06/11 - 212lb. Ate late again last night, plus gym session and not enough water will probably be the reason for the gain.
06/12 - 211.8lb. Managed a 9K run today and feel pretty good because of it.
06/13 - 211.8lb. Frustrated the scale isn’t moving- hopefully it will come.
06/14 - 210.8lb. Back to where I started this round. Hopefully a couple of losses will follow to get me to a new low. Quick gym session today- cut short due to a horrible stitch which wouldn’t go away on my treadmill HiiT workout.
06/15 - 210.4lb. Didn’t really eat a main meal last night. Felt sick after the gym. A loss is a loss though. Did an 8K run in the evening.

6/12 DNW
6/13 200.1 drinks, cake, candy, cookies, dancing. Mom 70th birthday poker party. Need to drink plenty of water today.
6/14 DNW I washed my hair so the scale would have been skewed. I went for a walk to the park yesterday with my little ones. I little hot but my local park has a splash pad for them to get a little wet. Needless to say they slept in this morning.
6/15 199.2 I though the uptick was temporary but it is sticking around. I just finished lunch and I am hungry still. Drinking plenty of water

JUST GIVE ME 10 DAYS ~ Round 153 (round 85 for me ) I continue to prove time after time that I need this to help me keep on track! Thank you @QuiltingJaine for setting up the new challenge.

Aims:2021 Focus:JGM10D ~|~ Round 153 🔹Posting weight and comments each evening.- Maintain weight < 150
- Strengthen strategies to reframe the tendency to use unhealthy snack food as a reward/treat.
- Make sure I have prepared healthy snacks available
- Cut down on eating between meals by keeping busy
Never give up! Never give in!
Recent Back Story:- 2018 goal: get back down to 160 ✅
- 2019 goal: proceed down to 150 ✅ with 2 months to spare
- 2020 goal: maintain below 150 dropping slowly down to 145 ✅ Strength training has slowed progress, but that’s okay.
- That's a WIN in my book!
- 2021
- Focus: maintenance! I might even manage to lose a bit more ever so slowly.
- (One good thing about Covid is that I don't have to traverse the minefield of family celebration meals.)

THERE ARE NO QUICK FIXES OR SHORTCUTS to achieving permanent change.
REMINDERS: One or two thoughts which might give heart to some of you.- Daily weight fluctuations are normal, and can be as much as 2 lbs a day for no apparent reason.
- A general downward trend is what we are looking for.
- Eating out can cause apparent weight gain because of high sodium levels, but usually goes quickly. Drinking extra water helps with this.
- The human body does not react instantly to what we do to it. Sometimes it can take several days to see results.
- Plateaus are a normal part of the process. The body is consolidating and adapting to your new way of eating/exercising.
- The closer you get to your goal weight, the more difficult it becomes to lose weight, as your body becomes more efficient at using what you feed it.
- When you exercise you build muscle, which takes up less space than fat, so use measurements as well as weight to assess your progress.
- Getting/Staying fit and healthy requires a lifestyle change for most people.

6/11--220.4 Worked out with trainer today.
6/12--218.9 Not surprised with the big drop, stomach was bothering me yesterday, so I didn't eat a lot. Plan today is to go out and do some trail walking with the puppy, may throw in a couple of running intervals. Planning to bbq some chicken today before it starts to rain.
6/13--217.3 Another really light day of eating yesterday because of my stomach, but my stomach feels so much better today and my weight will probably be up tomorrow. My hubby is having friends over today, first time since the shut down last year, so they will be in the basement playing games. I took the dog out for a walk before it started raining today, so I will be doing some things around the house upstairs.
6/I4--217.5 Stomach felt good yesterday and ate at my calorie goals. Today is trainer day.

My DH’s family used to have one every summer around the 4th of July but since there is only 1 of my MIL’s siblings left and COVID last year, we have heard nothing. The younger generations are too busy. It’s sad. I miss seeing the families getting together. That said, our own family (2 daughters, spouses and kids) all got together on Memorial weekend for the first time in 13 years! It was WONDERFUL!

