Worked today but did get a walk around the block. After work went to Food Lion for some things on sale, then in the pool, church, watered plants, will get the salmon ready to marinate. No work tomorrow so I get to exercise <smile> Will take a shower tonight and then sleep in the other room with Shadow (Jess’ cat). I think I might spend every night this week with her only because it would be a real pain to move the CPAP back and forth. Texted Denise inviting her to the pool party, but I know that she’s not going to come. The excuse will probably be “Pete’s working”. But at least she was invited. Made another loaf of sourdough bread, still need to cut it up for the freezer
Vince worked some more on the power washing
Divine – you’re doing great!
Winner Leslie – proud of you
katla – I’m so happy your dh is doing better
Jess and Vince shaved Lexie before she left while I was at work
Heather – thanks for sharing your pictures with us. I always look forward to your adventures
Guess that’s about it for me

Hi Gals,
Allie – Costco on a weekend is equal to a horror movie in my mind. Interesting that Sean and Jean have multiple care givers but actually have to pay them….. you knew they were taking advantage of you.
Debbie – I know very very little about Japanese music, but there must be some list on line of the top songs during what ever years she was a teen. Do you or hubby read Japanese? Thinking googling might be more successful in Japanese.
Carol – did you fall or badly twist your knee in the walk over? I would be surprise to hear that just a walk could re-tear the meniscus, I had mine surgically cleaned up when I had an ACL replacement (years ago) and I have not retorn mine and done a lot more crazy things than walking to the neighbor. I am hoping it is just tired from a longer walk than it usually gets.
Machka – Delighted to hear that you and DH made such a long ride, what a drag it was so cold. It looks like you were riding for 4 ish hours, do you take breaks for food/water?
Lisa – I did not realize that your daughter was not Corey’s bio daughter, is his son? His (and your) commitment to the kids tells the world he is a top notch guy.
Katla – so glad your children are there with you. I know there is a lot on your plate right now, but their help in getting the boat ready to sell might be worth talking about. Sending good thoughts that DH will be home for the 4th.
Sending love to all.

no, we don't read or speak Japanese. She is also having trouble with her hears so he doesn't think she would get anything out of it- I think it is worth a try but he doesn't- Yes, I am married to the ultimate Mr. Pessimist. In ALL things.'
I think she was a teen during the war so don't think she listened to much music.
She might have in her 20's, but not sure. Really don't think she would remember.
I can look up songs from around that time and see if she likes them.
day 8 of 10,000 or more steps.
Walking MIL's dog really does help get my steps in. She said I don't have to walk that far but if I am driving over there, I will make it worth my time and the dog will get a good 30-45 min walk if I have time.1 -

My husband is happy about that ride. We met while cycling long, long distances and continued to do that until 4 years ago. 4 years ago, he had a workplace accident which resulted in a severe traumatic brain injury. Certain parts of his brain survived like his procedural memory (that's the memory someone has for doing things we've done many times such as playing the piano, typing, or riding a bicycle) and the portion of his brain that does math. Other parts of his brain haven't fared so well.
But cycling was and still is an important aspect of our lives and we've been gradually building up our cycling distances.
That was our longest ride since his accident and we're kind of aiming to do a 100 km ride one day.
Yes, we were cycling for 4-ish hours. We have water bottles on the bicycle, but we did stop now and then for granola bars.
Toward the end, I was stopping at the tops of hills a lot, waiting for him.
Fatigue is a big part of his brain injury and he was pretty knackered after about 55 km.
The hills at the end of the ride didn't help.

Morning ladies
Just caught up with the June thread and already 5 pages behind on July.
Woke up with a headache this morning, thought the morning walk would get rid of it, but it seems to be taking hold so I'll grab some painkillers in a moment.
Heather your cruise looked fabulous, thank you for taking me with you on your trip Loved the photos. Think this will be the nearest to me getting away this year.
Belated Happy Birthdays to the June birthday girls. It was my son's birthday on 29th June and I must admit to eating too much of the large cookie he was given. My weight seems to have stagnated at the moment, after a few months of weight gain. I must start logging again to see where I am going wrong. Well to be honest I know where I am going wrong eating too many calories! I need to get a grip and lose weight. My knee has been painful so I've not done as much exercise as I should. But no more excuses!
I've just applied for my bus pass (in UK you can apply for a bus pass once you reach retirement age) I'm looking forward to using it. I don't often travel by bus, but I thought I could use it to visit my niece in Shipley, we'll see.
Thanks for setting us up with a new month Barbie No goals for this month, I just want to get through it a day at a time. Feeling a bit blah the last few days.
Welcome to the new people joining us.
Take care and love to all

