@mytime6630 First, I'd like to say Happy Belated Anniversary! 44 years! That's wonderful. I'm so glad to hear you went out to eat at a restaurant. Something normal....
About the situation with your daughter, I know this has been hard for you since I first joined you on here some years ago, but it sounds like she has gotten even more clingy. Do you think it could be a delayed reaction to her dad going through cancer treatment? Could it be coming from a place of fear of losing you both? I wish I had answers for you, but I honestly don't know what can help her with this. I do really think that if it's possible, maybe you could see a counselor yourself? I see one and discuss different stressors in my life with her and she gives me ideas on how to respond. They are professionals and understand diagnoses better than we do, plus they are observing from an outsider perspective. They are not emotionally involved so they may have some advice as to small things to work on until the big picture looks better? I will be praying for you, your husband and your daughter. HUGS! xxoo4 -
@pridesabtch thank you for the encouragement!0

JFT
Log everything π
Exercise even if only for ten minutes π
Start with only one serving π
Pay attention to the physical effects of the food I eat π
Be kind to my body π
It was a good day. I went a little over my calorie goal but I did it on purpose. Meaning that I didnβt mindlessly eat, I knew before hand how many calories I was eating. I enjoyed the heck out of those raisinets!2 -
Really fell off the wagon with habits the last few days. My weight has plateaued for the last few weeks and I think it finally got to me. Logically I know I need to trust the process and check in about where I've been slipping (eating!), but emotionally it's just hard to be putting in so much work and not see progress on the scale. I know there's more to it than that, and I can appreciate the other successes too. I've just been feeling overwhelmed and behind the ball and I self-sabotaged. I know it's harder to get back on track, but I need to. Here's to tomorrow!
JFT Thursday:
80 oz water
stay in the green
meet all serving recommendations for 5 food groups
30 minutes exercise
screens off 8:30
track food, exercise, water and post on JFT5 -
JFT - Monday to Wednesday
1.5L of water - Yes! All 3 days
Log all food - Yes! All 3 days
Walk 15 minutes - throughout the day but not intentionally.
JFT- Thursday April 22
I donβt want to get out of the habit of posting goals again, visiting in here and being able to say I made my goal is a great motivator for me. Iβm just so tired. Today I added up how many extra hours I had put in this pay period and it was 91 hours more than my regular hours. I didnβt count all of the missed breaks or -anything less then 1/2 an hour early or late. That is a months worth of work in 2 weeks. Iβm beat!
Anyway, I am going to post daily and read but I donβt know how much commenting I get done. Know that Iβm thinking about you

Quite a busy day yesterday. We took time out for two house viewings in the middle of the day, so worked a bit earlier and later to make up for it. As such was short on time for other goals, particularly as had a call in the evening with my girlfriends. So didn't get quite a lot done, but got the essential bits done and stayed pretty much on plan.
The house viewings went well, I don't think we are going to put an offer on either though. With both of them there were elements that we loved - they both had amazing kitchens, one had an amazing living room as well and the other had a gorgeous garden where I could imagine myself sitting drinking coffee . But they also both had things that either me or the boyfriend didn't like so much so I think we probably won't go for them, at this stage. It's really difficult because I'm reluctant to let the good things I loved go? But it would be silly to go for it with things we don't like when we've only looked at two... I have to remember that there will be lots of others just as good, these are not the only ones that are good that we will see! (And that despite what various people keep telling me, there probably is not a house that is 'THE one' that I will regret missing...)
Going for one more viewing today, will see how that one goes!

JFT Wednesday 21st April
Log everything gave up in the afternoon again
Stay in the green no
Back exercises no
Walk no
Admin (yesterday's admin threw up some more to do) yes, several hours
Big shop for mum yes
Shower curtain no
Gardening a little
I'm not doing well with this at the moment. I don't think I'll lose any weight until I feel more optimistic about life.
So I'm not going to set goals just to fail them. My goal is to do something each day, doesn't matter what, as long as I keep busy.

Okay so I got my minimum waters in of 4 cups. Happy enough with that.
I logged perfectly until after dinner and I had some night time snacks, whi h I've now forgotten what they were so I most certainly wasn't in the green but I don't think the damage was too bad. π€
As for the exercise, I got 8.5k steps in. I got really anxious from when the girls got home and til after they went to bed. I had to have one of Ash's diazepams in the end just to get it to stop. And when I did I then stuffed my face.
Think I'm just gonna let yesterday go and start today as a new day
I don't feel anxious today, I'm very tired though but atleast I'm in an okay mood.

