reviewing what I like about my current job:

my own office overlooking a parklike area

    a bathroom I don’t share

    low stress

    nice boss

very seldom need to be phony

    close to home
    gas
    easy commute in bad weather
    kids’ activities
    emergencies
easier to make time for gym
    no traffic

the hours are earlier than average

    attractive & safe environment

    plenty of parking

    good places to walk

Sounds like you like a lot. What's making you look elsewhere?
It is very boring, not challenging at all, no room for growth, and the pay is low. I’m supposed to be moving into financial independence over the next couple of years and I have bills to pay

I guess you like all the for lack of a better work perks of your current job. Being bored and unchallenged is never fun. I was always that way at my jobs.
It's great you're doing your zoom interview. Will you be able to go to the office in person to check it out and see what kind of feel you get from it? Change is hard you want to be able to feel comfortable and usually we can figure that out in a simple visit

Yes, if the zoom interview goes well, I’ll schedule a time to go in and meet the staff.

    Well that's good. Good luck!
Do you think this could leverage your current job into a pay raise?

I wish! Everything here is by contract as negotiated by the union. We’re not up for renegotiation for at least a couple of years.

    Ah well that sucks
New job wouldn't be unionized I guess?
At least you have a current job so you can be picky. It's always a nice position to be in

No, the place I’m interviewing is not unionized but it is another weird niche sector with its own kind of strange rules. (sectors I find strange: government, healthcare, academia)

I’m really trying to enjoy the process. It’s hard 😂

I wish I were back in the age when young men would play guitar and serenade me because nowadays I sure as *kitten* would join in. We’d have ourselves a tight lil jam session

I just dropped my cancer people off and I choose drives to this particular hospital because it's close to my house and should take only 10 minutes. However, now I'm stuck in a traffic jam. Why is only my side of the highway completely jammed? The gods are conspiring against me
