I had 3,5 hours of sleep and have been up since 5.40am. It's now nearly 8pm. Some of the people from the gym had a weightlifting competition on the other side of the country and a bunch of us went to support them. I planned for this horribly and had no proper food to bring with me. So I had 2 grapes, a single cherry and 2 blueberries around 10 or 11am, had mcdonald's for lunch at 2.30pm (a cheeseburger, medium fries and medium vanilla milkshake, still came in under 1000 calories apparently), which got the edge off my hunger. I drank plenty of water, had one small cappuccino and struggled to figure out what to have for dinner to get to a reasonable amount of calories. The sad result: a bowl of instant ramen and 6 chipolata merguez sausages with a refreshing glass of homemade (by my mum) elderflower squash, coming it at 2500 cals total. I can't imagine eating any more and I am going to head to bed soon so I guess yesterday was the last day of my diet break. Oh well.
I'm also gonna try to get back to doing the regular workouts from tomorrow. I'll also play around with my deficit from tomorrow and maybe weigh myself.
The competition was great fun and I yelled and clapped A LOT for everyone. Off to bed. Hope this check in made some amount of sense given how tired I am.
Edit: the mcdonald's didn't taste that good and is totally not worth the calories in the future but I was so hungry I would've eaten anything edible.5 -
Glad to be back and Thank you @RavenStCloud for this thread. Great support here!

My goal is to continue with what seems to work for me. 1000-1200 calories, low carb 15 Net +/- 3(My body seems to not do well with carbs. It doesn't know how to burn them and hangs onto them way too much!), minimum 70 + oz of water, 2 meals/day on my days off(3) and 3 meals on my work days(which are long), exercise on my 3 days off. My weigh in day is Sunday.

Good morning everyone!
Hopefully I can make it through my first day back at work in like a week and a half.
Weight 188.2, not worried about it.
Yesterday was good, I made tomato sauce from scratch, forgot that I needed to use the USDA recipe if I wanted to can it, oops, so there's a lot of sauce in my fridge that I'm going to have to find room for in the freezer. And I managed not to doomscroll by instead playing a lot of Destiny 2. I banned myself from scrolling before bed by cleaning up the house until I was tired, showering, and doing Duolingo, then right to sleep. And I think it helped. I think I slept better.
Tonight is pole curious and taste of twisted with my friend, at last! Hopefully! She's bailed on me three times now, but I think she really wants to go, so hopefully this time it works out.
Tag party:
@lmgoff232 you look great!
@bojaantje3822 I think that's how everyone feels about mcdonalds, lol
@swimmom_1 I know with cardio there's some amount of adaptation your body does when it comes to intensity/distance, do you think that's at play here?
Be safe out there

Good morning everyone!!
I hope everyone had a great weekend! I appreciate all of the comments and responses, thank you!
We were able to finish moving all of our things out of our old duplex and into our new home this weekend so yay!! My husband and I celebrated our wedding anniversary as well, so it's been a busy weekend, and today is the start of my 34th journey around our star! Lots to celebrate!!
All that's left for us to do is to go back and patch and clean up the duplex, then we hand over our keys. We have to get that done by Wednesday, then we can fully focus on unpacking and organizing our new home. I am SO READY TO NEST. I NEED IT. Since it'll be firmly in the 90s and even 80s this week, we are going to start our daily walks as a family in the evenings, and I am super excited to do this since we were not able to in our last neighborhood.
Happy Monday everyone!!

June GW: 236 - 240 ✔️
June Goals:
🌷 Reorganize my closet and get rid of anything that's too big ✔️
🌷 Push myself in my HIIT workouts ✔️ (just upped my base running pace! and distance victory!)
🌷 Carefully meal plan and prep ✔️
🌷 Flexibility work 5+ times per week (needs work)
🌷 Read 8+ books (a little behind)
Well despite my doomscrolling this weekend ( @CupcakeCrusoe I need to take a page out of your book and stop the doomscrolling), it was largely good. Some great OTF classes (it turns out rage running is a thing), got a new HVAC unit so my AC is working like gangbusters, and spent some time with friends. Stayed on track eating-wise, despite my mood AND having FOUR PINTS of ice cream in my freezer.
Work had a summer ice cream social this past week. Four pints of Jeni's showed up on my doorstep. 320 cals per serving. I had a serving Friday and another serving last night. Managing to keep myself from eating it allllll.
No time for a proper tag party this morning - super busy at work!5 -

