What is your "Petty" Reason to Lose Weight?

1.) I need my aunt to stop editing and giving me food advice (always in front of other people) ever again. She notices if anyone gains even a single Kg. "Don't eat bread and rice. Maybe you ate the way you did because you didn't gain weight before but that won't last forever because you are starting to gain alot of weight now."
2.) I don't have space for two sets of clothes 😑 chunky clothes and normal clothes. Just want to feel like my old self again.15 -
I had a pulmonary embolism & blood clot in my leg just over 3 years ago. At the time I was very active, albeit still very overweight. My uncle asked me if I got the PE & DVT because I was "fat & lazy".
Mmm... not how that works. But ok.16 -
So my wetsuit fits. Neoprene is so unforgiving.18

I want to have sex and don't be ashamed of my body17

I saw a mom taking a selfie with her kiddo the other day. I want to have the confidence to do that. I avoid photos at all costs.12

Hmmm 🤔 I suppose so that I won’t be the fat friend haha9

I was the lame, frumpy one in college who never went out unless it was a vocational/academic fraternity event (think co-ed professional org rather than Greek Life). Went to a wedding last October weighing 225 and ran into some of my fraternity mates. Going to a wedding this upcoming October where the same group of people will be present, and I'm on track to weighing 50 pounds lighter AND being a healthy BMI. Going to show that I'm no longer lame and frumpy. Only ten more pounds to lose before I buy myself a new, sexy dress to wear. Very petty and not my primary reason for losing weight by any means, but this thread did ask for petty reasons.18

I want to not have to suck in my gut every time I'm hanging out by the public pool or at the beach. LOL12

Wow, that guy is a rude jerk! I'm sorry that happened to you. He has no right to say that, doctor or not.7 -
Lol, I just realized the post I replied to is from 4 years ago. Oops
To add something to this thread I will say that my reason is to prove I can to all the people who think I CAN'T!16 -
Can I join the "to show my mother" camp? I know she had mental health issues of her own, but she was skinny-to-anorectic and used to say things like "don't bother losing weight, even if you were thin you'd still be plain." I've successfully dealt with lots of my childhood baggage, but I'm petty enough :-) to admit I want to lose the weight because dammit, I want to win. So there!15

My son just graduated from high school, and in the fall will enlist in the Army. When I attend his graduation from boot camp, I don't want to be the out-of-shape father living vicariously through his son; I want to look like I had just graduated, as well.21

Congrats to your son! Maybe this will help you feel closer to him while he's away, too!6

Sorry that your mother said those things. It's sad that anyone needs to say unnecessary hurtful things like that. Sounds like my aunt. Except she does it in a backhanded compliment-y kinda way. If people can't be kind or supportive, it's best they say or do nothing at all.
Some people (。•́︿•̀。)10 -
Because I don't want to have to admit I gained it ALL back, plus some.17

I feel like I can’t justify having plastic surgery for my double chin and lower eyelids (a gift from genetics) until the extra weight is all gone. I’m over halfway to my goal, and my chin has deflated into loose skin. I’m hoping it eventually tightens up so I don’t actually need the surgery, but if I do I’ll at least know I did everything I could to make it better first.
Another petty reason is that I’m in my late 30s, and I want to have a nice set of washboard abs and toned legs for many years before I’m too old to enjoy and appreciate them. My entire life I’ve always been at least “a little bit fat” to quote Bridget Jones. I’m ready to not be anymore.10 -
My petty reason seemed to be the same as every women in here: to have our primary care physicians focus on our actual symptoms and not use our weight as a scapegoat to misdiagnosed us.😑😒
I had close to the same encounter as @dhiammarath did with my PCP. I was hospitalized with pneumonia because he kept saying it's because I was obese(190 lbs@ time) that my bronchitis from getting the flu never went away and ended up turning into pneumonia. Had he actually run some *kitten* tests, it could have been caught early and I wouldn't have ended with a $65k hospital bill and a month out of work.
If I had the financial means I would have sued his *kitten* so bad.
Cheers ladies!!! 🚺 👩 🍾🍸🍻🥂👏🏾🤝 Here's to sticking it to all the medical professionals that see our sizes as the problem to every health issues.10 -

I want to get our family photos taken and look good. Also I want to enjoy finding an outfit for it and not be near tears like last time.11
