Good morning girls. How's everyone doing?
I've had my birthday celebrations and I'm back on it and excited. I have a 12 week challenge I'm doing, ends at the end of December. Can't wait to see the results!

Sept 28:
We got a new kitten 3 day's ago, he was dropped off in our neighborhood and found his way to our yard. Hub was feeding him and asked me if I wanted to see the kitten, of course I said yes. OMG he's so adorable! His tail is really fluffy. He's a long hair Tabby Cat black and gray. My husband named him Mr. Snicket (yes it's Snicket) He has an appointment with our vet this coming Saturday. He spends most of his time out on the upper deck where all the cat trees are. He comes in the house a few times a day. Our other cats are growling and running from him. Today he came in the house and he didn't growl at anybody. It will take time, but he will fit in eventually. I'm so happy we found him, there are lots of Coyote's here and they like to eat outdoor animals.
I am amazed that I lost weight this week. I eat a lot, sometimes my lunch is too much and I save part of it for later. But then again its mostly squash and mushrooms with sauce and some shrimp and parmesan cheese. I had to spend 2 day's losing the water weight from the low salt seasoning I was craving.
@justanotherloser007 I would be happy to be Fog Sisters!! I actually play an on-line game to help me with my memory. It does help a lot. Plus we have themed building contests and I have to remember all of my inventory so I can build awesome rooms. I've won first place the last 18 contests and we only have 4 contests a year. Halloween is starting this week. I have no idea what I will build. I got organized last year so its easier to find things. I've also found that getting rid of the clutter / organizing in the house (which I'm working on slowly) also helps. The less stuff I have the less I have to remember.
Everybody is doing amazing this month. We will reach our goal weight eventually, 1 pound at a time. Just keep tracking and don't give up!6 -

@roz0810 what kind of challenge are you doing if you don’t mind me asking? Doing challenges is what got me working out regularly and walking more steps. I’m not doing any right now though.2

Weighed in a day early this week. Did a lot of weight/resistance training today and had too much sodium, so much water retention is going to be high tomorrow.
Victory for the week: Did 11 inclined pushups at the mid thigh level. That's one off from my September goal! Going to see if I can get to between 12 and 15 before the end of the month now. Plans to time my 1.5 mile on Thursday, but I'm going to need a "rest" day in between. (Still going to get my 10k steps, though. The puppy will make sure of that.)6 -
@jazzadesigns hey, it's just a challenge/thread I made myself on MFP, it's called Sept-Dec challange. I find it helps me keep focused and stick to my goals more1
-
OK, MFP Fam, I'm biting the bullet here and coming back.
I haven't done my food diary or logged my weight in 7 weeks, and I just checked and my last check-in here was July 30th.
So I'm here but I'm struggling to get back into my weight loss groove after losing 45# March-July.
Here's what happened:
Early August was the family vacation "down the shore" and a house guest the week after.
I did well on the vacation, weight wise. Only gained .7# over the week, which I was OK with, given all the temptations and daily frozen cocktails my uncle would whip up. But the houseguest - that was another story. Lots of eating out. And wine.
In addition to not measuring and not doing my food diary, I've totally stopped with my long dog walks in the evening - no energy!
The weight didn't pile on, but the habits got *really* bad, and my carb/sugar cravings came back with a vengeance.
Also, my sleep patterns got disturbed, and I wasn't consistent with my thyroid medication (not eating for 1-2 hours either side is a PITA!).
Now it's been almost 2 months, and I'm fighting to get back . I am *mostly* back on plan in terms of food, except the late-night snack. Still working on beating that particular devil. Being consistent with meds, sleep pattern still an issue. No exercise - I keep using work as an excuse.
Today I got on the scale for the first time in weeks. The news wasn't BAD-bad - I'm actually down a little. I attribute this to the good things I've learned on MFP: what normal portions look like, and good substitutions. But I just want to get back to all the good habits I had. I guess I will follow my previous advice to others and change 1 thing at a time. Wish me luck!

This month started off slow and frustrating! Finally started dropping weight though, and if I can drop another 1.8 lbs I'll reach my monthly goal.
Stuggles this month so far: My Birthday and the temptation to use that as an excuse to over eat.
Notable positives that motivate me:
-I am 5 lbs from getting into the Obese Class I category. Started Obese Class III
-This week my husband has joined in and started logging/pursing his own weight loss goals!
(Feel free to add me. I try to be as involved and supportive as I can😃)8 -

While I did have snacking binges Friday and Saturday, I kept it together the rest of the time, watched sodium levels more attentively (though I still went over sometimes), and drank more water. Lost three lbs!7 -
It's easy to slip and give in to temptations. Last night I had the urge to eat over my calorie limit, but ultimately I didn't and the feeling was so empowering! I was proud of myself and that put a big smile on my face vs the guilt of over indulgence.8

Yes, if I can just get past that urge—distracting myself works best—then I have found it'll pass and I feel triumphant.6 -

Lol I didn't say it was easy! But your right distractions work the best. I want to kick these extra pounds to the curb, stomp on them and NEVER see them again!! They are a blight, and weigh on my mind all the time. I want to think about something else for a change. And I want to look in a mirror and like what I see. I don't want to ever feel ashamed of myself again.
Each day I am learning how to live a healthier life. 40 days on MFP and counting!7 -

I get that. I also don't want to worry that I have every ailment under the sun. I'm tired of worrying. It's time for doing.