Happy Monday! My giant whoosh from Friday(?) is almost all back, but that's okay. I'm still a pound down from last week, and that's progress.
Yesterday I volunteered at a craft beverage expo in town, which got me a lot of steps and zone minutes on my Fitbit. I was running around gathering bottles and providing cups to the vendors, and then tearing down afterward, which meant running around and carrying a ton of stuff. I'm surprised my back isn't hurting today, because some of those tables were heavy. I literally only volunteered because I had a free day and I thought, this will keep me active!
Lots of doctors appointments this week, but at least they are telehealth. Today I had an initial consultation about getting a tubal ligation, which went far better than expected. Tomorrow I have a follow up with my neurologist to discuss how Emgality has been working for me (answer: hasn't really done anything). I'm cautiously hoping we are able to find some other treatment that will help.
With everything going on, particularly getting stuff ready for moving, I have been doing pretty badly at tracking. This is the second weekend in a row that I didn't track, just because I was on the go and eating out a lot. I'm hoping this will be a calmer week and I can get myself back on track. I'm also trying to get back into staying hydrated, which I have been doing so poorly with the last few weeks.
Hope you all have a wonderful week!5 -
@JAC581 - I'm so sorry Emgality hasn't done anything for you. For me, it's been a wonder drug. Hoping you find something that helps!
@CupcakeCrusoe - hope your friend joins you! And that the first day back isn't *too* painful.
@lmgoff232 - You're looking fabulous!
@goal06082021 - You're so close - fingers crossed you make it to the June goal! And that baked oatmeal sounds delicious. I've saved that recipe for the future.
@sargemarcori - Just keep on keeping on. The weight will eventually drop if you're doing everything as you should. I am an advisor to a local sorority chapter of 100+ amazing young women, and I feel you on everything right now.
@KeriA - good luck with the ongoing job search. You may already have come across this site, but askamanager.org is my favorite blog for job search, interviewing, and resume advice. It's also a place that shows how dysfunctional some workplaces can be, and how to get the heck out.1 -
HECKIN' FARTS, y'all. Hubs was out of town this week at an industry conference, and in addition to a bunch of cool pins and contact info for people who might-could get him a job, he brought home the Rona. It's honestly a miracle we've managed to go this long without getting it, considering he's in the medical field and my employer hasn't given a whole eff about this pandemic since it started.
I'm not symptomatic yet, so per CDC guidelines I shouldn't test until Saturday unless I do develop symptoms. But, it is impossible to quarantine in our place, so it's just a matter of time, tbh. His symptoms aren't classic Rona either - it just feels like a cold. No fever, no aches, no loss of taste/smell, no GI symptoms. He figured he just felt like *kitten* because he spent 4 days yelling and walking around a convention center after about 7 months of being quiet and sedentary, but we have tests to spare so he decided to take one just for giggles, and what do you know, immediate strong positive. And today it's become obvious that he does have something, so even if that test was a false positive (not likely but not impossible), he is clearly ill - other diseases didn't stop being a thing just because we're now in the Age of Covid, after all, and there's a reason they call it "con crud." At least we're vaxed and boosted, and after a brief struggle with my boss and IT, I'm set up to work remotely this week. It was less of a fight than I was expecting but more of a production than it should have been.8 -

After the large dinner I had last night and the 2 pounds of muscle gain for the week, I cannot complain about the .5 loss! Everyone has so much going on it's hard to keep track so I'll say congrats to you all on amazing progress, those on breaks that did well with maintenance, those fighting with TOM, those dealing with the stresses of moving and changing jobs, and those who have gained because it happens to us all. I weigh every day and even though you don't see it on my weekly weigh-in, the daily weigh-in is like a rollercoaster.
I am taking my break at the end of this month to celebrate my birthday on Thursday and my sisters on Friday. It will be my first break since December so I'm going to log it all, but enjoy my cake and alcohol for sure!

