My name is Donna. I am 62 years old and I live in the Midwest of the US. I am 5’ 5” tall.

Start Weight (from end of May, 2022 ): 203.4
Goal Weight: 198.4 (5 pound loss)

    End of Challenge Weight: xxxxx
Ultimate Goal Weight: 145-155 (I’ll know it when I get there!)

    06/01…..…..203.4 (Trend Weight: 203.6)…..

06/07…..…..205.0(Trend Weight: 204.1)….. I need to lose 10 pounds just to be comfortable in my clothes. Focusing on that first. The first 10 will require the most changes in habits and the most dedication and resolve. Still no good kitchen and lots of travel in the picture this month. This won’t be easy but it never is.

06/14…..…..206.2(Trend Weight: 204.8)….. A week filled with much car-sitting travel. Chinese last night didn’t help this mornings weigh-in. I’m seeing the heart doctor today (more travel from this rural area). I’m sure he’ll insist on weight loss. Probably just the push I need to get back in control.

06/21…..…..202.2(Trend Weight: 204.4)….. I’ve really tried hard dietary wise. At every turn I am being reminded how small a portion really is! Boy oh boy, have I ever been overusing the condiments in the past! My movement, however, is just not good enough. Very low level energy and scared of my heart problems too. I’ve really got to do better on that front. I have lots of travel on the agenda in the coming week including today. That will not help the scale but I will try to make good choices at the restaurants.

    06/28…..…..(Trend Weight: xxxxx)…..

    06/30…..…..(Trend Weight: xxxxx)…..

Every healthy habit brings me closer to scratching each of these off to NEVER see them again!

Got COVID for first time ever so wasn’t really in the mood for anything. Heavy flu symptoms but on the mend now so hope to get moving again and eat a bit better now that I can taste things again.

Maybe I need to change my goal for June? I Didn't expect to see it drop that much.

My weight fluctuates a lot. Keep doing what you're doing and keep an eye on the long term trend. If you set too aggressive of a goal and then bounce around back up and down with daily/weekly weigh-in, you can get frustrated.

As a personal example, the scale showed me a 4.8 pound loss over two days... followed by a 3.2 pound gain in one day. Over the last few weeks though, if you look at the trend, it's a lot flatter than that. There's some good apps and websites that can help filter out the noise. I use WeightGrapher and TrendWeight.

For a deeper explanation of how it works, check out The Hackers Diet - especially the pages on Signal & Noise.

Thanks for this. I'm just a little over a month in on MFP and can use all the advice I can get. I'll definitely look into those!

Total loss for June My June weight gain continued this week. I'm up almost a pound for the week and four pounds for the month of June. I am very unlikely to meet my goal for the month, but I'll keep trying and at least maybe cut into some of the gain to start July a little lighter than I am this week.

06/28…..…..198.8(Trend Weight: 203.0)….. I’ve been very focused this past week. However, I’ve also had several days of travel or events so I am proud of the control I have managed to keep. Logging my food really helps. It sure does cut down on the extras like mayo, sour cream, crackers, BBQ sauce etc. I’m using a lot less of that. Sometimes the calories are just not worth it. I am wearing a heart monitor right now, hopefully some answers soon since I’m so afraid of exercise or pushing myself at this point. Even walking has become difficult especially near my home with all the hills & inclines. I’ll know more by mid-July. I am doing what I can, when I can when it comes to exercise.
