12/28: 149.7 - I’ve been holding at this weight for the last 4 days, which considering the snacking and sweets that I’ve had isn’t too bad. This round I’m going to be focused on upping my protein so I can at least hit my 20% macro goal.
12/29: 149.7 - Worked out, ate within calories
12/30: 149.7 - Will need to change something to get things moving again
12/31: 149.7 - I have not been good about my eating lately. However, excited to end this year down and wearing my smaller clothes from a decade before.
1/01: 149.7 - Happy New Year! Didn’t get a workout in, but managed to eat sensibly yesterday.
1/02: 148.6 - Imagine that, working out and eating sensibly for a couple of days helps you lose weight.
1/03: 148.6 - I didn’t eat after 8pm, but I shouldn’t have eaten the last bit of sweets
1/04: 149.7 - Oh dear. Back to where I’ve been since mid-December. I’ve added a daily walk on top of my daily aerobics dance and core workout. However, I think the sweets may be doing me in.
1/05: 147.9 - That’s more like it. I had planned for some greek yogurt and dried fruit to help up my protein, but I just wasn’t hungry enough to eat it, so overall protein continues to be lower than I want.
1/06: 148.6 - Was hoping to end this challenge on a better note, but I think I’m doing all the right things. Will have to wait the scale out.

12/28 118.0 AF Nice visit yesterday with friend. Ate at Romero’s in Pahrump. So sad that Red Sky BBQ is permanently closed. They had the most beautiful side salad! Sort of surprised by the drop as I ate some house made chips and salsa and whatever refried beans were stuck to the cheese - probably not more than a tablespoon, really. LOL
12/29 117.5 AF 1/2 of Great Greek salad with steak. Going to the restaurant supply with daughter and friends this morning. Ate 1/2 an apple with Smucker’s Natural PB last night.

Thanks for the ideas! I really only like eggs when they're scrambled, so getting up a few minutes early in the morning to make a sandwich or burrito will help. More meal prepping! 😂 I just bought my first whey protein, and I like the idea of mixing it with OJ. Thanks!!1 -
12/28 - 253lbs Starting this new challenge, and trying to get back on track after the holiday season. I’ve been successful for the last 6 months, but I have another year before reaching my goal weight. Keeping motivated and finding accountability is SO important to me right now!
12/29 - 251lbs I’m back to planning my meals and the difference is amazing. Way less snacking and so much easier to stay in my goal. The next goal is to really focus on adding way more fruit and vegetables to my meals.
12/30 - 250lbs Today was laundry day (SOOO thankful that Husband has taken over that duty) while packing for NYE weekend and it turned into a little closet cleaning. It’s bittersweet putting old (now too big for me) clothes in the sell/donate bin. Some pieces I’m happy to get them out, but a few others that I’ve had for years are sometimes difficult to let go. But they don’t fit anymore and that’s a great thing! I have fewer clothes and I don’t really have familiar pieces since I keep having to purchase new (smaller) items, so it’s more stressful getting dressed, but this time next year I’ll be at my final goal weight and I can build a full wardrobe then.
12/31 - 249lbs I’m back to my pre- Christmas Weight, but it’s also NYE so I’m guessing it’ll go back up tomorrow. #worthit Happy New Years, Pals!
1/1 - No scale access It was a lazy day with few calories burned, but only over my calorie goal a little. I’m calling it a win.
1/2 - No scale access We’re heading home today so another day sitting in the car. We’ve been craving Olive Garden and our nearest one is 3 hours away. So we ate lunch, and I have enough left for 2 more lunches this week. The break has been wonderful. But I’m ready to get back into a routine.
1/3 249.5 I couldn’t believe it, after 3 lazy days and overeating I only gained 1/2 a pound. I can tell a few places where I can see the lifestyle changes happening in my life. The first (and it might seem ridiculous to others) is that when I don’t like something- I don’t eat it, even if I’ve already started eating it. I’m feeling more in control of my food rather than the other way around. At breakfast yesterday, the eggs were terrible and halfway through I just stopped eating them. Why was I forcing myself to eat something I didn’t want? I even left half a piece of bacon on my plate because it was soggy and fatty. I don’t think I’ve ever left bacon uneaten. Cheers to actually changing my life and making new habits!
1/4 - 252lbs I guess my weekend finally caught up with the scale. I was slight disappointed(although not completely surprised) by the gain. But a few minutes later, while getting dressed for PD day, I realized that none of my jeans fit - they are all too big! So I guess I lost a few inches even if I gained back a few pounds. I’m working on filling up with protein and water today and I scheduled a shopping trip for tomorrow.
1/5 - 250lbs The holidays are almost over, we had Husband’s staff Winter Party last night, so a few drinks (and an AMAZING home brewed raspberry cream soda) pushed me over my calorie limit. But, I’m having a great morning. I’m doing the MFP challenge for 2 weeks and really focusing on getting a lot of protein into my meals. Do you have any tips/tricks to add more protein to your foods?
1/6 - 249lbs I’ve lost 4 pounds over the last 10 days, but just 1/2 pound from the last month. I’m impressed going through all of the holiday season and pretty much maintaining. It’s way better than my previous years which was: gain through the whole year and double gains during the holidays. I’ve started 2022 off well, and I’m going to keep on keeping on.

