I'm eating a lot more fruit. It's very exciting to rediscover fruit and enjoy it. It would be nice if I could do this with vegetables, but given the tantrum my gut threw last week when I had too much spinach (AKA, more than 2 tablespoons) I had better let that alone.
This week I have black cherries and strawberries and blueberries and nectarines!
I am really feeling better about decluttering and doing a lot of keeping up with things, so that five minutes in the evening means that I get up to a clean house, and ten minutes in the kitchen in the evening gives me a clean kitchen. I LIKE this. I just have more energy on a reliable basis to handle things, and it really helps.
I'm not looking forward to this weekend very much because all of us have anxiety and PTSD, and loud bangs and pops at random intervals don't help very much. Also TOM is here, and this time I haven't had so much pain or obvious water retention (There's some, as I'm up two pounds overnight) as I've had emotional swings. I've had at least two episodes where I wanted to break down in tears because Everything Is Wrong (dramatic sobs) and that is so VERY much not me. Both times I put myself to bed for a nap and managed not to get in fights with my partners, but it's not fun at all. But we'll get through all this, and by the time I weigh again on the 7th, I'm looking forward to the water having released and my scale behaving itself again.

Hello and Thank you for this thread.
I have been up and down for years. I am back to the only thing that has helped me loose weight, MFP
Time to get to a better number on the scale (medical issues)
My goal this the weekend is to feel proud Monday of my choices over the holiday4 -
Anyone have any plans for this weekend? Are you doing anything fun with family and/or friends? Have you worked out how to navigate the food situation at any gathering(s) you'll be attending? Do you have your white-noise machine and blankets ready to make an Anti-Fireworks-Noises Fortress of Solitude in the living room with your dogs? Do you have a bombass recipe for a light summer party dessert that the world needs to know about???
This goes for our non-US sisters, too - even if it's not a holiday where you are, you might still have fun summer weekend plans, that was always allowed3 -
No plans for parties. I am just hoping that the barrage will be on when it's on and silent when it's not, instead of a lot of trailing BOOM and HISS! into the wee hours of the night.2

@goal06082021 We are headed to the mountains this weekend and I meal prep all our food for the stay. I made some Brownies with raspberries for a get together. They are always a big hit.
Brownies work out great for me because they are easy to make, I don't like brownies, and can't eat gluten... its a win, win!5 -

Goal for July 195
This may seem strange but feel the need to write this.
Dear 200 pounds,
On the eve of saying goodbye to you I wanted to say thank you. From the time I was 10 years old I turned to you as food to comfort me. When I felt sad, or lonely or hurt I turned to you. You were always there and for that I say thank you. As a teenager when I felt out of place, not as popular as other people or got bullied you were always there. For that I say thank you. As a young woman, and a new mother myself, especially parenting alone when I felt overwhelmed or inadequate or lacked in confidence you again were there. Up until this year , even though so many good things have happened to me ,you have still been the thing that has been my default, my safety, my go to when I was sad, or insecure or angry.Like that old housecoat that should have long since been discarded.
I recognize that at a time when I felt unable or did not have the strength to do things differently you were there. I've made some different choices now and I feel so good . When I dont turn to you I am free to give my attention to things that bring me happiness and joy. I can still feel sad and uncertain sometimes but I now trust that its ok to sit in those feelings and explore why. So now food is just food,I am developing a different relationship with it.
So thank you 200's. You have been my constant companion for over 35 years but I don't need you anymore.

My goals for the month are to lose 3.5 lbs, meet my step challenge 4 days out of the week, and increase my exercise. I bought a kettlebell and medicine ball and need to use them more. Hope everyone has a great month! We can do this! 💪👍3 -

No big plans for us this weekend, except to hang out with our senior pup. She was just diagnosed with being in heart failure AND last week she an eye ulcer removed. She's wearing the cone of shame and is miserable and anxious with the fireworks. It's too hot for her to be outside for more than a few minutes at a time so it will be a long weekend at home but she is worth every single sacrifice and more.
We did go berry picking this morning, and got some fresh peaches too! My husband is going to make a peach upside-down cake. I've already pre-logged a big slice with vanilla ice cream in my food diary and I'll enjoy every bite! We also got some perfect tomatoes and for lunch I had a juicy stand-over-the-kitchen-sink tomato and mayo sandwich. Heaven!
P.S. Isn't it SO GREAT to be able to make plans with friends and family again?? This year feels so different from 2020.5 -

@RavenStCloud Thank you for the thread!!!
@wanderinglight Not letting setbacks discourage you is very inspiring and a win in of itself. Keep up the great work. As for the pool, I am not sure if you have a membership or can get one for either LA Fitness or 24hr Fitness, they have nice pools and the pools (as well as sauna/hot tubs) are open pretty much 24/7 I think.
@VickyEltonGreen Awesome message!! Thank you for the insight and wise words!! P.S. Love the letter!!
@OnceAndFutureAthlete Great work making your goal.
@holdthefries Great to have you back.
@sarah12277 Have a great trip to the Adirondacks!!