Hi again,
Need some motivation. 1 yr Anniversary of husband's death last week. Am 71, CW is 259, down from 262. Slow going. But I wonder sometimes, what's the point. Need to lose weight because of knee. Surgery down the road. Getting an injection this week. Just feeling discouraged. Thanks. Maybe try intermittent fasting slowly. Any suggestions?10 -
So I weighed in after my workout today (I leave my brain at the door when I walk in so it didn't cross my mind to weigh myself before exercising but oh well) and it showed either 125,5kg or 126kg but the lines all kinda blur together and I wasn't wearing my glasses but it was clearly very close to the 125kg and that matters because a few days ago it was up to like 128 again iirc. I didn't wear a coat but I also hadn't really wiped off any sweat so I think the water I drank during training definitely would've made up for any sweat that evaporated. And it got me wondering why I was so unbothered by it. I'm not a super level-headed person but maybe seeing the fluctuations took the stress away? Or could I have been too tired to care?
Then it hit me. When I was losing weight the only other time in my life, I would see a new low, then for a few weeks my weight would be 1-4kg higher than that new low, madly fluctuating every day, then I'd see another new low, then more mad fluctuation, etc. And I wasn't exercising as much as I am now, though I was waitressing so my day job was very active. And my tape measure results have the same pattern. There's so much fluctuation there too. I can't believe I forgot about this and only remembered now.
Anyway, 126 or whatever it was is a difference of 2 pounds but considering I ate in a surplus for 13 consecutive days during my diet break, had salty mcdonald's yesterday, haven't caught up on sleep and have been struggling with my back, this is surprisingly low and I think there's a new low waiting to show itself on the scale soon. I intend to measure myself later but I am too tired to move right now and I still need to cook and have dinner so maybe I'll do that later/tomorrow. Typically there's a bit of a pump from exercising anyway so measuring shortly after is an even worse idea than weighing in right after exercise.
The workout itself was quite intense but I'm very proud of my ring rows. It's the alternative to doing a pull up when you're too scared to use the resistance bands to help you perform a pull up on the rack, which I very much am because there is no stability there and I am not great at balance. I'm quite flexible everywhere except my wrists and ankles so I might end up in weird contortionist positions if I try the bands. I'll do ring rows until my arms grow strong enough and my weight gets low enough that I can do an unassisted pull up.
But anyway, the coach was like "if you can do 5 ring rows in 10 seconds, it's too easy and you should take a step forward". The more you get under the rings, the harder it is to pull yourself up. I usually just eyeball it and get into a somewhat diagonal position that's maybe 40-45 degrees from vertical (measured where my head is, an estimate) but one step forward was 20 or 30cm and I was way more horizontal than ever but still only about 60-70 degrees I'd guess. It was MUCH harder and I really felt my arms but I'm so proud of that. It's been so long since I did any arm work because I've been so focused on my back but it felt great and challenging and I am so happy.
Yesterday's weightlifting competition was so cool to watch. There were some super skinny and tiny women with very nice arms doing 70kg snatches and 90+kg clean and jerks like it was nothing. They are stronger than most of the men at our gym 😂 but I hope no one feels bad about that. I was in awe and had a blast cheering everyone on. I thought I'd just clap for all of them and cheer for our gym's participants but I was yelling for almost everyone there and super stressed for everyone and just hoping they'd all succeed at all of their attempts. It was such a feeling of community, it was awesome. I don't think I ever cared for any kind of competition but being there with all these people and knowing how heavy it all is and what effort they had put in and also kinda the knowledge that in a few years I could probably get near that level (the perk of getting very obese - my highest known bmi was 45 - is all the extra muscle we grow to support our very large bodies and extra muscle helps with lifting heavy, though can hinder range of motion) if I kept at it probably all combined to get me so invested. When I swam competitively and when I did taekwondo I knew I never would be able to do what others at a regional level did so it was kinda whatever but this seems doable so I care more. With swimming the problem is that I would need to lose weight to get that much faster and that shouldn't be a prerequisite to get good at a sport imo and with taekwondo I lack the strategic thinking required for effective sparring ánd I'm scared of hurting people so my personality combined with my trauma is terrible for getting good at taekwondo, though I can kick really well and high, just not when aiming at a person.
@cosmiccurves happy birthday!
@goal06082021 wishing you and your husband a quick recovery
@_manny_702 happy almost birthday!
@finngirl61 hugs to you, that's rough4 -
I’m back at the same weight as I started over a year ago🙁 25lbs put back on !
Feeling absolutely disgusting. I’ve been on every diet. Joined so many weight loss diets. Spent so much money!
No more! This is free! Can’t believe it.
I’m getting back on track. Got 60 lbs to lose
I really want to see ONE derland 🤞😊10 -
Welcome, @laurieden! you can do it!
y'all, I got my kid to go hiking with me yesterday. I'm so happy about that!7 -

