JUST GIVE ME 10 DAYS - Round 193

Hi All - I'm in for round 4 for me. These challenges are working for me and the support from the group is priceless. The next 10 days will be tough because I'm away from my Peloton and on a working vacation in Florida. I lost a little over 2 pounds last round (did some yo-yo-ing in the middle. I'm hoping to keep the downward trend going, exercising daily, and making/sticking to my meal plans.
SW: 144
7/16: 143.8 - I'll take it. The weekends are when I usually gain the weight back that I've lost during the week (or the past 10 days). Took a vacation day yesterday from work and rode 30 miles on my bike. The thing I changed after my long bike ride was to stay way under calories (MFP and Garmin add more than 1k to my daily goal for long bike rides) and to avoid the hazy IPA at lunch, which sometimes is my reward after a long bike ride.

I went a little off the rails last night, but I think it was ok as I worked a good five hours in the garden transplanting and planting various things. I was hungry and pooped! I did eat more salt than usual—was craving it, so I ate some Triscuits with cheddar cheese. So not as junky as it might have been! We’ve had a lovely rain to water everything in, so I’ve been out weeding this morning, and plan to go tracking (dog tracks, I follow) later. Tracking = lots of walking. In the meantime I think I’ll just sit and read. Enjoy your Saturday!

07/15 -198.2-ENDING WEIGHT LAST ROUND
07/16 -198.8- (Trend weight 200.1) This is getting scary. Another huge jump up on the scale. Again, I stayed under calorie, under carb, met my macros wonderfully. I fit in 50 minutes of walking including inclines in two sets and I did some gardening and plant transplanting. I continued to log every bite. The only negative is that dinner was very late (after 11:00 pm) due to an unexpected phone call from an old friend in Tennessee. Scale was consistent with several weigh-ins. I don’t get it. I understand I am healing from Covid. I guess my weight drops were due to sickness, even though my appetite was fine and I at all my calories and carbs then too, even in the worst of the illness. Interestingly, my fat percentage has been staying the exact same, even with the gains. And my trend weight continues going down, even with this string of “gains”. Hmmm….. Anyway, thanks @QuiltingJaine for another round! You are bring hope to so many…….

I have seen you mention this a couple times. You do a lot of bike riding (Go you! All good!)🚴♀️🚴♀️🚴♀️. After such intense work out the legs can get a build up of lactic acid that does not clear out without massage and weighs a couple pounds.it is just a thing.
I am also in a biking family. We often seem to weigh more the days after big rides than we do before them. It could be the food we eat, but I don’t think it is always that. One time I did a charity ride and they had free massages at the end. The person doing it explained that they were literally working the lactic acid out of my legs. I haven’t got the time or money for a massage after every ride, but it would be nice!

7/16 / 166.4 / Even my husband asked me this morning why my face was so puffy. I had a super long day yesterday- at the final workday corporate event for the Stampede standing on a rooftop patio in hot weather and then a night at the grounds watching live music standing on concrete. Surpassed 20,000 steps again and just did what I needed to avoid heat stroke or dehydration. Off to the lake today.

@deepwoodslady hang in there. While you are recovering from illness and getting back into exercise plus the added heat this month you’re probably retaining water. Keep it going & I’m sure it’ll all fall back off. Glad you are getting back to normal so quickly.