@AlexandraFindsHerself1971 I love self care!!! Success with advocating for yourself with the doctor!!
@jennipooh82 Welcome!!
@DaniMerc72 I totally feel you. I turn 40 next year and I am determined not to be Obese (I am no longer morbidly obese, Thank God). Awesome goals!!
@kelMee2 With it being so hot outside, have you considered trying some walking workout videos (YouTube has a lot) that you can do indoors? Enjoy your weekend trip!!
@azalea4175 Awesome news about the pool. Enjoy!!!
@LisaLethal Welcome!!
@ADK218 Welcome!! This group is non-judgmental. Feel free to post weights, NSVs or just feelings/vents when you can/want to. The group is very supportive.
@jessicastanfill Awesome goal.
@girlinkaz Yay for the loss (that water weight will drop off soon); sorry for the new lockdown. It is good to know yourself and have both the daily minimum and maximum. Yay for squat challenge. I am doing one with my sisters and a couple of cousins (starts with 20 squats on day 1 and ends with 150 squats on day 30). Congrats on the new clothes (from the closet 😉 - I absolutely love finding my old clothes, wearing them and having people thinking I am going shopping every week)!! 😁
@stortina Congrats on the whoosh and getting to Onderland!!
@CariTJR Congrats on the loss. I feel you on missing the June goal; I missed mine and then passed it this morning so had to re-adjust my July goal). Awww!!! Sorry about the "mess", but, how exciting is it to be moving to a new house in a new town!!!! Congrats in advance on the move!!!
@goal06082021 I already enjoyed my mini vacay - last minute trip to Atlanta to spend time with my friend. Enjoyed a lot of healthy smoothies at her new smoothie shop and since she and her hubby have always supported me, they made everything very healthy. The rest of my weekend will include studying with breaks for self care (a massage and a facial are being planned)!
@Spotteddingo Awesome job with the brownies. Can I get the recipe?
@57pattycake A loss is a loss!! Congrats!!
Note: Forgot to add this to my earlier post....
Even though I did not lose too much weight in June, I measured today and I went down ~1in in each thigh (0.8in from rt and 1.2in from left) and 1in from my hips is gone as well!!!! 💃🏾💃🏾💃🏾💃🏾 @Spotteddindo Thanks again for the encouragement!!9 -
I weighed daily and report my Friday weights
Starting weight 5/11 224.9
7/2 213.
Monthly goal 208
This month I am back in the office 50% of the time. I have been using a standing desk at home but hopefully everything being farther away and more walking will result in some balance
I am in a routine of going to the gym 2x a week and rowing for 30min. I really need to bump that up to 3 or 4

@wanderinglight ohh, that cake sounds DELICIOUS, I hope you enjoy every single bite. My MIL asked me to bring over a dessert tomorrow, I'm making a trifle with angel food cake, pineapple, maraschino cherries, and Cool Whip - I got the lower-fat Cool Whip just to make it a *tiny* bit lighter. At least there's fiber in the fruit, I guess...
@uyister nice! Enjoy that massage and facial!3 -

MFP
Hello, new here to this thread. I’ve been on mfp for YEARS and have ridden the wagon, fell off, abandoned, forgotten and jumped back on… I’m back here in combination with a another program. 5 weeks strong and a good amount of weight loss, so I’m excited to keep it up with accountability.
Feel free to friend me, I can use all the accountability that I can get!
Im working hard with my husband to get in better health together.
I normally weigh in daily so it will be a nice change to see a slightly larger number here for loss.