Scale goalsEnd of 2017: 174.6
End of 2018: 189.2
End of 2019: 196.4
End of 2020: 187.4
End of January: 189.8
End of February: 190.0
Today: 188.4
Ongoing plans/ideas behind the cut1. Purchases: Look for an "ugly Christmas sweater" and a long-haired doll at thrift stores. Practice French braiding. Go to used bookstore and look for On Writing (Stephen King), The Prince (tr. Tim Parks, Russell Price, or Robert Adams), The Secret Adversary (Christie), Hood Feminism (Mikki Kendall).
2. E2: What should the controlling ideas be in a study of world literature? Review world lit options. Create vocabulary lists for each unit that come from the texts used: Animal Farm, Julius Caesar, Wes Moore, I Am Malala. Find a way to incorporate changing words from one part of speech to another. Students need to know how to review multiple sources and synthesize information in order to draw a conclusion. Need practice with the difference between transitions and overlapping (at end of paragraph - "another issue is Y" vs "there are other issues besides X"). Quit using "in conclusion" and "I believe" and other writing-about-my-writing phrases. Confusion between direct/indirect objects and prepositional phrases. Use the UDHR and the Declaration of Independence to study paraphrasing; use that to front-load Machiavelli and how to deal with challenging texts. Confusion between everyday / every day and similar constructions.
3. E1: Need practice with quoting & paraphrasing sources, identifying claims that would need support, use of last names for reference, and capitalization practice (common/proper nouns, titles). Difficulty using possessive nouns in their own writing. Honors: practice subject/object pronouns (my friend and I / my friend and me). Poetry: Revise "Songs are Poetry" handouts.
4. Curriculum Development: Writing mini-unit. Review scholarly research on 5PE. (I think I can have this as an intro to the research unit so that they also get exposure to how quotes are integrated and cited.) Parallel structure; use of emotional language, specific detail. Use "Write About a Pebble" lesson from Atwell. How long should each unit take? Do research on characteristics: curiosity, persistence, resilience, creativity, responsibility, optimism, courage, integrity, authenticity, leadership, self-awareness, humility, compassion - others? Include grammarly check on essays! Review assessments. What is the purpose for each unit? What should the controlling ideas be in a study of world literature? Review world lit options. Write 1 reflection weekly; type one in Classroom by Weds. Copy-paste to discussion board for comments due Friday. Homework: Online journal Mon due Tue; Reflection Tue due Wed; C&P journal in class Wed; Comments Thu due Fri. Bonus if you are the first response; further bonus if you respond to comments on your post. Grammar practice Mon & Wed; quiz Fri. Unit plan for research (Idea for regular: comparing same story on sites with different biases).
5. Professional Development: Write blog post weekly. Comment on 3 posts each week - Tu Th Sun? Check with PSC. Talk with Z about articles and/or conference proposals.
6. Medical: Dentist call to schedule cleaning β March? ObG schedule for April. Schedule PCP for May.
7. Theater: Little Princess.
8. House: Siding. Or perhaps bathroom floor.
9. Fun: Open beading on Thursdays. Coloring at library on Tuesday. Put jewelry away. Edney Hack Nights alt Weds. ASL? Spanish/Portuguese practice? Practice piano. ROL Secret Adversary. Buy bike rack for car.
10. Volunteering ideas: Theater. Library. Animal shelter. Community Kitchen. Emerge Georgia training.
11. Family: Book group. Dinners?
12. Writing: Blog post: Running, Racism and Rum: Learning to Handle Discomfort. Fanfic: Create a scene list for the Batgirl story. Finish the cafe scene for the Titans story. Open Wordpress in Safari.
13. Lifting: 15 squats, 15 deadlifts, 10 shoulder presses, 15 arm raises, 15 pushups, 30 crunches, 15 side lifts, 15 back kicks, horse stance for 5 breaths.
14. Other: Practice hair braiding with D. Check on appts for drs. Remind D to ask his dad about the table and check with home repair contractors. 3 posts/week? Create test for MLA format. Create test for infographics and visual information. Remember that M does not like surprises! Check dates of classes and update semester plan. She Should Run vision statement. Update standards on board. When to change bulletin board?
WFTY: Persistence. Scale starting to drop again. I just need to continue to be diligent.Reminder: Last year's WFTY was progress, and I am ... actually, I was going to say content, but it's more than that. I'm proud of myself, and I'm pleased with the progress that I made. Even without the challenges throughout the year, I accomplished things that I should be proud of; and given those challenges, I'm even happier about what I was able to do.5 -

