Hi all...I am still around & reading posts, but guess I just haven't felt like posting anything. Still a few things to test on the elimination diet, I have kind of slacked off on it. It was pretty constricting, especially since nothing seemed to change.
@trooworld Beautiful picture at the art gallery. Hope your works get in the next one. Happy Birthday to your DH.
@TeresaW1020 Yay for losing the pound & the half inch. I would almost be more excited about the half inch, it would help clothes.
@cbabie Wow, I am envious of your pool, altho I know they are much appreciated in AZ. I love to swim! Havent tried the public pool here yet this year. (they were closed last year of course, but are open now)
@theslightedgeforever Wow, now I want cake, too, but you could keep the frosting. Glad you are back with your program again. Is it a big adjustment with DH home all the time?
We have gone to OK a few times this spring which is not helping the weight loss. Dd & gkids will be coming here on 6-30 for about 3 weeks. Hope it goes well... the gkids here & the gkids there are so different, it can be trying.
Found out the 14 yr old GD got her Covid shots. Guess the 2nd one really made her sick for a few days. She's the one that DD thinks maybe had Covid way at the beginning, even tho at that time, it wasn't a diagnosis.
I am still doing pretty well with my walking, although now that it has gotten hot, it is more on the treadmill than outside. (bummer!) Haven't been quite as diligent with food, so my weight has pretty much stayed the same. But maintaining is still OK, lol. Trying to eat more healthily & hopefully then the weight will come off. We are trying to get pumpkins going again this year (guess we never learn, lol), but DH says this is definitely the last year. Yup, that's what we said last year, too, lol. Have green beans, zucchini, & tomatoes growing here, but nothing from them yet.
Hope everyone has a good week & I will try to be a little more chatty.0 -
@teresaw1020 Woohoo on the weight loss. That's why we're here. That along with a healthy body. I thought that cake thing was a good visual. I always tell myself I'll start tomorrow and then think of it later as I just had one day off plan but it could be worth a couple of days if I ate like that. lol
@trooworld That's great that you planned ahead and ate a light meal in preparation for a heavier meal.
@retiredandlovingit We missed you. Well how about shooting for 1/2 lb a week loss. What one little thing could you do to cut off 50 or 100 calories a day? I could keep the frosting and give up the cake. lol We are doing a little construction project outside so he's busy with that but he's also more stressed so I get all the blowback. Yaaay me. I'm adjusting. I guess thank God for covid cause it gave me a 6 month pre-trial. All the times I say I want grandkids, I hear my mom saying, Be careful what you wish for. lol My kids used to fight with the cousins at times. I would leave and take my kids somewhere when I knew my sil was coming over to my mil's house just to avoid trouble at times. I'm glad they are vaccinating the teens. At least you keep trying with the garden. Healthy food at home.

@trooworld You say oh well and get right back to it. Which I know you will. Overall, you are really doing well. I gained 2.2 lbs this week. I had too many days of going over my boundaries and did 4 days of exercise.

@RetiredAndLovingIt It’s so nice to hear from you! My friend did the elimination diet so I know how hard and tiring it can be. Especially when it doesn’t seem to be working for you. Hey, maybe this will be the best pumpkin year ever!Maintaining your weight can be a very good thing and when you are ready to really buckle down your body will be ready to drop more weight.
@trooworld With the way you and your husband love to cook and eat you need to really pat yourself on the back for the fact that you are consistently losing weight. I don’t think I would be so good! 😉 Although I do love to cook so my pancakes and sausage turn into chaffles with sugar-free syrup and turkey sausage. And the hamburger would be without the bun because thankfully my DH doesn’t know who to make such wonders as homemade buns!
Hello everyone! I somehow thought my hair appointment was today but it’s tomorrow, so I did the grocery shopping, went to Sams, and then washed the dog. It’s been 16 days since I started the DDF challenge and so far I’m really liking it. Yesterday, I splurged with DH and had some beers and dark chocolate for Father’s Day, and today I just had a small lunch and waited for my trigger to tell me that I could have dinner. I started the challenge with my blood glucose trigger at 85 and now it’s at 81. It will continue to move down and that is good. I’ve been testing before meals and usually, it’s between 80 and 70. Today it was 67 which tells me that my body was ready for some fuel and boy did I give it some! I made a super yummy meatloaf, mashed cauliflower, and sauteed and now I am so full!