5/10: 183.1 - just 2.9 pounds off 186, my heaviest weight ever - (stopped posting on this challenge July 2020 - very glad to be back!)
Round 153
Goals: Above all, patience - don't think any further than 10 days at a time!
80oz water; row 30 mins, most days; free-weights; eat vegetables/fruit; 1200 to 1500 calories; IF most days; no sugar; temporary elimination of wheat
SW: 176.4
Previous posts6/11 - 176.3 NSV: I've worked from home for over 20 years and have lived in sweat pants way too much and also allows for weight to creep up without realizing it. Today it was cooler and I put them on and they were loose. You know something is going right when your elastic waisted pants are getting bigger! LOL
6/12 - 175.9 - I had to check myself this morning for the past few days. I was starting to swap wheat products for corn products. My slim and can-eat-only-one-cookie husband is also temporarily eliminating wheat and he decided maybe nacho corn chips would replace his pretzels for a while. Well, he eats 2 chips and says, yuk, these are too greasy and salty and doesn't eat any more. Well, you know how that story ends...I step in and eat them all, but the good news is I was able to spread them out over a few days where the old me would have eaten the entire bag, and eaten everything else in the house because I felt like I "blew" it. The same with popcorn, I wasn't sticking to 1 serving (and too much butter and salt), so, I was ending up within my calorie range but with 700 of my calories from chips and popcorn and shaky and starving. And it felt like I was slipping toward a full-fledge binge. Chips are now gone and going back to "my plan" that has been working and why I have been feeling so good!! I even noticed my ankles were starting to swell again. BTW, my sweet husband said he shouldn't have bought them instead of thinking I should have been able to handle it. He knows my problem and is so supportive. Thank you for letting me air this out here, it helps so much!!
6/11 - 176.3
6/12 - 175.9
6/13 - 175.4 weighed later than usual so we'll see if it sticks around tomorrow
6/14 - 175.6 VERY happy with this weight this morning! I weighed at my usual time and still mid 175's. I think I can say I'm solidly there even if it jumps around for a few days - YAY!
6/15 - 175.3 Increased my calories yesterday and going forward. A problem I NEVER have had is too few calories. However, temporarily eliminating wheat (not all carbs, just wheat - I still eat potatoes, oatmeal, etc.,) and milk for the first time, and the fact I'm never hungry in the mornings and stop eating by 6p each day, (AND I got rid of the corn chips ), my calories are lower than they need to be, especially on the days I row/free-weights. A better problem to have than the way I used to be starving by the end of the day, but too few calories is not a healthy way to lose it either.
6/16 - 175.3 couldn't sleep so got up early and rowed. It's such a beautiful morning - in the upper 50's and sunny.