SW: 383.4 - Round # 40 for me! (5100 steps daily step goal, go to bed by 11:30, no eating out or junk food 6 days a week)

12/28 383.4 – 5038 steps. I almost got my step goal, started too late. Eating ok, not the best even though I was under goal.
12/29 382.8 – 5469 steps. 2 days in a row doing short walks which helps and staying within calories.
12/30 381.0 – 5221 steps. No walk yesterday. Under calories. May not be under today, will try for sure. This group is really helping me be mindful of logging and what I eat. Just knowing I am sharing and reading some of the posts when I can helps me.
12/31 381.0 – 5235 steps. I am surprised, I thought I would be up. I had the munchies, but I logged it all and I was not too much over. Got in a short walk. The weekends are tough for me. I have a Zoom event Saturday. But I am going to start 2022 off right!
01/01 379.4 – 3739 steps. This drop is unexpected. I doubt it will stick with todays eats. We will see. If not, its ok. Back on track tomorrow.

01/05 381.6 – 5853 steps. Another good day. Patience, patience, patience. My body does this. I had a good calorie deficit and will keep on going. No junk food and I have been going to bed on time too. My avg. hours of sleep this week is over 7 hours and for me that is great! I will have a loss this round and I will take it!
01/06 380.0 – 6110 steps. Happy dance! Close to goal. Going forward, I am just going to focus on my actions and weighing daily and losing something each challenge not so much how much I lose. If I focus on my main goals I will lose 2 to 3 pounds each round at my current weight.

My journey … "I May Not Be Where I Want To Be, but I’m Not Where I Use To Be!"In 2003 Weighed over 600 lbs.My highest weight was 611 in 2003. Weight in 2004 before weight loss surgery was 580. I joined MFP on March 27, 2010 weighing in at 388 pounds. I was re-gaining weight and stumbled up on it while trying to get back on track. I was determined never to see 400+ on that scale again for me.
I have been morbidly obese all my life. I have a lifetime of mental and physical scars from obesity. In October 2004 I had Gastric Bypass surgery. WLS (Weight Loss Surgery) was the best gift that I could and did give to myself.
Between 2008 and 2010 I gradually gained back 80 of almost 300 pounds lost initially after weight loss surgery. I never reached my goal weight of 200 pounds. I still managed to keep off over 65 percent of the weight I lost which is very good and I am very proud of my accomplishments since 2004. It has literally changed my life for the better on all levels. I am here to lose re-gained weight and to reach my initial goal weight. I am in no hurry. I am taking this one day at a time and I am in it for the long haul.
Surgery did not fix the head. It is a good tool and the best gift I have given to myself, but it was not the easy way out as many people think. Once the honeymoon period is over after the WLS it is up to the patient to keep the weight off.
On August 29, 2011-- I was admitted to Intensive Out Patient Eating Disorder Program to learn how to manage my binge eating disorder effectively. The program is wonderful indeed and will be instrumental in me reaching all of my goals. The focus of this program was how to eat and not diet. Weight loss was not a goal of the program. I actually gained 20 pounds in program. But I had to get thru a lot of stuff and my the time I was released I had stopped gaining. I was discharged from program on December 3, 2011.
My tool is still working for me today. My head is still the issue. SO the struggle continues. I will never beat myself up again. I fight the fine fight faithfully and positively everyday. Because that is what will get me to my goals one day. Even though it may not show up on the scale every day -- Everyday I make progress one way or another just by showing up, waking up and trying.
Giving up is not an option for me. Perseverance, Patience, & Positive thinking will help me reach my goals…… and the same is true for you too!! We have the power within us.