I normally weigh in on Sundays. I skipped Sunday and just weighed in today. Back to square one....250 pounds.
I'm in a dark place right now. I'm not suicidal or even close to it. What I am is broken, hurt and lost. I have dealt with blow upon blow upon blow these past 6 months and now this is a tipping point.
I'm trying desperately to not give up and to keep fighting. I'm also fighting the increasing desire to just give it up and walk away. I've wasted so much of my life being miserable and unhealthy. Why change now? Why not change now? My mind is swimming with questions!
I don't even want to go out in public right now I'm so disgusted with myself and how I look.
I'm not saying all this for your pity, I'm pitiful enough. I'm just putting out what's in my mind and on my heart because this seems to be the only place I can. I know there are some of you reading this who are/were in my shoes and some who are in a worse position. I'm not trying to make light of your circumstances and I honestly hope you'll do better than me and rise above your struggles.
I know I'm the only one who can change. I'm the only one who can do anything about this. I'm just so very tired. I also know if I don't stop now my life will soon take a very dangerous turn because my health is delicately hanging in the balance. You'd think that would be all the motivation I need.....sad isn't it?12 -
@renewed2021 ((((hugs)))) back to square 1 you may be, but you know how to get to square 2. I really really really believe in you! Have you successfully changed 1 habit? Maybe cling to that success until you are able to take that next step. Have you ever been stubborn or tenacious? Maybe apply that to your 1 good habit change. Re-center on that 1 good habit. I believe you were the one habit building? Sometimes when you build, it all falls down but you DO learn something. This thing worked, this thing didn't work. You can do this, it is very easy to give up. It is harder to keep plugging away after so many failures. Failure always comes before success, I think my favorite example of HWPO is Colonel Sanders. He failed 1,009 times, I don't think I can count that high!! And yet, if any of those 1,008 attempts he quit, he would NEVER have succeeded. No one would have heard of KFC chicken. Failure is normal, it takes real character to keep going after failure to get to the success that comes afterward. I had someone post this on my MFP thread once, "Sacrifice for what you want, or what you want will be the sacrifice."6
-
@Renewed2021 I'm so sorry you're feeling that way right now. And I know random tidbits of advice or encouragement may not be helpful or welcomed right now. But, my two cents, I don't think you're back to square one. 250 but making better fitness and nutritional choices is not the same as 250 and being sedentary/eating junk food. It's hard to roll with the punches, but if it makes you feel better, I gained 2.5 pounds one week this month- only half a pound less than yours. I log my weight every day for trend analysis and by random luck, my check in day for this forum wasn't on the day that showed a 2.5 pound gain.
I know the phrase "healthy at every size" is controversial, and I get why, but I have chosen to interpret that phrase as "making the daily commitment to choose one's health, regardless of weight." Some days, that commitment is harder than others. Maybe we on MFP need to do better about celebrating the commitment and process rather than just the results. So that's what I'm going to do. I am SO PROUD of you. You've dealt with blow upon blow in your health journey and have picked yourself back up again and again. You've put in the research to find out what's best for your body and self, and you've put that research to action. You've even allowed yourself to be vulnerable and put yourself out there in order to connect with women in a similar place in their weight loss journey. These are huge!
Today's a hard day. Tomorrow's probably also going to be a hard day. Not everyday is going to be a hard day. You've got this. Choose healthy at your goal weight. Choose healthy at 250. We're making that choice right beside you.7 -

Congrats! That's incredible. And you're so close to one-derland. Also, congrats on staying dedicated for 9 months. You've lost the weight of 10 babies in the amount of time it takes to make 1! lol. Can't wait to see where I'm at in month 9.6 -
@sandielewis2001 Grats that is wonderful!!
@kenziestabes I love that you do weight math in 7 lb baby increments. I LOVE babies, I think I will start doing this!2 -
Lol. Thanks. I like using random units of measurement to track progress. Newborn babies made sense because of the 9 month mark. In comparison, my dog is about 15 pounds, so I've lost about 1.2 [insert dog name here]s. Makes a good visual.3
-
@kenziestabes I also love visualizing pounds lost in terms of random objects or animals. I've lost roughly an Australian cattle dog, or two buckets of kitty litter. I do need to get kitty litter during this week's grocery run, maybe I'll pick up two of the buckets to just remind myself how far I've come.4
-
I've lost a car tire, two chihuahuas, and a rack of baby back ribs. XD

@sandielewis2001 congrats on losing 70 lbs!!! 🎉👏🏻👏🏻🍾
According to @sargemarcori’s chart I’ve lost an average human leg and a guinea pig. It’s a great way to compare!2 -
@goal06082021
When you pick up those 2 buckets you'll think "how did I carry this around day in and day out?" But we all did.7 -

That waiting it out is SO annoying, @patriciafoley1 But you are making great progress!1
-
I love all of the weight comparisons! I think my next goal is to lose as much as my monster dog weighs - 93 lbs!
