It's really more about not feeling deprived. Well, my girlfriend had four cupcakes left from her birthday and as today is the day she's done with her semester, we had them out, and I had one. The icing made me sick enough that I suspect I will not be having icing again. I will have to lie down this afternoon and get over the headache, and that's despite taking the pill that's supposed to help with the fructose intolerance. And calorically, it really wasn't worth it. I'd rather have a homemade banana muffin; it doesn't whallop me over the head the way cake does and is tastier for about the same amount of calories, or a little less.
Oof, talk about learning the hard way. Congrats to your gf on surviving another trip around the Sun and finishing her semester, though, I hope the cupcakes were kinder to her.3 -
Hi there - I've been bouncing back and forth across the 200 lb mark for a month or two. I just need to hang out and read through these posts for a while!10

I have started to look at my sodium for the day. I used franks hot sauce and teriyaki sauce today and I can't believe the amount of salt. The calorie intake remains within range at 1200 and I exercised today. I May have to drink extra water to flush the sodium out.
@Pamici9 stay with it, eventually, it will come off. At least you are not gaining anything back.

Quick update:
Exciting NSV: I discovered this morning is that I can fit into my full-length leather coats that were XLT (and do up at least 2 buttons) - I haven't been able to wear them in so many years, but, they were expensive and I absolutely loved them that I refused to give them up and I am glad that I did not!!
@KeriA Thank you!! I also love hearing that people got their shots. I got my second dose yesterday and I was happy. The arm is still a little sore, but, I am working it and the soreness has been decreasing.13 -

So, I won't have access to my normal scale tomorrow, so I thought I should do my weigh-in today. But I forgot I was going to do that until I'd already been up for an hour, gotten fully dressed, gone for a walk, and drank a pint of water, LOL. So that 230.4 also includes about a pound of water and about a pound for clothes and shoes. So more like 228.4. I'm not too mad about it.8 -
Hi everyone, bought a pair of jeans a few weeks ago and realized they are too big So just bought a size 14 and they arrived yesterday
Weight is coming off but just did another readjust to the scale number as always catching myself with the "dreaded lean". It is part of the process for me so feel I need to be accountable to work through it.
I am going to readjust my goal for end of May to 208.Think I need to start to post weekly too.
Loving your posts everyone, thank you for your transparency . You all keep me motivated9 -
@uyister Great news of your NSV! That is exciting that you can wear your beautiful coats again.3

@kelMee2 I can relate to your NSV. I had a stressful week last week with drama that my FIL and SIL brought. I was impressed that my instant response was not turning to food but instead I turned to exercise. Sorry about your plumbing issues. I have had that happen before and it stinks. I hope you share pictures of you in your new jumper when you are ready!
@EmOniker I like that you do not set a time frame on your loss and would rather you go along with what is healthiest. I follow a similar strategy and also prefill my water that I need to drink for the day.
@Getthisoffbyxmas Feel free to add me on here. I don't ever hit "complete" for my diary but it is open. I log into MFP throughout the day and also use Fitbit to track some things. I could always use more active Fitbit friends too.
@AlexandraFindsHerself1971 I love your advice. Thanks for sharing. I too find myself wanting to move more and more as the weight comes off. I find myself constantly looking in the mirror. I no longer see a fat person looking back, I see a person who is fighting her hardest to get her life back. I am amazed with the results I see so far, even if I still do have a very long way to go.
I don't get to read through all the posts and respond as much as I would like. I weigh in on Sundays. I will update then. I try to stay off the scale during the week or I find I become obsessed with it. For kicks I stepped on today and if things keep going the way they are for me I will have another loss to report.
Keep up the great work ladies. You all are amazing!