SW: 352.6 (Exercise 3-4 times at least 10 minutes, goal to lose 2 to 3 lbs. each challenge, go to bed by 11:30, no eating out more than once every 10-day challenge)
Day/Weight/Comment
7/16 352.6 – I thought I was really late and I am not lol. This week has been unreal. After the funeral Thursday I decided to go get tested for COVID and the test came back positive. I feel fine though. I just felt like I had a bad cold. Taking the normal over the counter stuff I would take for a cold and halls lemon cough drops for cough and sore throat. I feel 100% better today. I never missed a day of work since I can work from home. But through it all I manage to stay on track with my food!! Thursday after the funeral I went to get me some good old comfort food but I was so much better than the old days!! Beef barley soup! And a small piece of cheesecake and a breakfast bowl I have been eating off for 2 days now. I will finish it off today. I still have barley soup and a little of the bowl left. Exercise has been terrible, but I will do a workout today since I feel up to it. The doctor told me the reason my symptoms were so minor for COVID was because I was double boosted. I was shocked, I tested positive. But my sister kept urging me to see if I had it. So, I went to an Urgent Care facility that does rapid test results. The gov tests were too complicated for this old girl! What a joke! I get to work from home all next week because I have it. I will retest on Wednesday and hopefully it will be negative. Since I still wear my mask everywhere including at work when I am in the office, I do not think I gave it to anyone, but I do know how I got it. Again, as many have posted on here COVID is still out here and whether you are vaccinated or not be careful and take care yourself. If you don’t believe anything else the numbers tell the story. I bet all of you know someone personally who have had and/or died from COVID. Just like millions have died from the flu, millions have died from COVID and many other diseases. So do you best to stay safe is my only message to you all…. Have a great weekend and keep up the good work!

My journey … "I May Not Be Where I Want To Be, but I’m Not Where I Use To Be!"In 2003 Weighed over 600 lbs.My highest weight was 611 in 2003. Weight in 2004 before weight loss surgery was 580. Lowest weight after surgery was 302 in 2007. "I May Not Be Where I Want To Be, but I’m Not Where I Use To Be!"
In 2005 Weighed under 400 lbs.
In 2007 lowest weight after surgery 302lbs
I joined MFP on March 27, 2010, weighing in at 388 pounds. I was re-gaining weight and stumbled up on it while trying to get back on track. I was determined never to see 400+ on that scale again for me.
I have been morbidly obese all my life. I have a lifetime of mental and physical scars from obesity. In October 2004 I had Gastric Bypass surgery. WLS (Weight Loss Surgery) was the best gift that I could and did give to myself.
Between 2008 and 2010 I gradually gained back 80 of almost 300 pounds lost initially after weight loss surgery. I never reached my goal weight of 200 pounds. I still managed to keep off over 65 percent of the weight I lost which is very good and I am very proud of my accomplishments since 2004. It has literally changed my life for the better on all levels. I am here to lose re-gained weight and to reach my initial goal weight. I am in no hurry. I am taking this one day at a time and I am in it for the long haul.
Surgery did not fix the head. It is a good tool and the best gift I have given to myself, but it was not the easy way out as many people think. Once the honeymoon period is over after the WLS it is up to the patient to keep the weight off.
On August 29, 2011-- I was admitted to Intensive Outpatient Eating Disorder Program to learn how to manage my binge eating disorder effectively. The program is wonderful indeed and will be instrumental in me reaching all of my goals. The focus of this program was how to eat and not diet. Weight loss was not a goal of the program. I gained 20 pounds in program. But I had to get thru a lot of stuff and the time I was released I had stopped gaining. I was discharged from program on December 3, 2011.
My tool is still working for me today. My head is still the issue. SO, the struggle continues. I will never beat myself up again. I fight the fine fight faithfully and positively every day. Because that is what will get me to my goals one day. Even though it may not show up on the scale every day -- Every day I make progress one way or another just by showing up, waking up and trying.
Giving up is not an option for me. Perseverance, Patience, & Positive thinking will help me reach my goals…… and the same is true for you too!! We have the power within us.7 -

THERE ARE NO QUICK FIXES OR SHORTCUTS to achieving permanent change.
REMINDERS: One or two thoughts which might give heart to some of you.- Daily weight fluctuations are normal, and can be as much as 2 lbs a day for no apparent reason.
- A general downward trend is what we are looking for.
- Eating out can cause apparent weight gain because of high sodium levels, but usually goes quickly. Drinking extra water helps with this.
- The human body does not react instantly to what we do to it. Sometimes it can take several days to see results.
- Plateaus are a normal part of the process. The body is consolidating and adapting to your new way of eating/exercising.
- The closer you get to your goal weight, the more difficult it becomes to lose weight, as your body becomes more efficient at using what you feed it.
- When you exercise you build muscle, which takes up less space than fat, so use measurements as well as weight to assess your progress.
- Getting/Staying fit and healthy requires a lifestyle change for most people.
