Heather - Hope you and John are doing well on the whole Covid thing.
Machka - Hope the new job is just the ticket for you.
Dropped Corey at the airport at about 5 a.m. for a 6 a.m. flight. It's a small airport here, but they do a good job. I've been there at least a dozen times, as I was still working for the Girl Scouts of the Desert Southwest, based in El Paso, Texas when we first got here. Had to fly out there at least once a month.
Evidently, the root canal was not completely successful. The tooth has gotten steadily worse. I thought the first few days were just residual soreness, but the pain keeps going up. Blah. I hate being in the dentist's chair - and this procedure has had bad luck from the beginning. Will be calling them in a couple hours when their office opens.I love fireworks and would support a professional display, but the idea of every half drunk human with their cheese slipping off their cracker (thanks Lisa) with fire, explosives, dry roofs and a need to look mighty just makes my tummy go flip flop!
Kim - You're very welcome. I seldom have to translate for people with that one, and it's nicely descriptive without being rude.Lisa – your family story is great, although the double Lisa part is a bit of a double take…. The kids and Corey are darn lucky to have found a better Lisa.
I just had this vision of my husband and kids and grandkids at the "Lisa Store," looking for the next one. We come in all shapes, colors and sizes, you know. And will eventually take over the world. Maybe. I'll let you know after my nap.
Back to bed to try to catch a few more Zs.
Love y'all,

The glorious morning drizzled into overcast and showers before noon. Can’t see any fireworks but hearing a few big BOOMs. Shadow barks to tell them to “STOP it!”
Lanette you’re inspiring me to get back to SWSY. Here’s the video I use, but add the triceps from the video you shared. I used to alternate SWSY with BB&B (Better Bones and Balance)https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gWsEcHqDP0w&list=PL-lxnbdeufTaqB0d7AXnRKTNTWy1khOXO&index=2Long past time to pick them up again.

2022: Be still and listen.
July: Move more, fuel better, live NOW.
Barbara - thank you for that SWSY video! Great refresher on the moves. Just what I needed, I tend to get sloppy and hurried. Once my toe gets happy I need to start back with some Better Bones stuff.
The booms started here around 7:30 last night. Rosie barking. Alot. I invited her to hop into bed, she did, but that didn't calm her down. So got up, gave her 1/2 CBD treat and parked on the (uncomfortable) recliner. She jumped on my lap and settled right now. We kind of snoozed until 11:30, then I got up and went to bed. She was OK staying on HER recliner, her usual sleeping spot.
Make it a fabulous day!

One thing I'm having a little bit of difficulty with in my new job is that it is a lot more casual than any office I've worked in since I started working in offices in Australia in 2009.
People are turning up in jeans and T-shirts!!
My difficulty has two parts:
1. I don't have a lot of casual clothes. I have clothing that's one step up from pyjamas which I wear when I get home from work but not much in the way of "nice" jeans etc.
2. The office is hot, and I really don't have a lot of cool casual clothes. I wore black capris today and I've got another pair of black capris I can wear tomorrow ... and then I kind of run out of options like that.
My wardrobe is full of dresses and skirts ... and there weren't many dressed like that!

The fireworks here weren't bad but enough to make Bessie very nervous. First she moved next to my side of the bed, then wanted to get into bed, then kept moving around above my head. I played music on my phone and got her settled amidst many pillows and kept my hand near her. We lay awake and listened to music for about 90 minutes til the big fireworks display ended. I kept the music on as smaller bursts of fireworks continued for another 90 minutes. When we went out for our 1AM walk, it was quiet and she went back to her own bed. When I woke up at 4, she was on the floor next to the bed so there must have been more noise.

