Vegas was a great time.
Vegas – we got sucked into the timeshare reservation. I was expecting DH to put the hard no on the guy and he didn’t or at least give more input on the show; nope but we had just brought up Blue Man Group so took that option when the guy mentioned it. Never again for the timeshare; don’t think it was worth the show tickets, nor anything else they tried to give us – hindsight they weren’t that great things thrown but I hadn’t the privilege before. That whole experience made me love my Disney DVC experience a whole lot better; which really was not a hard sell option. We had “rehearsal dinner” the next night at Delmonico. Was fantastic but since the group was trying to go elsewhere after I didn’t get the dessert I wanted. Wedding was very cute. Pool afterward was very nice but I did get burnt a little. Our last day we ended up going to the Mob Museum and driving past the Red Rock scenic drive area. Both were really nice. Half expected to see a family name at the museum lol.
Our flight back got into the delay/canceled madness that occurred. Our one leaving Vegas delayed and then once we landed we found out our connection flight had been canceled. We had the every joy of trying out standby – ALL FLIPPIN DAY. I think they added a 930pm flight as when I was first getting the new flight none that day were available only next day. Late afternoon we had the notice that I could change to the late flight and grateful as we’re able to select the seats when the original I couldn’t.
DH did very well with the airplane seat. But I'll stay with Southwest when possible so that I'm not smooshed staying in my seat. He does extend into the next a bit so that answered that.
We brought back a souvenir - COVID. While we were masked during our flights, elsewhere we didn’t; so not too sure when we were exposed. We haven’t heard about anyone else at the wedding activities getting sick so that is good. It seemed to start for DH while we were waiting for our flight. He just thought it was a sinus thing. He bought Mucinex and didn’t think much of it. Things started for me the Sunday we got back. We both tested that day and it was negative. That evening I had the fever. When I checked it was 101. We retested Monday once DH last smell/taste. Both of us were positive; very strong. I pretty much went through the symptoms as a checklist last week. I was very tired and had the body aches. Had most of them once during the week. Had to take a nap during the day all week. It was a slow work week so it did fine for me.
First time for both of us which is surprising for him as one of the pharmacy’s he goes most had it early on. I guess we did pretty well 2 years later getting it; vaxed & boosted too. Did just fine staying away from folks. I stayed put at my mom’s house during this as I just wasn’t entertaining getting things settled at my house in the middle.
The biggest disappointment was I now couldn’t go to the NKOTB concert and couldn’t even give the tickets away to someone.
My one friend I normally go to the gym with has gone hiding. Maybe tomorrow after the CDC guidelines say I can come out unmasked will start to check in again. Won’t be surprised if she doesn’t though. A tad disappointed she didn’t see how I was doing in general or to find out if I really did test positive; I see I only mentioned DH did. My other friend who also got exposed while I was away had checked in and I did with her; along with chatting since we couldn’t go to the concert. I was a bit surprised Mom in law checked to see. Doing well now besides some random coughing fits.
I’m now back to my house as mom’s services will be turned off this week. Got the cats moved back yesterday. A bit strange being back after being away; but definitely feeling better about having a home now. Gotta go through things while being here; we’ll see if I end up back at Mom’s in Oct.

@finngirl61 my experience with losing my husband (we were not married nearly as long as you were!) was that things were worse right around a year later than they'd been at any point since it happened. After that things got easier. It is not something we ever "get over" in case anyone is trying to tell you that. It just hurts less after a time, and it's easier to let joy touch us. In my experience.9

