Allie — I am currently knitting a baby blanket for our son and DIL. They are expecting another little boy this fall. I have knit one for each newborn in the family. Barbie and Cheri regularly knit &/or crochet baby blankets for newborns and donate them to hospitals and birthing centers. Once I have finished knitting the one for our upcoming grandson, I will see about knitting for nearby hospital maternity facilities. I like to be able to keep my hands busy and away from snacks. :flowerforyou:
Lisa — I had a colonoscopy last year and had to show the doctor’s office Covid vaccination proof before I could go in the door for the procedure. :ohwell:
Michele — Our old microwave/oven combination were in the kitchen when we moved here more than 20 years ago. We were the first residents to live here. They worked well until they stopped altogether. The new microwave and oven combination is in the garage waiting to be installed.
Kylia — Have your tried stevia in your coffee? No calories. It is not as sweet as real sugar, but I like it well enough.
Carol in GA — I am eager to have the old appliances hauled away and the new installed. It feels like it is taking longer than necessary. The company that will be doing the work has put us on a waiting list for installation. :ohwell:

Edging closer to shutting down and working from home again!!
I would love it if we walked into work on Monday and were told to pack up by the end of the day to work from home for the next few weeks!!
I don't know if it will happen but indications are growing.

Katla- I use local honey in coffee for the allergies. It works wonderfully! Couldn't have this morning until after blood work. Tasted so good when i finally got it!
Machka- work from home-good.
Reserge- not good. I take it people have been traveling again?
Back to work.1 -
Rebecca--Sounds like your visit is off to a great start. Looking forward to pictures.
Sounds like the numbers for Covid are going up around here also. OSHA is now in charge of rules for hospitals, nursing homes, and airports. So they have us back at square one. It was interesting when I was at the doctor Wednesday and we are talking about having to be careful about infections he never said anymore about getting the shot. But he was looking thru my phone at my blood counts from giving blood and it says they tested me each time and I have the antibodies.

Up at 7:00am, who am I? Drank both cups of coffee (little coffee maker makes two small cups at a time). Tying my tennis shoes, leaning over to tie my shoes, the chair moved quickly out from under me! Lol! I plopped down on the carpet, and my knee tweaked, and scraped my arm on the side of the chair. It was the business chair that is in the "office area". I'm perfectly fine, just annoyed! There is a hot tub next to the indoor pool so it will be nice to use that later today. I'm afraid the pool is just too cold for Athena to enjoy, and well the hot tub is too hot!
We're heading over to Athenas place around lunchtime, and go for a walk on the promenade area in Vancouver. I think we might treat son and wife to Kentucky Fried chicken. Its been years since we have had a bucket, with sides. I will declare that my meal, so fasting until then. I did have coffee, so technically its taken me out of a fasted state. Its called a "dirty fast" but hey I need coffee in the morning, and don't do black coffee. Pick and choose my battles!
Athena is go go going all day long! She decided that taking a nap wasn't in the cards yesterday. She did eat a whole mandarin orange, in her high chair, then go positively loopy! She showed us her yelling talents, and we yelled with her. But she like won, making the dogs outside in another apartment bark. Lol! Nothing like watching a child just yell, their eyes glazing over a wee bit, such fun! She got recharged, and we went for a walk.
My son is so great with her, and you can see they have a close bond. My daughter inlaw works hard at a pediatric clinic, so has a short day today, off at 3 pm I think. Their apartment has toys, and stuff from stem to stern, which husband and I are not used to. But no judgment, they have different priorities, and I know my son, (at the beginning of their marriage) stated that she was kinda more messy than him. So I think he got tired of picking up after her. Having a clean place isn't really a priority, and that's perfectly ok. I know raising the boys, I did enjoy picking up the living room so when they were in bed, I could look around and not really see any toys. We definitely had zones, reading areas, play areas and quiet grown up areas. In a house you can do that. In an apartment its more difficult. Making dinner, they have a latch system for all their cabinets lower, that is a magnet latch. So its a round thing you keep on the fridge, and if you wish to open a drawer or cabinet, you just put the round magnet over a round sticker on the drawer or cabinet. That moves the latch to open. Quite magical. But son has so much stuff in kitchen. It took all my concentration to not get overwhelmed. No real counter space. But I was fine, and Athena coming in every so often saying "good morning" was the sweetest sound I ever heard.💖👍
Ok every one have a good day!