Firewoorks were awful last night. We live near a school with a big field. Usually it is one group in the middle that shoots them off. I went ups to watch for about 5 minutes and there were groups all over the field shooting them off. Too dangerous for me. An 18 year old lost his life shooting those kind of fireworks off in another location in the twin cities. Fortunately they were done by 11:30. They were upsetting to DrewB too. She is not a complainer (no whining or barking) but I could tell be her body language she was upset.
Barbie we listened to music too. I look up 432 Hz music on you tube because it is so soothing.
Beth Happy Birthday :flowerforyou:
Lisa Did dentist use a lazer drill to remove the decayed part of the tooth? I learned on the dental segment of the pet summit lazer does a much better job removing the decayed part of the tooth. They do not do this procedure on dogs yet so it is difficult to get a good root canal on a dog.2 -

I slept a bit better,I took a page from Machka and used a pillow by my side and it helped...
I remember when i had my heart surgeries that they stuffed pillows on either side of me in the bed,and it was nice..
Going to go watch Miles..
It is really nice.
When we travel around Tassie, most places we stay provide 4 pillows per bed. I'll have 2 under my head and one on either side of me. Or if one is thick, that one goes under my head, 2 go on either side and the 4th goes under my knees. 😀
I sleep so much better all tucked in with pillows!
I think it is because I am not as restless. Without all the pillows I toss and turn more. With them, it's easy to find a comfortable position and stay in it longer.

Wow, Carol!!!!! Do you have sauces or dips to go with that?
DH is feeling washed out. He is not used to feeling so low in energy and is averse to taking naps. I have encouraged him to lie on the sofa while watching a bit of tennis. Hopefully, he will drift off. I have just had a nice nap. I'm a great believer in naps for restoration.
I had a long chat with my friend G this morning, which was great. I'm hoping that I will be able to talk to L this afternoon. She texted me that she has at last read my book, THEREFORE I AM, (she has had terrible problems with wet macula degeneration) and said she was 'deeply impressed and found it riveting'. She also said 'it is helping me a lot in ways I can't pin down', which was sort of my aim. We are all fellow travellers on this road and it always helps and inspires me to read how others have got through difficult times. I hope to do the same for others. It's good to know we are not alone.
I'm a great believer in those ancient wisdoms, 'the unexamined life is not worth living' and 'The truth will set you free'.
I've postponed publishing my next book for a week or so until I've recovered from covid. Right now I'm content to rest and heal.
Today I did change the bed linen! Enough excitement for one day! I haven't quite finished unpacking! But I will put a load of laundry on. I love being officially sick. JOMO.
Much love, Heather UK xxxxxxxx5 -
WE GOT IT DONE!!! Rain finally broke, JUST before the parade was supposed to start. Go figure. Wasn't as big a turnout this year as before, but it was still wonderful. MORE kids on bikes, scooters and motorized fun-things than usual so that was cool. AND we had a local LEO leading this year!
Started the event with the National Anthem, as always.
There's my peanuts!
*kitten* tourney in the backyard.
CANNOT believe I didn't take any pix of the food table! WTHeck?!? It was overflowing!

Hi Gals,
Well the war zone started about 7pm with all the noise makers by 9 the pretty exploding rockets by 11 things had calmed down at Midnight there was another 15 minutes of war zone then again at 1:30am that was almost the worse, as it woke us up – I do a herbal calming tab for Levi, usually 3 will do it at 5 tabs he was still pretty scared and frantic and I just held and rocked him from about 7 pm until 11:30 when we were quiet enough to go to bed, that did not last long enough. We were out the door at 5:30am for our walk. Not enough sleep, I may take a hint from Heather and take a nap today. I have been making a mental list of what I will be looking for in a new home and community when I retire and a place where personal fireworks are illegal will be high on my list.
Sending love to all.

