I love listening to podcasts when I walk or drive and I stumbled upon this one called Half Size Me that I really enjoy so thought I’d share:
https://podcasts.apple.com/ca/podcast/half-size-me/id502334416
The host has lost over 100 lbs, shares ideas and coaches people with varying goals.
Are there any other podcast listeners out there? If so, what are your favourites for motivation?10 -
Feeling great this week after meal planning, and sticking to plan! This is 100% the thing that works best for me and prevents mindless snacking. I allow 1500 calories per day (I just override the MFP amount) and enter the plan 1-2 days in advance so there is no question about what I’m eating on that day.
April Goal Weight: 170
Ultimate Goal Weight:158 lbs

My partner thinks I must have gained muscle cos I have been working out ? I feel & look slimmer 🤷♀️ I am watching my calories, plus exercising, plus not eating back calories used on working out. I dunno what else I can do 😬
Sorry your partner is wrong. Not possible to put on muscle unless you are in a calorie surplus and weight training. 3lb of muscle would take a long time to put on.5 -
You’ve got this @Up_n_Running ! Those darn scales are helpful but so not reliable. They are only one measure. Celebrate how you were feeling leading up to that weigh in. Weigh again next week. Maybe you’ll have a big drop!5

I didn't dare weigh in on Friday...Have you ever had a bad golf game where you shot from side to side, hooked, sliced and diced...I HAVE...My eating last week was like that, all over the place...the good news is that I increased my exercise over the weekend to end at 1 under par, at 263. Smile!

@lperkins5 love the golf analogy 😂 and yes I’ve hooked and sliced a time or two.
@Up_n_Running just curious, do you use any other measurements? Like pictures or body measurements?
Anybody else? What do you use along with the weigh ins to measure success? The scale is necessary but the fluctuations can be so frustrating!4 -

Iv got a few 'before' pics but it's not something I have kept up. So really I'm just using the number on the scale, and also how my clothes feel, how my clothes look on as well. I can also see weight loss just by looking in the mirror. I can see a difference.
Thanks @Up-n-Running. One year, I was up in Wheeling VA, teaching a subject matter course and we had a golf outing. I was shooting really bad, I told my group, "man I thought that I would have found my game by now,” to wit, one guy said, "your game is so missing, they have a picture of it on the side of a milk carton". Now that’s bad...6 -
Good morning everyone!
So I weighed myself today and I was at 164.6 😒
My goal is to be 150 by June 24th!
And 140 by July 31st
My weigh-in days will be Fridays.
That’s about a 15 lb drop! I know it won’t be easy for me but with my school wrapping up in 2 weeks I will have more time to cook healthier and exercise! Looking forward to this journey

Another big win for me. Last week was spring break. With my in laws in town and a trip to out of town with poor eating choices here in CA I am pleased with my weight this week! In the past, these past two weeks would have been at least a 5 lb weight gain.7 -
Anybody else? What do you use along with the weigh ins to measure success? The scale is necessary but the fluctuations can be so frustrating!
I am using the following metrics to measure my success:- I weigh myself daily with a BIA scale. This gives me my weight and a reasonable estimate of fat mass, lean mass, water mass and bone mass, so it includes body fat percent. Although I weigh daily, it does fluctuate quite a bit, but the trend over time seems reliable enough.
- I didn't do this from the start, but now I periodically take measurements of my neck, chest, belly, waist, hips and thigh.
- And finally, a more reliable but more costly method is a DEXA body scan. I've had one done every three months (three times now, next one around July 10th). This is more accurate than my BIA scale, and I put a lot of faith in what it's telling me.
- Non-measurable methods: my change in energy, mobility, flexibility, emotional state, etc.
- Also, I pay attention to how well I am sticking to my diet plan. The good days give me encouragement; the bad days feed my resolve.

In 2015, I lost 50 pounds going from 320 down to 270. Then I was diagnosed with chronic anemia. I gained all that weight back and then some.
This past year, I've gone from 330 in July to less than 270 currently (I still have a good ways to go).
You did it before... you can do it again. Stick to your plan.8 -
Thanks for all the posts! I don't have much to share this week. I did buy Keto strips to see if I am in ketosis. I tried a strip yesterday, and I did chuckle because the strip showed that I am no where near ketosis. I just cannot stay true to low carb- and I do realize you have to strictly adhere or you will not lose weight.
All the Keto recipes look really good!
This week, I made a roast in the crock pot; I decided it just doesnt taste that good without the potatoes on the side or even better on a piece of French bread.
I'll weigh in Saturday because tonight I did treat myself to a cheat meal.3 -
I'm going to join Costco this weekend.
Does anyone have any tips? Which products do you especially like?
I'm joining for those Keto ice cream bars mostly but I'll buy my Perrier there as well (that will save a lot of money in the long run.3 -

Hi. I am joining in for accountability. I lost 18 lbs back in 2017 which took me to a unsustainable weight near the low end of the healthy bmi for my height. I settled in at a healthy weight that I could maintain pretty easily through exercise and a reasonable diet for a couple of years. Then I developed frozen shoulder and my exercise routine came to a halt. Then Covid! So between lack of exercise and some mild depression related to my shoulder and Covid my eating/drinking was not mindful. I would like to lose 10 lbs to get back to my happy (sustainable) weight. I re-started my PIlates Reformers classes this week (today will be my 5th day in a row) and now I need to get my eating under control. I had ordered the Mastering the Art of French Cooking cookbook the other day and cancelled the order this morning since there is way too much butter in the recipes ! So that's a start! I look forward to this journey with you all.10
