09/08 …..187.6….. ENDING WEIGHT LAST ROUND
09/09 …..188.8 ….. (trend weight 187.9) A gain overnight. It tasted like cookies but it was really the past week of well problems over & over and no water, travel, medical issues related to prior cancer that is still unresolved and the death in my extended family. Emotional eating and stress is real! Today I travel again for two CT scans. One of the liver, one of the lung. This is not a routine set of tests. There are issues that are being checked and/or rechecked. Things have been found and we need to get to the bottom of it. Travel for me means a lot of inactivity and restaurant dinner. I may skip posting my weight tomorrow (which I have never done) because I just can’t take anymore stress or pressure. I’ll post and read, but no weight! Well company coming back tomorrow. Maybe some resolution but I’m skeptical because they have already been here a couple of weeks ago. I am going to try to pull myself together tomorrow and start weighing myself again on Saturday. I just can’t take anymore bad news! In regards to those cookies, I promise it was not 1.2 pounds worth. Scale is all over the place!
09/10 …..DNW ….. (trend weight DNW) CT scans were easy yesterday. 3 large cups of contrast dye an hour prior. No results yet, of course. I had to stop my diabetes medication Wednesday night and I can’t resume taking until Sunday morning. I guess that forces me to really watch what I am eating although it didn’t stop me yesterday during travel. Today really needs to be a good day.
09/11 …..189.2 ….. (trend weight 188.3) Okay, I guess I expected as much after travel. Good news on the CT scan results…..liver lesions are benign cycts. Lung nodule has grown again both in length and width but they still feel it is not a fast enough growth from CT scan to CT scan rechecks to merit a biopsy or to suspect cancer. They will continue (as they have done since 2019) to monitor it every 6 months with follow-up CT scans. Yay! Now, to get through the real worry next week on the 16th. What does the breast surgeon recommend for my unusual skin changes on the breast which could be a pre-cursor to a very aggressive breast cancer metasteses? We will know soon…… I am planning a lazy day today as I am mentally exhausted. However, if I push myself hard enough I may just fit in a few short walks and some dancing. BTW, well company never showed up yesterday. WTH?
09/12 …..188.4 ….. (trend weight 188.3) I worked hard yesterday afterall and skipped that rest day. I cleaned window frames outside and was up & down stairs all day. I also rode the exercise bike twice, did a little walking, and danced for about 20 minutes. One song was “Have you ever seen the rain?” Yes, I was thinking of you @quiltingjaine ! Good meals yesterday but a bad snack last night. I’ve got to improve my habits!
09/13 …..189.0 ….. (trend weight 188.4)Drats already! After burning a gajillion calories the past 2 days, I ended up with my body screaming for calories and the hunger was intense at 1:00 AM. After closing out of MFP I ended up in the kitchen cooking and eating. 3.5 hours of sleep and then on the scale weighing. Not such a good plan! Today I will be burning many calories again and back on my projects. I will have to plan better. During the hunger I tried 1 oz of walnuts, then a full size (140 cal) yogurt, then a piece of 90% cacao dark chocolate. That just added to my extra calories when I finally cooked a meal. Not happy here today!
09/14 …..187.6 ….. (trend weight 188.3) Very strange…..last night I needed no snacks and wiped them off my pre-log. The night before I was up cooking at 1:00 AM. I had the same dinner both nights and I did the same phenomenal calorie burn working on my window project. I don’t always get it, but I’ll take that it’s in the right direction today with a smile.
09/15 …..185.8 ….. (trend weight 188.0) Thank you TMI. Also did more window cleaning after the rain stopped for some very nice extra calorie burn. Tomorrow I travel to the cancer center. Hopefully it will be tolerable news. My scale reading will be up Friday but I hope to have it level back off by Sunday. I’ve just got to keep my nose clean after the trip! It doesn’t happen unless I make it happen!
09/16 …..185.2 ….. (trend weight 187.8) A good day yesterday. More windows cleaned and I’m almost done with that calorie burning project. Travel today.
09/17 …..186.2 ….. (trend weight 187.6) Medical appointment yesterday revealed I will need a minor surgery to do a WE (wide excising) of the tissue to remove the rest of the skin nodule. This will be sent to pathology. Surgery will be in a couple of weeks and is outpatient. The stitches will be inside the incision. I am relieved as my mind wandered to the possibility of total mastectomy to stop all these scares over the years. I’m not ready for all that, especially when it is 8 hours round trip and bad roads and severe winter weather is coming soon. Mastectomy and reconstruction is a LOT of appointments! This is not the time of year for THAT! My friend chose the restaurant on the way home. Golden Corral. Yes, I thought of you again, @quiltingjaine . Even being careful and taking HALF of what I wanted, I bet I still ate a lot more than you usually do when you go! Is it safe to say that 186 pounds gets hungrier than 116 – 117 pounds? LOL. No excuses here! I did okay and only one pound gain is the least I think I’ve ever gained when traveling so I’m happy with it. I am so glad I’m following my trend weight now too. It’s still going down. One day does not a girl make.
09/18 …..187.6 ….. (trend weight 187.6) Well, I was hoping that the Golden Corral & travel weight gain of one pound yesterday was the end of it. But I guess that is just not the case. This morning, the slacker part of the gain finally showed up at what, I hope, is the finish line. I knew that only a one pound gain was not going to be accurate. The aroma only weighed one pound! Moral of Story…..if it seems too good to be true, it probably is! Nice round for so many of you! I broke even with the start and end weight and for that, I suppose I should be grateful. It’s been an emotional and worrisome round for me but there is always a sunrise on the next horizon! In my spoiler I document losses per round until I reach a 10 round period where I add it all together. This is a space saver because I’ve been doing this challenge for so long. I’m thrilled that I have lost 16.2 pounds over the past 10 rounds.