@teresaw1020 I've never had a chaffle. I'll have to try it. I might work it into my weekly breakfast rotation. Yaaay on lowering your trigger. What happens if you go too low? I mean I know hypoglycemia in a diabetic but does same thing happen for non-diabetics? What would they consider too low?
@trooworld Good for you for no snacks at the cafe. So lesson learned is you let yourself get too hungry before lunch. Plus the cheese dip and pretzel thins. What's a good way to make it a smaller portion and enjoy it? Yes, alot of it is sodium bloat.
Having my son around seems to be a trigger for sweets. So more focus is needed. I have 2 red days coming up. That should help.

@trooworld, I am sure the weight gain from the pretzels and cheese dip is water weight. That combo of refined carbs and high fat is usually so loaded with sodium that your body is going to retain water. Drink a bunch of water and it will flush out of your system.
@theslightedgeforever I am not really sure what is too low for my BG. It seems that Dr. Google doesn't want me to go lower than 70. This morning it dropped to 80. I know that if I hit maintenance mode on the app the trigger will go up a little and hold there. They actually recommend that I do that between challenges to give my body a rest from the trigger going lower and lower. And once I get to my goal then I will just do my best to maintain. I still have a ways to go before I need to figure all that out.You should make some chaffles! I make them sweet and savory and mixing a pack of Starkist Tuna Creations is my new favorite lunch!
Hello! I got my hair done today and it's now a little shorter and browner with caramel highlights. I love it! I was happy my stylist could see me because she is in the 38 weeks of her pregnacy. Poor thing is about to pop! I had fun giving her some sweet gifts that she didn't expect. I LOVE buying baby things! Not much else going on today. I ordered this cute silver cheval mirror for our bedroom and that came today, so DH and I put it together and now the dog is locked in her crate because she won't stop barking at it.

@teresaw1020 I just meant from a symptom standpoint. dizziness, shaky, etc. How long are these challenges for? Then how long do you have a break? It's probably a good idea to go up a bit and then back down. I think that's what I like about my carb cycling. I tried to make a chaffle today. Heated up the waffle iron and after 30 seconds, the light went out never to come on again. So I had to make it in a small skillet which made me think I'm really going to be having a cheese omelet with syrup on it. lol It was good though. Do you make yours in a regular size waffle iron or a mini one. I didn't even know they had mini waffle irons. I've had this one about 20 years. Time for a new one. I'm still trying to figure out what style to give my hair. We are still in the covid grow out stage. I don't like short hair on me. Ha on the dog and mirror.
@trooworld I think company and sweets go together. You would think I am inhabited by a '50s housewife spirit or something. I just call it being a good hostess. In the same way, I would not like to go to someone's house and there sits a bowl of carrot sticks. I can eat that at home. lol I suppose a good change in thinking is in order but.....if I know I'm going somewhere, I do plan ahead and fit it in. If not, I usually eat half a serving.
I need to figure out my exercise plan. Get fired up for exercise. Water too. It's always been water.

@trooworld Well your stomach isn't the best place for the cheese dip but at least it's gone!
I started buying bags of lemons at Aldi's and squeeze half of one a day in a big glass of ice water.
@theslightedgeforever The challenges go for 30 days and then there are about two weeks or so before the next one starts. I will probably go into maintenance mode on the app and then start back again when the new challenge starts. I use this waffle maker Dash Mini. Wait for it to go on sale for $9.99 which it does all the time. I also have the Dash Mini Four which is good for batch Chaffles or for breakfast for dinner night. When I make them sweet I will add a little vanilla extract and a couple of TBS of almond or coconut flour.
Hello! Well, my eyeglasses, which had this messed up arm due to a bad screw finally broke, so I had to dig out my old pair and go buy some a new pair. I went to the where I got my eye exam and contacts but the cheapest frames they had started at $200!I ended up at Sams and got frames and lenses for under $250. I'm still waiting for my contacts to come in so I'm being careful with the one set I have that is on their last leg. Tonight is VBS final setup before the big event that starts this Sunday. I'm excited and hope I get a good group of kids. Trigger went down to 79 this morning and I didn't eat until after 2 pm when it said 83. One of those days!