Glad I didn’t pack up my fleece when I pulled aloha shirts and summer slacks out from off season storage bag. Junuary has morphed into Julembrr.
Heard of a yoga class on the sand at Harris Beach State Park. Strolled by to see how advanced and what gear if any. Silly me. They were all sitting cross legged on the ground. Not something I could do at this point. [sigh] Need to look for some standing, senior Yoga youtubes.
Tracey thanks for the Canada Day pics, probably the only fireworks I’ll see this year.
Machka very well done you both on that longest ride!
Leslie likewise very well done of you to decline those desserts. Sugar always makes me want to eat MORE.
Katla glad to hear your DH is improving and your son and daughter are there for you both. ((hugs))
Lisa “…eat boiled okra…” [shudder]
Margaret gorgeous peonies, cool trick!
Allie Costco at noon on Saturday? :noway:
Carol so sorry to hear your knee hurts. Any good physical therapists near you? It’s really helped my knee with no meniscus trimming. BUT If your knee really needs to be replaced, praying you can get it done soon.
Heather, thanks for explaining about the blue heads
((hugs)) to Lanette, Kylia, Rita, Debbie, Viv and all who want ‘em.
Joe came through his oral surgery ok. Had to wait hours for pharmacy to fill the pain med rX. Only used it the first night, preferring his usual liquid heal-all the next day. Frankly, if a tot of brandy can ease the pain I believe that will have fewer side effects than the hydrocodone.

Niki: I’m all in favour of Atomic Habits. I get his newsletter every week. Also like Tiny Habits, small changes have big results.
Heather: Those are the White Cliffs of Dover! Thank you for your travelogue and photos of the cruise. Living vicariously!
Katla: (((Hugs))) Good to hear that DH is out of ICU, and that family are there for you.
Kim: It’s a long time since I used my recipe, so I will have to look it out for you.
Machka: That was some cycle trip.
Viv: We don’t get much free. Enjoy the bus pass.
We are visiting daughter and grandsons after lunch, so gotta scoot.

Yes, the White Cliffs of Dover. Nice pic, Machka
We are now home. I popped round the corner to buy milk and salad, and a newspaper for tv schedules. Everything else is easily reachable in the freezer. My basil plant survived! I put it in the very shady and cool utility room. It looks a little bothered, but it is now back on the kitchen windowsill.
Our journey home was very smooth, with a woman taxi driver. We chatted all the way. Around 2 hours.
Soon to have lunch and then it is nap time for me. I think I slept about 2 hours last night.
Waiting to hear how my son got on in the Pier to Pier swim.

Lisa – I did not realize that your daughter was not Corey’s bio daughter, is his son? His (and your) commitment to the kids tells the world he is a top notch guy.
Kim in N. California
Kim - Can't disagree with that ! Yes, John is Corey's son with his first wife, also named Lisa. Kelsey was around a year old when her birth mom married Corey, and John was born about a year later. Kelsey's birth dad never saw her, and never showed up at the adoption proceedings, so Corey is the only dad she remembers.
Boring history:When Corey divorced Lisa (now that's a weird sentence... ) John went with their mother, telling Corey he felt like she needed him, and Kels stayed with Corey. After Lisa's fifth or sixth suicide attempt (she was not good at it), John called his dad and said he wanted to come home. When I met him a few months before the wedding, he was 15 years old, 6 foot 3, all arms and legs, skinny as a rail and awkward as all-getout.
Over the years, there has been more than once I felt like I not only had Lisa's name, I had taken over her life, her children, her husband. Corey's only comment was "Yes, you did, and you're doing a much better job."
It was not a high bar to get over--she got disability payments for her bipolar diagnosis, and took John's money he made at McDonald's and the disability payment he got for being the child of a disabled person while he was with her, and used them for drugs. I've seldom been angrier than when I found out she used to send John for her illegal drugs and taught him how to snort a line. I just realized I have no idea what drugs are snorted up anyone's nose - not a game I ever played. My sinuses hurt just thinking about it.
Anyway, last I heard from Kels, her birth mom is now living with her drug dealer, who just got out of prison. Kels won't let Lisa in her house anymore because the last time she did, Lisa stole all the kid's money in their piggy banks and $400 that Kels was saving to come see us. Kels keeps tabs on her through Lisa's mother, the kids' grandmother in Colorado.
When Lisa came down to Texas to officially sign over custody of John to Corey, her only comment to Corey was that she knew he was only doing it in order to get John's disability payments. Actually, we made sure John got that money so he could pay for his cellphone bill.
She's a real piece of work, that one.
One of the other tidbits is that the three brothers Corey has left all had daughters, so John is the only one left to carry on the family name. All six sisters had a boatload of kids, both male and female, but of course, their last names are not Hannon.
Just took a covid test, came up negative, so I guess this really is a summer cold. Yuk. Not that I wanted to have covid. But I don't want a summer cold either. Grrf.
Onward and upward y'all, or in all likelihood, backward and curl up in bed.
Love y'all,