I’ve been going on daily walks after work to preserve my sanity as we are back in lockdown again. Last night, as I was walking down the path, I put my hands on my hips and realized that my palms curved significantly inward around both of my sides because I HAVE A WAIST NOW. Previously when I put my hands on my hips, they had to be splayed almost flat to get around my stomach. 🤯8

2nd GW: Onderland 1st, maintain for a few weeks then
3rd GW: 186 overweight but not obese
4th GW: 150 lbs. Healthy weight Then evaluate what weight is best for me. I just want to get to a healthy weight for me.
Goals:
Get 8+ glasses of water, log in calories daily, get enough sleep and stay under my calorie goal.
Up N.E.A.T.
Get regular exercise:- 1-2 strength training a week
- 5 days of walking
Up my vegetables and make sure I have fruit daily
I have logged in enough to keep my log in days but haven't really log every meal this week until this weekend. It is only going to get busier. I have jury duty starting tomorrow but may not be selected. We will start going into the office 1 day a week. I finally planned some meals for the week and went to get groceries for the week. My youngest is doing one each week.
The end of the last month my son and daughter-in-law was in town, we had record high temperatures last week, our electricity was shut off for an hour on the hottest night ever in Seattle for us. We do not have AC and since our cats are indoor we had to construct cat proofing for all our doors and windows so we could open them up and cool off. We now have a make shift catio off our bedroom so we can safely open our windows. I went into the office last week to set it up for going back soon. It would have been for tomorrow if it wasn't for possible jury selection. So I have been fortunate just to keep my weight down. My July goal is doable but it is going to be hard to concentrate with all that is going on now. I have some medical issues to deal with and my Mom needs more help. My project I am lead on is supposed to be submitted soon. I will probably be working more than 40 hours a week.
This week I want to get back to my exercise schedule while the temperatures are lower. What I have been better at lately is drinking more water. I drink between 8-10 glasses most days. I just want to keep meal planning and cooking at home 6 days a week. I took out one goal from last month to keep from being overwhelmed.
I need to think about breakfasts on my in-person days so I am ready for next week and yeah there are lunches to consider on those days too. I can't just walk into my kitchen and eat some leftovers on those days. Warning I may not be posting on here as much this month but I am not giving up the fight.4 -
Just can't get myself together for a good post, so I'll go short. Hi all, you are awesome!

GW for July: Anything less than current!
I go through fits and spurts of being committed to myself and my goals.
I'm tired of the on/off relationship. MFP member since 2012 ... I think my lowest recorded weight was 168, highest 225 (@ 9 months pregnant). I've set goals and reached them before, I just need to refocus and find a way to somehow make healthy habits consistently.
Consistency is such a huge hurdle for me.
Goals:
- 8k daily step count, minimum
- Workout 4-5 days/week
- dial in my nutrition
Happy to have found this thread!7 -
Now that the holiday is over, I am going to work on getting back on a good sleep schedule. I got up at 8 today and that's much later than I like to get up. Especially in hot weather; I like getting up and getting stuff done in the cool of the morning before everything heats up! Plus not getting enough sleep messes with weight loss. So that's the next thing to focus on.
And I can hope that everyone with the big house-shaking shells have already shot the blasted things off and won't be disturbing my sleep and spiking my anxiety. (grumble)
I'm really excited: Girlfriend has decided to work on losing weight too. She is now trying to figure out how she's supposed to eat 2500 calories a day. (I understand; that sounds ridiculously huge!)3 -
Last week before vacation. Doing yardwork to hope it's done before I go. I did not do much over the weekend.
Food not great. Have to start packing for next week.
DH and I did go to my friend's side of town for fireworks. Big, nice display. Driving back lots of fireworks in the distance in all directions.
My neighborhood had a long display from folks apparently; 8pm - midnight. I put the dog in a thunder shirt before I left to be safe. When a neighbor then started at midnight I turned my bright outside light out to help deter them further (ha not on my watch). Scared me to death being so close. Dog was fine though. Cats a bit rattled. To many large booms; I don't like them.2 -
I had a really enjoyable long holiday weekend. We went to the Folsom rodeo on Friday which is a family tradition for the 4th of July weekend. When we got there we realized we had hospitality tickets that came with the option for a free BBQ dinner and open bar. Thankfully we had eaten a healthy, delicious dinner before we left so the wife, mom and I only indulged in the free water. Little wins! I also enjoyed how much easier the hike out of the rodeo grounds at the end of the night seemed. All of my morning walking is paying off.
Saturday was for cocktails and healthy appetizers by the pool with friends while Sunday and Monday were spent cooking/baking delicious foods for the week ahead. My wife smoked some chicken and made pickles with some cucumber we grew and I made brunswick stew and fresh sourdough.
Overall I was so happy to see us stick to our goals while enjoying our time out and about with family and friends.6 -
