I've lost quite a bit of water, and my fingers feel normal now again. I've started working out again, so I will probably see that reflected in the weight. I'm having a lot of upper back pain related to my breast size (which has stubbornly refused to deflate with the rest of me) and I'm hoping strengthening the muscles there will help with it. I hate going to bed sore.
I have to say that it's easy not to eat too much when it's this hot and sticky. I don't want to do ANYTHING.
Today is the day I tidy the pantry and the big freezer (things get shifted around sometimes when I need to put a cookie sheet full of something in there to freeze separately) and the fridge. Once a month this tidy is an actual "pull it all out and wipe it out" but the rest of the time it's just a rearrangement, hefting containers of mustard to see how full they are and whether that needs added to the shopping list, and generally making as much room as I can for raw ingredients when I get them tomorrow.
I also need to make a quichecake (pizza: tomato paste, diced pepperoni, turkey Italian sausage, peppers, onions, mushrooms, Italian seasoning) for backup; we just started the lamb gyro quichecake, and I always like to have one in the freezer.

Garmin fixed my steps from when my vivofit got damaged and had to be replaced. They added those 4 days back in and so my full goals met is back to what it is supposed to be!! 😁😀 I'm on my way to getting 240 days! I probably shouldn't be this excited, but I am! 😏

Back from vacation with family and friends. Just glad I didn't gain! We tried several local restaurants and dessert shops. I realized quickly that I could only eat half of the portions I use to be able to eat. I also was satisfied splitting a dessert instead of getting my own. A friend tracked how far we had walked sight-seeing/visiting attractions and by the end of the day we were all at 6 miles of walking around! That's a new record and my body and legs ached for 2 days after showing me just how out of shape I am. My NSV is growth in body and portion awareness. I was able to make better choices and stop eating after feeling slightly full instead of eating everything in front of me and hurting afterwards.6 -

Hello welcome all the new people.
Congratulations on the engagement @ZeldaHearts.
There is a song I love about this man who walks around the outside of a monastery and as he looks inside at all the monks he thinks they must be so wise and strong. So he asks this question to a man he sees walking inside. "What is the key to your success?" He is told," we fall down and we get up, we fall down and we get us and the strength is in the getting up"( my interpretation)
So interesting we are all on this journey, some days are so amazing and smooth sailing, other days with side trips and sometimes getting a little off track and need to reset and get help from our GPS.
Where ever you are today, it is amazing that you have put yourself on the agenda.

The base is six eggs and a block of softened cream cheese beaten up together. That makes a pie plate. (If your pie plate is small, I'd do 5 eggs instead of 6.) You can double that for a 9 x 13 pan.
So this iteration has chopped pepperoni and turkey Italian sausage, grilled peppers and onions, tomato paste worked into the batter (so it's red instead of pale yellow) and Italian seasoning. Thought I'd change my weigh in day to Thursday this month since the 1st was a Thursday. Not much progress to report my weight has virtually been the same for about 3 weeks now, I'm staying within my calories and burning calories but not getting the results I'm aiming for. After feeling semi human for 2 days time of the month returned again so that's a month now with only a 2 day break from it, starting to get frustrated and starting to think it's never going to end, I also think it's the reason my weight isn't shifting cause I was doing fine till all this started. As usual I'll keep pushing on cause I'm stubborn and determined and I refuse to accept defeat.

I took a bit of a break over the weekend. Saturday and Sunday were the first days I didn't track my food since I started back here at MFP a few months back. But it was OK, I think I needed it, and I basically planned to do that and am back on track. And the week's loss show it.
Lessons learned:
It's OK to take a break - especially if it's planned.
A break doesn't have to mean go crazy. I can enjoy a family get-together, and not have to think about every bite. But new habits and not wanting to undo all my hard work can keep me from a total blow-out.
In fact, I found when I went back to eating (almost) like I had in the past @ holidays, I actually felt like CRAP: stomach ache, sleepy, joints hurt the next day (inflamation). I made a point to stop and note those (bad) feelings to call on in the future as a deterent.
@JuneyCleaves Love your lunch. EBTB is the BOMB. I've been having sliced tomato and cuke almost every lunch with EBTB on it. Really satisfying. But this looks so good, I'm going to try it.
Everyone else: WTG, even if for just checking in and being accountable - you know that's a win on its own. And all your honestly and successes are really keeping me going. Thank you!6 -