Decided with another overnight temp in 20s that I was sick of walking dog in winter clothes this week, so worked out in basement this morning instead. Meets my goal of x-training at least one time per week, since I want to build strength and tone. Plan is get 5 straight days of workout tomorrow before work for several reasons: overnight not as cold so can walk dog, my first vax shot is scheduled Fri. mid-morning & Sat. is supposed to be very rainy. That way I can relax about workouts until Sun.
2021 Goals:1) Weight 150#Word for 2021: Gratitude ~ be mindful of & appreciate my many blessings
2) Plan meals most days & prelog meals/snacks whenever possible on MFP
3) Post weekly weigh-in on JFT for accountability. Saturday a.m. is my "official" weigh-in day, and I peek occasionally other days. My digital scale only shows half pound increments & I'm too cheap to buy a fancier scale.
4) Take measurements & log on MFP every month end ~ remember this year! ~ 1.31.21 ~ 2.28.21 ~ 4.3.21
5) Exercise 5-6x per week (minimum 4x) ~ mostly walking but include weights/circuit & other x-training
6) Participate in race or challenge events even if virtual ~ started MapMyWalk You Vs. 7) Be considerate and loving to hubby and have fun together ~ excellent goal last year that should be repeated
8) Make efforts to keep in touch with parents, siblings and friends (most live in other towns or states) ~ had this goal in 2020 and how ironic
9) Declutter bedroom, home office and basement ~ made good progress in 2020 & want to keep it up3 -
Thank you to all who responded to my "off topic" problem .. but with weight loss, I do feel that there are so many things that drive us to emotional eating, and this has been my hardest thing to deal with, and not want to just eat. We all want the best for our children, and when we are helpless to fix things, or helpless to make things better, it is very hard.
But ... we did talk to our daughter, and to her doctor, and a change in meds was made. Part of all of this is the covid situation, and stressful things this year like her dads cancer, and her being just scared that she will lose both of us. Also.. paranoia in those feelings. We love her dearly, and I don't want you to think that we will not always be there for our daughter .. its just that night, I was so frustrated. I should have stayed away from writing all that on this site, so I am sorry about that, and will try and keep this what it is.. a motivational weightloss thread.
Having said that, I have been doing OK , and am proud of that. I helped our daughter tonite .. she is going to be getting new carpet installed in her apartment, so I helped her move the living room furniture. They will do the bedroom and hallway on monday. Hoping this will help our daughter have a nice apartment (it was a mess), and now that we have our vaccines, things will get easier.
Tomorrow I will weigh in.. and hopefully stayed the same, or lost some.
Goals for tomorrow, Friday, 4/23
1. mindful eating.. think before I eat.
2. stop nitetime snacking
3. concentrate on water
4. other: work on pc boards .. help hubby. I am so tired of working, but someday we can retire! 2. work in yard .. need to mow grass. 3. clean house. 4. wash daughters sofa slipcovers. 5. help daughter move furniture back. 6. go for a walk. 7. fish fry.. eat smart.. do not overstuff myself.

A bit of a mixed day but did better overall. Trying hard to give myself credit for what I did do. Eating was back on track tonight, which was great. I also managed to get out for a walk/run. I felt like I wasn't doing well, but I pushed myself to focus on doing the best I could and enjoying the beautiful day. It wasn't the easiest run, but when I checked my stats it was actually a pretty good run in terms of pacing and distance. I need to learn to trust that I'm doing good enough where I am at.

@bookmeister86 Good luck with the house search! My sister and her partner just bought a house and it was such a process for them. I hope you find one you love!
@littleblackskirt I can understand how you're feeling, I've been there. I know for me going back to basics always helps, and being kind to myself too. Easy to say, hard to do!4 -

Joan, over the last 4 years of being on this thread I KNOW you love your daughter more than anything. You go above and beyond for her all the time, there's no question about it. And no matter how frustrated you get I know you'd still help her. That's just the mental health side of things, I love Ash more than anything but sometimes his problems can really get on my nerves. But I'd still help him.
Do NOT apologise for posting it on here, I know it's a weigh loss thread but we're also all friends. And if you're struggling or just need to vent then know you can always turn to us