@VickyEltonGreen well done on the smaller jeans, that's definitely a NSV.
@JNettie73 family drama is a nightmare, I cut my sil out of my life because of the drama she caused I just felt she was toxic and honestly my life has been so much better without her.
I will share my new jumper when it fits comfortably, hopefully it'll only be a few more weeks till I'm sliding into it, I need my flabby arms to shrink so the sleeves won't be tight but I'll get there.
Decided to push myself some more today, did my usual walk of 5km, 10 minutes on the exercise bike which was another 5.4km and a 10 minute upper body workout with dumbells that I found on here so burned 500 calories today. Sodium intake was a lot higher today than it normally is although still within my nutrient goal but I'm hoping by drinking my 2 litres of water and making sure tomorrow's a lower sodium day that it shouldn't affect Saturdays weigh in.4 -
I am new to this altogether.
I have a thyroid condition and a heart defect that really doesn’t effect my life except for yearly checkups. My more recent visits show some elevated pressures and now I am on a lifestyle change and weight loss journey. My entire life I have never really done much in the way of exercise...I found out later that I had hyperthyroid and that helped me not gain weight...until I had it corrected and had two kids. 😜
Age: 34
Height: 5’3”
SW: 229
CW: 215
GW: 150-180 (I am trying not to overwhelm myself)
I would love to wear a Medium again. My drs never gave me a number...just to be unrecognizable (SMH) in 6 months. That will be September.
So far I have lost an average of a lb a week. I started really good and spoke to a nutritionalist about what to eat and was logging my food for about two months. Then I stopped and ate things I shouldn’t have and didn’t exercise at all. I am hoping to find motivation and encouragement from a group that is in the trenches with me.
I am a stay at home mom with a 4 yr old. He is a turtle when walking, won’t ride his bike around with me and won’t stay in the backyard alone for me to go around our small block where I can hear him at all times. Haha...can we say “stinker”.
I bought roller blades...I loved blading when I was younger. I love that it also provides a more strenuous workout...if only I could get my son out and moving with me.
My goals this month are to figure out a daily workout plan. I have never NEVER don’t this before so it is overwhelming. Where to start? To many options of workout video types.
Another goal is to lose more than a lb a week.
Thanks for reading my lengthy post!10 -
@ahowell36 I can highly recommend Holly Dolke workout videos on YouTube, her workouts are usually 10 minutes long and she has loads of different ones, full body, arms, abs.6
-
@kelMee2 That was exactly it. The drama they both brought led me to the ultimate decision of completely cutting them both out of our lives. This has been something brewing for the past 3 years and has finally come to an ugly head. Neither are good people and we are better off without them.
@ahowell36 I used to love roller blading too. I pulled out mine when the pandemic hit and tried them. At my size, I felt so unsteady and had to take them off. I was afraid of falling and getting hurt. You just gave me an idea though. Maybe that will be my summer goal - to try again and relearn how to roller blade again. Thank you!!!
As far as exercise, I think it is easiest to look at things you enjoy doing then go from there. For me, I bought a small stepper that I can also use as a stationary bike. I use that in conjunction with hand weights. I also love activities such as cardio kickboxing (however my knees cannot handle it right now), biking, yoga, dancing and hiking. I have a 6 year old, I try to incorporate her when I am able to into some activites. We will play tag in the yard, catch, badminton, go hiking or on walks around the neighborhood. Luckily for me she learned about Earth Day in school and frequently wants to go for walks and clean up the neighborhood. LOL
Maybe over time, your son will see you being active and become more inclined to join you. Some ideas for you to incorporate him now that it is getting warmer is to play games such as water ballon fights, super soaker fights, relay races, going on an adventure (hike/walk) to see how many fun things (birds, pine cones, flowers, trucks) you can find. These things will get you up and moving while you are spending quality time and making memories with him!6 -
@Spotteddingo Thank you!! I almost broke them out when I saw the temp was in the high 40's today!!🤦🏾♀️🙄😁😀😀5

@KeriA I have a fitbit too and that's the reason I haven't been using it, my wrist came out in a rash which took weeks to heal, really wish the straps weren't plastic.
Look on Amazon - they have fabric replacement bands. Paint the back of the face (if it touches your skin) with clear nail polish to keep from skin contact!!4 -
I don't post often, but read all the stories and comments, I have to say you are all ROCK STARS. Getting it done. Not all days are good, but you are all trying. I am halfway through qualifications for my insurance to get weight loss surgery and have already lost 40# from my highest weight. I follow along with all your stories and learn something from every one. Thanks for letting me hang out.10

@azalea4175 Thank you, I'll go and have a look, I hate that it's just sitting in a drawer and am desperate to use it again a fabric strap would be ideal.3

Continuing with my forward progress! I think I’m in a slightly better place than I was two days ago, when I was really mourning having to change out my workouts because of an injury. It’s good to practice being flexible as I adapt to this new lifestyle! I’m also considering changing up my macros for a week or so to see if that helps my overall mood.
On the positive side, I’ve consistently consumed 3.5-4L of water every day this week (up from my usual 3-3.5L), which is a goal I’ve been trying to work toward for weeks but this is the first week I’ve been able to do it. I’ve also eaten three meals out with friends and been able to still stick to my calorie goals, which was another of my goals.
When I have time this weekend, I need to sort through a box of my old clothes from 5 years ago (before I put on weight) and see what I can incorporate into my current wardrobe. I am currently somewhat limited in what looks “good” as I hit the -35lb mark this week. There aren’t any second hand stores where I live, so I’m going to try to make do with what I have until I hit goal weight. Hopefully I can successfully “shop my closet” and come up with a few more outfits to bridge the gap.9 -

Hi everyone, I hope you’ve all had good weeks.
So, no loss for me this week. Well, 0.01 of a lbs, so pointless even bothering to log it, I can fluctuate more than that in any given day. I knew this would happen though as I predicted last week. My body goes through these cycles of lose, lose, lose, nothing for ages, then lose, lose, lose and so on…just have to keep at it and it will eventually budge in the right direction again.
I also do my own version of the 5:2 diet, in so much as I’m strict with my calories Mon-Fri but over the weekend I let lose a bit and have that glass of wine, or maybe even a take-out, I just make sure that I’m still burning slightly more than I’m consuming. I find this helps me stay on track as I’m not then craving things and I think the increase in calories over those two days kind of keeps my body a bit happier.
I’m trying to keep to my daily walk but the weather here in the UK has been rotten for the last few weeks, its such a shame as usually this time of year is just beginning to get nice and warm and sunny, but we’ve had days and days of grey clouds and intermittent rain. It’s forecast rain for the next week too. Fingers crossed it starts to change soon and we can all get outside a bit more.
@KeriA and @kelMee2 – I have a Versa 3 too and also found the plastic strap made my wrist go all blotchy, so I bought a leather strap from Amazon and hey-presto, no issues at all now.
@sandielewis2001 as you see I’ve hit a plateau too, I find this is just my bodies natural cycle and with a bit of perseverance it will start going down again at some point, it’s a case of keeping it going and waiting it out. Taking your measurements is a good way of seeing that the weight might not be changing on the scales, but you might still be losing inches. Always a great NSV.
Thanks for the kind wishes re finding a new home, we have a viewing tonight but I reckon we’re up against some stiff competition, as every rental around here currently has about 30 applicants, but you’ve got to be ‘in it to win it’ so to speak, so at least we managed to get a viewing booked!
Happy weekends, folks.