SW: 158
9/9- 155.6- feeling optimistic about the 10 days. Also started using a habit tracker which keeps me mindful and gives me a visual to my progress on behaviors I am working on (like good sleep hygeine).
9/10- 157.2- doesn't surprise me...we had take out last night. I always have these 2-3 lb swings...just need them at a lower overall weight. 😆
9/11- 158. I'm not very good at this. But I'm logging. And I guess that's something.
9/12- 156.6 Check off yesterday's and today's workout! Busy day working a Ealk to End Alz for work. Could be making better food choices.
9/13 157.4 I'm exhausted today
9/14 - 157.8
9/15- 156.6
9/16- 158.8
9/17- 157
9/18- 156.6 ...I didn't check in each day, but I did keep up with weighing even when I didn't want to. But I guess if I learned something this round (my first!) It's a good thing!
Ave over 10 days = 157.17 -
Thank you @quiltingjaine !! May 10, 2021 - 183.1 - just 2.9 pounds off 186, my heaviest weight ever - (stopped posting on this challenge July 2020 - very glad to be back!)
Calorie/Carb Cycling with an average of 1200 to 1400 calories at the end of 10 days. 80 oz water each day. Row/Walk most days. Focus on getting enough vegetables.
Next short-term goal:
169....168....167....166....165....164....163....162.X
SW (9/08): 165.9
9/09: 164.8 - Good riddance to 165.x, finally! I've been 165.x for 2 weeks. I would love to hit my next short-term goal this 10 days - we shall see. Rowed 30 min. 80 oz water.
9/10: 164.5
9/11: 164.2 - It's nice to be dropping again.
9/12: 164.0
9/13: 163.9
9/14: 163.9 - Glad to see weight stayed the same after popcorn (air popped) with butter and too much salt. I love popcorn and it's a good snack to have if I don't add so much salt. I drank lots of water and rowed, and was still within my calorie range.
9/15: 163.9 - Okay, let's see how many days I can stick 163.9. I'll take it since I'm still 163.x!
9/16: 163.4 The number on the scale is exciting to see but what really motivates me at the moment is when I go all day long in a pair of pants that are now starting to fall off!!
9/17: 163.3
9/18: 163.3 I should be able to hit my next short-term goal next round! Congratulations to all of us for showing up each day to be accountable regardless of what the scale reads, and to support each other!
Every healthy habit brings me closer to scratching each of these off to NEVER see them again!
180's; 170's; 160's; 150's; 140's; 130's
If I quit now, I'll soon be back where I started. And when I started, I so desperately wanted to be where I am now!
There is no going back! NOT THIS TIME!5 -
@playhardkf2017 once you have ramped up your metabolism during exercise, it does stay ramped up for hours, at least that is what I have read. My first “tool” was a Polar heart rate monitor with a chest strap. It records your heart rate and the app lets you know if you need to slow down. I used mine at the gym all the time. Based on the info you provide it, it gives calorie burn also. I can’t believe it’s been almost a year since I used it!