Kylia — We will be traveling to the east coast for the birth of a grandchild in the fall. I’m spending evenings knitting a baby blanket and watching TV. Yesterday it was the Calgary Stampede and several veterinarian shows. 🐎🐕🐈🐄🐓 I like critters. 😎3

Rebecca - I had the same feeling about the toys when my grandchildren were tiny. Total overwhelm!!!!! They did sort of straighten them out after bedtime, but it wasn't very methodical. But life is so very exhausting with a toddler. Tidy and clean is not a priority. As long as the kid is happy.
I used to recoil at the area under the table!!!! Ugh. DDIL said she had to decide not to worry about it or she would drive herself mad.
Sooooooo glad you are getting some Athena time at last.
I gave DH his haircut just now. He hasn't been feeling robust just now with allergies and sleeping problems, so I decided to have compassion and managed to do it with good grace. It only took 10 mins, including ears and eyebrows. Now he looks smart for his sister.
Much love to all, Heather UK xxxxxx2 -
Thought about it a lot, and canceled the colonoscopy that was slated for next week. Lots of reasons - but having to get a COVID test done in order to get another test done is just past asinine and on to Monty Python-esque. I'm better off staying at home and away from hospitals period. The COVID rates are going up again in Arkansas, just like they are everywhere else in the US. This will just have to wait until the situation calms down, or I turn 70, whichever comes first.
One big reason is that I want to stop throwing medications at my system and see what happens. They've piled so many on top of me now that it's a cocktail of drugs that I have to down every morning and evening, and it's just too much. They have seriously tested me for EVERYthing from gluten sensitivity to colitis and every food group, including milk, eggs, beef, pork and every other kind of possible allergy. I have no allergies or sensitivities that they can find.
And now, my heart medication amounts are also changing and I'm in complete overwhelm. When I get to this point, it's time for me to step off the merry-go-round and catch a few breaths. I'm going to make them concentrate on getting my heart medications balanced for now, and just treat my gut symptoms instead of trying to find the source. I need things to be different, and I have to remember that they don't have the right to tell me I must, they can only advise me that I should. Still my choice in the end.
Later y'all,
From that balky old mule in Arkansas

Thanks for the support everyone. I live this morning mantra from the No Mud No Lotus book: “Awaking I smile. I have 24 hours of life to enjoy. And I will try to show compassion for all the beings I encounter.” I have been saying this daily in the morning while taking deep breaths. I’m noticing a change in my attitude! I think it’s a good thing. I can’t change my DH but I can change me. He is also starting to take a slight interest in what I’m doing to change myself. Here’s hoping!!

lisa - I was listening to a pod cast that touched lightly on Lyme disease and a few of the symptoms sounded like what you are dealing with.... maynot be related at all.... just a thought

Kylia-Something like that happened to me too with a mailed package. When I went to the counter to show them the package, which was clearly intentionally cut, he shrugged. I actually think you can and should file a complaint. I am sure there is a way to do it online, I just don’t know how.
Julie-The concert was pop, which is why I don’t have friends who care to go with me. I just think this performer will put on a great show. I need a teen or pre-teen to take. It has actually been postponed 3 times, as have several other concerts we had tickets to attend. It seems that everything is being scheduled in October right now—concerts, live theater, conventions! I wish they’d all spread it out a bit!
Barbara-The vaccines themselves didn’t really hurt. I just had sore arms for a day and felt tired. But, at least 2 of them are lifetime, so I won’t have to get them again. I’m thinking of getting one more before we go on vacation, but I wanted to spread them out a bit in case I had any significant side effects.
Resurgence-I don’t know what the numbers are here, but people are going along like there was no pandemic. I suspect they’ll start climbing again.
I’m struggling trying to heal my knee and hips. Physical therapy just seems to harm more than help. But because I’m having trouble, it’s hard to burn my 300+ calories a day in activity. I get bored walking the neighborhood and rowing for as long as it takes to do it.
We are going to a very “special” dinner tonight with friends at an Indonesian restaurant. It’s going to be stupid expensive, but hopefully a great experience. I won’t be eating much until then, but thankfully it’s an early dinner.
Have a great day.

Lime Disease is caused by a tick bite. My husband’s favorite cousin was bitten while he was hunting. Over time the bite caused serious problems with his ability to think and function. He passed away many years ago.0

Thanks, Kim - I went and looked up the symptoms, and you're right. There is a specific test for it, and I may ask my GP to submit it for me.3 -
Pip - Poor Yogi. Hope he's back on his game by tomorrow. Sweet pup.
