    Crazy busy here.
When I can't sleep, it usually means my anxiety is up about something. If that is something I can take care of, I will usually get up and do it. If not, then I try deep breathing and happy thoughts. If all else fails, I will read, scroll, or play games on tablet.

Sisters- mine is 3 years younger in years. She is tall, dark, elegant, classy, caring, and smart. Her life is the exact opposite of mine. I recently found out she was always jealous of me because I was short, petite, blue eyes, and always smiling. Our life events are about 10 yrs apart. We rarely "talk", but love when we get to spend time together. She and her husband have retired a couple of times. She went back to work as she was bored not because she had to. I know she has my back, even if we don't talk often. Our brother is our other sister. Smart, thoughtful, family oriented. Funny after growing up in our dysfunctional family, they both married into great families. Again his life stage is way different than mine. His grands are all babies and he is retired. Mine are all teens and I still have to work.

Now y'all have made me think of communicating. I am so tired when I get home from work that I really don't communicate as I should.....both my siblings speak with their kids daily. I probably once every week or two. Man.....I really don't talk to anyone.....???? Something to work on. For years it was struggling to make ends meet, working two jobs, taking care of husband and the family properties. Now, I am just tired at night and everyone is busy with their lives, I feel like I am intruding. Wow, deep thoughts for the morning. Communicating obviously isn't one of my strong traits. Something to work on.

    Gotta get ready for work.
Thank you all for being here!
    HUGS to ALL!

I communicate through Facebook. Both my family (including extended family) and my husband's family are on there so we all post periodically and comment on each other's posts. Occasionally we message if we don't want to chat publicly. My parents and I also email about once a week with longer, more detailed posts. Once in a while my parents and I Skype or Zoom or whatever.

My family lives scattered all over the place and we live our own lives. We love each other, but at this point we can't move any closer to each other.

Oh ... and I have one brother. If we talk, it's usually about something intellectual. He's very bright ... like MENSA bright.

So Easter weekend...both my girls asked what we were doing. One lives an hour from Kentucky farm and had thought about going there on Sunday. Other lives near us 2 hours from farm. Husband wants to go to farm this weekend. Gerrard! So I just put out to ALL of them a couple of options. Hopefully our new beds will arrive on Friday. Husband and I head to farm after work Saturday, coming home on Easter before 4 pm for dinner. I offered one or both to meet us at farm to do Easter there. Or one or both to join us for dinner in Ohio on Sunday evening. Easter egg hunts either place for kiddos. I put money and chocolate in their eggs. I can't make everyone happy at once.....have I mentioned that I am not a holiday person....too many expectations. Thanksgiving is really the only one I am good at! I will have to wait and see what they reply. Too early to call so texted. I would love for everyone to be together, but also know everyone is busy with activities. I will keep you posted.

I think part of the problem I have with my younger daughter now and seeing her more often (besides kids activities) is that her husband works with us. He needs a break from family at some point in time, but I miss my time with all of them.

I am on holiday! 11 days off.

I'm not entirely sure what to do with myself.
We'll go cycling, of course ... and I might give some jogging a go, as well as some other exercise.
    Plus I'll sleep.
    And read.
    And then we'll see.
Maybe a little bit of local touristy stuff.
Maybe some things on my List.
    Maybe some photography.

Kylia - I usually stress about holidays too. The pandemic was brilliant for that because no one could do anything so I had no FOMO. Suited me fine. :) This Easter I'm not stressing, because my son has said we will gave a garden meeting at some point. We still can't go indoors. So it's all low key and no expectations. :D

Machka - You know that saying, "If you choose a job you love you never have to work." I have done jobs just for the money, but mostly I was doing something I would have paid to do. :p I'm still working at the job I love, for very little money, and hope to do so until I die. I gave up the bits that were not so much fun at the age of 55, but even those were pretty enjoyable.