So the scale showed 129kg this morning, 3kg more than 2 days ago. This falls within my normal fluctuation but any worry I might have also evaporated once I measured myself because the part where the bra band goes measured 100cm! That's 2cm down from the previous lowest. The other measurements are on the low end of the range I've been seeing and I think my legs and hips are due for some loss.
My arms are still at exactly the same number as they've always been but my box push ups are getting much better so who cares. I had to do a bunch on monday in my workout and today I did 20 or so during the warm up and it is just getting easier to sustain deep ones with my chest reaching the box (I guess this is easier when you have a large chest but mine is modest at best and it's squeezed in by my sports bra) for more reps than before.
I made polenta for breakfast today. It was a staple item in our household as I was growing up but I'd never made it myself, even though I've had the ingredients for as long as I lived here. It was so nostalgic to eat and much faster to make than I anticipated. I did undersalt it. My mum's "loads of salt" and mine are not the same so I undershot it by a lot. Still very tasty. I was so hungry midway through my workout, my legs felt like they'd give out from under me. Working out in the morning when you're used to working out in the evening is so hard, your body needs time to adjust to it. And it's hard to eat in the morning so I only had a banana and it was all gone well before the midway point of the workout.
Now I have a work thing to go to and it's my boss's birthday so cake and no idea what's for lunch or dinner but as long as I'm within maintenance idc.3 -
Good morning everyone!
186 again this morning, which is just fine with me.
I'm knitting like a fiend right now, as my second quarter knitting competition ends tomorrow and I'm about 3/4 of the way down my second sweater sleeve. I'm going to make it!
Tonight is Poles and Pole Play, which is kind of do-your-own-thing poles but with the instructor coming around and answering questions about form and stuff. I'm looking forward to it.
A coworker of mine has come back today, and we'll see whether or not I'm going to take one of the donuts he brought. It's fine if I do, I'm leaving my house very soon after dinner tonight to go to poles, so skipping dessert wouldn't be a problem after dinner. And I love the vanilla-fake-cream-frosting filled powdered donut at Dunkin. It would be even better if it didn't have powdered sugar, maybe one day I'll go to a Dunkin and see if it would be possible to get one without.
Today, as I said, the plan is school board, and I'm adding on my local AG. I am very serious when I say I hope they all get sick of hearing from me.
Tag party!
@bojaantje3822 He's a sweetie. You're making great progress! And fueling workouts for good performance is so important.
@karilbrandt Hi, welcome! I'm just kind of reducing calories in the way I've found fits my life:
-high-protein, low-calorie, high-fiber breakfasts and lunches (think egg whites, tuna, or chicken breast and vegetables and fruit)
-protein bar for a snack
-and whatever the family's eating for dinner, sometimes having to tweak that to fit my deficit calories (around 1600).
-Plus one treat per day. Yesterday that was ice cream, I think today that will be a donut from a coworker.
-And I'm more lax on weekends, increasing my calories to around 1800.
I'm not worried about a time frame to lose this weight, so I want to make good habits so that I can keep it off. Since I always want to eat more on the weekends, I make sure I start doing that now, while I'm trying to lose.
@pamperedlinny OMG you are the cutest crab! And the GLASSES OMG. It sounds like you had a great time, and that hot turkey sandwich looks amazing.
@NoNameWonder Sometimes a less weight-focused and more health and feeling good focus is good. That sounds weird to say on this website and in this thread in particular, but it's true. I will always bang on the drum that this is for life, and taking the weight off without changing the way you live will probably come back to bite you in the *kitten* after you're done losing. All that to say- good job.
@sarah12277 I'm so sorry to hear you got COVID on your trip! I hope you feel back to normal soonest, and same with your DH. I'm glad to hear your trip was mostly good!
Although I know the feel of having your eye on a dessert and then not getting it! I just had a flashback to looking longingly at the tiramisu on display at a local italian place as a kid, but my dad never got dessert in restaurants. As an adult, I always get the tiramisu if they offer one, lol. Same with baklava.
I'm sorry to hear your gym friend isn't checking in with you. Finding out the limitations of friendships and acquaintances can be the worst sometimes.
@sargemarcori well and beautifully said.
Kick it in the *kitten* for me today, Internet Friends.