@teresaw1020 At least this meal plan you are doing is teaching you patience. I've heard lemon in water is good for you but I really don't like the taste of lemon unless it's a big glass of sweetened lemonade with mint. I have the best recipe for that. Thanks for the info on the waffle maker. Glasses are so expensive these days I think. Which is why I don't change mine too often. Although I'm usually out of style, but just wait and those big glasses come back in style.
@trooworld If I didn't exercise I would have to eat less and drop my calories which I don't want to do. But I need it to stay mobile and not stiff and to be able to hike and not be the slowest one. lol I need to start making my moonshine again now that it's summer. I write it on my list but it just doesn't seem to get done. I count that towards hydration. I've also found that sipping water through a straw makes me drink it faster. Problem is I just don't "think" about drinking water. Buying new water bottles didn't help; having an app on the phone to remind myself didn't help. I killed all the plants on that one app. lol OK, so now you know the problem of having 3 days a week to figure out a plan to stay on track. What will be your solution? Looking backwards now from a distance, what made you eat more while working? I hope you get to stay home on Thurs and Fri.
I woke up and did a nice YouTube video this morning.

@trooworld Yeah, since I just spend a fortune on new contacts I didn’t want to spend that much on the glasses. Plus, I’m just a plain black frame kind of girl.
That is a bummer that you have to go back to work when obviously you have been doing great working from home. Hopefully, they will give you the days you want.
@theslightedgeforever They do say patience is a virtue, right?
@renaegry Hi and welcome back! I will get you onto my team over at Fit2Fat. We will be happy to have you!
Hello all! I am tired and my body is so sore. Last night, I somehow got the job of going up and down a ladder hanging like a hundred paper vines to the ceiling for VBS. My weight was up 2 lbs and I know it’s water weight from the workout I did and then the ladder workout. Whatever! After the staff meeting today, I started cleaning our Fellowship Hall. The place was such a mess and took me forever to get it presentable for Sunday. I still have to go do the main building tomorrow. Then I will go to Sams and Walmart for all the food and supplies we will need for VBS. Each night the kids have a different snack that goes with the lesson of the night. It’s crunch time this weekend and on top of it all, I’m teaching children’s church this week too. At least I got my lesson pretty much done and ready to go.

Morning all, I am so sorry I have been MIA...my DH is home now and I am trying to get back to a different normal routine. He was gone 4 weeks..LOL. I am trying to track my sugar and my fats, along with calories. Its funny how you start looking at labels and going...NOPE not worth it..Like I haven't ordered PB in such a long time. I probably eat it only 1 time a week now. I am not going to try to play catch up, but will respond to a couple of things I did read LOL. Oh yea, I went for 2 quick bike rides yesterday...it's been so hot, and then it rained, so hopefully now I can go out again..since DH is home and can help with baby girl.
@trooworld I am so excited for you and your art...and I too hope you get what you want with going back to work.
@TeresaW1020 I am plain glasses too, however I did have a leopard look a couple of years ago..LOL
@theslightedgeforever Moonshine uh...love your terminology. Yes I used to exercise so I could eat and then I just ate....now trying to get back to exercising..
@renaegry Glad to see you and hear you are doing well!!!

@renaegry We missed you. WW seems to suit you. I'm glad you found a program that works for you.
@teresaw1020 I'm bloated today too. So I'm going to be working on the water for the next two days. I'm still working on the virtue part.
@trooworld Sounds like you have a good plan for those 3 days. So keep talking to yourself when you are tempted with something that is not on your plan. Draw the hard line. Do you have some sort of visual imagery you can use at work for a "hard line" Like a stick or something. Maybe even paint CHANGE HAPPENS on it. Oh my, I'm so excited for you for being recognized. What a great honor. Now you have two more chances.
@cbabie You did great getting in some bike rides and taking time for yourself. Woohoo on reading the labels and PB reduction.

@trooworld Congratulations on two of your paintings getting accepted. That is so exciting! I want to see pics!
I sure hope that HOA of yours will get off their butts and take care of your windows. That has gone on long enough.
@cbabie I agree that tracking can help with saying no to certain foods that clearly don’t fit into your macros. I have been a little wild in the past with tortoise shell-colored frames.
@theslightedgeforever Granny is a woman after my own heart! I think that is a corncob in her jug, so you will need that too.
Hello all! I’m so glad that tomorrow is Saturday and I have nothing planned. I cleaned the rest of the church and then DH and I went to Sams and Walmart to buy over $300 of food and supplies for the four days of VBS. On the final day, we do a family night and will order pizza. But I’m sure that I will be going back to the store before the week is over for more stuff. Especially water since both our water fountains are broken. I’m splurging tonight and making spaghetti and meatballs with French bread for dinner. DH has been craving it and I decided that I could take the hit as long as I get right back to it tomorrow.

@teresaw1020 Good for you for planning ahead and not just impulse eating.
@trooworld Sorry about the weight. Fingers crossed just some sodium bloat. Maybe a Stop sign will help. Just a matter of trying it out.
I just realized I think I have a jug like that. I'll have to check although the bottom half is zebra stripes. It was in my safari room once upon a time. I'm a little better with my water today.

