    Glad I gave myself the whole year! 😂 I’m back out on the trails and that feels good. As soon as I eat all the fresh gluten free pasta I stocked up on for some reason, I’m going to dial back on the carb intake. That should help. Maybe I’ll do Keto for a week or two shake it up a little. We’ll see! Let’s do this!

    Help! I’m on a carb bender! I found a gluten free bread that I like so I binged out on toast, just simple toasted bread with butter. It had been so long 😪 Anyway, I got that out of my system. At least all the holiday candy is finally gone 😆 Onward and up...erm...downward! 😂

    @colettebeers8501 its certainly a learning process, but never give up!
    Do you walk or do other exercise? I find that helps me.

    Thank you! I do walk. I try to hike 3 miles a day, at least 6 days a week. The weather’s been kinda cold so I didn’t get out much in January but I’m back at it. I do a little yoga, too. The scale seems to just be stuck but I’m not giving up. I’ve been eating less than 1400 calories a day and I hiked somewhere between 3-5 miles every day this week. i think it’s the carbs and sugar. I just need to reel it in. I do really well when I follow a Paleo or keto-type diet. And again, it’s harder to eat salads and green smoothies when it’s freezing outside. I may just be holding onto some blubber to keep me warm 😂 Hope you’re doing great!

    I bet as spring hits, things will improve!! You are doing great!

    I find carbs usually have sodium so I retain some more water, but it’s more salt-related than carb-related. And falls off once I knock the salt back (but keep the carbs incl veggies/fruits)!for energy!

    But every body is different! We just have to figure out the one we were given!!

    I’m glad to have you with me in this group!

    Still plateaued...need to move my body more or maybe add some new movement in. Maybe my body is so used to walking that it doesn’t stress it enough to shed weight..? Everything they tell you about how hard it is to lose weight when you’re over 50 is TRUE! I didn’t believe a word of it but here I am 😂

    Hi Maddie! I’m glad to have you here, too! I think we’re the last women standing here and it’s great! That’s a good observation about the salt. When I eat carbs, it’s something high fat/high sodium, chips and salsa, and I eat a lot of salt anyway. It makes sense. Thanks for that. I’ll see if tweaking my salt intake shakes things up a little. Lord knows nothing else is! Hope you’re doing great!

    Finally, the numbers are moving down again! As I suspected, when I let go of of the grains, I let go of the weight. I dropped all the way down to 152 during last week but “celebrated” with pasta and M&Ms over the weekend 🤷🏻‍♀️ Will I never learn? It’s all good though. I feel better when I don’t eat more veggies instead of starchy stuff anyway and it’s helpful to see the evidence on the scale. Back to being a loser! 😉

    We BOTH turned things around! I went through a very stressful time beginning 2/12/21 - finally got things turned around beginning 3/6/21.

    I switched to 3 meals & 3 snacks. At set meal/snack times. A set number of calories per meal/snack combo. So far, it’s been great - spreads my food out & I’ve found when I have set meal times I don’t get hungry as much at other times!

    Glad to be in this journey with you! 🦄

    I seem to be dropping a few lbs every week but gaining it back on the weekends because weekends are for treats! LOL It’s cool though. The numbers are still dropping just slowly. Hopefully, that means I’m doing it the healthy way and that it’ll stay gone!
    @MadisonMolly2017 YES! Never give up! Every day is a new opportunity for a do over...thank goodness! 😉

    It’s looking like the weekend carb binges aren’t really working the way I want them to. In my head, I’d be really good, lots of veggies and some lean protein, all week and have potatoes and tortillas (and booze), that kind of stuff, on the weekends. That way I wouldn’t feel deprived and I could really make a dietary lifestyle change. Looks like what I’m really doing is that yo-yo dieting they talk about, losing and gaining it back, only I’m doing it every week. Oh well, I still feel pretty good about being in the 150s. Back to the drawing board!

    Sometimes I would work to maintain & eventually I’d get to the point where I really wanted to lose more. In that new mindset, I could do things I couldn’t earlier.

    After looking at data over past 2.5 years, I changed my high goal weight to 157.3 or lower ie 71.5kg. 🏅
    I’ll reconsider if it doesn’t work, but so far, so good.

    Haven’t checked in in a while. Life is so full right now but I’m still hovering around 155. In my estimation, it seems like that’s where my body likes it right now because it hasn’t been hard to maintain. I still want to see if I can drop that last 10 and keep it off but right now I just don’t want to do the work! There must be some kind of metaphor for life tucked into that statement 😉 Anyway, as always alcohol and sugar are my hurdles. The world has been opening up so there is more socializing. And how do I socialize? With drinks and food, of course. My job is a little stressful right now so afternoon lattes and sweet snacks are happening more often. I look forward to a day when I can look at a cookie and not want it with all of my soul but I’m not there yet. So, maintaining is good right now. Going to add in some intermittent fasting days and dial back the wine and see what happens. I’m so glad the weather is warming up! More hiking 😁 Happy summer 🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼

    5/1/21 changed to low fiber, lower fat diet temporarily due to some symptoms

    @colettebeers8501 I feel the same way about you! The fact is we’re both maintaining our losses! I might try to lose a few pounds when it gets cooler again in September, but I’ll decide then. A few pounds won’t make a difference in my health - not sure the vanity is worth the added struggle.

    Re: socializing & work-induced afternoon snacks, consider listening to some of the Half Size Me podcasts. She’s a big advocate of setting aside some calories for those treats. And then REALLY thinking about how you want to spend them.

    I drink nonfat lattes which are basically non fat milk. I eat small amts of very dark chocolate - great anti-oxidant & skip the Very High Calorie coffee shops baked goods.

    Others would have ice cream or a slice of quiche or an extra helping of meatloaf or a beer. We can’t have it all, but we can make sure we are eating what we really love - at least occasionally!

    One thing I tell myself which stopped me eating when I was stressed or emotionally upset was “Eating won’t fix it. In fact, it will give you one more problem to deal with (the added weight) so you’ll have 2 instead of 1.” This logical approach worked every time for me. Food CAN’T fix it in the long run!

    Socializing is a tough one, but I know you can try different approaches & find the one that works best for you!!

    I tried managing cookies (like ice cream) at least 15 times over the past couple of years. Can’t do it with either. I’m fine for a day or two & then I’m eating 7. I don’t eat them now. Ice cream is bad for Crohn’s which I have & cookies aren’t worth jeopardizing my maintenance for.

    You can do this!

    @MadisonMolly2017 thanks for the recommendations. All great stuff! I agree that you’ve we’ve still got to live our lives and can’t eat “perfectly” all the time. I tend to go on junk binges and then get super strict but that ends up with me yo-yoing back and forth between them. I’m working on bringing more moderation and balance into my life in general but especially into my dietary choices. It’s totally doable. It just takes me changing a lifetime of behavior.