Good morning!!!!
It's raining here this morning so I couldn't go do my usual walk with my neighbor. Instead, I found a walking workout on YouTube and did that. I didn't feel like using the elliptical this morning so it was a way to get moving without pushing myself too hard. I did miss getting outside but I'm not walking over a mile up and down these hills in the rain. This is the video I did today. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hk7i_0S8MhM&t=11
Last night I dropped my daughter at VBS and my husband called to ask what was for dinner. Given I was at the church and had been at dance beforehand I had no plan at all. He went to pick up subs from our favorite spot. We don't go often because it's about 20 minutes away and closes at 6pm on weekdays so when the opportunity arose I said yes!!! I was so glad that I had already gotten my exercise in and had eaten less than 800 calories all day. That meant I didn't even have to "cheat" when it was time for dinner.
I am unsure what I'm making us for dinner tonight.... but it will have to be something healthier than greasy sub sandwiches. Definitely can't do that every day.

@sarah12277 I’m sorry to hear you brought back Covid. Not being able to go to the NKOTB concert is so sad! I desperately wanted to go when it came through my area but finances didn’t allow it.
@bojaantje3822 Congrats on being down 2 cm!!!! Measurements are always more accurate than the scale so that’s fabulous! I’ve never made polenta at home. Now I’m thinking I’ll have to try that one day soon.
@CupcakeCrusoe Your pole classes keep sounding so interesting.

Hello All. I am doing well in the eating to plan department and in the weight department so far. I am not losing as fast as I did at the beginning, but I expected that it would slow at one point. You can only lose so much extra water weight! I am at 251.0 today down .2 lbs from yesterday so holding pretty steady at around 251. As I started June at around 260 I am VERY happy with my progress.
But, I am struggling to keep going. The novelty of planning all those meals and cooking all of them has gone. I just want simple easy things and lots of leftovers that I don’t have to cook or do much prep! That is very hard when I am avoiding most highly processed foods. I am trying to mainly eat whole fresh foods which, by definition, need some prep and cooking. Zucchini has become a staple due to the ease of prep and cooking. Any thoughts on other easy and quick to prep and cook veggies? I am also eating a lot of raw carrots and tomatoes.
Tag Party:
@cosmiccurves – contrats on getting everything moved. That is quite a challenge and takes so much time and effort.
@goal06082021 – sorry about the COVID. I hope that all is well soon.
@finngirl61 – You are worth it. This is for you. You need to keep going for yourself.
@laurieden – I am with you. I want to get to ONE derland too! I am currently at 251 so I have a long way to go.
@bonniemcc4 – you are doing great this month! Good going!
@Cupcakecaruso – love your cat! Your pole class sounds great. I need to find something like that too.
@pamperedlinny – You look so cute for crab fest. It was crab fest in the Bahamas last weekend (at least on Andros island). That Youtube video looks interesting. I need to find some more inside things too do as it is too hot to do much outside.
@sarah12277 – So sorry to hear that you got COVID in Vegas. I keep thinking about taking a short vacation there, but that makes me wonder if it would be worth the chance of getting COVID.

@karilbrandt my go to easy to cook foods are sweet potato fries from the oven and a cabbage and potato stew. And you have time to do other stuff while it cooks. Veggie soup or a wok are very simple and fast too. Taugé, pepper, leek, mushrooms, all very easy and quick to prepare, with little prep.2