I weigh in on Mondays.
Started 2/5/22
SW: 288.8
CW: 264.2 (-24.6)
GW for June: 259
5/30: 264.2
6/6: 261.2 (-3.0)
6/13: 260.6 (-0.6)
6/20: 258.0 (-2.6)
6/27: 256.2 (-1.8)
June total loss= 8lbs 😮
Goals for June:
🍎 Keep eating 4-5 fruits and veggie servings per day, at least 5 days a week
🧘🏼♀️ Work up to 8 minutes at a time doing Leslie Sansone workouts by the end of the month
👦 Survive the first month of summer break and taking care of my nephews (my health has gone downhill a lot since last summer)
🏊♀️ Start water exercise once the complex pool opens
👩⚕️ Set up the appointments I need to have with my primary doctor
⬇️ Lose 5-6 pounds and enter the 250s (I’ll be happy with any loss)
Past week update:
I have eaten at least 4 servings of fruits and veggies each day this past week except Saturday. No exercise due to pain sickness and fatigue. Pool still isn’t open and we just got a letter that it’s delayed 🙄 I still don’t think I’d be able to go with this coughing and stuff anyway but they are always late opening it. My first of two in person appointments to do during my nephews’ summer break is tomorrow morning 😬 totally dreading it. I haven’t set the second one up yet but hopefully I’ll do that by Thursday 😂4 -
Good morning everyone!
186 this morning, nice to be on a downswing. Hopefully I see below 185 in the next week or so.
Pole yesterday with my friend was fun, and she seemed to really enjoy it. I'm glad. I'm not envious of how sore she's going to be today, having recently been there myself.
Managed not to doomscroll before bed last night, as my orange boi came and laid on me when I was in bed. He's very snuggly.
Today, gotta message my local and house reps and donate to my local org, having messaged my senators yesterday. I know of a spreadsheet with lots of local orgs, if you need that info, DM me.
Tomorrow, school board is on the docket for... other stuff happening. Too much stuff, I tell you. I need to make myself a little action calendar for each week.
Alright! Tag party time!
@cosmiccurves I'm so glad you're almost done! So close!
@seltzer_lover look at you, well done on having ice cream around! I also have been pretty good about ice cream in particular- I found some Tillamook recently, and I haven't even tried it yet- but partially that's because I have a sneaking suspicion I'm turning lactose intolerant, so maybe I don't deserve much credit
@JAC581 functional fitness is the best fitness! You'll get back to tracking when you're ready
@goal06082021 I'm so sorry to hear this! Lots of fluids, take it very easy. I hope you feel better very soon.
@_manny_702 happy early birthday!
@finngirl61 Does intermittent fasting work for your schedule as it is now? It's not the only way to lose weight, but if you're a person that generally skips breakfast (or dinner) anyway, it might be a helpful tool in bringing your overall calorie intake down.
It doesn't work for yours truly, because I love to eat and famously don't skip meals. If you tell us about kind of your average day, maybe we can help you tweak your routine to help you create a calorie deficit?
@bojaantje3822 You've got a great attitude about fluctuation. And it sounds like a blast, watching a weightlifting competition!
@laurieden welcome! You CAN do it! I find posting here helps, to keep myself on track and accountable.
@sargemarcori hiking with your kid sounds like wonderful bonding time.
@swimmom_1 I know it happened to me while I was half-marathon training, is why I bring it up. If you're at all interested in resistance training or cross-training another way, might be worthwhile to switch up your workout every so often.
@bonniemcc4 you've done a great job! Mojo for your appointments, it will be good to have them over with, is how I look at things I don't want to do!
Have a good day, go do some good, everyone!

