What is your "Petty" Reason to Lose Weight?

Moved out of my small hometown as the awkward, overweight tall girl. Want to go back as the gorgeous, tall, muscular/action hero-y woman. Want to go to a comic convention dressed as various kick-butt characters (Wonder Woman, Cara Dune, etc) and actually look like I could kick your butt. Basically warrior goddess vibes.21

I am going on a birthday cruise in six months and I want to wear my red bikini. It is one of the last things my ex husband bought me. We loved to cruise together. Nothing will be better than cruising without him and looking super hot.
I’m going on a beach trip with girlfriends in six months and I, too, want to wear a red bikini. Or black. Or one with flowers. I literally have a drawer full of cute two pieces that I never feel good about wearing. I want to feel good when I put it on - and not “good for today” or “ehhh good enough.” Like, slap it on and let’s go tan! Or swim! Or snorkel! Or anything except shift around on my towel trying not to be all lumpy looking for the group photos…

For the last several years (with the exception of last year), my friends and I go on a boys weekend. Simply put, I am tired of being the fat friend.20

My petty reason is that when my wife and I took our son to Canada's Wonderland, I was too fat to fit on the roller coasters. The bars that hold you in couldn't close and lock so I was asked to step off the rides. That was a huge blow to my ego, not to mention the fact that my son had to ride those coasters all by himself. Also, I hate not being able to buy clothes off the rack from most stores. I have to shop at big and tall stores that have a terrible selection of clothing to choose from.18

I want to be slimmer and more successful than my petty and spoiled cousin. Now I feel sorry for her. She fat and sickly and unhappy with her life. She's still my cousin and I care about her.6

To fit into pretty stylish 😎 clothes and look good naked without them 😁. Oh and feel good wearing a swim suit.9

My favourite bollywood actor is getting married in December. I'm not invited but still I'd like to slim down a bit by the D-Day😂😂💪🤞💃👫7

My reason to lose weight 3 years ago was because my cardiologist said losing weight would NOT bring my numbers down and he wanted to put me on 5 different meds. When my numbers were just borderline. I noped right on out of that office. Went back 6 months and 30 pounds lighter just to prove him wrong. I ended up losing a total of 90 pounds. No meds. I'm back now because, honestly, I just like how my clothes fit when I was at 145 instead of 173, so back at it.16

I have a swimsuit hanging on my closet door as a reminder ( It has been there Forever. Literally 2 years) . I would love to see myself wearing it and feeling actually confident. In two years, when I hit the big 40, I want to feel and look fabulous! AND wear that dang swimsuit! (also I want to be the snack not eat the snack )10

My client likes to do activities on the floor, I would like to be able to cross my legs like he does5

Another petty/ not-so petty reason: One of my good friends is super athletic. Her idea of a fun Sunday afternoon activity is hiking up a mountain or kayaking on a river. I like those things too, and I've joined her on the latter! That said, I could tell I was slowing her down. I want to be able to keep up with her no problem.14

Recently took a trip and just didn't like how I was looking. I'm strong and healthy, good fashion too, but I honestly look a bit soft. And considering where I live, how you look is a big focal point in people's lives. So I just wanna look good in my pictures 😂9

I want to feel like I look good naked which is a mission at 46yrs old - but I'm getting there 😁10

Not petty but... back in 1987 I took a photo of myself next to an old WW2 aircraft. I was 23. I was slim. The aircraft has travelled a few hundred km to a new museum, and I want to recreate the photo, similar clothing, similar body size.23

To prove my mom, who is the biggest nay-sayer I’ve ever known, wrong. Mainly, though, because I want to feel fit and healthy.15

I've just decided that I'm going to lose the weight - period. I'm sick of my excuses, I'm sick of giving in to "comfort" and being "okay" with life in general - doing so (in other areas of my life as well) did a grand job of screwing me over during the covid mess, and I'm not about to ever fall for that trap again. It's going to take daily consistency, 2.5 months down, rest of my life to go.
It's really not a petty reason, but my petty reason now is probably similar to what it was - I want to be at the track, rocking my ride, and having the body to go with my results.9 -

I have also cut way back. So glad not to rely on it as a crutch and necessity. When I see alcoholic behavior, it just reminds me how I don't want to end up that way. It's also not good for your health. Oh, and the feeling the day after...no thank you. For those reasons, not petty. For just calories... maybe...but I don't think you should feel petty about making a healthier choice for your body.6 -

Goes without saying, we all want to look good…. Having spent 10 years badly out of shape my goal was to get back to how I was in my early 20s, took me almost a year of hard work but I achieved this back in 2019, COVID hit, and I’m almost back where I started…. And in need of encouragement.
But my daft reason for wanting to lose it, back when I first started my weight loss journey was my ex wife and the hurtful things she would say…. that gave me the drive to prove her wrong!