Good morning all! Happy Wednesday! Looks like it is going to be another pretty day! The sun is shining brightly and the sky is cloudless and bright blue.
Chairs- I am most comfortable in a wood dining room chair with arms. I always have been. I don't like to recline or lay down to watch tv; if I am that tired, I go to bed. I don't like to have my feet up, unless I am injured; and even then, I don't like to have my feet up. lol I like watching movies sitting straight up. At the movie theaters, I tend to sit straight and not even use the back rest. Same for when I am driving. I sit straight and don't use the back rest. My DH LOVES his recliner, though. To this day, when we sit down together to watch a movie or if I am sick he always asks if I would be more comfortable in the recliner. Nope.
A day or half day- It would probably depend on how I feel. IF I am tired, a half day or day to just sit and veg in front of the tv and possibly take a walk whenever I want would be great. IF I am feeling strong, a hike, some time in a kayak on the lake, and a tandem jump from an airplane would be fun. IF I am feeling happy and adventurous, I always thought it would be fun to wake up, hop in the car and see how far I could drive...

I have gone back to my high protein nutrition plan. It is the only way I am going to get my weight down. I have been AF for three weeks, I have boosted my walking; so now I just need to get the eating under control. Also, no food/bev (except water) after 6pm.

Kids are here. Have to scoot! ttfn xoxox KJ (Kelly)

Yes, fortunately, I like my job and the people I work with. :) I'm not even 55 yet so it wouldn't be good if I didn't like my job! :open_mouth:

I made the comment to someone else today that coming to work can be my respite from other things going on in my life and although I don't relax at work because we're fairly busy, I'm probably the most relaxed when I'm at work.

However I don't like my commute.

The best part of being on holiday is that I don't have to commute to and from work!! And I can sleep in. And I can go for a bicycle ride in the middle of the day. :)

Macka. - I like that recliner you showed. It looks like support and comfort. Enjoy your vacation!

Julie - hips below the knees are not a good thing apparently, she talked about that a lot.

Barbara - I’m very grateful for my friends and family. I wish sometimes I was closer to my brother. We don’t know what goes on in each other’s lives very much since Dad passed and isn’t here to tell us. Part of that is the distance too, we only see each other every few years.

Kylia - I understand what you mean. I talked to my Dad and Grandmother daily until I moved to Alberta, it then got too expensive so it became weekly chats. Then Grammie couldn’t hear me, Dad passed. I don’t “talk” to my girls daily but we usually interact on social media or text almost daily.
I swore I was going to start talking more when my cousin attempted suicide this winter, but I haven’t made good on that promise to myself, mostly because people don’t seem to like random phone calls anymore and I’m too mentally tired in the evenings too.
We still aren’t allowed to gather so no big Easter dinner again this year.

Kelly - endless driving, I love that idea. I used to go for drives to clear my head. I stopped because my husband didn’t see the sense. I should start them again just for me.

Well I woke up at 630 and couldn’t get back to sleep so checked in here. I guess I might as well get up and get ready head to work now.
I don’t like sitting around in the mornings, I’m a “ lets get it done” type I guess.

This is a picture my physiotherapist had me take for back and hip exercises. She told me to not do more that 3 at a time to start and work up gradually.

:) I sit only in the big wood dining room chairs. We have them in several rooms in the house. We have them in several rooms. We have a recliner and a couch but I never sit on them.

:) It was beautiful yesterday and I spent an hour pulling weeds and Jake mowed the small lawn in the back yard.

I always sit with my feet up because my legs are so short. I spend a lot of time fully reclined lounging in bed. But I fidget a lot, so I don't get stuck in one position.

Because I am retired, I have a lot of free time. An ideal day for me would involve good friends and some pain-free outdoor activity. Or maybe a visit from my daughter. I haven't heard from her in over a year now.

Tracey that is wild about your mother lighting the fire. We have a gas stove, and someday that will be dangerous. But it seems okay for now.

So far my arm is just a little sore from the shot. Hope that's it.

    Have a great day, ladies!

CSSJ--Sending hugs and prayers for your DGD and for you.

As for family, my dad was married 3 times for a total of 11 kids. Mom married a man that had custody of his 4. So a big group. Since our parents have passed we don't talk much. I try and call my one brother once in awhile. I have one brother that is only 10 months older then me as he is from the first marriage and we are the same age from March 2 to May 30. I have never met him, but talked on the phone a couple times. As for our kids we are a blended family and when they were young we could get them all together, not so much now so do the best we can. I send a lot of cards and stuff to grand kids and we text and facebook. Sure not the way I would like it, but just do the best we can.

