Hi all..beautiful sunny day here, but still only about 40, so chilly & windy!
@trooworld I love the picture of you & the dog. Maybe I should look into that..I kinda would like a dog again, but dh says we go too much to have one. Well..we haven't in the last 2 years, but..? You asked if I had to take bp meds, no..but I was looking back & I realize I had lost some weight when it came back down. I am kinda scared to go now, I was about 5# lighter than I am. So I am putting my checkup off for a few weeks, lol. I don't have any other concerns, so shouldn't hurt.
@TeresaW1020 Congrats on your Mom winning the chili cookoff. Cute picture of her! I agree with slightedge, family comes first, I am sure the church will understand, you already do so much for them. Do you think some of your dh's confusion is just a side effect from the anesthesia? Maybe time will help that.
@cbabie I know how you feel...we spent the day with friends that we hadn't seen in a long time, and I overdid the food, too. I had one of her frosted sugar cookies, too, and they weren't even home made, lol. I am trying to keep logging, tho, & drinking water. I walked on the treadmill, too, before we went. We will get this eventually!
@theslightedgeforever Oops on the wall!! I do think people can get off BP meds & control it with diet & exercise. I am hoping I am doing enough to keep from going on them. We have a gas fireplace..it is kinda fun to just turn on the switch & it starts, lol. I have never had one until this house. Congrats on the new tv. I think I am going to order a firestick or roku for the tv down by the treadmill. It would be nice to do exercise videos, too. I have some dvds but cannot figure out how to get them to play, so maybe streaming would work better for me.
Not much else here. Dh is getting so bored with winter that we are thinking of driving to OK for a few days to see dd & gkids & my brother & sil. Their weather hasn't been a whole lot better than ours, but it would be something to do. But if we decide to go, we can't do it until Sat. (he is still on call for jury duty through Feb, so has to call in Friday after 4:30pm to see for the next week)
Well, think my Fitbit should be charged by now, so think I will go down & finish up my walking. Did 30 minutes this morning, but not up to my 10,000 yet, so better go do a little more.

Morning all, only went for a quick walk yesterday, and eating was sporadic, so not good, but I did track. Water was not so good either...oh I forgot we took baby girl to the park yesterday...up and down the slide..LOL I feel like all my weight is in my gut...I seem to be dwarfing into my mom's body shape...not good..thinking about watching how many carbs I am eating...since I don't like anything but chicken and I am bored with my menus, I think I have been eating too many carbs...and it's plopping in my middle area.LOL
@trooworld good for you with the videos..yes I think I would do the app too!!! I think we also need to increase our water..LOL
@theslightedgeforever oh I see why you don't care about your fireplace...I wouldn't like a fake one either..we had a wood burning in our house in IL, but we also has installed fans to blow the heat out into the house..this one does not have that, but DH gets the fire so hot you are stripping your outfits down to summer wear..LOL
@RetiredAndLovingIt My DH was bored to...so he bought a video game and he was up until 2am playing it..I am like well I guess I won't feel bad for you when you have to get up and have only 8 hours sleep...LOL. (he usually needs like 10 or more). Yes we will get this!!

@retiredandlovingit Yaaay on your walking. I got a new firestick for my new TV but still haven't used either one yet. lol So I do things the old fashioned way of connecting my gym TV via Chromecast with my phone and do my exercise videos from that. My dd was trying to teach me that I could just speak to the firestick and it would find what I want versus me searching by hand and saying each letter first out loud G-O-O-D I drove her nuts this summer. She always said she could have the whole show watched by the time I found the program I was looking for. My kids would say you are having springtime weather and be out in shorts.
I always say wait until they are old.
@trooworld I must be the only one on here that doesn't like sugar cookies. I like the smell. I have some sugar and vanilla hand cream I like to smell. I lose more weight when I hit the carb goal and stay within the calorie limits. 82 degrees sounds good to me.
@cbabie Mom had big hips and bottom so I hope you aren't morphing into her.Yaay on getting in some movement at the park. Just keep working on your food plan. Eventually you will find something you like.
Went to a friend's house yesterday. Did well on food. Planned for the dessert I brought. Did NOT plan on the 1/2 piece I ate straight out of the pan when I got back home.

Hello! I'm popping on to let you know that I've been missing because I had to take DH to the hospital on Tuesday. He was having really bad confusion again so they told me to take him to the ER. They did a ton of tests and ruled out a stroke. His sodium was low again and he could have had a mini TIAA. We got home a little while ago and I am exhausted and he is still not acting all there. I have so much going on right now so if you don't hear from me, know that I'm thinking of you all and will pop back in when I can.2

Morning all I did't do well yesterday...another driving crazy day. Seemed like I was in the car more that out..made hamburgers on the grill, I only had one, but that Potato Bun called my name. LOL. My allergies are horrible..I finally took a daytime NyQuil pill this morning...LOL

@teresaw1020 Take care. Being a caregiver can be really hard. Plus you have your mom there too. I do hope when hubby is resting you find some time to rest yourself. Go for a walk or whatever me time you need.
@trooworld Not even frosted sugar cookies will get me to eat them. I wonder where that started. Well actually probably having them around could be a good thing versus other types of cookies as I would maybe take half and then nothing else. Same for no bake cookies. I don't like those either. PB cookies. Nope. Unless it has a big hersheys kiss in the middle. But those with the fork marks.Yaaay for a stellar day you had. That was great that you cooked instead of getting a pizza. Husbands can be our worst enemies. Yes I know the next day you had pizza but celebrate your wins.
@cbabie Potato buns are good. How about half a bun next time? Another good way is take take the top half and slice it in half so you have a top and bottom.
I've spent the last 2 days celebrating my bday. At least I tracked it all this time. Progress from last year.