At Mom's house this morning. Power went out at my house twice yesterday. I had gone to the gym once it went the first time and by the time I got back it went out again. Back to mom's house with the dog it was. Before it got dark I got the bunch of weeds out of my yard surrounding a tree. The thistle was as tall as me. Hope my neighbors are shouting their obscenities at me for getting so high.
Had a car visit on Tues only to need to go back either today or tomorrow. Being at Mom's house might help if it's today.
Yesterday would have been my brother's 46 birthday. I'm blaming him for the power outage to make me go back to mom's house. HA. Since DH didn't want to go out to our usual restaurant I picked up a favorite fast food of my brothers. I'm testing out tomatoes so allowed myself the few items. Went to the gym with the first outage as they DH's work is close and they had power before he left. Storm hit while I was there so did a longer treadmill time instead of a short elliptical time until it passed.4 -
@goal06082021 Yes unfortunately, it started happening after I got a copper iud fitted last year then in August I was put on the pill to try and regulate things so after a few months things went back to normal until I got my 2nd covid vaccine which I received 3 days after my period stopped then 4 days after my vaccine my period started again which was the 9th of June and since then its only stopped for 2 days then started again. All the Dr wants to offer is norethisterone which seems to be their answer all the time. I think I'm going to have to have my iud removed and hope my body can get back to normal. I should never have had the copper iud in the first place as I was advised against it because I already had heavy periods but the consultant at the hospital insisted it was the best option for me and honestly its been an absolute nightmare, if covid hadn't happened I would of had it removed long ago.7

A little disappointed in this week since I have been sticking to my calorie goals and keeping up with my walks. I think this may just be the stall before I see a big drop. I know that if I just stay the course I will eventually see a change in the scale.5 -
@kelMee2 oh jeez, that sounds terrible! I hope you can find BC that works for you soon. I've had a good experience so far with Nexplanon if your (new) doctor thinks you would do well with that (also yeah find a new doc, you deserve one who will listen to you). That's the one that goes in your arm, if you have that in Aus. I spotted for the first six months, nothing a pantyliner couldn't handle, but after that I've had 0 periods and also 0 babies, and I didn't have any more spotting when I got it replaced; I might have if there had been more than about 2 minutes between removal and insertion, IDK. I hate that it's basically impossible to predict how a given BC method will work for an individual, we could fill libraries with what we don't know about female bodies.
@sandielewis2001 that's usually how it goes for me, minimal/no loss or even a small gain and then a WHOOSH. Trust the process, you're doing great
@sarah12277 Uuuugh, power outages. It sounds like you and your family are OK, which is good, but summer storms are The Worst. Elsa threw some outer bands across the state to where I am over the weekend and the HVAC system at work got damaged, it's smelled mildewy and been humid inside all week. This morning I guess either it was really broken overnight or they turned off the AC to finish fixing whatever the issue was. I made the mistake of wearing a long-sleeve dress to work and have been slowly melting all day, though it's starting to feel cooler so maybe they fixed it now. Glad you were able to get a workout in anyhow, that's dedication! LOL

Anddd there’s the drop! After losing a pound a week for four out of the last five weeks, I dropped almost 3lbs this week! I knew it was coming since I’ve added in more exercise to keep sane in lockdown, but I was feeling impatient to see it. Well, here it is! I know that as I get nearer to goal, the loss will be slower and slower because my body is healthier and healthier, so I am celebrating this week.
This has actually been a great week, food wise. All this time at home has allowed me to experiment more in the kitchen. I made steak and corn on the cob one night, enjoyed some meatballs with pesto served over homemade zucchini noodles another night, and had tacos last night. Everything that I have eaten has been satisfying to my taste buds and within my calories!
My daily walks have been keeping me sane as it’s now been 2 weeks since I’ve spoken to a human being in person. 😬 Covid is pretty bad here so we are tightly locked down. But I’ve been going for 3-5 mile strolls in the evenings, which have been a life saver. Thankfully, right before lockdown I splurged and got an apple watch and I have been LOVING knowing exactly how far I’m going. The heart rate monitor to see how many calories I’m burning has been fun too. I’m not sure if I trust it totally but it’s a nice toy to play with at a time when not much new is going on. 😂
Goals for this week are to hit -50lbs (at 172)! I’m excited because that was my original goal when I first started losing but now that I’m on the journey, I’m determined to make it all the way to a healthy BMI.

