MEASURING things like this, cooking oil, etc. not just splashing it in mindlessly. Calorie accountablility is definitely important for me as I was woefully underestimating before. Also thanks to others who have posted snack ideas. Another one I just remembered; instead of mayonaise, use Tzaziki sauce in your devilled eggs, egg salad, tuna salad etc. I also sometimes mix avocado with the eggs for devilled eggs along with some sliced ham for a snack and my granddaughters are so tickled by "green eggs and ham".6

Oh Boy. I just realized it will be my 40th high school reunion this year, Covid willing. Well that's a motivating thought considering I weigh 44 lbs more now than I did then. I will put a motivating note on the fridge reminding me of this.6

11/28/20 191 lbs
12/5 191 lbs
12/12 186 lbs
12/19 185 lbs
12/25 184.2 lbs
1/3/21 184 lbs
So far, so good. IF is working for me. I still have a morning coffee with some creamer, but I don't eat breakfast til around 11:00 am.
I just joined an app where you pay, log your steps and win money from a "pot of money".
It's a fitness game that motivates you. You make. "bet" or investment and they set your personalized step goals based on your Fitbit history. If you hit your goals for entire game, you split the pot with other winners.
*** Disclaimer: I am not promoting this. I usually get all excited about something and then when all is said and done, I lose money. I joined the app membership for $49/year so I can join more than one game. I feel this was a mistake but we shall see.
I joined two games -one for $40 and one for $20. I don't have a problem reaching my goals set ; the game durations vary- one of my games is one month long and the other is 6 weeks long.
I will report back to you if I win a penny or more. I will also report if this was just a gimmick. In one pot there is $7,000 and 176 players playing so far. Let's say even half drop out in those 6 weeks.
I'm sure the app makers take a chunk out of the pot too!
I'm such a sucker. I just spent $110 Today on this. So, I would have to get back that much and more to make it worth it.
But I'll play its out and see what happens.5 -

Jen! That is very motivating! I found that people who went to my 30th one a few years ago were in pretty good shape. I was pleasantly surprised!
You can do it! That is a great motivator!

Happy New Year, everyone!
I've tried to cut out snacking and just stick to 3 meals a day. Snacking (mindlessly and to deal with stress) is what got me in this situation in the first place. I've allowed myself a piece of fruit if I must have something...I remember hearing somewhere that if you are really hungry, you'll eat an apple. I keep the water pitcher close by and keep my water glass filled now. I'm not hungry between meals most days and I'm finally hitting my water goals.

Hey guys, I know I’m a little late to joining the challenge but would love to be a part.
SW- 180
GW-150
Have read a lot of the posts and love the tips and tricks I’ve gained already.5 -
I thought I'd share a paragraph from the book I'm reading. "Atomic Habits" by James Clear. It is a book on how to build good habits and break bad ones.
I believe I shared a while back on this thread that I started talking to myself when I recommitted to weight loss and my health in Dec. This passage spoke to me this morning:
"Once you have a handle on the type of person you want to be, you can begin taking small steps to reinforce your desired identity. I have a friend who lost over 100 pounds by asking herself, "What would a healthy person do?" All day long, she would use this question as a guide. Would a healthy person walk or take a cab? Would a healthy person order a burrito or a salad? She figured if she acted like a healthy person long enough, eventually she would become that person. She was right." (page 40)8 -
I am a bit late too to join this challenge. My goal is to lose 22 pounds by end of March.
January Start Weight: 239.5
End of March Goal Weight: 217.5
Ultimate weight goal: 185

25 lbs to go, I think. I'll weigh in tomorrow. I have dropped half and half from my coffee as of today and the black tastes terrible, but I will drink it because I need the caffeine. No doubt I will drink less of it which is good thing I suppose. Besides losing the weight, I am committed to going through paper work and I started shredding old checks and bank statements. I am on 1995 and 6. It is a trip, looking at these old checks and walking down memory lane. Checks to my kid's elementary school, Girl Scouts, stores that no longer exist, etc. I need to stop looking at each one or I will never finish.
I relate to your memory lane journey with all the paperwork! We sold our house and moved to a much smaller one in the country in Oct. I dumped all my paperwork into boxes for the move and forced myself to cull through it after we settled. 20 Years of memories! My paper shredder couldn't handle it, not being familiar with the area or wanting to go out in this pandemic (we can't even get a pizza delivered where we are now...30 minutes from a grocery store...) we decided to burn it like we saw two neighbors doing with their trash. Had the hose at the ready even though it was a small firepit!! It took us 3 hours to dispose of it. We toasted to our past and to our future that night by the fire, talked about our loved ones living and dead, old jobs (paystubs from 20 years ago!) and everything that we had revisited through the paperwork we'd unearthed as we burned it. Then we talked about what we wanted our lives to look like 5 and 10 years from now. That night was a memorable one.7 -

I don't have any direct experience with any timer app(s). I rely on the features of my Garmin Fenix 6x watch. My gym (closed presently) has a 29-minute circuit setup that has a wall timer that counts down 45 seconds then 15 seconds, over and over, endlessly. I'm sure you can find some timer apps to do the same.
I wouldn't say it's the final word, but I skimmed this page: The 7 Best Timer Apps for Android. The Timer Plus app looks like it would be pretty good for HIIT.3 -
So, I had a thought about how we can "stick to the plan":
It can be so tempting to give in to a craving for this or that. And when you do, you might then feel discouraged. Of course, that's not the right attitude. We all know that when we slip up, we just need to get back to it. My current success is due I think to the fact that I keep looking at the long view: where am I now, and where do I want to be? I am fixated on that goal. But here's another idea:
You've probably all heard some version of: Ask yourself, "what would _______ do?"
Some examples:- "What would Jesus do?"
- "What would Buddha do?"
- "What would Gandhi do?"
- "What would Elvis do?"
So here's a new one: "what would the thin me do?"
Let the future you be your own inspiration!