@trooworld I am sure that it's hard to see your BIL in that kind of condition so understandable that you turned to comfort food. That has been my struggle for months now.And at least you are walking those dogs so hopefully that will help with the extra calories. Yum on the homemade lasagna!! What I wouldn't give for a big plate of that!!!
Hello everyone! Hubby is doing well and got his port put in this morning and is just a little sore right now. I manage to catch a cold but tested negative, which is good, but I still feel like crap. I have a good friend who tested positive and has zero symptoms. We joked on the phone that our tests must have gotten switched.Right now I’m just trying to juggle home and work life. I’ve been learning my husband's bookkeeping system and fixing it, so I understand what is going on. He had been messing up for a few months and not wanting to tell me. Yeah, we had a come to Jesus moment about honesty.
My eating has been so so and I’ve not worked out in over a week. One day at a time is my motto!

Morning all, This week has been a struggle with emotions...why oh why do we have emotions.. (well the bad ones). LOL. It seems we all struggle with something or someone in our lives. My job is to learn how to handle and when I don't handle well, don't beat myself up..I am learning that is just plain abuse. So it's better to look at how the emotions took over, then look at can you change your behavior or change what caused the emotion? Then, ask God to help you find the good and move on. Keep taking baby steps in the right direction and you will end up at your destination, no matter how long you travel. LOL
I got a new samsung watch..(didn't really want it). but I have been wearing my fitbit and the samsung..I still like my fitbit..the only real difference I see is the samsung has more measuring tools than my fitbit. Like body fat...(no we won't be telling what that says). LOL
@trooworld I am so glad you got to see your BIL and sorry the comfort food took over, but its what we need sometimes. I am learning I never addresses my grief and that is NOT good..So I know you are going to turn your boat around, you are very mindful of what causes the gain/loss and like you say Change is your motto..LOL. You have handled things in a positive manner and that is great.
@TeresaW1020 I remember my mom's port..hopefully DH will be feeling less pain quickly. You have a lot on you, so take deep breaths and the cold is just a part of the process...I know when my body gets sick it's because I didn't get enough rest and I have let my immune system get weak..so keep taking care of you and your family and you will soon see the benefits.. LOL. prayers to you guys..

@trooworld Yaaay on your good choice with the lasagna. Can you tie in your water with an activity? Something you will do everyday. So if you are doing that you are also drinking a cup of water. I need to change mine because I have one that says if I'm in the kitchen cooking then I'm having some water. Dh ordered delivery yesterday so guess who didn't drink water. I went out for breakfast this morning so no kitchen and no water. Maybe the 2 lbs is lack of water. Is your body holding on to some?
@teresaw1020 thank you. You were talking to @trooworld about watching loved ones struggle with health and turning to food for comfort. I gained 15 lbs when my mom was first diagnosed with cancer. It didn't help one bit with her cancer just made me unhealthier. So easy to do though. What is your comfort plan for the upcoming days? What other things comfort you? I guess best thing is not keep a lot of junk easy to grab in the house. Although having said that, I ate a lot of toast in those days. There's always bread and butter in my house. Come here and talk to us if you need to. Come to Jesus moment. LOL Hope you feel better.

@theslightedgeforever I agree that me gaining a bunch of weight isn’t going to help me or DH so I’m taking steps to get myself back under control. I don’t have much of a comfort plan right now other than working to get all our ducks in a row. I’ve been obsessed with getting the finances turned over to me in a way that I understand, which means making his spreadsheets more cohesive and prettier. The man has no sense of color!
@trooworld Yup, eating healthier meals is a good idea. And with your recipe collection, you should have no problem finding or tweaking whatever you want to make.
Hello everyone! Well, Joe has done amazing so far with his first round of chemo. We were all prepared for him to be awful and other being a little more tired he feels great and has no other symptoms. We understand that he could still go through some sickness, so we aren’t letting down our guard, but we are both really happy right now. I went and cleaned the rest of the church today called that enough exercise since I’m still dealing with the end of this cold of mine. Tomorrow I plan to get back to workouts. There are 30 days until the first day of spring and I’m mindful that I need my spring clothes to fit or I will be in trouble.