Good morning everyone!
186.2 this morning, which is fine.
Poles last night was good, I did a chair spin for the first time, pretty successfully! It looks like this, except spinning down the pole:
Tonight, I clean house and pack everyone up, we're going to my mom's house for the long weekend. I'm gonna make it on finishing this sweater today, I'm in the cuff ribbing for the last sleeve.
I have no idea what I'm going to make for dinner, but I'll figure something out. Probably something with tomato sauce, since I don't have freezer space for all this sauce! Maybe my ravioli casserole: frozen ravioli, sauce, and cheese, bake at 350 until everything's cooked.
Whatsisface came in clutch this morning, delivering me a fancy coffee on his way to work.
Tag party time.
@pamperedlinny I love a surprise easy dinner, especially one that is an excuse to eat something I look forward to! Your walking video looks great, saving that one for later.
@kenziestabes that's the spirit! It's a marathon, not a sprint.
@karilbrandtThe novelty of planning all those meals and cooking all of them has gone. I just want simple easy things and lots of leftovers that I don’t have to cook or do much prep!
Prep: buy carton of egg whites, throw # of chicken breasts I need for the week in the crock pot every Sunday with some seasoning (various, depending on my mood, just throw it in there. Favorites: Italian dressing mix, ranch dressing mix, pickle brine) and portion into containers for the week
Breakfast (weekday): egg whites with some kind of meat/sausage/leftover meat/deli meat
Breakfast (weekend): low-cal high fiber toast with cheese and egg
Snacks: a serving of fruit and a protein bar (I like Quest bars because they taste like desserts)
Lunch (weekday): chicken breast or tuna, various vegetables, either raw or frozen to be microwaved.
Lunch (weekend): Usually too busy to eat, or eat an early bigger dinner
Dinner (weekday): whatever the family's having. Some of my favorite easy dinners: Egg roll skillet, pasta for the fam and zoodles for me with protein, ravioli casserole (see above), pulled pork out of the crock pot, and tamal pie (leftover pulled pork with vegetables, seasoned, under a lid of masa dough, like a chicken pot pie, but tamales)
Dinner (weekend): takeout, or something that takes me longer to cook/I'm craving
Using leftovers is huge, for me, and one way I can make sure I have good leftovers is to make at least double the protein we need for dinner, so I can repurpose it with different sides/condiments the next day.
If you can find shortcuts that you like, lean into them! Some people like meal prepping overnight oats for the week, making a big batch and portioning. I know @goal06082021 does that. I know @rockitwell86 likes to make a fun omlette for herself in a 9x13 and cut it up for the week (hey girl, haven't seen you in a while!). Find shortcuts for yourself that you can live with, taking at least one meal out of the what-am-I-going-to-eat merry go round, if you can.
As far as veggies go, stir frys are quick, and I do it a lot for our fresh veg. Another thing I do is just make frozen! Microwaves are great. In winter, I like to cut up a bunch of root veg and roast it all at once, and eat it through the week. oh, and to second @bojaantje3822, I love cutting up potatoes into sticks, and air frying them for "french fries." So good.
Have a great day, everyone!

Good morning everyone!!!!
Today is the last day of my daughter's VBS for this week. We don't have a VBS, dance class or other major activities planned at all next week so I'll get to go back to my Zumba classes and my own stuff after work. I'm kind of excited after a week of doing my own exercises at home.
Last night I didn't have a clue what I wanted for dinner so my husband suggested salads. Since I had some leftover chicken in the fridge this was an excellent suggestion because I made a huge buffalo chicken salad using some chopped up pieces of the leftovers. Then I made THE BEST dessert I've had in a while. Next time I need to add maybe a tiny bit of chocolate chips and it will be perfect.
Nonfat Greek Yogurt
Jordan's Skinny Syrup in Caramel Waffle Cone
Chopped Maraschino Cherry
Highkey Keto Vanilla Wafers
Thankfully, my walking partner was free this morning and the weather was good so I managed to get my morning walk in like normal. However, my monthly friend came to visit yesterday so I'm not exactly feeling frisky about exercising this afternoon. We'll see how it goes as last night the cramps were killing me and I took Pamprin the minute I was awake this morning.
@CupcakeCrusoe fancy coffee on the way to work is the best. Great job to Whatsisface! Also, I need to have some of that ravioli casserole.
@karilbrandt I love to cook and even have a recipe blog…. But I don’t want to cook every day. I’m big on leftovers. I especially like to make things that freeze well. I’ll eat on the leftovers for a day or two then package whatever is left into single servings and freeze them.
I’ll make taco meat using a pound of ground beef, a cup of lentils (which I cook while the beef browns), peppers, onions, a can of petite diced tomatoes and enough seasoning for 2 lbs of beef. It makes a TON! Then I’ll put a serving into snack sized baggies. Then I’ll put all of those small bags into a freezer safe bag, label and freeze. Then I can use low carb wraps for burritos or quesadillas. I can make a taco salad. I can add it to quick enchiladas. And since I froze it in single servings I can easily decide how much I need without having to start a big batch of thawed leftovers.
I also freeze enchilada sauce, caramelized onions (which I’ll make a big batch in my pressure cooker), gravies and other small portion items in ice cube trays. Once they are solid I’ll transfer those to freezer bags and label too. Then I have 2 tbsp of each thing ready to go.
I also buy ready to go proteins sometimes. Precooked sausage, pre-made hamburger patties, etc. That way if I have a salad or some veggies on hand I can have a meal in minutes. Also, stir fry is an easy & quick way to repurpose leftover veggies and cooks fast.
I freeze ham, shredded chicken, spaghetti sauce, diced veggies, lasagna slices, soup or stew, homemade gyro slices, whatever I have leftover. If there is more than 2 servings of something and I’m not feeling it the rest of the week I’ll freeze it in single servings so I can eat it later when I don’t know what to have. My trick is always making your frozen stuff into a single serving so if it’s just me I can just do one serving. If my husband is eating it too I do 2 servings. If I freeze a whole container of soup I feel like I have to eat the whole thing so it doesn’t waste. If I freeze singles I can decide how much I want at any given time. I love freezer bags too because I can make most things freeze flat and save space.