It’s ok tho. While I got the pedicure that wasn’t a pedicure,DH,moved laundry to dryer & cleaned floors thru out the house. He doesn’t mention it,just does what needs doing.

Have a sheet pan of veggies roasting now & will make a small meat loaf for our late lunch.Since surgery, one meal fills me up,so we’re mostly doing a late lunch as our main meal.Suits us both.I had lost 40 pds since hospital, gained 4 back.

Read about Sisters not being close, that is super sad.I was very close to both mine & one bro. Now just myself & one Sis left.We talk most days & she comes to visit from Minn every summer.A sister is a treasure, but all family is,so not good when they pull away.

Sorry I can’t find the add a picture directions .I do thank you for helping. Just call me Pat

I tracked breakfast and lunch. did 15 min on recumbent at over 115 HR, meditated 15 min, awesome was that i went for a little sit in very nearby tiny public park to start the day before 9 am (. when i got there there was a not so young guy clearly meditating in on park bench, sitting position, hands/arms released, eyes closed. i was gonna walk by to check but then he started to leave. Then i sat and took some notes for my date book for the month. as i was leaving- just a few minutes later- there was a younger guy also sitting meditating across the park, on a bench, this time, shoes off in semi-lotus position. i walked by also, he gave me a big smile. he must have felt the kindred spirit. i could only smile with eyes as i had a mask on. i have done lots of meditation, and occasionally have meditated in parks outside, but not much as it doesn't feel very comfortable (people can consider one strange, ostentatious). i have felt that changing in recent years. i would never have done that 30 years ago, but i have occasionally done that recently (in quiet place with few people, etc). Mindfulness being all the rage and having become very manystream, what was 30 years past considered almost sect-like (focusing on breath, body sensations, observing sensations and thoughts) is now run of the mill.

Did all so far except the 8h of writing and producing many pages. wish me luck. i need it! (luck or courage or will or inspiration or a guardian angel or help or something!)

    Posting pictures:

    1. Find a nice picture. You could google it and find something. You could spot a picture you like on Facebook. You could post your picture to an online album like Flickr or you could just have the picture saved on your computer.

    2. Right click on the picture, wherever it is. Select "copy image" or sometimes just "copy".

    3. Come here and go to the box where you type. Right click in the box and click "paste". Wait. Count to 10. And then the link will appear!

Now, in case you read through these instructions and wondered how I got them ... I used a tool called Snipping Tool. It's another option you can play around with.

i often have my feet up.
i think my circulation is so-so not sure why, so it's nice to have feet up often enough.
i have never had a deep-sink-in chair, neither in my childhood home(s), nor in my adult homes.

We had this one easy chair at home as a kid that was well stuffed and good quality, solid, but quite firm and not with butt below knees.

We had this weird kids's rule between us (decided by kids not parents) that whoever was sitting in that chair got to decide what channel we watched. So of course sometimes that meant trying to get the other to get up or waiting for them to have to go to pee, or get a snack. very weird and funny.

my brother liked star trek reruns and me i remember liking kimba the white lion cartoon, ha, ha, ha!
and i think my brother maybe liked "speed racer" cartoon.

since my brother was 4 years older, he was more tricky with getting to sit in the TV chair, and so i surely watched more star trek reruns than kimba the white lion. it's definitely better to choose but star trek has become a classic and kimba, not so! i have never watched a star trek movie though! (and only 1 star wars 1 time- the 1st) maybe that's why! LOL

my dad was super into science fiction movies and books back then too. kind of quirky back then. i didn't know of anyone else who was so into them. he would read any science fiction he could get his hands on that came to the local suburban library back then in the 60s and 70s and early 80s...LOL, and go see the same local suburban movie a few times.

I do have to sit with at least my left leg up because of circulation issues in that one.

I always have my legs up. Can't stand having them hanging down. I spend most of my time lying on the sofa, or lying in bed. I work on the bed. I hate standing even more. :#

A back expert on the TV the other day said, it's not what position you are sitting in that matters, it's how long you stay there. So keep changing position and get up and walk about.

Had a nice Zoom with my girlfriends. The last of our mothers is 94 today. :D