@deepwoodslady - was thinking of you, pleased that the results are the least of two evils. Hope the appointment comes around quickly for you, the sooner it's done the better. You've had a good round too with all you've had to contend with 🤗 x5

4’9” petite-sm. boned female. 59 yrs
Ultimate goal: 98 lbs (subject to change)
SW (starting over--May 24, 2021): 160.3I started mfp on 2/20/11 at 160.2 lbs.
My lowest weight on mfp was 140 lbs in 11/2013 and 5/2014.
My highest weight ever: 168+ (and I wasn't even pregnant at that time... ) That was in 12/2016.
Just for the record used to be an athlete a long, long time ago. Used to teach Aerobics and Step Aerobics. Used to LOVE exercise.
Nowadays, I don't exercise at all. Why, oh why not? How can I go from loving exercise and doing tons of exercise to nothing at all?
Going from low blood pressure to being on medication for high blood pressure. What have I done to myself?!
Round 151 Lost 3.1 lbs. EW: 157.2
Round 152 EW: 159.6
Round 153 EW 158.6
Round 154 EW 157.8
Round 155 EW 157

Round 158 EW 159.2
Round 159 EW 158.8
Round 160 EW 158.4
Round 161 EW 158
Round 162 Goals: Go to bed earlier & get up earlier. Drink at least 40 oz of water. Add in exercise. Stick with menu plans as closely as possible even if my day gets changed up... and plan every day, if at all possible.
Do your best and it will happen!
9/9 158 did well with diet & exercise, yesterday.
9/10 156.8 Very stressful day, yesterday. Had wreck on the way to work. I'm ok, but was kinda in shock & couldn't think straight & couldn't keep from shaking. Finally was able to take a picture of other cars license plate. Lady ran stop sign & rear ended me pretty hard. I didn't even think to tell the police that she ran the stop sign & then moved her car back after she hit me. Lady said she moved it to get it out of traffic... First wreck in 17 years... when someone else ran a stop sign & t-boned my vehicle. That was a worse wreck than than this one. Also, I had woken up about 3 or 4 in the morning with a terrible migraine. Work was also very stressful, yesterday.
9/11 156.8 I know it will catch up with me. I had a binge last night. Another very stressful day, yesterday... work was bad stress & also got a call from the SNF that my Dad is in. Dad bleeding internally so he was sent to the Hospital ER. He's responsive & stable, they just can't handle this type of issue at the SNF.
9/12 156 Yay! I done good yesterday with exercise, water & food. Dad still in hospital.
9/13. 157 did pretty darn good yesterday with food. No binging. But knew it would catch up with me from the other binges a fewdays ago. Did exercise. Drank more water than usual 48 oz. Surpassed my minimum water goal for this week. 10,000 steps. My goal is 8,000 & I don’t do that very often. And rarely 10,000 steps. I’m still highly motivated that this is my time to lose weight! I am taking it slowly but am very determined. Dad still in hospital & still don’t know what’s causing internal bleeding.
9/14 157 Again did pretty good. No exercise though. Had a 3 extra small handfuls of cashews last night. Drank my minimum of water: 40 oz., Very stressed. Not sleeping well the last few nights. headachey... but no migraine.
9/15 157 Yesterday was a very stressful day. Both work & other. I ate way too much last night -- late dinner. Drank 40 or 48 oz. not sure which... but at least my minimum. No exercise, again! Hope to get some in, today... Today I am beginning the day full of anxiety. Must find someone to help me to get parent's benefits & insurance straightened out. I'm not doing well... I'm floundering.
9/16 157.6
9/17 158
9/18 159.6 Ugh I went the wrong direction. Tons of stress, again... I did some exercise on the 16th, but not since. I have not been drinking my minimum water since the 15th. Maximum stress the last few days & I don't want to even talk about it. I think that I was just one step away from having a breakdown. Yesterday was one of the roughest days of my life. And, yet, still so many others have it worse and more than me. I MUST find ways of handling it. I am missing throwing myself into exercise. I wish that I had more time and energy & just starting back after so long without is hard because until I build up to it... so that I have more energy after working out. I want to just start back into the types of exercise that I enjoy the most... but can't because I need to do the back exercises & need to be stronger... so need some strength exercises. I LOVE racquetball, aerobics, even basketball, love throwing a football around... I used to love walking but my feet at this weight are having trouble. I'd love to start running, again, but my feet.....
Everyone does so well and are losing tons. I know that when I stick with my food plans, I do well. The minute that I go off my plan or don't plan... I immediately gain it back. So, this round ended so poorly after doing very well in the middle of it. And, I KNOW, I said that I was very determined & this was my time... and I didn't do as I said. Well, guess I'll keep trying... I am NOT giving up!