Hello ladies! I have missed you! I have been on a walkabout since June 16th and got home yesterday July 4th. 🇺🇸😁🤗
My trip was splendid, meeting cousins I haven't seen since we were children! I drank a glass of wine most every night at my sisters, and sugar in my coffee in the morning, only because she has my mommas sugar container. It is a glorious heavy leaded glass thing, with a hole on the top that you pour the sugar from. The bottom is a shiny silver cap you screw on and off to refill it. It made me happy to touch it every morning.💖👍. Of course my visit with son, DIL and granddaughter was core memory making. I loved that I could help her learn to not wear pull ups anymore, and saw her ride her two wheeler bicycle (with training wheels). I was supposed to take a bus home back on 6-30 but it was cancelled without even informing me! Thank goodness my sister waited and didn't just drop me off. After it was late I called Greyhounds information and they informed me of the cancellation. I was like, "I'm here at the bus station". Of course since it was a holiday weekend most everything was booked. Finally just had sister drive me up the hours drive to my sons and got a train from Vancouver WA to home. I had 4 more days with my son and family!
In between seeing my son and my eldest sister, I saw my middle sister too. It was a nice visit, but a wee bit sad seeing her in her present condition. She was glad we made the trip though.💖
Weighed this morning and really didn't gain anything. I pretty much stayed with my plan of skipping breakfast, then having a sandwich for lunches, and small dinners. I said no thank you a couple of times, but enjoyed some cake, pie, lots of fruits and veggies.
The poor men folk at my sisters were amazed we could all sit at a table or out on the lawn, all talking at once, answering and understanding each other! It was glorious!
Nice to be back home though.💖🤗👍🇺🇸🙏

Lanette I just made up exercises and combined things and researched a bit too. It's been growing over the years.
Well ladies, I finally got my mom to her memory clinic appointment. Yay! Thanks for all the support. I was so nervous thinking she would refuse, and then she was so slow getting ready that I kept thinking she was stalling. It went well. I had to correct her several times, like when she claimed she goes to church, but she hasn't been in two years. They gave her a good pep talk about moving more and getting more social and brain stimulation. And she is getting another B12 test and an MRI to see if her high blood pressure has damaged her brain blood vessels. But overall her memory loss is not as bad as I thought. Although she did guess the year was 2003. Still she did well, and they did not diagnose Alzheimer's or even dementia. Unless it's buried in the paperwork.
Poor Teddy had a scary night. I can watch the fireworks from my bed, where he cuddled with me. No whining, but lots of snuggles and some panting. Then poor baby was alone all morning while we went to the memory clinic. He is exhausted now. Time for my nap too.

Happy to see you had a great family visit, Rebecca.

Happy July 5th. I am so glad the fireworks are over. My poor fur babies. Even the meds the vet gave us didn't help. Last night listening to them all around our house, I thought how do people live that noise (only it's real gun fire) every day and night. Sure made we realize how lucky we are.
Lisa--I understand about the mom's. DH's ex told him when he divorced her, he divorced the kids. We went to court over 7 times to get visitation and the judge finally told her if she did not comply one more time and he would put her in jail for 30 days for compet. We still had to have the police stand by for the exchange. His DD is not speaking to us because we would not co-sign a house for them and her mom lives with her. The boy lives close to us and we see each other and he knows how is mom is.
Rita-- What a fun day. thanks for sharing the pictures.
Heather--Sorry to hear about DH's friend. Time just gets away from us so understand while it had been awhile since they were in contact. Sorry to hear you both are positive. But glad to have it done and over and I pray you both recover quickly.
Machka--I am sure you will do great with the new job.
Lisa--I hope you enjoy your time with Corey gone and know you will be more than ready to welcome him home.
Carol-- What a feast. Looks really good.
Rebecca--What a great trip and memories. Thanks for sharing the pictures.
Back to work today and got 3 apps for my job, but none have done this kind of work before and really don't want nights. So keep on looking and figure it out one day at a time.
Blessings, Vicki GRAND ISLAND, NE5 -