Officially ending June back in the 180s- 189.9 to be precise. At least I can say now, without a doubt, I weigh less at the end of June than I did at the beginning, at that, my friends, is progress. Considering I injured my back shorting after getting back from vacation, this is a good accomplishment.
Back is feeling better, by the way. Just pulled something with poor lifting form.8 -

I drank 3,75L yesterday and I weighed in at 130 kg just now so I think my muscles are slurping back the fluids now that I'm exercising regularly again. The back stuff was useful and necessary and doable but it was really more of a warm up than a workout.
I wore a blouse I hadn't worn in over 6 months and it fit so nicely, amazing. Also my face looked skinnier on camera during my online meetings today so I was a little distracted by it. And I had a great conversation about a potential new workplace, within the same organisation and a very similar position but a different topic and slightly different work. My current contract ends Aug 31st and the new one is gonna be a permanent one ánd a raise so my day has been fantastic.
Casually managed 120 12,5kg db alternating hang snatches in the workout. And it felt easy. I'm getting stronger.
Now if only I was also getting more consistent at household chores because there's several days' worth of dishes waiting for me to do and I still have to cook and eat tonight.3 -
I had a period from Sunday to Tuesday of higher calories but still below maintenance. Hopefully I will be able to keep my calories lower like yesterday now so I can see a new low soon. Yesterday was a watershed day for me. I had a good walk Monday but none Tuesday. So I was determined to have a good walk yesterday but was resting after prepping for dinner. My youngest said they would join me. While walking they pushed me to walk to this neat bridge over a wooded ravine. I was a bit worried it would be a longer walk than I have been able to do so far. I have gotten to a 55 minute walk since my surgery and treatments last year. My goal was to make it to an hour walk as soon as I could. Well yesterday the walk was over an hour. We forgot to look at the time when we started but know we walked an hour after we checked the time after walking a while. There were hills too. I want to go to Greenlake this weekend. It used to take me an hour but I am probably slower now. It is just under a 5K walk. I may have to take a rest at a bench to get around it now. But last time we did it I had to take a few rests (1 was at a café) and still had a hard time getting all the way around. It should be better now. We had a nice walk that was an hour at the arboretum a week or 2 ago but with a rest or two. My next goal will be to get around Greenlake without a rest. I used to walk-run it about 2-3 times a week before I was told not to run anymore on hard surfaces because of my knee.
@Goal06082021Oh no. Our youngest brought it home but we put them in the basement and delivered food. They were allowed to come out once they tested negative twice. When they had to come up a few times we all masked N95s and my husband and I went into other rooms. We didn’t get it. If I get it I will go into our room and stay there. Not sure what I would do if my husband gets it. Glad you got set up for working from home.
@_manny_702 Happy Birthday. Diet breaks are good for you.
@finngirl61 Now is the time to be good to yourself. Take small steps and they build up. I am losing very slowly now too. However I am doing other things that are healthy for me. It makes me feel better and then it helps me to lose. Take care.
@bojaantje My weight also pops up a bit when I hit a new low but then comes down and if I stay consistent I will lose again.
@laurieden I refuse to spend money on weight loss schemes. Welcome.
@bonniemcc4 great progress.
@CupcakeCrusoe I did some donating yesterday too.
@karibrandt you are doing great. Welcome. Look for next month’s thread.
@pamperedlinny A serious but wonderful movie about 3 women is Hidden Figures. I read a lot and with COVID don’t go to the movie theatre anymore. I saw it on the plane going to Hawaii.
@sarah12277 sorry to hear you got COVID. I am glad the one wedding we went to since the pandemic with an airline trip was before they lifted the masked mandate in planes and the COVID rates were lower than they are now both here and in Hawaii. It was just after the Omicron surge but before this one we are in now. We didn’t get it. They were good about wearing masks in Hawaii and we were too except for family gatherings at my mother-in-law’s house. I wear masks unless I am outside and there isn’t a crowd. I haven’t got it yet. I do not think CDC guidelines are set to keep others from getting it anymore.