6/16 - 147.3 - I expected to be up with dinner. DD wanted to make dinner and decided on a chicken spinach artichoke lasagna. It was delicious, though heavy. I'm feeling a bit heavy myself and have a bit of low belly bloat still going on, but really shocked dinner didn't drive weight up. Especially with all the dairy. Fasted 14 hours but was feeling a bit lightheaded. Drank 90 oz water. Walked the pup in the morning then DD and I went on a bit of a longer walk after dinner down this hilly road FamWife wants to take her on for runs (DD is in track/cross country and FamWife loves running). Today and tomorrow I need to force myself to do kickboxing. I'm feeling better than yesterday, but I'm still quite groggy this morning. Hopefully 2 days of workouts before we leave will help banish the last of this bloat and get me feeling like I was Sunday. Maybe even better than Sunday? Girl can hope.
6/17 - Godson's birthday!
6/18 - TBD - Leaving for Gulf Coast. Happy birthday, BF!
6/19 - DNW - Gulf Coast
6/20 - DNW - Return from Gulf Coast. Happy Father's Day!
Previous Day's Comments6/11 - Shocked by this. We tried a new pizza place that we ALWAYS forget exists (a little hole in the wall). It was delicious, super filling, and even cheaper than our usual for 5! We will definitely be going back there. I expected to be up since I was stuffed on pizza, didn't get a workout in, and spent a good chunk of the day sitting between 1hr commute to work, sitting in morning training, 1 hr commute home, then 2 more hour-long meetings (on the computer so couldn't walk during). Did manage to get steps in between, though, and surpassed my step goal (currently set at 7200). Fasted 17 hours, drank 90 oz water. Today, despite being my day off, I woke up 10 minutes later than I normally do for work so I decided to save myself and get up. If I went back to sleep, I'd probably have a headache, be groggy, and feel horrid. Stupid oversleeping... Gave me time to knock out my kickboxing workout and take the pup for a walk before it got hot (BF decided to start walking recently to help with sleep and took her last night to make up for me being gone in the morning)
6/12 - Likely sodium blimp from homemade beef lo mein. Also TOM should be here within a few days so I expected a jump up. Hopefully TOM and all the bloating that comes with will be gone by next weekend before we head to the Gulf. Feeling pretty good with the progress in the mirror. Fasted 15 hours, drank 90 oz water. took pup on 2 walks and finished my kickboxing yesterday. Today we are working on the land before heading to my Godson and Goddaughter's combined birthday party (private family parties are on their actual birthdays, Goddaughter's on the 1st and Godson's on the 17th). Tomorrow we will head to the river to cool off and relax for the first time this year. Finally getting warm enough!
6/13 - This....is weird. Didn't track fasting but know I broke it early before heading to the land. Busted my butt working on the land though no formal exercise. Managed 90 oz water but also a few drinks. I'm happy with it. Especially if we do make it out to the river to swim today. Hope it sticks around (or even gets better) for next weekend. No sign of TOM or even pre-TOM bloat. Hoping it comes and goes before the weekend
6/14 - No hugs needed. This is a bit of dehydration, a bit of Mexican food for dinner, and a bit of bloat (likely combination of food and pre-TOM). Totally and completely expected. Back at it today, already changed into workout clothes. Knocking out my kickboxing as soon as my morning meeting is over, then take the pup for a walk before it gets too hot for her but once it's bright enough for me to feel comfortable. My water cup is filled and ready. I'm determined to bounce back by Friday. I know I can do it as long as I stay on track (:
6/15 - Initial TOM drop. Still feeling that heavy, puffy feeling, though not as bad as yesterday. Hopefully by tomorrow that will be gone. Yesterday, after some technical issues, I was able to get kickboxing done. Took pup on a nice walk, and managed at least 250 steps every hour from 7am to 5pm (Fitbit). Then kiddos wanted to take the pup on another walk after dinner which I obliged to. Fasted 17 hours, drank over 90 oz water. Suuuuper tired this morning so skipping kickboxing and just taking the pup for a walk. Not sure what lunch will be, choices limited but no grocery shopping until after we return from the coast. Should have some frozen veggies in the deep freeze to work with. Work will be busy today so focusing on water and hitting step goal in between meetings.

She's still tearing around and I can't find anything specific wrong with that foot or leg, so I am massaging it (she enjoys that because she's a big sookie). Found a little gooseberry bush to dig up this fall, and managed to pick up 28 (I am not making that up) ticks all on my own. Also started week 3 of c25k, where one has to "run" for 3 minutes straight for the first time, three times. I thought this would kill me but it wasn't too bad. The third round of a 3-minute jog was definitely harder than the first though! Giving myself the day off today and just going on short dog walks, as it's going to start raining soon and I am just plain tired!)
With all these ticks, do you wear long pants and sleeves so the ticks are not latching onto you? Ticks give me the creepy crawlies especially with the deer ticks we have in Massachusetts. I would be so worried about the yuck/illness that can come along with ticks.
Oh yes, long light coloured trousers, socks up over the ends of them, long sleeves and a bug jacket, always with the hood up when I go through wooded areas. The only thing I can catch from ticks here is Lyme disease and they have to latch on for a while to transmit that, so I'm trying not to worry about it. It's dog ticks here. The dogs are on meds now and the ticks are leaving them alone (all the more for me!) I used to scream frantically when I found a tick on me, but I've become desensitized and a regular Crocodile Dundee at detecting and killing them. But I am too addicted to walking in the woods to give it up!4 -

My scale readings bounced up 4 pounds when I changed batteries, so I didn’t suddenly gain 4+ pounds. I didn’t want to write that down but, other than the horror of a heavier weight, what difference does it make? So I’m going with the new readings, dammit.