Worked. Evidently, they’re having some sort of high-up inspection this month so almost every day I have to do something different. Like yesterday I was told to do the tomatoes first so they have time to cool. Is someone REALLY going to be checking the temperature of the tomatoes???? The other day I was told to put the chopping machine by the sink, which to me makes sense so it can be washed with the sprayer. Then I was told that even tho I clean the inserts for the chopping machine, to put them next to the sink (that’s where they put the dishes to be washed, with my stuff there there’s not going to be room), today I was told that this lettuce spinner (which to me is too small anyway) is never to be on the floor (the old one was for the longest time) but that I should put it in the sink when I’m finished (my understanding is that they’re going to put the chopper there <which they’ve done in the past>. Now with this, there won’t be room for the chopper. Wouldn’t be surprised if it gets put on the floor. But not my problem.) Whatever……
Not much needed to be prepped today, not surprising since yesterday was 4th of July. Probably could have gone to the gym but I didn’t have my things with me and I know if I came home and then went to the gym I wouldn’t have had time before my eye MD visit so I went in the pool instead (oh hardship) Then went to the eye MD. Things are looking fine. Ceramics tonight
I would like to get a piece of wood and have a friend paint “Steve’s Room” for the door to the room he usually stays in when he’s here, but I couldn’t find anything at Michael’s. We don’t have much at all for crafts.
Bonnie – welcome!
Tracey – your salad sounds good. I’ll have to try it. Oh, yes, I saw the Fall merchandise, and the 4th of July stuff 70% off
Divine – So proud of you
M – good luck on the new job
Rebecca – so glad you had such a wonderful trip
kins…. - welcome! What part of NC are you in? I’m in Newton

Stopping in before I head for bed... it's been a quiet day. Walmart delivered my order at 3 p.m., and that was pretty much the high water mark. I find it is much easier to avoid getting junk food when I'm having groceries delivered than reaching out and picking up snacks when I'm in the store. Not really sure why, but I'm OK with it.
With Corey gone, the chance that I'll make a full meal for myself is pretty remote, as well. Big shrug for that. On my own, I eat small meals about five or six times a day. When Corey's cooking, I end up adding in the full meal he makes for both of us, rather than taking one or two of mine away to balance the calorie add. Just need to own that and balance it better. He's really good at helping me achieve it, I just have to be able to express it to him.
Welcome @KinstugiJoy . We're glad you're here! Don't forget to bookmark the thread, and just a note for everyone who's new: Quite a few of us don't accept friend requests, and I'm one of them. This is not personal, it's simply part of my drive to keep social media as a small part of my life only. However, this is an amazing thread with posts from women who've been on it a week, and women who've been on it five to ten years. We have folks from dozens of states in the U.S., and others in the UK, Europe and Australia. Drop into a conversation anywhere you like.

Barbara - “can’t snack when I’m asleep” this is why I went to bed before Rodger got home last night.
Machka - trying to get the right clothing for a new position is always the worst. I have found in the position I’m in now that I dress more “girly” I work mostly with women now and it was mostly men.
For those of you that have to battle the fireworks that would get annoying fast. We have a few that go off occasionally here, but they are illegal in the city. You can buy them for outside city limits.
Rebecca - so happy you had a wonderful trip!!! Love the pictures.
Annie - what a relief to get your Mom to the appointment!
Rita - I hope you find some solace at the therapy appointment.
Vicki - I will never understand parents that use their child as a pawn. What a nasty thing to do to her children.
Lisa - I finally figured out last night that I didn’t have to have a big supper, just because it’s what’s ingrained. So last night and tonight I’ve just picked at things instead of a meal. Lo and behold my calories are much better!
I drove into the city tonight after work. I was looking for a specific colour of seed bead. I had checked Michael’s and 2 Dollarama’s here and they didn’t have them. I ended up at another Michael’s, the Dollar tree and a 5th Dollarama before finding them. I probably spent more on gas than I did the beads.
If I hadn’t been over halfway done this stocking I would have changed it up a bit.
Another wet cold day. I’m so tired of it.

I forgot I wanted to share this. My SIL was driving Jonah to camp today and Michaela went along for the ride.
They stopped and looked down at the campground before driving in. What a beautiful picture.