I forgot - yesterday when I went to the grocery store I decided to get a mix for whole wheat muffins since our dairy doesn't carry any but less healthy muffins now. We used to get whole grain ones every other week. Well I start to make them this morning and started to smell chocolate. In small print on the bottom of the face of the box it said dark chocolate. I went ahead and put in blueberries and nuts in as I was planning. I like dark chocolate but not in the morning. I do not know why. My husband says they taste good. I will try them later today I guess. I only made 6 today and saved the rest of the batter for later in the weekend. Maybe I will take it to my brothers on the 4th to share. I have one of those muffin tins for mini muffins.

Folks I've been seriously MIA, sorry. Hope you are all doing ok, or if not that you have the support you need. If anyone ever fancies a chat or vent please do DM me, I've slipped with the forum these past few weeks ago but I will reply to msgs. And, again, thank you all, and @RavenStCloud in particular, for making this an amazing and supportive space. It's making a real difference for me!
So, WOW was my weight up and down this month. I slacked off on real exercise (i.e. not just potter around in the kayak or in the water), and I ate some beasts of meals. So the fact that I'm still down at all this month is good and I'll take it!
I'm off to a hen party this weekend (not usually my thing but the lady getting married is one of my favorite people), so I'll be wearing a dress for the first time in a really really long time! I'm glad I'm down this weight as I feel far more comfortable in myself than I did in Feb and I have my work outing soon, archery, shooting (I've never even held a gun before), and horse riding, plus food! And we're staying in a hotel that is supposed to be haunted (this only came up long after I booked it!). So I'm hoping to get decent enjoyment out of it all while continuing my progress.
In other news I have an offer on a house and am working on a mortgage application at the same time!5 -
@karilbrandt I’m all about easy and also love the ease of zucchini. I get yellow squash and sweet potatoes (which I eat baked) a lot these days.
On the sweet potatoes I’ve been having chili beans (I use canned but it could be easy to make with dry beans and chili seasonings especially in a slow cooker) and cheese. I’m not sure if cheese is on your menu but it may even be good with just the chili beans. I’ve also had them with butter and adobo seasoning too. I can’t remember who suggested that to me in the first place but makes it super simple if I need something quick.0 -
Happy birthday 🎊🎈 @_manny_7022

Where is the July thread? There are many and I forgot that today is the first day of July!
@bojaantje3822 – thanks for the advice/thoughts on quick and easy foods. Those are great ideas. I am cooking a green chili port stew this weekend that should last a while for leftovers!
@CupcakeCrusoe – Great ideas. I am doing low carb with no grain (bread, pasta, corn, rice), legumes or dairy so that has really limited some of my go to easy meals. But you have given me some great thoughts. I eat one of two things usually for breakfast so it is kind of OK. It is lunch and dinner that I stress about.
About how you cook chicken breasts in the crockpot, I have been having trouble cooking my boneless, skinless chicken breasts without over-cooking and making them tough and dry. How do you cook them in the crockpot? That sounds like a great idea.
@pamperedlinny – Great suggestions. I think that I will do the taco meat one this weekend (minus the lentils since I am not eating legumes). I love taco salad and that will make a quick and easy one any time that I want!
@KeriA – it sounds like you did great on your walk.