12/29 141.5 I have not yet gotten back to weighing everything, but am logging. Yesterday was a family birthday meal out at a restaurant and I did well in my food selection. Today is another restaurant meal. My husband is choosing the restaurant and hasn't made a decision yet, so I won't be able to review the calorie counts until I am there. Some restaurants don't have calorie counts on their menu, but I can guess fairly well what would be a lower calorie choice. Forgot again this time to state a Round goal; I added it up above.

12/31 142.6. Well, I don't think that I posted my weight for yesterday; I don't see a post. It has been very hectic for the past couple weeks (as for many!). I gave up on logging partway today (eating was typical, it's just that there have been so many dishes with unknown calorie counts!). I'm hoping I get back in the groove with all this; there is great need to do so, lol! I'm not happy with the uptick, but I fully believe it was warranted (higher calorie counts, probably higher carbs than typical, and higher salt). I am very impressed with so many of you who have maintained or lost weight during this holiday season!
1/1 141.6 Although I am still high from the Christmas uptick, I have continued my workouts throughout all of this. I enjoy working out (so very glad for this!) and am seeing some results.

1/3 140.5. Logging most items, most days, but not weighing, but being mindful, estimating only, certainly over calories, not necessarily over maintenance the last couple days. Going 'down the hill' today, into the Denver area. This always involves eating lunch at a restaurant, making logging even more difficult.
1/4 141.5 Still not yet back in the groove. (!) I started this adventure mid-Oct and had a one week vacation, Thanksgiving, and Christmas (and not being low calorie during those times). I was able to get back in the flow of things following the vacation (gained a pound a day then, whaaa?), but each of the holidays was a challenge. I only have 6.5 more pounds and sufficient time to lose it for my goal, but, but, but... I am so impressed with everyone else's discipline, especially for those with much to lose. I usually want to workout, but today, I'm not feeling the elliptical. I will still do the stretching, PT exercises, and weight lifting, though. Elliptical TBD. No upcoming events or meals at a restaurant for the next week or more. Today's lunch (our big meal of the day) is smoked/grilled chicken, leftover veggies and some roasted broccoli, and pasta with olive oil and fresh sage. No reason to not meet my calorie budget today.
1/5 141.4 Well, yesterday I did use the elliptical machine, but didn't do the strength training part of my workout. Will do all of it today in minute or so.
1/6. 141.4. Ending the Round with a loss, but not really. I started the Round high due to holiday eating. I haven't lost the rest of that weight due to, very clearly, not buckling down to the task at hand. I have only been loosely logging, although I do exercise probably six days out of each week. And yet, thank goodness, it didn't go even higher! I am trying to get back in the game. Sometimes when I read other posts, in this thread or others, of some of the things others are going through in their life, it appalls me to think that I can't get back to following my calorie budget when others can with so much going on in their lives. Yeah, I realize that thinking that doesn't help me (or them!), but it is what I'm thinking. Rightly or wrongly, this same kind-of thinking did put me on a good exercise path. I realized that I have no excuse whatsoever to not exercise most days since I'm retired. Most days are fairly wide open. My husband and I have made a concerted effort to schedule 'things' (whatever they may be) late morning, to both get our exercising done, do the task, and then have lunch. I am so looking forward to a new 'fresh' Round, hoping that my 'tude (attitude) gets turned back around. See you on the flip side, lol!7 -

12.28 - 157.8 This is a drop of almost a pound from yesterday. I feel like it may not be accurate. We are celebrating Sinterklaas today (dh is from NL), so that will be a challenge! Poffertjes, Dutch pancakes, letter cookies and more. I will enjoy but will try not to overdo things. (We celebrate so late b/c our grown kids want to celebrate - so we wait until they're in town with us to do that.)
12.29 - 160.2 😳 Maybe it's not all real, but a jump was not unexpected - though this is a large jump. I did indulge in the festivity goodies last night, and we started quite late so didn't finish until midnight. I'll use this as a reminder from my body to eat well and exercise today! 😊 I'll keep on keepin' on!