@trooworld Sorry that you are up, but that could be water and either way, you will get it back off. So glad HOA took their responsibility!! I just ride in the neighborhood right now, especially when I have the baby girl with me
@TeresaW1020 I so remember getting ready for VBS when I was Children's Pastor..we had such a great time..That was 3 years ago. Yum my family loves spaghetti...

@trooworld Yikes, that is so scary what happened with the homeless man! You really can’t be too careful these days. Do you have some pepper spray? Buy some to keep in your car. My DH bought me one several years ago. I probably should replace it with something fresher. I’m glad that you were able to relax with your hubby.
@cbabie Wow taking 6” off your hair is a lot. Do you love it? I hope so! Mmmm watermelon!!
@theslightedgeforever A safari room. You are so exotic!
Hello! It’s a kid kind of day. I taught children’s church this morning and in a couple of hours, I will be back for our first night of VBS. I’m excited and hoping for a really fun time and a good group of kids. I called my sister to wish her well on her double knee surgery that is scheduled for tomorrow. She is hopeful and anxious for it to be over and to be pain-free. My niece’s oldest son’s father just moved in to help out. He has been a part of the family since he was a kid. My sister told me how mom hasn’t been that much of a help and that I can expect to go pick her up in the next couple of weeks. I’m bummed but not surprised that my summer of bliss is about to end. OK, I need to go get some dinner in me!

Afternoon all, I went to church today, came home and I had myself some PB...it was nice for a change, but I will say I don't think it was worth all the fat grams.. Went for a bike ride, got in the pool and played hard with baby girl for 20 min...got out, did laundry, cooking corn on the cob and REAL mashed potatoes and air fried chicken. Sounds like a home cooked Sunday dinner as I typed it..LOL. Working on puzzles, going with the theme that has a red pick up truck..50's year look in all the puzzles..it's been fun.
@trooworld So sorry to hear about the homeless man...that is scary. Not sure what I would have done. We have so many here in AZ...it's heartbreaking and most the time I sit and SMH.
@theslightedgeforever LOL Safari room...Mom would have had one if Dad would have let her. LOL. Yea on the walking and water. (no I don't wear a helmet). I for the first time this year wear a baseball cap to walk in...never liked things on my head.
@TeresaW1020 So excited for you with VBS and also sorry your mom is coming home, but she probably misses her home (room) too. LOL. I do love my hair, it's thick like I like it and it has a blunt cut I can just wash and go if I really wanted to.

Morning all. Back from a weekend at my dads. Was my step moms 50th bday. Partied till 5am on Saturday. Bad bad weekend. lol. Today back on track. Will get a run in this morning before it gets to hot. Last day of school for the kiddos. Grade 7 and 10 in the books. Goal for summer is to maintain and not gain. Drink my water. Stay active and don’t go to crazy in the hot summer weather st the lake.0
-
@teresaw1020 How is your fasting thing going? Summer of bliss. All good things must come to an end. Enjoy while you can. Praying your sister's surgery is a success.
@cbabie Yaaay on burning some calories in the pool. Red truck, interesting... Your Sunday dinner did sound good.
@trooworld Hopefully now that you will be going every week to WW you can find some buddies there. Would you start the conversation? You made big strides during your social outings. Good for you.
@renaegry I remember as a child summers at the lake. So it sounds like you have a plan for summer. What is your most fun way to stay active?
yeah, forgot to tell you about my safari room. The room was painted a camel color with a black accent wall but had two wide ivory stripes down the side. Then I had black/gold thick rope hanging down where the two colors met to hide that. In the middle was a huge round zebra clock. I had a big zebra rug. Lamps that had metal elephants on them. Lots of elephant decor around the room. I had a stuffed tiger in one corner. I still have half of the stuff. Some of it is just in different rooms now. I looked up and there is one of the end tables. I don't throw away any thing it seems until it is truly unusable or I'm just real tired of it. I keep repurposing things. lol I had so much fun with that room.