9/18-- 202---Soooo, Round 162 did not end the way I wanted. Mainly because of my own choices and a couple of things I could not control. My hobbies include couponing, clearance shopping and getting "free" stuff. Around this time of year, I seem to get a lot of free or dirt cheap candy, and yep, even though I call myself putting it back for the kiddos Halloween, some of it ended up getting devoured. I take full responsibility for that, but I can't take responsibility for the hamburger I ate last Friday getting hung up in my system for four days causing havoc!! IT JUST SAT THERE causing me misery to the point that I ate the most greasiest foods (natural laxative for me) I could find yesterday after taking miralax twice with no avail. I have IBS, so I can't take anything strong-- so really I was kinda eating the chocolate thinking it would ignite some kind of fire, but it didn't--I've eaten stuff that I would definitely not be eating usually just trying to get my stomach some relief. Thank goodness this morning when I drank my coffee, it hit up with all the grease and S&%$ hit the fan--LOL. Sorry if this is TMI, but it was honestly my struggle this week. Is anyone else finding that the older you get, beef poses a problem with your system?

OSW: 186 (March 2018)
Maintenance: 140-145 (December 2018)
My 123rd Round!
Still trying to get back down to maintenance. It's really surprising how the extra 3 to 4 pounds I've been carrying the past few months has changed how my clothes fit and how I feel. I've had just enough stress to snack too much and not be mindful of getting back to maintenance. Things are looking up for my family health wise, so it's now time to focus back on my health.
Being overweight is hard.
Maintaining a healthy weight is hard.
Choose your hard.

Day/Weight/Comment
9/09 - 147 - Calories were good and took a long walk with the dog and husband.
9/10 - 147 - I'm holding myself accountable to track all my food this weekend.
9/11 - 147.5 - Just a bounce, but my supper tonight will probably show up tomorrow. Plenty of carbs and salt.
9/12 - 146.5 - Okay, so last night's supper will probably show up tomorrow. But it's nice to see this number today.
9/13 - 146 - My husband started his 3 mile run yesterday morning and had a bad calf strain after a mile and had to come limping home. He wanted to take the dog on a mile walk in the park with me in the afternoon, so halfway through that walk I was distracted by an ambulance stopping at a neighbor's house and managed to step in a hole. I heard my ankle crunch as I went down. Luckily, no breaks but we looked like the walking wounded taking the dog back home. I'll have to reduce my eating to compensate for the lack of steps this week.
9/14 - 146 - My ankle was pretty sore yesterday, so I didn't even manage 4,000 steps, but it already feels better this morning, so I'm hoping to get more movement in today.
9/15 - 145 - Although I expect a bounce tomorrow, I am so happy because I've not seen this weight for 3 months. Weighing and logging all my food is key for me to stay on track.
9/16 - 146 - Although I was a little disappointed, I was expecting to be up a little this morning. It's OK, my trend weight is lower than it has been for a while. I need to stay focused on moving and my eating.
9/17 - 146 - My ankle started bothering me again yesterday. I guess I re-aggravated it when I started trying to get all my steps in for the day. I'll just keep tracking my food and water.
9/18 - 146 - I haven't ended a round below 147 for a couple months, so I'm happy.

🎉DAY 1:?9/14 72.9 160.38 did Really well today - pre-logged everything before I ate & walked tons.
Should be lower tomorrow or next day.
🎉Day 2: 9/15 72.3 159.06 ⬇️🌸 VERY HAPPY
My system worked yesterday!! I wrote down everything I was going to eat on a piece of paper on kitchen counter, and recorded fiber protein sodium & calories for each. Doing so BEFORE I ate anything helped me realize what was too salty or would throw my protein or calories too high. Also entered it in my phone app. I didn’t feel so great as I dipped water, walked tons, and kept busy Decluttering…body WAS NOT happy with the overeating from 9/14 & the change was particularly apparent this morning.I feel much better. On my walk, I realized my body feels MUCH better with sodium under 1500mg. So now that’s a “want to” not a “have to”!
9/16 YAY 🦩 159.06 🌸 ➡️yay! Did great yesterday!
9/17 😍🌸🎉 158.6 🌸⬇️⬇️ YAY my track & assess prior to eating is working!! Vastly relieved. I should add it’s gotten cooler here, which is often when the summer wt melts off…but heat is coming again next week. Fingers crossed I can keep doing what I’m doing