I am still doing IF. BUT I have polished off some cookies this week during my eating hours and those calories will add up.
However, no junk food after 7:00 all week, because I didn't buy any salty favorite snacks this week.
Happy New Year's Eve for some of you!
@RubyRed427 What IF schedule are you doing? I did it for about a month last March, but then Covid. I really would like to start up again because I enjoy cooking and would like to have a nice guilt free evening meal with my husband. Do you follow Gin Stephens and the Delay, Don't Deny group? I am going to see if I can get back to an 18:6 schedule. Just have to cut the Diet Coke (I don't drink coffee so the only other option is water for a clean fast.)
I am a beginner but I do 16:8. I will have to look up Gin Stephens- I have not heard of the group.
Coffee is a problem for me. I sometimes sneak a dollop of skim milk in my coffee which I am sure breaks the fast but I just can't cope with black coffee yet.
I had tea a few mornings and it's not the same ... probably because I am missing the sugar from creamer.
I am much better at IF than just counting calories - but both are effective.
RubyRed, have you tried erythritol instead of sugar? It's natural and is also good for teeth and I have used it for my wife with her coffee. I learned about it doing keto diet and have eliminated all white sugar in my household. I live in Asia and have it shipped by iHerb.

Hi all, this is Fat *kitten* with you, weighing in at 283...I rock the scales, laterally and fugitively....smile! If I can hit 250 by March, 2021, wow, that means that I don't have to wear a coat in 90 degree weather to hide this load...Let's do this...Bring on the motivation, I need all the help I can get, the good, bad and the ugly, and any others we can name...
Welcome aboard and good luck...

Foo, I Like your latest pic. And good on you for trying! Today I had my cheat meal. I decided Sundays at lunch time since I weigh in on Saturdays. I had cream of crab soup and 2 cheeseburger sliders plus a mocktail instead of yet another seltzer. It was all yummy. I am skipping dinner since I am still pretty full 6 hours later. I wasn't going to plan on incorporating a cheat meal but I am weak and need a reward for not drinking at all and eating well the rest of the time.6

I will take your challenge. I weighed 270.9 on New Year's Day. I turn 70 on Wednesday. I would very much like to be 240 in March. My final goal weight is 205. I am using MyFitnessPal (food tracking & plan), iPhone (Health steps) and an Oura ring (sleep, steps, activity and heartrate).
From what I saw in comments, it sounds as though I am among the eldest and fattest. As my picture shows I am in the heart of Ohio with my true love, but we head south on Thursday. And when we head south we do not stop until we see Mile Marker 59 on U.S. 1. We have reservations through March at Jolly Roger RV Resort but will probably head the van back north about the middle of March. That gives me 10 weeks in the keys to achieve this challenge.8 -
Welcome @rawdonma! All ages are welcome! We are here to encourage each other, regardless of how much we have to lose.6
-
Hi, Everyone! Hope you all are having a great beginning to the new year. Lovely to see everyone commenting and so positive about their weight loss. Just participating on the thread is a victory, so whether we lose or not we're still here plugging away at it. Yay, us!
My Sunday weigh in:
11/29 141.9
12/06 141.7
12/13 140.7
12/19 140.6
12/27 140.3
01/03 141.4 -- Oops, up this week although I'm thinking it's just water weight as I've had some salty foods this for the last several days .
Looking forward to see what the next week will bring. Fingers crossed.8 -

...
I got'cha beat : I'll be 72 in May and currently weight 280.8, down from 330 last July. If I can make 250-256 by March 31st, I'll be thrilled (I weighed 286 on Christmas day, so 256 would be 30 pounds down from then).
But it doesn't really matter where you're at. What matters is what you're doing to change it.
Wow! Road trip from Ohio to Florida? Enjoy that Florida sunshine!8 -

I weighed 283.3 on December 31st. So let's do this! Let's hit 250 by March 31st!6 -
@Tygirl2016 — I’m also reading the Atomic Habits by James Clear! I can’t say enough amazing things about this book. I’m so glad you posted that quote. It’s one that I think about often while on my health journey. This book is absolutely worth the read!5

Good Morning!
I’d love to join as well!7 -
I'm in!!
SW 154.8
GOAL 1359 -
Weekly weigh in:
SW: 140lbs
CW: 138.4 — down 1.5 lbs
GW: 120lbs7 -
Weigh in day!
Start Weight 160.2
Goal Weight 135
12/28 160.2
1/4 155.8
4.4 lbs loss!
Staying committed to my daily habits (sooo happy to see people quoting Atomic Habits—I love that book- I’ve listened to it twice) is paying off. I drank 96oz water, exercised, logged and stayed under calorie budget every day this week. This is a bigger weekly loss than I’m aiming for, but I typically lose the first few pounds quickly then it tapers off. I may have to eat more though because of extra exercise.
Question though, do you all increase your calories in according to your added exercise or do you stick to your calorie budget?6 -
@shnerb00 — I have found that when I allow myself to have more calories because I exercised, I don’t have great results when trying to lose weight. So I’m just eating at 1500 a day, exercise or rest day.
I got my husband to start reading Atomic Habits also and we’re building better/new habits together. It’s been great!8 -
Checking in:
Sorry for the delay. Good news is always easier to share than bad news. It is always amazing to me how it can take so long to lose any weight but how quickly it returns. I had a few bad days this past week and put on 5.3 lbs. I know that I am still below (weight wise) what I started this challenge at but it is so hard to move on when you see a number like.
Let's hope we can all stick to our New Year's resolutions in 2021!