Morning all, Well I gained 1 lb, but that isn't surprising because I ate PB and ice cream....LOL Started this week out with a walk on the treadmill. Trying to push for more exercise this week.
@theslightedgeforever I still have my glass bowls from 1975, that were given to me as a wedding present. Green and Gold Corell.... I just couldn't throw them out....never bought others either..we use them almost every day for veggies or mashed potatoes. LOL
@trooworld I will have PB, I won't totally give that up, but I had it yesterday and it really wasn't worth the fat grams...LOL

@cbabie I’m glad that you like your hairdo. I’m so jealous that you have a pool. I would be in it all the time! Your Sunday dinner sounds wonderful. DH has been wanting corn on the cob so I’m going to make it for him on the 4th.
@renaegry Sounds like one heck of a b-day party!Have a great summer and just try to be mindful of the bigger picture that you are wanting for yourself.
@trooworld Yeah, I keep my pepper spray in the little cubby between my car seats. I’m sure you have something like that, right? Look at you making good choices and putting your foot down!I hope you have an awesome time with your brother and his family.
@theslightedgeforever The data driven fasting is going. Not as well as I wanted when I first started but I’m not giving up. I did do a reset on my trigger because it was dropping a point a day and I just couldn’t hit it. So, I did a reset to 84 and it will start again from there. That room sounds like so much fun! How long did you have it that way before you got tired of it? I love zebra print!
Hello! So, my first night of VBS was fun. I have 5 kids ranging from 5 to 7 years old. I’m partnered with another crew that has four kids that are the same ages. My only downside was that I had the VBS theme song stuck in my head all night and probably will for the next four days!DH and I went to Kohls to look for some new pants for us both. He was trying on jeans but I wasn’t liking the fit. I looked at the men’s clearance and there were three pairs of Levi’s in his size for $10 a piece that looks great on him. I also bought a pair of army-colored Bermuda-length shorts that I actually plan to wear in public!! I’ve never done such a thing since being an adult. I do admit that with all my working out, I have good-looking calves.
I also got a pair of Vera Wang light grey crop jeans for $17 and two cute T-shirts from the clearance racks for $6 each. So, we scored some good stuff and didn’t even spend that much money!

Morning,
I haven't went for a walk or bike ride yet. It's supposed to rain today..we will see if it rains or just spits..LOL. Probably just going to be humid. I just need to keep moving. (Sometimes I get a good workout with baby girl chasing me...saying I'm going to catch you...LOL)
@trooworld So glad you are getting to see family. I was supposed to see my nephew, but he got sick the night before so it will be next year.. I really am old and don't like to be around annoying people, it's like just zip your lip already.LOL
@TeresaW1020 Good for you, I actually wore short shorts to the grocery store the other day..I was hot, tired and said to myself I won't see anyone I know...and I didn't LOL. Great job on the score at Kohls...yes those songs stick in our head. I have been humming sing, sing, sing...(we sang it on Sunday). LOL

Morning all, I didn't do well at all yesterday. Ate my emotions. I went to bed last night thinking I give up...but here I am again trying. Went for a short bike ride last night, baby girl was so tired, she went right to bed. She has fun on the ride...sitting in her little chariot, eating her snacks and drinking her water...what a life. LOL
@trooworld I have never heard of 100 hour brownie and probably glad I don't know as I would make them and eat them. LOL. Yes I was raised when someone is speaking, be QUIET and give them respect enough to listen. That just seems like it's not taught or followed anymore. Have fun at the beach!!!
@theslightedgeforever Sorry you lost your post, but glad you gave us a short version..LOL. Good job on parking farther.
Cbabie0 -
@trooworld Hooray for your walking. Lighting those calories on fire. Those ladies would bother me too. I hope I don't have plantar fasciitis either. I go tomorrow to the PT so I'm going to see what kind of exercises she suggests to help. I swear I get one body part pain free and then another one pops up. Whack-a-mole!
@cbabie So today is a new day. Remember we talked about the thoughts in our head before we eat something that is not good for us. Write those down. Then practice a response to those. Then do it again and repeat for as long as it takes. It's really just a skill. You are stronger than your emotions. What other things could you do? You only have to get away from the kitchen for a short time and then find a distraction. Talk back to that voice in your head.
Say NO CHOICE. I will not give in. Maybe think of that voice like a demon. Give it a face. Talk back to it. It won't be long and she can get a bike too. I would eat all the brownies before the 100 hrs is up.Although I have been really good on this subject lately. I can make them and just have one. I plan it first and then cut it up into two. So I can go back for seconds. My mind doesn't know the difference. I eat it slowly and savor it. If people talk while in a meeting or something they might get dragged out and switched.
Nothing is like it used to be. People don't even dress up anymore. Although you know I would be the one in the meeting saying, Excuse me to the leader; Can you repeat that I couldn't hear what you said. They were talking loudly and then motion towards their direction.
Course I wouldn't win any friends that way but I'm not there to win friends and I bet there are others in the room that don't like their loudness either.