My first “tool” was a Polar heart rate monitor with a chest strap. It records your heart rate and the app lets you know if you need to slow down. I used mine at the gym all the time. Based on the info you provide it, it gives calorie burn also. I can’t believe it’s been almost a year since I used it!
I have my garmin watch with the heart rate sensor in it and sometimes post-workout it increases a bit more. I wonder how accurate it is.3 -

9/11 210 After a day on antibiotics due to tooth pain, I got in for an evaluation with an endodontist, who is going to re-treat a two year old root canal, but can't schedule me in until Oct 6th. Suddenly, my concern about weight loss shifted to pain control! I was exhausted after driving to the big town with an endo since my brother who I'm visiting lives out in the boonies. Sleep & rest are restorative.
9/12
9/13
9/14 214.4 going in the wrong direction! I swam yesterday & felt the effects of endorphins, but was really hungry after swimming. Sadly my planned meals weren't satiating enough, so I overate. Today is a new day. I commit to eating only my planned portions today. Revised goal for this challenge is to be at or close to the weight at which I started this challenge. Dang that means I'll need to lose 3 pounds in 4 days!
9/15 211 still amazes me how much we can lose (or gain) in a day! At least I'm below where I started this 10 day challenge. Now to drink water, eat we exercise & enjoy this fall day
9/16
9/17
9/18 211.2 Phew, at least I'm a bit less than when I started this challenge!

I should have added my original Polar was a watch AND chest strap. When I replaced it I read tons of reviews about the watch’s with built in HRM which said even the HRs weren’t accurate so stuck with the strap and transmitter. I’ve counted my heartbeats and that is accurate with the strap but not the count on the treadmill unless the TM has picked up the watch signal. The calories on the treadmill are always way off the watch/app number of calories which seem to be accurate if weight loss is any indication. 🙂

@quiltinjaine, I always forget to comment on the Polar watch. I sweated through 3 of those with the chest strap back in the day. They were the best!3

9/9 201.2 GRRRR!
9/10 200.3 Better I guess. TOM is here. I am still struggling a bit. All the weight gain is in my waist lately.
9/11 199.3
9/12 200.8
9/13 199.5 I definitely indulged in chocolate a bit this weekend. Other than my Zumba class I did not work hard this weekend.
9/14 200.4 May not accurate because I washed my hair when I got onto the scale. I know I did pretty good most of the time yesterday but did some snacking last night.
9/15 200.3
9/16 200.1
9/17 200.8 No idea for the uptick.

I like to track averages due to my wild fluctuations. For the same reason, I like to weigh daily so I can see the lows from time to time. It gives me hope.
Round 162
Month/Day: Exercise / Comment
9/9: 204.2
Quite the yoyo. Thankful for the lows. Getting excited about my northern Wisconsin fishing trip. In the past, this has also been an eating trip. We all bring food to share. We have talked about de-emphasizing that aspect of things this year. Talk is cheap.
9/10: 204.6
It’s Friday! Starting tomorrow, the more the fish are biting, the less I will be biting.
9/11: releasing the Kraken! I named my old fishing boat “the Kraken.”
9/12: releasing the Kraken!
9/13: releasing the Kraken!
9/14: releasing the Kraken!
9/15: 206
Back at it! This reading is amazing considering…..
Had a great time with uncles and cousin on the trip. Not a lot of salad consumed. Ha! Went up there for crappie and caught some but nowhere near the limit. I did boat a very nice walleye that hit my crappie bait.
Pumpkin Festival starts today.
I will try try catch up with the 135 posts I missed. 😊
9/16: 207.6
AAAAAnd there is the Pumpkin Festival food tent showing up. Luckily I was able to burn a few calories by smiling at my 4 year old DGS while he did a few carnival rides.
9/17: 207.4
Amazed that there was a drop, all things considered.
9/18: 208.2
As expected.
My major goal was met, but minor goal was an epic fail. I better meet my minor goal next round😊
General goal was upended by fishing trip and pumpkin festival. Looking forward to improvement.
