WOMEN AGES 50+ FOR APRIL 2021

Exercise - I enjoy walking, swimming ( pools are closed though) and I enjoyed Zumba when I did it. I truly don’t like anything that costs me money though, I don’t see the sense.
I also don’t like anything that makes me sweat.

Title of my life book - Decisions, Decisions. I feel overwhelmed with all of the decisions that need to be made continuously and every decision can set your whole life on a different path.

Heather - when our youngest was a little girl still learning to talk, DH drove truck. He drove to the Deep South in the states to Newfoundland and he picked up accents quickly like you. Our daughter started sounding like a drunken southerner. Everywhere we went, people would ask where she got her accent.
I never wanted pets because when the girls were little it was something else for me to care for on my own when hubby was away. We thought seriously about a dog this past Fall, but the vet bills put us off. I was scared I would have a suffering animal and not be able to have it cared for properly.

I also, say something and wait for it to be soak in and be his idea. For 4 years I’ve been saying I want a door with a window, cost has been prohibitive, but yesterday he found one on Marketplace! We will paint it before we hang it.

One of my functions at work is paying the invoices, prices have gone crazy since the pandemic started. For a not for profit it’s been hard. As a human with no pay increases to match the costs it’s quite worrisome.

Carol - my husband stores stuff in the shed and I leave it alone. I figure if I don’t have to look at it, I don’t need to worry. I’m sure someday, I’ll be in there shaking my head and cursing, but he at least keeps it mostly organized. My cousin’s husband hoards clothes and memorabilia, she takes two or three things at a time, hides it and if after 6 months he hasn’t looked for it or mentioned it, she disposes of it. 😂. It’s a slow process but she is always hiding something so it’s an ongoing project.

Allie - You mentioned doing laundry and I took a break from reading to go start ours. I have to work tomorrow so today is my only free day this week.

“Well i slept off and on all night ,woke up and have to keep clearing my throat... darn congestive heart failure” I didn’t know this was a thing, I’m curious does it make you cough when you are lying down?

Lisa - I agree with you about women and the financial aspects. I do absolutely everything except building stuff. Someone asked me recently why I felt the need to do that, I think it was a combination of things. My role models growing up were mostly stay at home women so I thought that’s what all women did. When we were still newly married my husband started driving truck and I had to handle it all. If I waited the 2-3 weeks for him it would have been a disaster. The last was I was a teen in the 80’s all tv women worked and managed the house and they all made it look so easy. Annie on One Day at a Time, Claire Huxtable, the Dynasty and Dallas women. I just grew up thinking it was all my responsibility. I look at young families today and think they are more partners than my friends and I.

We moved backwards in Covid restrictions yesterday, restaurants are closed to dining in again, a bunch more, but I can’t remember it all as it doesn’t affect me. Working in LTC I have stuck with the original restrictions for most of it anyway. However, I had promised our Granddaughter a sleepover last night and her brother next week. Rather than break the promise and knowing they have not really left their house I kept the promise. Since she hasn’t been here by herself, we went to Walmart this morning and she convinced me she needed a new dress to match her mask and shoes.
Later we went to the dollar store for some craft paint and she had to wear her whole ensemble. As we were leaving and I took this picture to send to her Mom she says, “I hope no one ignores me, because I’m so pretty”.



We will be leaving shortly to take her home.

Snowflake- yes you do,my dad even sitting up was always clearing his throat,but he wouldn't see a cardiologist ,so he dealt with it.. he also had a-fib,mitral valve prolapse and cardiomyopathy plus congestive heart failure.. which bless hia heart he passed to me.. both my kids should get tested, as both ,my dad,and I and there dad all have/had heart issues
