Age: 31

After a really slowww loss in June, July has been an out of this world weight-loss month! I’ve lost a staggering -9.6lbs this month. 😱 I’m eating exactly the same as I have been eating throughout the journey, with the exception of starting to take my coffee black (instead of with milk). I’ve always wanted to be one of those cool people who could just pour a cup of coffee straight from the pot and drink it - and now I am! I’ve also upped my fitness significantly this month, which could have something to do with the drop I’m seeing.
UGW is starting to FEEL really close and achievable - even though it’s still 12lbs away, I’m starting to make my plan for transitioning to maintenance so whenever the time comes, I won’t be taken off guard. I definitely am having some sagging skin on my lower belly but it’s not too bad (definitely not as bad as the +55lbs I was carrying around with me every day) and I’m trusting that a lot of it will go away after 1-2 years in maintenance.
My NSV this week was that way back in 2015, I bought a pair of maroon pants, size 8. They looked great in the store, I bought them, took them home and washed them - and they shrank so badly I could never wear them again! I have memories of forcing the zipper to close because I thought they were so cute but never being able to find a top that covered up the subsequent muffin top to my satisfaction. Well… take a look at the pic now! Doing a happy dance all over my living room!

@girlinkaz excellent victories! I am so jealous of your stomach!3
-
@girlinkaz you look so great and so very happy. Your hard work has paid off - pretty soon those pants will be too loose! Take time to enjoy your success!4
-
@jazzadesigns I still can’t believe it’s mine! 😉 6 months ago me would never have believed it was possible. Best of luck to you on your journey!
@57pattycake Thank you!!!3 -
Hi everyone, new to My Fitness Pal and my physician told me to join and start my weightloss journey this summer. I’ve been doing it for 1 week so far and feel motivated to keep going. I am following a Cognitive Behavioural Therapy program with strict diet protocol and exercise regimen. 10,000steps a day + reading assignments ans group therapy with other patients. I’ve never taken my chronic obesity as seriously as I have this summer because illness was creeping up and general malaise was a daily thing. I’m glad to be doing this for me, for once.
Age: 41

7/23: 239
7/24: 238

7/26: 237
7/27: 235.8
GW for Aug : 225
GW for 2021: 200
UGW: 150 but my physician doesn’t want me to concentrate on UGW because it’s not always possible and body composition is 70% determined by your genetics and at this point in my journey of rather just focus on health and general wellbeing.
Hope we can cheer each other on!9 -
Age: 55
Height: 5' 8"

GW: 160
MSW: 232.2
7/9 234.4
7/30 233.0
This has been the first month that I did not lose weight! I have actually gained! It seems that I hit the 25# mark and bounced up a bit. Yikes.
Nothing has changed with my eating other than going over a bit last Saturday. I have lost inches at waist, hips and fanny, however. Also, I started taking vitamins because I was having a hair shed.
NSV: This month I have gone from 20-60mph with regard to energy and exercise. I have more than doubled my steps and have been doing a lot of heavy gardening... moving logs and rocks on our property in the mountains. This has been huge for me because bending to pick up anything, before, caused a lot of hip pain that would last throughout the day.
The way I feel has been very good for my confidence and offsets my worry about the number on the scale.
@girlinkaz you look amazing... great job!
@Uyi you are an inspiration and doing awesome!
@KeriA I am sorry to hear that you are having health issues... Hugs!

So my team at work has a weekly meeting on Fridays, and a coworker has taken it upon herself to set up a rotation for people to bring snacks/breakfast to this meeting. It was my turn this week and I really wrestled with what to bring in - I super don't want to get into my health journey at work, I've already gotten comments at other times when the office has ordered lunch from like Panera or something and I get soup and salad (which tbh has always been my go-to regardless, their salads are bomb, but you can't eat salad while fat in public without somebody feeling some type of way about it). I was originally going to get a box of donuts from Dunkin or something but then I decided I didn't want to spend 300 calories on a crappy donut, or spend the whole meeting actively resisting doing that. I ended up getting a couple boxes of mini muffins from the Publix bakery - they're like 110-112cal apiece, that's fine, I can spend 200-300 cals on a couple of tiny muffins. I still might pop over to the fake Starbucks on campus and see if they have anything with a little more protein to supplement; I do have about 600 calories to play with after accounting for the rest of the food I plan to eat today. I just wish they would have been open at 8 when I got here.4

