@AllyNorth
Being over 50 might make it a little harder to lose weight, but it's completely possible. I started my serious weight loss right about the time I turned 50. Got to goal and then had some backsliding during COVID and am getting back to goal.
You can do this. Stick with the program. Log your food. Weigh what you eat if you can. Be honest with yourself. If you can get activity, that doesn't hurt, and it gives other good benefits.
@mtaratoot Thank you SOOO much for the encouragement. I am going to keep on trying. Good for you for reaching your goals and continuing to work on them.2 -
June starting: 270.1
June goal: 260
Overall goal: 150
I am a Friday or Saturday weigh-in.
June 1: 268.2. Teacher here. My plan is to lose 40lbs this summer (last 2 weeks of school through first 2 weeks of school). Already down 5 lbs!
June 3: 264.6 . Down .6 from last week. It was the last day of school today! Still have training next week (which will make workouts tough to schedule) but summer has started!
June 10: 260.8. Down 3.8 this week. Spent the week sitting in trainings, so only got 2 workouts in. And a pretty bad “generic respiratory virus” has my household coughing and surviving off of soup, tea, and cough syrup. Hoping to start feeling better soon and have a more reasonable loss (and appetite and ability to work out) next week.

Hi everyone,
Sorry I'm jumping in a little late. I just saw this group and I thought it was perfect for me. I weigh myself weekly anyway on my current weight loss journey.
I'd like to lose a total of 8 lbs this month. At 5'2" my BMI is in the "Overweight" category. I'm working to move it to the "Normal" category

I gained water weight (and possibly actual fat-related weight) over the long jubilee weekend, so I logged it but didn’t add it to this chat as I knew it would go back down again.
I’ve started a new strength routine at the gym so I know there will be additional water weight occasionally as my muscles mend themselves. Add to that the normal swings and roundabouts of hormones, and I don’t expect a particularly linear month.
I’ve decided to try 2000kcal as my daily calorie target. I have spent over 10 years, on and off, using MyFitnessPal to track calories and in that time I have never tried sticking to a set value. Instead, I have always either eaten back exercise calories using MyFitnessPal’s calculations or used a FitBit. With this system, looking back over the months, my calorie intake has regularly been over 2000kcal average per month, so I want to see if it is less stressful just aiming for a set number each day. It will mean small or no deficit some days and huge deficits compared to I am used to other days, but I’ll try to keep to it (within 100 or so calories each side) for the rest of the month and see what happens. It is also the U.K. government’s suggested daily intake figure, plastered all over shops and menus now, so that side is amusing too.
One idea I have always been attracted to is that you could set your calories for the amount of calories you would be able to have to maintain your ideal weight. Right now I’m fairly happy with my body, and 2000kcal seems a reasonable daily intake in the long term too, so as long as I don’t gain (which I can be pretty confident I won’t) I’ll be happy.5 -

I'm in. I'm Chris. I live in northern California.
72 year old female...5'5" ...I used to be 5'7" but arthritis hit and I lost two inches, so now that two inches is squished around my waist like the billows of a big accordion...
...Oh, well. I'll just keep working on it.

Joining late this month as we’ve been away on our holidays for the last 2 weeks. Just arrived back late last night after a fab time away. Weighed myself this morning and a 1.2kg gain isn’t too bad for 2 weeks fun in the sun! I was preparing myself for an extra kilo on that 🤣. Back to normal healthy easing and my regular exercise plan 😀😀😀4 -
My name is Donna. I am 62 years old and I live in the Midwest of the US. I am 5’ 5” tall.
Start Weight (from end of May, 2022 ): 203.4
Goal Weight: 198.4 (5 pound loss)
End of Challenge Weight: xxxxx
Ultimate Goal Weight: 145-155 (I’ll know it when I get there!)
06/01…..…..203.4 (Trend Weight: 203.6)…..
06/07…..…..205.0(Trend Weight: 204.1)….. I need to lose 10 pounds just to be comfortable in my clothes. Focusing on that first. The first 10 will require the most changes in habits and the most dedication and resolve. Still no good kitchen and lots of travel in the picture this month. This won’t be easy but it never is.
06/14…..…..206.2(Trend Weight: 204.8)….. A week filled with much car-sitting travel. Chinese last night didn’t help this mornings weigh-in. I’m seeing the heart doctor today (more travel from this rural area). I’m sure he’ll insist on weight loss. Probably just the push I need to get back in control.
06/21…..…..(Trend Weight: xxxxx)…..
06/28…..…..(Trend Weight: xxxxx)…..
06/30…..…..(Trend Weight: xxxxx)…..
Every healthy habit brings me closer to scratching each of these off to NEVER see them again!

@mudh8r - you can try searching on your user name, or just scroll backwards in the thread. I keep a separate notes file or text file and update that, then copy and paste into the thread.0