Off to do some weight training — laying brick edging in my gardens. 😁
6/12 - 188.4 - 1862
Happy Saturday!
6/13 - 189 - 1622
I’m so tempted to go back to the very low calorie level I was eating three years ago for dietitian- prescribed elimination diet. I lost weight fast, but I know that’s what screwed up my metabolism and got me at least partly to where I am now. Maybe a week on, week off? I’m fed up, so to speak. Happy for those of you who are doing better!
6/14 - 188.8 - 1777
It’s a gorgeous morning here. I’m torn between digging in the edging on my gardens or heading out for a long walk along the river. Hmmm. Maybe edging this morning, walk this afternoon. As long as I’m outdoors, I’m happy!
6/15 - 189 - 1172
Yesterday was a good day. I’m aiming to repeat.
6/16 - 188.6 - 1276
We’re having a string of absolutely gorgeous days in the mid-80s with low humidity. Perfect! I can hardly come inside!

Not close to a screen this weekend, so I am catching up with the last three entries. This number would have been larger if not for 3 hours of shooting sporting clays on Saturday under a boiling sun. I am sure some evaporation happened. 😊
It is Flag Day here in the U.S.! I am flying the colors!
6/15: 211.0
Starting to plan for the weekend. DW’s family reunion weekend, which includes a postponed Saturday funeral for an aunt who died in January; The actual reunion picnic on Saturday night; and we are hosting a party Friday night for DW’s cousins (25 of us all in our 50’s -70’s.) I will be smoking some pork shoulder for pulled pork sandwiches.
All of it centered around food. I am sure I will not feel the slightest hunger pang for three days.

6/11 205.1 Walked 2.3 + 1.3 miles, 1450 cal, 83 net carbs, AF. Torchy’s Tacos ordering a Crossroads in a bowl + lettuce. The hardest part was not ordering a Torchy’s Tini! But I held firm to my promise to myself to target AF M-Th this week after returning from New Orleans vacation.
6/12 205.6 Walked 1.6 miles, danced,1558 cal, 82 net carbs, 1 glass wine. I did really pretty well considering we attended a 1 year anniversary party!
6/13 206.0 No exercise,1865 cal, 146 net carbs, 1 wine. Fast food burger & fries for late lunch. Made Charleston’s 82 Queens recipe for shrimp & grits this evening for all my kids and their spouses. Not surprised in the bump up
6/14 206.0 Walked 1.5 miles, gardening, 2021 cal, 165 net carbs, AF.
6/15 206.5 No exercise, 1561 cal, 125, AF. Busy day reviewing mom’s draft will with her and my sister, making dinner for a family with a new baby & company. Poor eating though on my part … Popeyes fried chicken for lunch and then chicken & sausage jambalaya for dinner.
6/16 205.8 Walked 2 miles, 1651 cal, 88 net carbs, 1 glass wine. Shopping with my sister, mailed books to my brother’s grandkids for summer reading, got in the new washing machine so now I can catch up on the dirty clothes!