Good Sunday
It has started again as another good day. I have had my coffee, changed the sheets, started laundry, got a shower, and caught up with you all. a headache tried to start this morning, but feeling much better with caffeine.
Had dinner last night with friends. DH and I drove Roxie (my miata). She is so much fun. My girlfriend rode with me to the Dairy shed afterwards. That is only the second time I have driven Roxie with her top up. My friend doesn't like the wind. It was still fun. I need to learn to order a baby scoop at ice cream place. I had orange sherbet which was good, but only ate 1/2. I normally would have not gotten anything, but then DH would have been upset. I think he wanted to go to the Shed later as we had just finished eating but then our friends would have gone home. The upside is he only got a small flurry instead of a large!
We will be watching fireworks from our front yard this evening. No, it isn't as exciting as being in the middle of things, but I find it much better. We use to go into town to watch them, but while it only took us 10 minutes to get there, it has taken 1.5 hours to get home. I prefer to booms to be further away as well (and the convenience of a bathroom!) My DH can't really see most of them anyway. He does miss the days when he use to buy the fireworks and we would go to SIL's farm or the farm in KY and shoot them off. That ended after what could have been an awful incident involving alcohol and lack of judgement on the guys setting them offs part. Now we settle for the professional ones from our porch.
I need to get some bills paid. Will catch up later!
Make the best choice you can at the time!
Hugs!
Prayers!
Motivation!

Allie I couldn't exchange our mattress which while firm and good for the back was not so good for the hips and shoulders. If you can't exchange it, we got a 3" foam pad to put on ours. It has helped tremendously!3

Your story is quite amazing, Lisa. Kudos to Corey and you!
Not much new or different here. Getting packed for Canton this week. Made the hotel rez so we're set. Game is on Sunday and is being broadcast on ESPN2, if anyone is interested. Not that AJ will get much playtime. As I've said, she's a rookie. But #20, defensive corner. If she's out there, it will be at the top or bottom of your screen, first or second player facing the offence, dang-near, smallest player on the field! LOL (yeah, I swear)
Happy 4th tomorrow. I'll try to get back on for a second, but we have a pretty big parade and celebration in our neighborhood... RIGHT in our neighborhood. SO MUCH FUN!

July 2 is "halfway day" meaning that it is halfway through the year. What a great time to make a clean start on new habits and behaviours that will improve the quality of your life.
Happy July!
Half of the year ahead.. Time to start making headway! @barbiecat you are so insightful!

Thanks, dear heart, high praise from you! I've found myself storytelling much more lately... told Corey I think I may finally be ready to start a new book, or possibly take up the sequel and finish it. His upcoming week-long absence should be a really good time for that, fewer irresistible distractions.
Really enjoyed all the cruise pics, and always love your family pics. It's amazing how much love jumps through the screen.
Oh - and taking a leaf out of Mama's playbook, I went out and got another wall caulked in the workroom. She always thought working hard could cure anything that ailed you.

I also need to make a survey for my cycling club, so I started playing around with ideas.

You two look so happy biking. What a joy for you both.
Lisa LOL on the Okra! 100% agreed! My no list on veggies is pretty short but okra, beets and asparagus are all right there. I love everything else. PS feel better!
I hope everyone is doing well! We’re grilling out tomorrow and I’m making a low cal strawberry shortcake for the fam. Yum! Likely head over to the town fireworks tomorrow evening too. Be safe and make good choices!

Okra- fried = yummy! Boiled-Yuck (only in minestrone)
Not a fan of Brussels sprouts, turnip greens, or caulifower. I don't mind cabbage raw, but don't like cooked. I keep trying Brussels sprouts with different cooking methods, but still not there yet.1 -
Walked all day with DH at the UFO festival. Fun day. A few pics of the day.
