What is your "Petty" Reason to Lose Weight?

I really want to get into nike/Reebok/(insert a major brand) trackpants. They don't do plus size in nike here in India. It's only from xs to xl. And my big @$$ won't fit into it. Kinda defeats the purpose of selling workout gear when you won't design it for people who need it the most🤔🤦17

My "petty" reason is because I'm sick of being the biggest girl in the room.18

My petty reason is because my abusive ex-husband and his sister both tormented me about my weight while I was I the throes of an binge eating disorder. He's leaving on deployment and I want to show my growth as a person and my strong af body I fought for. I can't wait to see both of their faces when he returns and we restart child visitations and I'm the healthiest and strongest I've ever been. I want to show them that they tried to break me and I took that and turned it into something that strengthened me more than their horrible, cutting words.30

Just one woman's opinion, but that doesn't seem petty to me. It seems righteous, brave, bold, strong. Go, you!20 -
I want to look hot wearing a cute bikini on the beach! And not be ashamed - I want to feel joy doing this.16

To look and feel great on my up coming solo vacation!
Not only that but I’m to feel confident all the time, especially undressed.10 -
Not sure if it’s petty or from my deep self-esteem issues but when someone looks at me in public I would like my first thought NOT to be “I know I’m fat and weirdly shaped so please stop looking at me!”19

Several years ago, a nurse made a comment re me being susceptible to gallbladder issues that has haunted me since. FFF. Fat, Fifty, Female. More recently, was on a Europe trip where women older than me were climbing hills like billy goats. Hopefully will be going on a river cruise next year, and I want to be the billy goat!!16

Because it looks like I'm going to have a breast reduction as well as an abdominoplasty in my future, and I want the surgeon to take me down to a B cup, not leave me at a F because that's "proportional." I'm going to have to do physical therapy before the reduction (insurance requirement) and I want to be able to have the physical therapist realize no, my rhomboids and traps and lats and core are strong, despite my weight, despite the J cups I'm hauling around. And while I won't be at goal when I have the initial visit to the plastic surgeon, I want to be able to have lost more weight this year, so that when I say "I'm still losing weight and it would be easier if I have less breasts," I can be telling the truth.16

lmao i have a sister in law who liked to make comments about how i use to be the skinny friend and now shes the skinny friend... when there i was not even caring at all and apparently she thought we were in some sort of weir competition.. so when i decided i was ready to really loose the weight her comments definitely came to mind and were a nice motivation.. since those comments shes gained.. ive lost all i had gained plus some15

I want to be the dad my kids are proud to introduce to their friends, not the one they fear ever being seen. The other day my son came into the kitchen to get a snack while I was preparing dinner, holding a conversation with his friend. Apparently the topic was working out and looking good for the ladies, because upon seeing me the friend started asking me for workout tips, how much I could bench, etc. Was immensely gratified after, I tell you what.21

Look good in a swimsuit8

The petty thing keeping me going is that even though I've gained about 10lbs during the pandemic, I haven't gained nearly as much as the people I know who relied on keto, who are at square one again. Bless them. :')11

Joining FB, I have resisted until now because I don't want random acquaintances finding me and their first thought being, wow - she got really fat! So that's one of my petty rewards for the future.19

I want my face to look slimmer and younger. That's it!!13

In the parents line picking up their kids I want to be one of the attractive moms that still has it even though I'm almost 30 with a 9yr old daughter.10

I want to look better than my exes new wife.
Not like I want that skidstain back, but he treated me *kitten* and I want him to regret it because everyone else will always be a downgrade after me.🤷♀️10 -

Mine too. I have been off Facebook for 9 years... always said that I would rejoin when I was comfortable with myself...hit the "overweight" category for the first time in 7 years today!10 -
Because it's none of your darn business what I have in my cart, you disapproving, silent strangers, and I really want the looks to stop. Especially since I shop for my husband, who has the metabolism of a greyhound and likes his weekly snacks and sodas from Costco. No one noticed when I was thin!14

This really sucks when it happens! When I experience it I'm like you're not paying for it so easy with the judgement😤6 -
My daughter is graduating this year. I don't want to be fat in her pictures.8

The reason I want to lose weight is petty and not so petty. Mainly I've been going through a lot of self-exploration and I have realized that I'm non-binary/gender fluid (she/they pronouns). But I've got bigger boobs and hips and I don't like them. So I'd like to lose weight/gain muscle so my outside matches more of the picture I have of myself in my head.16

I thought of another reason. This thread is fun!
Next year I have to get another driver's license picture. 4 years ago I weighed 125 pounds, and that's the driver's license picture I still have. More observant people kind of do a double take when they check my ID. It's actually a good picture, too. Most of mine have always looked like mugshots!
I would really rather hold on to it and get it replaced when it expires and have a decent picture on it next year, and a much lower weight!6 -

My daughter is trans, male to female, and I was worried she would get too thin when she moved out, because she isn't small boned, and estrogen can pack on pounds, but instead she and her fiancée have become amazing, healthy cooks. She is happier than she ever was, and I hope you will be, too!13 -

Bless you! Because you just gave me another petty reason to lose weight. I lost over 100 pounds on a ketogenic diet, and I kept it off for over 7 years. But now it's back, and I don't want to be a keto fail!6 -
My dh recently started trying to lose weight and now his pants can literally fall off. I'm jealous and kicking myself for staying a size don't want to be.7 -
I want to look good in cute clothes that don't cost as much money as the "plus size' version. Also want to looks good for my wedding.9

Mean girls. It's not just a HS thing. I have had a series of "friends" who have all lost weight and lorded it over me in some way or another. Now they've all gained it back, with interest. I've managed to keep most of it off with a few set backs, but have never peaked that way again. I'm actually way stronger and healthier than I was during most of my 30's and 40's. AND LORD KNOWS I KNOW THIS IS PETTY AND MEAN, but the one who was the most awful is over 340 lbs now, can barely walk, and is virtually unrecognizable. Another one, who actually had surgery, has gained it all back and then some, and is constantly posting about her low carb meals and walks and some kind of supplement thing she was selling for a bit on FB seems like she's perpetually on the weightloss quest, but none of her pictures seem to reflect any progress. My goal is to never, ever, get that big again, and to never, ever, act like they did towards me. (Except for in here, because you ASKED...)15

I am going on a birthday cruise in six months and I want to wear my red bikini. It is one of the last things my ex husband bought me. We loved to cruise together. Nothing will be better than cruising without him and looking super hot.19
