So I've posted on this thread already and I've read all of the stories so far (there are some truly amazing women on here, by the way!), but I haven't yet posted my own introduction. To be honest, I'm not very good at introductions anyway. :P I'm a 26 year old graduate student, currently working my way through school. I have a less than awesome part-time job, but it pays the bills. I've lost 103 lbs to date, and if I lose another 12 lbs throughout this challenge, I will officially be at my goal weight... which is kind of weird to think about. A year and three months ago, I would've never imagined being where I am today - I'm a lot stronger, both mentally and physically than I ever thought. I also have a pretty amazing pup that walks and/or runs with me every day. :)

gr8grl68 - Not an official badge. I just used one from here:

    http://www.matthewscaloriecounter.com/public/weight_loss_ticker.aspx

and I've seen others use ones from tickerfactory, etc. which are less hoggy than the one I used.

    THANKS!!! :)

Let's see if I can get this across right... In your signature, if you delete everything after the url and bracket right after this - 732a7b54d.jpg - (your numbers will be different since you have a different Matthews ticker than mine) then you can get rid of the words "Calorie Counter" at the bottom of your ticker. This is only for the Matthews code. Don't mess with your MFP code. So as not to mess it up for you, what I would do is, cut and paste it (just as it is - all of it) into a notepad, wordpad, word, etc. and then copy and paste that right below the first one. Take out what I suggested and then copy and paste that back into your signature. If it worked, great! If not, you can get rid of that and you still have your original to put back in. Was that clear as mud?

I weigh myself on Friday's, imagine my surprise when I got on the scale this morning and was down 4 pounds! I'm in the 220's. I am so excited! I didn't really work out this week, but I was under my calorie goal everyday so I guess that made the difference for me. Hope everyone has a super successful first week!

AmyByExample - "I've read everyone's posts & heart this group!" - Me too!

nwohler - "down 4 pounds! I'm in the 220's. I am so excited!" - Woo hoo! That's fantastic!

fatchristine - "I use food to cope with sadness that I expereince when I am working, and to stay awake..... I am trying to find alternatives to "comfort" myself when I am streesed/ sad/ grieving, etc..." - This was so touching to me. I can understand how it would be so hard not to turn to food when you see so much sickness and death in your job. :brokenheart: And when you have to also deal with the sadness and grief of the loved ones... But we are here for you and will help in any way we can. I am looking forward to when you get to change your sign-in name! :-)

Hello, my name is Julie. I am 42 yrs old. I'm married and have four children. I am a grandmother to eight grandchildren. My husband is terminally ill and we just found out a couple of days ago that my mom has cancer. So my life is very stressful right now. I don't usually turn to food when I'm very stressed so that's a good thing. I will just have to make sure that I force myself to eat. Good luck to everyone.. I hope everyone meets there goals!!
  • Christine -I think what you do is amazing and reading what you wrote hit home with me. My MIL was put in hospice care this week and she has had some amazing nurses. They are so kind and caring and all I can think is how special they are to do what they do. I really don't know how you deal with the sadness on a regular basis and I can totally understand turning to food to deal with the stresses you deal with. I agree that finding something else to comfort you is great idea. Good luck!

Nicole - congrats on your 4 lbs! I weigh in on Fridays too but didn't do quite as well as you.

I'm down 1.4 pounds but considering how crazy things have been this week I will take it. I haven't been as active on MFP as I normally am but I do read everyone's posts and I am cheering on everyone.

julidav - I'm so sorry for what you're going through and what is happening to your husband and mom. :brokenheart:

Sueboo31 - WOO HOO!! You are in ONEderland now!!

fatchristine - Yay for a profile picture of you!

Everyone - I've been thinking about the weigh ins being on different days and I think it is going to work out to be FANTASTIC! For those that weigh in on Monday, when they see the weigh ins from Thurs. and Fri., it might give them some incentive to push forward a little harder. Then the same for the people who weigh in on Monday. That may give incentive to those who are coming up on their weigh ins a few days later. A win-win, in my book!