Hello everyone, I am a newcomer to this group. I have been reading through many of your posts and I’m feeling so motivated after doing so. I actually feel ready to start again and after doing all the calculations I feel like this is doable for the first time. I struggle with sugar. For now I am eating low carb.
I have been trying to lose weight for 10 years or so. I have lost and gained and lost again…vicious cycle. I have always loved exercise but stopped 7 months ago when my gym closed. I joined a new gym March 1st and my second day I had a severe break in my right wrist which required surgery. The crazy thing is it happened while I was working out with the trainer. My Dr has released me to return to the gym but I feel really nervous and unsure about going back. I want to go back but somehow I haven’t been able to make myself go. Breaking my wrist at the gym was very traumatic. If any of you have any suggestions or ideas that may be helpful please let me know. 😊

I had a similar thing happen to me -- I herniated a disc during a yoga + ballet class at Exhale studio and was in horrific pain and immediately lost feeling in my leg. It was dramatic, scary and awful. I had to literally crawl out of the class and I was so embarrassed because I somehow thought it was my own fault. I ended up having surgery and never got the feeling back in my leg, and I've lived with it ever since. It took me a very long time to let go of the anger toward the instructor for pushing us to do a move that was (in retrospect) quite unsafe. Or maybe it was just really unsafe for me. To be completely honest, I've never been able to get all the way over my fear that it could happen again in the wrong circumstances.
All I can say is that I'm much more aware of my limits, and I will never let a trainer or instructor push me if it doesn't feel right. I had to learn to speak up. I'm 50 and have a much better understanding of what is challenging vs. simply stupid. For a long time I felt like I needed to go back to that class and prove that I could do it again. I had to let go of my ego and move on -- just like I'll never go horseback riding or snowboarding again because of my physical limitations. But there are so many things I CAN do that feel good so...I'll just do those.
I don't know if that helps. All I can say is, you only have this one body. Exercise is not a punishment; it's a celebration of what your body can do. If going to the gym doesn't feel good right now and you're forcing yourself to do it because you feel like you have to get back on the horse, maybe give it more time while you try some new stuff. There may come a time when you're really excited about going, and then you can reassess. As long as you're moving, it's all good!4 -

She had me stepping up and doing a box step onto three of those big mats. It was a really awkward move. I lost my balance and fell backwards onto my right wrist with all of my weight. I think I may have gone into shock. I was in so much pain. I was shaking, dizzy and extremely nauseous. She told me it was her first day working as a trainer.
So I need to get over the anger as well as the anxiety of going back. I think it will be really good for me to go back. They have water aerobics which would be a great way to strengthen my wrist. Thanks for sharing your story. I hope that your health improves.

Definitely be mad at the trainer. Certainly go back but try other things until you're comfortable, or switch trainers if possible. I hate step ups for that exact reason. I let my third trainer know that I'm slow at step ups. I feel shaky and possible to lose balance during so I'll be slow doing them. He didn't do them too much after that. They're supposed to be there to support you and make sure they're doing it safely. Certainly discuss limitations and even through out no more step ups. They seem to be the trainers go tos when they need to be more creative.

@strong_and_healthy4me Sorry for the injury and the experience. I agree with the words of wisdom already posted above. Move at your own pace, listen to your body, workout at home or do the water aerobics for now if that feels more comfortable for you and when you feel ready (heart, body and mind) go back to the gym and try again.

That's what derailed me last time--I injured myself in a class (still don't know how!) and between it hurting to walk, move my arms, even breathe, and a lot of other life stuff at once, I gained it all back. This time I'm wanting to work with a trainer, but I'm afraid to.
I'm having an AMAZING week, scale-wise. Four days running, every time I get on, I've lost! I know it's a whoosh, I know it won't last (and it wouldn't be safe if it did) but I'm loving it. Before I step on the scale I tell myself "it's been amazing, but there's going to be a bounce and it's probably today" and every day I'm still in a whoosh.
Hang in there through those plateaus and stalls, y'all. Stand your ground and work the plan! The whoosh will come!9 -
Well, I come in here feeling blah. I have been a member of MFP since 2007. 14 years. I have been up and down and all around in that time. I am the largest I have ever been. I am bigger than I was when I was 9 months pregnant with 5 kids. What?!
6 years ago I was a thriving mom of 3 and 150lbs after having lost 55lbs in 5 months. I am now a 31 year old mom of 5 and 249.6 lbs. It's humbling to even type that.
I remember asking my husband many times in our relationship "If I ever got over 200lbs would you still love me?" well-- I am here to tell you he wasn't lying when he said yes. haha. I have lost 50 gained 60 lost 60 gained 40 my whole life. I guess here's to attempt 400 at keeping the weight off.

I'm discouraged but keeping my head up and remembering that wonderful advice from someone above, "The strength is in the getting up." I don't know what's going on and why I'm gaining when I'm staying well under calories and exercising consistently but I'm going to keep working the plan.