Glad you're seeing the inches lost even if the weight isn't budging much! Must be all that activity.
That's a win for sure!
Also, @girlinkaz - GREAT WORK!!6 -
Bit of a WHOOOSH day for me today.
Weighed in at 234.3 this morning, which is 1.8# less than yesterday, so total July loss now 5.6#.
Still short of the 8# I was striving for, but still progress.
Keep it going everyone!!!OnceAndFutureAthlete wrote: »And now for July....

SW: 278 (March 2021)
CW: 236.1 (42# GONE!)
GW for July: Below 232 = 8#
GW for 2021: get to Onederland = 7#/month
FGW: 150 (will then re-evaluate)
7/1: 239.9
7/8: 238.1 (-1.8#)
7/15: 239.4 (+1.3#)
7/22: 241.1 (+1.7#)
7/29: 236.1 (-5.0#)
Total month loss: 3.8 pounds
Total loss so far: 41.9 pounds
Weellllll...... I fell way short of my monthly goal of 8 pounds. Only gonna make about half of that by the 31st.
Thanks to everyone for keeping this thread going - It's helping me a lot!

@girlinkaz thanks!
@JoseeOHara I didn’t know they had groups like that. This is a great group to be in!
@Spotteddingo it’s good that your having NSVs. Sometimes that’s more important than the scale.
@goal06082021 I hope you found something good. I love to bake and have always brought in sweets to work. This last time I made homemade hummus with veggies, something healthy.
@drj63 congrats on reaching Onederland!
@OnceAndFutureAthlete congrats on the woosh! Wish I’d have one!4 -
@Spotteddingo I am having the WORST hair shed too! It has happened to me once before when I lost 70 points way back in 2005 so I keep telling myself that it is temporary and will stop.. but if anyone has any tips, I am all ears! Vitamins and protein is so far what the internet has told me to do (that and not worry which is HARD) but if anyone has done something different, I would love to hear it.5
-
@girlinkaz I started taking prenatal vitamins and it is definitely helping! I will be 56 next week so do not need them for pregnancy but they are good vitamins.5

I missed my family reunion this week because of work… but not to worry, the out of town family decided to come to me 🤪 So tomorrow I am spontaneously hosting dinner at my house. 12 adults, 2 kids under 3yo, 3 dogs and a cat. I am also providing accommodations for 4 of the adults and 2 dogs overnight (in addition to my own family, dog and cat). All the prep work and running around burns calories right?
Wish me luck!3 -

Still need a little more to get to onederland before surgery on the 20th. I CAN DO THIS!!!7 -
Hi I’m 53 and 5’6”.
Starting weight: 257.8 lbs Jan 14, 2021
July Start Weight: 226.5 (6/30/21)
July Goal Weight: 223.0
Ultimate Goal Weight: 170
July 3: 225.6
July 10: 224.3 (-1.3)
July 17: 223.9 (-0.4)
July 24: 223.7 (-0.2)
July 31: 221.5 (-2.2)
I finally had a woosh and met my monthly goal! I met my step goal 5 days this week (goal is 4 days). My step challenge at work is over today. I’m nowhere near the top of the leaderboard, but still am closer to the top than the bottom so I’m happy with that. I need to try to figure out the fitbit challenges so I can try one. And I worked out 5 days this week. I still have to work on increasing my workouts time-wise.
@tuddy315 you CAN do it!
Hope everyone had a great month! Onward to August!7 -
I forgot to weigh myself this AM because I was up and out so early for a 615 exercise class. But that’s ok because I’ve been on track.
Exercise class today was amazing! Signing up for more.8 -
I’m 5’9 and 209 lbs this is the heaviest I’ve been. I’m not happy about it. I want to lose about 85lbs and feel happy again. But I don’t know where to start5