1.6 - 160.0 Went over yesterday by a little bit - snacked in the evening. No exercise. . . .busy + cold outside -- need to rejoin rec center or find videos I can do inside. Don't want to lose cardio from jogging, though. Not happy to end here, but I started with a weight I wasn't sure was accurate (too low). At least, I'm not at my highest point of the last 10 days!
Onward to the next 10 days!! This is a long journey, not a short sprint. At least it is at age 54! 😄

Goals: keep things back in a mild deficit with 110-140g protein until vacation, lift and cardio until vacation, be more moderate on the treats than I was during Christmas while at the cabin, do lots of fun physical activity while in Colorado, right back to previously scheduled activities when I get home

Previous Posts12/28 My brother and his family are in town now and the rare times I get to see them are even more rare in Covid times, so I did a quick workout this morning and then spent the day at my parents house with everyone. Diet was suboptimal. It will continue to be suboptimal through vacation next week and that’s alright 😄

1/6 151 👋 back from Colorado. Lots of fun, snowboarding, food, and relaxing. I’m definitely ready to get back into my routine after all of that holiday-ing. It’s very cold and windy here today so running errands was not super fun! Did a clean, push press, squat, burpee workout this morning. Had a lentil and kidney bean soup with seitan for lunch. Leg day with lots of Bulgarian split squatting 🤮. Lentil and mushroom curry with tofu for dinner. Covid picked up a lot around here during the holidays and it sounds like the hospital is chaotic again. Already facing staffing problems + now a lot of staff is out with Covid. There are enough Covid patients that they are relocating my unit (neuro ICU) to a different floor (for the fourth time since Covid started) tomorrow. So back to work and get to deal with relocating ~12 ICU patients. Protein: 1599 -

12/29 171.8 lunch with my friend. Caesar salad dressing on side with shrimp. Decided not to order fries on side. Picked up Crumbl cookies and cut in fourths to share. One glass red wine in the evening. I think I had one square of a mini Hershey bar which is good for me lol. Cycle started.
Hit my 10k step count goal with some overage.

12/31 171.6. Made trial run of paksiw in the pressure cooker and it was great. I did indulge. Enjoyed New Years eve with my little guy. Had fresh popped popcorn and a glass of red wine to ring in the new year.

1/1 172.6. Feeling very bloated this morning. I enjoyed my meals yesterday. It's New Year's 2022. Cooked (paksiw) filipino style for lunch with oxyails and beef back ribs. Sparkling peach cider after lunch. For dinner we had New York strips. We made a New Years cake from scratch. Chocolate cake with chocolate buttercream layers and vanilla buttercream on the outside. My son loves to bake and was so excited about baking a new years cake. Now what to do with the rest of the cake 🤔

1/2 172.6. I'm happy to weigh the same as yesterday and surprised it didn't go up. This gives me hope for this round. I feel bloated. Starting yoga challenge with Adrienne today. I love her videos. I got a yoga mat from my secret santa and I can't wait to use it today.

You can do this! Just make little changes at a time. Start logging accurately, including weighing your food, even on those days when you go over calories. Log your weight each day and you'll be able to see how what you eat relates to fluctuations in your weight. Someone recommended Happy Scale to me early on. It's an app that looks at trends over time. That's been really helpful when I'm struggling.
I've seen people recommend taking things at a slower rate. Set your calories to losing a half pound a week and see what happens. Try to be lower than that calorie level at least half of the time.
Don't give up and stay engaged in the MFP community. This is the first time I'm confident that I'm going to hit my goal weight after decades of struggle. This community is helping me change my life.2 -
