Last week has been rather hard, I'm on the depo shot, still new, only my 3rd shot in. So I still have struggles with periods and heavy bleeding/ bloating. I was forced to go on the depo shot after my periods became heavy that they were two weeks long with no sign of slowing down. I was refused the pill because I get migraines. So depo was the only manageable thing, health has generally felt a LOT better being on the shot, I no longer get violent stomach flus during pms and first active week of my period. I'm now learning to manage and remember that weight gain will still happen even when I am not bleeding as much. Sorry if this is TMI for some, but I feel like I may have some others who have dealt with similar things around these woods.
Had a hard week emotionally too ( yay long distance relationships). I didn't go over on calories, but I did on sugar,I always do daily by a bit because of natural sugars, but this time I allowed myself some candy. I stayed as close to calorie limit as possible, and I logged every single thing I consumed, it just felt very uncomfortable. Food wasn't the comfort it used to be, but my brain still craved it, and as soon as I had it in my hand it felt better, but it didn't make me happier. Except, fruit roll ups, damn those. Family and friends still buy me treats even though I tell them not to, I keep them all in a bucket and only snack when I want a treat, I have cut off snacking from boredom or sadness and I work harder to crochet instead. I might make myself some kind of weight loss blanket, do a row or two whenever I lose weight? Not sure.
Anyway, I'll shut up now! I've been still doing my workouts with bands, I tried adjusting to bigger giant loop bands and my shoulders are not ready for that yet, hopefully next month!6 -
@BeastlyMaple I'm glad the depo shot is working for you! It was my mom's BC of choice until she hit menopause and didn't need it anymore. I have a Nexplanon, that's the implant that goes in your arm, and my experience with it has been awesome. Feel free to reach out if you ever decide to look into other BC (offer is also open to anyone else who wants to know about the arm implant, of course - the loudest voices online are the ones with horror stories so I try to offset that where I can.) Also great job sticking to your budget and staying honest - both of those things can be really hard, especially when the Jerkbrain starts saying mean things to you. But hey! You did it! You can do hard things. This internet stranger is proud of you.2

@BeastlyMaple - Oh, man. I totally understand about comfort foods not being as good as they used to be, but the brain not getting the message quite yet. I had a serving of Cheezits the other day and thought, "Why am I eating these? They aren't even good!" I remember how good they used to taste to me, though, and I think I was hoping for the pleasant feeling I used to get eating half a box with a large glass of milk while watching a show. Now that I'm eating intentionally and paying attention to how I physically feel, I realize that some of my comfort foods were solely about stuffing away feelings instead of enjoyment of the actual food.5

Hello all,
I found your group a couple weeks ago, read some posts, and would like to join you, please.
I’ve been working on losing weight since late spring 2020, almost a year now, down 25 pounds and feeling lots better. I walk 150 minutes a week. Between that and the weight loss, I’m feeling and moving better.
Now i’m planning to take it a step further. Another 27 pounds.
Best wishes to you all.7 -

I'd love to be a part of this supportive community.
I started my journey on March 1st. I eat around 1,800 calories a day.
I'd love to add some new friends as well, so feel free to send me a friend request!

Our group is growing, which is wonderful. There is so much support and encouragement here, and it's nice to have a safe place to vent. Keep it up ladies!
Just wanted to share a NSV (non- scale victory). I ordered some blouses online in X- large hoping they would fit, and they do. Woohoo!!12 -
@speyerj @Spotteddingo @misplacedmama and @donnas1995 Thank you all.
@BeastlyMaple I am so glad the depo shot is working for you. I could only use it for 3 months and had to stop it (I gained about 30lbs without a change to my diet and exercise level at that time). I currently have the Skyler IUD in and I love it. I am very impressed with your willpower with the treats. I noticed lately that I have bought chocolates/sweet biscuits at the store, but, I still have them in my apartment and it has been weeks. I think it is almost as if my brain was like, I have this on hand if I want it (just to know it is there), but, then it is like, ok, I know you are there, but, I don't want you. Not sure if I just made any sense. My brain works in mysterious ways sometimes!!
@goal06082021 I have heard a lot of good things about the arm implants. Glad you like it.
@Laughter_Girl I absolutely love that it is growing as well and that we are comfortable venting and sharing!! Congrats on the NSV!!
@foodieizzy Welcome!!
@Duneclimber59 Welcome!! You are already part of the group!!2 -

Not much new here. My parents are still slowly recovering from Covid. It really has taken a toll on their stamina. Did get 2 bike rides in last week so that was fun. It looks like the weather will be getting colder again so I don't know if I'll get out for a ride this week. Here's hoping the forecast is wrong!
Hope everyone is well. Have a great rest of the week!7 -
Starting over for hopefully the last time. I’ve got a long way to go and I’m learning to take it one day at a time. Starting weight also my heaviest 286

Looking for friends who are on a similar journey. I’m in it for the long haul. Trying to exercise 5 days a week. I do well with low carb or dirty keto. I have food sensitivities so I go by what works with me. I like fasting but it can send me into a binging fit so concentrating on calories and working out for now. I’m a good cheerleader too. Definitely love to spread positive vibes. 💜 Good luck 🍀7 -
@Uyister wow thats an incredible achievement!! I'm sure your life is dramatically different!!2
-
@mechelemc- glad that you joined the group, and yes, it is a journey for the long haul. Regarding fasting, maybe start with shorter fasting times. I find that if I feel 'deprived', it's easy to binge. Take it one day at a time. Set short term goals, too. When I meal plan, I do better. I'm in the 260's, so my 1st goal is to get in the 250's. Also, when I add more 'protein', it helps. Hang in there!!!1
-
@mehelemc - I started out at your weight too of 286, 20 months ago so so. After dropping 125 pounds, I am working on maintenance. I've been in maintenance at 160-165 since October last year. It can be done, but as you say, you need to be in it for the long haul. So it's good you have already learned what works well for you and what works well in the short term doesn't work in the long term if you can't adhere to it, such as your example about fasting.6
-
@mechelemc Welcome! It sounds like you've got a good handle on what works for you. I also want this go-round to be my last, so my mantra has been "no temporary changes." I'm not doing anything I can't sustain indefinitely, and I have 10+ years of data that show that I lose weight when I count calories, and I gain weight when I don't. So, I've made peace with the fact that I will need to do this forever. Maybe Future-Me will have retrained her brain and her gut to be able to eat intuitively, but Now-Me can't, so I've simply dispensed with any idea of "when this is over" or "when I'm done." Because I won't be "done" when I reach GW. Pizza and beer and birthday parties and office treats and holidays and vacations and other things that derail diets will all still be there when I reach GW. If I don't learn how to coexist with them and plan for them now, I won't be prepared to do it later.11
