Quick check-in. Gained a few pounds over the last two weeks. Lacking motivation/discipline to exercise. Stress eating.
Family Independence Day dinner today - due to work schedules. One last hurrah. Will rededicate myself to my goal beginning tomorrow.

Hi, all! How is everyone enjoying their summer, and how's progress on your goals?
I'm finding myself needing to brush some rust off my coping skills for things like potluck meals and restaurant eating, as there are more of these things happening (at least somewhat safely) with changes in the pandemic situation here.
I've been helping with my rowing club's learn to row classes, plus some other programs to bring the new folks into becoming regular rowers post-class. That's always fun. That's in addition to my own regular summer rowing schedule.
The other day we managed to get our boat stuck on a giant log, probably as long as our 40-foot boat, that had washed downstream in recent storms then lurked just under the surface waiting to snag us. Fortunately, a nice fisherman named Josh (bless him!) came along and helped us extricate ourselves more quickly than we were managing to do by ourselves.
Other than that, it's been pretty hot here, but I'm doing a better job keeping up with outdoor exercise (like the rowing) than outdoor chores. 😉 Funny how "too hot to work outside" seems to happen at a little lower temperature than "too hot to have fun outdoors"!
@alteredsteve175, it's good to keep hearing from you. I can understand a bit of stress eating happening, in circumstances. You'll be back on track, and of course in the big picture, what we do most of the time matters more than what happens occasionally.
I'm also continuing to enjoy seeing new folks pop up on the thread . . . would love to keep hearing from y'all, too.

Out of my house for a couple of days. Walk-in shower installation underway. I hate living in hotels. Missing the dog.
Wife's blood chemistry is near normal. Chemotherapy is working as intended. Now we need some general health improvement. 🤞 Her moods are up and down - the fun never ends.
I did see the mental health counselor at the oncology clinic yesterday. That was actually very helpful. Have a couple of more sessions scheduled with her. Hopefully I can keep myself sane, no matter what else happens.
Weight is creeping up. Lacking discipline to exercise, even when I have time. Meal planning is out the window right now. Need to renew the focus on my goals.

Steve, so glad chemo is working. We are in the middle of heat wave here (106 now) so just trying to stay cool. Cooking is not going to happen so it's microwave for next few days. Hope you all are staying focused and on your way to achieving your goals. Telling myself it's a journey not a race.4

My wife's physical situation is looking up - blood chemistry is improving. The doctor thinks they're on the right track. Now we'll see if her demeanor will improve.
Got my first appointment with the counselor next week. Maybe my demeanor will improve. HAHA! 😁

Seeing everyone's posts make me feel less alone in this journey. I've been feeling defeated the last few months and have become my own worst enemy. I woke through the night knowing that I have to decide if I want to continue to give in to the cravings etc. or put some effort into this. I have bad knees, blood pressure issues and recently developed AFIB, so have been wallowing in a bit of a pity party for myself. I guess this is my long winded way of saying Thank You to all of you who post and make me realize I'm not alone in this journey.6

Yesterday was my first day back on MFT and have managed to cook, eat and record for the last two days and hope to make it a sustainable habit! Lots of weight to lose but am taking it one small step at a time and appreciate all of the postings by others that help keep me motivated.

I have really fallen off the wagon this past couple of weeks. I just seem to get tired of the constant struggle so just need to do as I always say and "suck it up buttercup" and move on. It should be some easier as my husband now needs to drop 12 lbs which is a new thing for him. Thanks for letting me vent. Hope you are all progressing on your journey.4

Hello turn 65 Monday, can't forget if I want to with the barrage of medicare mail last 6 months! I need to lose 20lbs. Was only 10 then covid happened and I comfort ate. Time to lose it! It might be more of a challenge but we can do it!9

Oh, man, yes: The medicare mail! Yikes!
I turned 65 in November, so the volume has tapered off, but I still get things occasionally. Since I'm fortunate to have a good employer-provided medicare supplement plan as a retiress, I didn't need *any* of it, though.
I also had an interesting wrinkle where I switched from regular employee type insurance (even though I was retired, because under 65) to medicare + supplement in November . . . then my former employer switched insurance providers in January. That was 3 different insurance plans over the October to January time period, which included some outpatient surgery, follow-up on the surgery, etc. I was a little anxious about whether that would be a bumpy ride, but happily it went quite smoothly.
Best wishes on your 20 pound loss project: I just finished an intentionally slow re-loss of 10-15 pounds (within the healthy range) over many months, after losing from obese to a healthy weight back in 2015 at age 59-60. It absolutely is doable, IME, even at 65 (and, I assume, beyond).

I hope you don’t mind. I sent you a friend request. My husband has been diabetic for 30 years, and I got diagnosed in February of this year after some…. Medical malpractice is the kindest and shortest way to describe it.