I'm Mike. I am here for the happy hour specials. Slowly chipping away at weight. HW was 252, GW is 200.
6/11 236.1. Finished last round with a nice down trend and so of course I get to start this round with an up-bounce. Lots of sodium for dinner (meat lovers pizza) and a beer. I'll get that tended to quickly.
6/12 236.1. The struggle is eternal.
6/13 travel day
6/14 travel day
6/15 236.0. Again, decent weekend management on net. But my blood sugar was very high this morning. That suggests that what I am eating is not calorie-massive but relatively high in carbs. (The other explanation would be that I am getting a lot of exercise in the car but come on....) Time for a walk if I can get caught up at work by lunch time.
6/16 235.2. Blood sugar....194. I stared at the meter in disbelief, thought back to last night. A light dinner, no snacking. WTF? Then it hit me.... for the first time in probably a decade, I had simply forgotten to take my insulin last night. STUPID. And a 194 reading in the morning means it was likely over 300 overnight. I am only alive in 2021 because I agreed to a bargain with modern chemistry -- I eat right and inject a chemical cocktail into my body several times a day, and in exchange I get to live longer. I wonder how many brain cells, kidney cells, liver cells, heart cells, retina cells died last night because I failed to hold up my end of the bargain? GOT to do better. Weight is irrelevant compared to blood sugar management. Come on Michael, we are better than this.
6/17 234.8; MBS 133. Back on track. I am not happy with myself, overall. This round has been spent reclaiming ground I had already covered. As the Wise Woman says, there are good rounds and bad rounds. I just wish I was not quite so VERY round.

We ALL have good rounds and bad but that is part of life. Don’t stay away, stay accountable. We don’t judge, we support.-Jpv,2/13/19
What we need to succeed is a sustainable way of eating, not a DIET we go on and off.
This is NOT A DIET. It’s a LIFESTYLE.

6/11 115.0 Honestly, I’m surprised. I was sick and lost my dinner last night and this morning my FBS was the highest it’s ever been - 113. I guess I’ll see what tomorrow brings. Throbbing headache so not looking at the message board yet.
6/12 113.5 Pretty much fasted yesterday as I was barely awake. 5 saltines and 1/2 slice of toast, seltzer, Coke Zero (for caffeine,) and water. I seem to have recovered. I’ve been up almost 2 hours and still working on first mug of coffee.😊 Feeling almost like myself again and I’m hungry but hungry for weird stuff that should probably not be put in a recently upset tummy!
6/13 115.5 Totally expected since I’m sure I was dehydrated after “losing my lunch” on Thursday night. Neighbor made Filipino food for the one meal I ate yesterday but I really didn’t eat much. I drank 2 20 oz Powerade Zeros, a liter of tonic water with some True Lime, and at least 3 30 oz glasses of water.
6/14 116.0 Great Greek for lunch yesterday. Ate 1/2 of my salad and gyro meat and 1/2 pita. It’s all good. After both of us having some stomach bug in the last few days, I’m skipping water fitness today.
6/15 116.0 Finished my salad and gyro but have had no TMI since Friday.
6/16 116.0 Surprised, Chinese buffet for the first time since before COVID. Not as good as it used to be and limited selection.
Couldn’t get this to post yesterday. Memorial Day weekend photo shoot-all 13 of us.

6/13-166-Whew! Glad to see that; I’ve been eating sensibly, and walking.
6/14-DNW-Feeling a bit puffy after the weekend. Walked a couple miles after dinner. Busy day; should get exercise.
6/15-167-Heavy but healthy dinner. Garden Club pot luck at the park before we disburse for summer; hopefully I won’t eat too much crap.
6/16-166-Made sure to eat a light dinner and walked 4 miles.8 -

6/11: 173.9
6/12: 173.9 Still holding steady at this weight, hoping for a drop tomorrow! Menu planning today for next week.
6/13: 173.7 Super busy day yesterday, so was OMAD, not eating until 7:30 p.m. & then enjoyed some wine with my husband in the evening. Happy to say I did not get into any late night snacks after drinking, which is a big win!!
6/14: 173.6 New week, feeling very motivated! Last night with dinner, I had a salad from our small vegetable garden, the lettuce is the 1st "harvest", still waiting for everything else to be ready to picked. On plan for today is a full body strength workout.
6/15: DNW Absentmindedly drank water right when I woke up, so skipped the scale for that reason
6/16: 173.2 Delicious dinner last night with lettuce and herbs from our garden, + 1 mojito (got to use that mint!)