@roz0810 Aren't fitbits fun? Although I don't get as excited as I used to when I got my first one. On Thursday I was cooking and suddenly panicked when I realized my fitbit wasn't on. It has been known to fall off. I thought I lost it but then found it on the charger which meant I had spent half the day getting loads of steps but not one of them counted. My body knows. I can't remember my username. I even tried looking it up on fitbit. Let me ask someone. I really don't use the friends part anymore. Evidently I'm only competitive in games.
@gemwolf110 Are you okay now? Good thing you didn't break anything. How is the food intake these days?
@teresaw1020 Did you do your workout? Ducks in a row is a comfort tool I think. The world goes smoother when we feel in control of something. I'm laughing at you color coding his spreadsheets. It's like my Trello boards. I've seen some templates and think these are really boring when they could be so much more fun than just words. Yaaay on round one of chemo out of the way.

I am recovering from a dinner party I threw (why do we use that word or is it only me that uses that word) on Thursday evening. It went well but I made too much I think. Always do. I don't think my energy levels are what they used to be. I spent all day yesterday doing NOTHING except for reading and watching Outlander. Good news is that I still had food left over for yesterday and today so no cooking. Bad news is the cookie bars were still left over yesterday and today. I still tracked all my food I ate. I exercised a shorter amount of time on Thursday morning than I would have but did it to keep the habit before I started prepping and cooking. I made sure I did some mall walking today. My foot is better to do that but I still had some burning and shooting pains yesterday. I think from being on it all day/night.
I need to rein in my food though and be serious towards my goals. My trendline is basically a straight line at this point and I need it to be heading downward. I'm thankful it's not heading upward anymore.

Hello! Today was a good day. I did my workout and then cleaned the house, which included cleaning, throwing away, and reorganizing my bathroom linen closet and under both sinks. One big trash bag later and it looks great!I don’t know if I mentioned it but on one of hubby’s good days we went and bought a new sectional. Our living room has been crying for one ever since we moved in. I also got a new rug, coffee table, and lamps thanks to Wayfair. The rug is here now and the rest comes on Tuesday. I am excited about a new look and a good friend is being blessed with my old sofa and rug. She is just as excited.

@trooworld Tough choice on the winery versus mealprep but how can you balance the two? Enjoy yourself but at the same time choose healthy this week. Meals don't have to be gourmet this week. Simple things and then next week do regular mealprep. What did you end up doing? I remember when I read the book Chocolat for bookclub years ago.

@trooworld losing is always better than gaining so yayy!! I’m sure the winery didn’t help your weight loss, but you had a good time. Some people sleep in their workout clothes. I do make sure to put mine on first thing in the morning on days when I will work out.
Hello everyone! The new sectional is nice and it’s big. Going to take some getting used to seeing something that large in my space. Today we have to go to Best Buy and see if I can find a new computer for home. This one froze up four times yesterday and it will freeze when I’m typing. Most annoying and hubby has been on me to replace it for months. Why is it that spending money always comes in waves? My eating has been pretty good but I’m still doing too much snacking. I had done so well with cutting out all snacking and need to get back to that routine. Workouts are going well and this morning I will go in and murder my triceps and chest muscles.

@teresaw1020 I agree on the money in waves things. It's like you replace one thing and then two more breaks. My thing has been eating out this week. Some things planned some things not. For the most part I tried to choose healthy or just eat half. I'm also just plain tired this week and so not putting in most of my stretches. You think I would give up the cardio but not the stretches since it seems easier.

@stephonww I switched over here to MFP because I became pre-diabetic and the doc said I need to be following a moderate carb plan. So I do carb cycling. I say find a program you can afford and enjoy. @trooworld is doing WW so I think she will be able to give you some good tips.

@trooworld Yes on going out to eat. I think hubby has entered the bored phase of retirement. Post the recipe for the soup. At first I'm sitting here with a yuck look on my face at the words peanut and soup in the same sentence but it might taste good. hubby might like it cause he likes peanuts and then he won't want to go out for food. lol

@trooworld That is probably a good idea to stop scheduling meals on Fridays. It doesn’t work for you so why put pressure on yourself. When it gets to Fridays you can make a decision on what to get and if it’s something off-plan then you just need to make up for it during the week. Fitting in exercise can definitely be a challenge. I’m able to do it mostly because I have such a flexible work schedule. When I didn’t then it was way harder. You will figure out how to make it work for you.
Hello everyone! It’s a gorgeous spring day but a little too chilly to sit out on the porch. I’ve spent the last couple of days deep cleaning my house and throwing stuff away. I love getting rid of stuff almost as much as I love buying it.I finally feel like I have a good handle on taking over our household bills and I’m getting better at doing the bookkeeping for the church as well. In Bible study, we were talking about our gifts, and I said that I never thought I had the gift of administration and my friend said that was because I never needed it before. How very true!
My weight hasn’t budged much this month other than going up a bit but my workouts have been going well and I’ve definitely got a lot of muscle soreness from the weight lifting. OK, I need to go wash Maggie’s dirty little face which will cause her to have a dramatic fit of disgust. I on the other hand will have fun with it.