Good Morning Everyone. I just found this thread. I have been looking for place where I could share my journey. I re-started my weightloss/change of diet journey about 5/26 so I have been doing this all of June. I have lost 11 pounds so far this time around. I want to stay on plan and continue the loss. It sounds like all of you are doing great! I am currently at 252 so I still have a long way to go! What sort of plans/diets/way of eating is everyone doing? Just tracking or some specific way of eating? I am (sort of) doing Whole30/Paleo. I am tracking here in MFP and eating this way has led to me eating fewer calories and not feeling hungry which has been great! I hate being hungry!8

So I haven't posted any updates since Friday morning.... let's see....
Friday night was ladies movie night. We watched Stardust and had a blast. I was asked to put together a list for a vote on next month's movie night. The previous month we had watched Hysteria. I'm open to suggestions if anyone has something good that maybe hasn't already been seen a million times by everyone. Last year we did Charade and This Means War so movies can be old, new, anything in between but should be fun to watch. Nothing too serious.
Saturday started off with the Southeast Crab Feast. Let me tell you that this Maryland born girl was in her element and ate so many blue crabs. Since I also collect hats and I use Pair Eyewear for magnetic glasses I was totally decked out for the occasion.
Afterwards we went to the local Freedom Blast event. Every year it is one of our favorite events. To attend is free and wristbands for kids rides and bounce houses are only $5. I'm all about budget friendly. Live music, kids areas, sky divers bringing in a huge American flag and ends with a fabulous fireworks display.
On Sunday I kind of lost the plot and by mid-day stopped tracking. I told my daughter she was making dinner so she brought me a cup of instand ramen noodles and a bowl of candy. Which is why yesterday I knuckled down and got back under control. In fact, in the evening I started having a comfort food craving. Think going to the diner for hot open faced turkey sandwich with gravy and potatoes. So.... I broke out my keto friendly buns, lunchmeat, jarred gravy, baby potatoes and a lot of green beans. It absolutely hit that craving and didn't cost me a day worth of calories either.
Today we are back to dance class following immediately by VBS at a local church so my afternoon and evening will be rushed. Hopefully, I can make myself use my lunch break for a YouTube cardio routine and not just sitting with my library book.
I'm also realizing most of the people who were on my Fitbit have all gone inactive. So if anyone wants to friend me on Fitbit for challenges or whatever I'm at https://www.fitbit.com/user/234YZG
Tag Party!
@CupcakeCrusoe all of those food photos looked amazing.
@justanotherloser007 Congrats on losing more than planned. That’s always a great feeling.
@KeriA So exciting about the job!!!! Three months training is fabulous. Also, I bet a sloppy joe made with lamb would be amazing. In fact, I might want to try that in the near future just because it sounds so good.
@JaiDessaT Welcome to the group!
@goal06082021 Thanks for the recipe!!! I’m going to have to try this one day soon. Sorry to hear about the rona coming home though.
@cosmiccurves I just told my daughter we might try to take a mini hike on Saturday or Monday morning over the holiday weekend. It will have to be early though because the heat is killer mid-day. Maybe I should drag her into evening walks instead.
@JAC581 The craft beverage expo sounds fun. That was such an interesting way to stay active. I love it.
@karilbrandt Welcome! Sounds like you’re off to a fantastic start.

Don't really have much to comment on, I keep forgetting to weigh myself but I am craving vegetables now and love how making better food choices makes me feel.
@finngirl61 I'm so sorry for your loss and knee pain is no joke. Be kind to yourself, you will reach your goal. I have a dear friend who lost her husband to cancer and grief counseling really helped her. There are even online grief support groups. My widowed friend says that for her, it's harder as time goes by because she feels like everyone has moved on but she still thinks about all the missed celebration and vacations and stuff like that. I hope you can find peace soon.4
